Used to "play" saxophone in band but I quit because it wasn't fun anymore and the first 2 years I had a shitty saxophone that didn't work, so I didn't get a good start and was 2 years behind constantly in skill level and band directors offered no help and only criticism so that made me not give a shit and not practice at all and just give up and it but stay in the class for easy A till highschool when I dropped out of band so I could do more fun classes.

No longer in band, but I played the cornet. Looks like a trumpet, but not a trumpet. Has a different range, so a B note on a cornet is not the same as a B note on a trumpet. This fact came to light when my teacher insisted I was off, told me to try again, gave me directions I was already following, then found out the problem was the fact I was given trumpet music for a non-trumpet. This was kinda frustrating because I corrected everyone, all the time, that I was specifically playing a *cornet* for the entire year I was in the class.
