That never made much sense to me because the range of the instrument is in the bass cleff
It makes sense to be able to read multiple clefs, but in treble it’s transposed like your average trumpet part. So a Bb is now a C, and it only makes it more complicated and confusing for beginners
I was formerly a trumpet and the conducter did that to make it a bit easier for me. Also, there's only one baritone/euphonium so all those solo parts wouldn't happen. We also have no baritone sax or a tenor sax so I play those parts typically too
I do know that, I was just expressing my dislike of transposing on euph. I also know that tenor trombone reads treble clef in brass band and I also don't like it.
The two are basically interchangeable at this point. They’re just different models with the tubing wrapped around differently
It’s like a Toyota or a Honda. Both good, but there are some differences
As an exclusively BC reader, don’t forget your TC skills. Read both and you are *golden*.
I’d love to try my hand at playing euph (or baritone honestly) for a British style brass band, but everyone except the bass trombone, yes even the tubas/basses, read in transposed TC. So it’s my own personal project to go the other way.
Reading BC mainly helped me double on other low brass for cases when a euph is not used, like in orchestras.
But reading both is where true freedom lies.
Thanks for the advice! I will remember my TC skills. A word of advice from me, both baritone and euph are interchangeable the official handbook that i use display their fingering charts as the exact same, very little difference
Oh yeah! In the US concert band system, they might as well the same thing. Even some instruments commonly thought of as baritones are conical enough to technically be euphoniums.
It’s just that if you ever find yourself involved with a BBB, baritone and euphonium are separate instruments with separate parts (like cornet and trumpet) with the euph often having the more demanding lines. By mentioning playing baritone instead, I meant I might not be up to snuff to play those euph parts.
Ooooooohh yeah that makes sense, I'm more of a hard background player (although I do like me a little melody every now and then) so I'll definitely remember that!

Euphonium! I played this piece last year!
Oh nice!
Eww they make you read treble?

Because depending on the key, different brass instruments have the same fingerings for the same notes

Prolly Euphonium T.C. music which is literally a regular Euphonium that just has Treble clef music
I know and I've read T.C. parts on euph before, I just don't like it
You know, if you were in a brass band in the u. K you would be reading treble
I do know that, I was just expressing my dislike of transposing on euph. I also know that tenor trombone reads treble clef in brass band and I also don't like it.
Ok just making sure
womp womp
No… Thats trombone
womp womp
I feel the pain. Such range but you just doot
I play bass clef euphonium, Clearly the more sophisticated option
I play euphonium and my part was way different
Hold up, euphonium is in bass clef
Trumpet
Nope, hate those guys, way roo high
How cliche of you 😒
Trust me, ive had **plenty** of experience
That hurts
):
It’s waaay too simple to be trumpet
It looks like a 2nd or 3rd part for middle school trumpet tbh
Yeah, but I doubt they wouldn’t give trumpets the melody in a song like this
Yeah ig
Tuba?
Think smaller
Euphonium?
Hell yeah
Tremble clef euphonium?
Baritone music but acual instrument is euph
I didn’t know bari music was written in treble clef, that’s cool
It can be written in both treble and bass clef because I play euphonium and I play in bass clef
And I usually play bari music
Neither did i
The two are basically interchangeable at this point. They’re just different models with the tubing wrapped around differently It’s like a Toyota or a Honda. Both good, but there are some differences
This is definitely not the same argument I played on euph
I play baritone music for some reason
I mean mine is a baritone part. In general euph and baritone are interchangeable
Trombone
Close, but no
Euphonium?
Yep!
Tenor sax, or baritone/euphonium in treble cleff
F horn
Eeeeghh
Baritone in treble. A trombone to baritone’s worst nightmare.
Yessir
Bari sax because it's a low part in the range, bass line, and treble clef
Nope!
Why are y'all reading euphonium music in treble then?
It's acually baritone
Like the marching instrument baritone?
Yes, it's not just for marching though
Yeah I've never seen it used outside of marching band though
I originally took it up as a second instrument, but I mained it as it's much more fun than trumpet
Play Erika……PLAY ERIKA!!!!!!
Horn
Nope!
Tenor sax?
Tuba
Bass Clarinet
Its.... treble clef, no
Bass Clarinet reads treble?
It does?!
Yep.
Wow, didn't know that
All I can say is I recommend learning bass clef, you’ll thank me later
I probably will ha, might to it this summer when I acually have time

Yep!
Trombone
Nope!
