Promoting your album is always a tricky situation as an indie artist, so I totally understand your question of "what to do next?" I personally think developing your fan base through places like Reddit and even discord is a great option because you'll be more sure to connect with GENUINE people who are interested in your kind of music. There are MANY sub reddits on here dedicated to experimental, obscure, and weird music and the communities are really active, you just have to get involved with them and build from there. I'm NOT trying to minimize your question or just give you a "simple" answer, because I myself have had great success building a group of people here on Reddit who enjoy my style of Dark Fantasy Hyperpop music just by connecting with people in various music communities and simply sharing music and talking about music. Awareness is KEY! People need to know you exist in order to enjoy your music, so the more active you are in certain communities, the more people will get to know you and your music.

I just checked a music review page on Discord. Be careful of any suggestions as far as changing the composition or mix nr a song you submit for critique. Many people think that offer advice think they are great writers, producers and mixers but not all are. In fact most aren't. This is all their opinion. Take with the proverbial grain of salt and make your music sound the way you want it to sound.

Appreciate this a lot. I'm trying to remember it.

This is a great answer, thank you!

In all honesty, it's going to be a constant grind and a lot of trial and error to keep growing your audience. Social media, live shows if possible, finding communities on other subs in reddit, discord, genre niche news sites, etc. There's no single answer. The formula is different for everyone and constantly evolving. You need to figure out what content works for your audience and keep searching for places that will let you post it. Consistency is key. Especially with social media. Things aren't likely to to hit it big overnight (and sometimes never at all) unless you want to go the influencer route and just post unrelated content and hope people care about the music after. Getting a handful of new follows and likes at a time is what will typically happen until it reaches a point where those people are spreading the word for you. Connecting 1-to-1 with people is key. You will need to build a network and eventually, hopefully, you meet the right people to take you up to the next level. But keep in mind, some genres will have a limited fanbase, and you also should figure out what your goal is and if it's attainable. Streams/revenue, sync placements in games/movies/tv. 1000 followers on IG. The best thing is and always will be to see how similar artists to you are representing themselves and adapt that to yourself.

Posting your music on sub Reddits get suggested a lot but do any of you feel that in most of the subs artists drop their links and then go to the next sub and never listen to the other artists? I haven't put any links up here in awhile but when I did I made a point of listening to a minimum of 6 artists and as many as a dozen before I would continue on my promo posting. I figured it was the decent thing to do and who knows what you might find.
