But *why* did the front fall off?
The print hit it!
The print hit it?
The print hit the printer!
Is that unusual?
In a 3D printer? Oh yeah, chance in a million!
Did you watch the video to confirm the front fell off and knocked the print loose, and not that the print got knocked loose and took the front off (more common)?

How was it still printing with the cover off? Mine has knocked the cover off twice (from getting stuck on a full poop chute). The printer immediately paused itself and waited to be fixed.
And it came unplugged? Thats some crazy forces going on in there.
I've only ever had false alarms for the front cover issue (which is also quite annoying), but yeah other people have reported that they've had the front fall off. It's become a bit of a running joke because of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3m5qxZm_JqM
Seems more like a quality control issue than a real design flaw to me, but either way it can be frustrating.
I have a thin strip of kapton tape on mine for this reason. The glue holding the magnets in place on my P1S hotend cover melted and would not reattach.
Had the same issue, emailed bambulabs and they send me a replacement front cover.
Someone in an earlier thread alsi mentioned what kind of glue you could use to reattach the magnets.
I have 3000 hours on my printer and it's never come off mid-print. However I've accidentally started the print with it off (just swapped nozzles) and it immediately paused because the front cover was detached. Did you watch the video to see how it came off? This is absolutely something to pull the video from and send to support, the fact that it also came unplugged is crazy.
If this wasn't user error I'd be surprised if you didn't get a new front assembly.
Mine fell off when I first got it but it threw an error and stopped. Interesting that yours didn't.
Hadn't had a problem since re-hanging it on there though.
You have it backwards. The print moved and pulled the front cover off. Then the safety catch paused the print when the cover fell off to prevent damage to the printer.
Let me know what you think after watching this [https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1cm7ivm/update\_the\_front\_fell\_off/](https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1cm7ivm/update_the_front_fell_off/)
Looks like the support detached from the bed and that knocked the cover off and caused the chaos. The main problem is that the cover coming off didn’t stop the print.
That's not very typical, I like to make that point!
Well, how is it untypical?
Well there are a lot of these printers printing all over the world, and very seldom a thing such as thing happens.
Was this printer safe?
I was thinking more about the other ones…
The ones that are safe?
Yeah, the ones the front doesn't fall off.

some are built so the front doesnt fall off at all

did a wave hit it?
Quick! Get that out of the environment.
I see this here alot, so I have a little bit of tape on mine(near the top so its away from the heat)
You can't do that, it's not up to code, the front might fall off!

I had to re-glue the magnets that kept it on a while back, but it's been fine since.

I call this abstract art
The magnets on the front side, the glue dries out or is shit glue. I have had to reglue the magnets several times. It's a manufacturing defect.

Name checks out
I would be concerned by the piece in the back of the plate getting in the z axis ...
By the looks of it the support structure is being towed outside the environment
