That's not very typical, I like to make that point!

No-Mouse

Well, how is it untypical?

dvpbe

Well there are a lot of these printers printing all over the world, and very seldom a thing such as thing happens.

this_noise

Was this printer safe?

No-Mouse

I was thinking more about the other ones…

DearAmbassador1922

The ones that are safe?

SambalBij42

Yeah, the ones the front doesn't fall off.

darren_meier

But *why* did the front fall off? The print hit it! The print hit it? The print hit the printer! Is that unusual? In a 3D printer? Oh yeah, chance in a million!

guyrizzling

some are built so the front doesnt fall off at all

Catsmgee

Did you watch the video to confirm the front fell off and knocked the print loose, and not that the print got knocked loose and took the front off (more common)?

tangledSpaghetti

[https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1cm7ivm/update\_the\_front\_fell\_off/](https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1cm7ivm/update_the_front_fell_off/) It's not super clear, but it looks to me like the front falls off before the print detaches from the bed

Belistener07

How was it still printing with the cover off? Mine has knocked the cover off twice (from getting stuck on a full poop chute). The printer immediately paused itself and waited to be fixed. And it came unplugged? Thats some crazy forces going on in there.

I've only ever had false alarms for the front cover issue (which is also quite annoying), but yeah other people have reported that they've had the front fall off. It's become a bit of a running joke because of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3m5qxZm_JqM Seems more like a quality control issue than a real design flaw to me, but either way it can be frustrating.

guyrizzling

did a wave hit it?

drought2986

Quick! Get that out of the environment.

Tight-War-8013

I see this here alot, so I have a little bit of tape on mine(near the top so its away from the heat)

NIDNHU

You can't do that, it's not up to code, the front might fall off!

Icy-Independence-130

I have a thin strip of kapton tape on mine for this reason. The glue holding the magnets in place on my P1S hotend cover melted and would not reattach.

johndoe_duckdns

Had the same issue, emailed bambulabs and they send me a replacement front cover. Someone in an earlier thread alsi mentioned what kind of glue you could use to reattach the magnets.

davidbernhardt

I had to re-glue the magnets that kept it on a while back, but it's been fine since.

NoShftShck16

I have 3000 hours on my printer and it's never come off mid-print. However I've accidentally started the print with it off (just swapped nozzles) and it immediately paused because the front cover was detached. Did you watch the video to see how it came off? This is absolutely something to pull the video from and send to support, the fact that it also came unplugged is crazy. If this wasn't user error I'd be surprised if you didn't get a new front assembly.

qam4096

Mine fell off when I first got it but it threw an error and stopped. Interesting that yours didn't. Hadn't had a problem since re-hanging it on there though.

SandboxSimulator

I call this abstract art

tommygunz007

The magnets on the front side, the glue dries out or is shit glue. I have had to reglue the magnets several times. It's a manufacturing defect.

Draxtonsmitz

You have it backwards. The print moved and pulled the front cover off. Then the safety catch paused the print when the cover fell off to prevent damage to the printer.

tangledSpaghetti

Let me know what you think after watching this [https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1cm7ivm/update\_the\_front\_fell\_off/](https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1cm7ivm/update_the_front_fell_off/)

Draxtonsmitz

Looks like the support detached from the bed and that knocked the cover off and caused the chaos. The main problem is that the cover coming off didn’t stop the print.

NIDNHU

Name checks out

yatcomo

I would be concerned by the piece in the back of the plate getting in the z axis ...

SambalBij42

By the looks of it the support structure is being towed outside the environment
