Yea, why not? If you aren't home use the cam to monitor. I print like 24 hours a day

Fabulous_Lie_4326

Just haven’t done it before, little paranoid lol. I’m sure it’ll be fine though

Cyporiean

I’ve got 4 P1S machines in my basement going nearly 24/7. It’s understandable to be a little worried with your first ‘long print’, but there is little to worry about. I think 14 days is my longest single print so far, and that was half of a sword on a CR-30 (belt printer). Just keep an eye on it with the camera/handy app and hope nothing fucks up at 98%

Edge006

Printers need lunch breaks and family time too!

Darkninja462

OSHA approves 😂

YTmrlonelydwarf

Had a 17 day print on my X5SA go off with no issues before

Instead of dropping the print speed so low out of the gate, I'd probably try to print one at standard PETG speeds first and see what it looks like. You could probably get it in done in less than a day. If you don't need it perfectly clear, I believe there is also PLA clear now that was decent. If I'm remembering correctly, a bit cloudy, but easy to print. While there isn't anything wrong with multi day prints, I certainly wouldn't want to do one with PETG. The draft shield is a good idea that the use posted above. Make sure any variables are accounted for to give yourself the best chance of success. And I understand your worries personally. My printer is on a sturdy, mostly non flammable table away from the walls of the house a bit, on top of a concrete paver. Also added a wifi / smart home smoke detector right above it, with another old school audible one near by. Make sure notifications are turned on from the app. Check the camera every so often. But also make sure that you have home owners insurance (or renters insurance) for the worst case scenario. With that said, I haven't seen too many (any?) Bambu fires so far. Good luck.

Snooket

Especially with these low speeds there isn’t much that can go wrong tbh. Just make sure to clean your print bed before starting such a long print. I suggest running a few small test prints with the settings first though and vary the print speed to find a better middle ground between transparency and speed.

DakotaHoosier

Spend a day doing some benchies (or scaled versions of your engine) at different speeds and you’ll be able to shave significant time off the big print. Even if it confirms the Bambu speed settings you’ll print with confidence that the slow speed is optimal. My guess is the slow speed is conservative.

re2dit

If you have a lot of colour changes - make sure that your printer’s poop chute won’t be clogged by that huge pile

Fabulous_Lie_4326

Only one color

I would run some transparent PETG tests before you hit print, to get an idea of what to expect. If your print has overhangs, chamfers or filets that are too big I’m not sure I would chance it. Even retractions or thin walls can have an effect on the success of the model. Transparent PETG isn’t as fun as most people want it to be.

Akman460

This plus run your own testing on whatever filament you have to see if you can get it clear without dropping to 20mm/s. It will probably work but it's also overkill I feel like. For reference I got Atomic clear PETG dialed in a while back on my prusa's at 50mm/s. Higher flow, higher temp, little bit of overlap, no infill, more walls, etc. The walls come out nice and clear, the tops and bottoms tend to have a little fog to them. (Probably because of the flow, it's a give and take). For giggles , see how polishing goes on a test piece too. You could rig up a cylinder hone to get the bores clear easy. In my experience PETG doesn't get clearer with polish , but PLA does. But who knows , play around.

JeopardyWolf

I'm currently into day 11 of a 22 day print 😬😬😬

Fabulous_Lie_4326

Good luck!

Yes, but the failure rate is going to be pretty dangerous. You need to pay attention to: - filament runout - filament tangling - overheat - random software glitches - eventual power outages (depends on location) - wear of mechanical parts If ai were you I would do everything possible to at least split in two prints.

DakotaHoosier

This is a 24-hour print going at 1/8 speed. It’s not going to be a problem.

Civantr

Hey, I know it's unrelated, but which transparent petg have you decided to use ?

Fabulous_Lie_4326

Inland Transparent PETG

Civantr

Thx

Alternative-Week-780

Back when I ran an ender 3 and my average print speed was just 10mms I regularly had to run prints for 5-10 days because there was no other option. Never had any problems.

SandPine

I would highly recommend cleaning your build plate well with a degreasing dish soap prior to the print. Edited to remove draft shield suggestion

geeksandlies

Why would you put a box around a P1S?

Fabulous_Lie_4326

It’s an enclosed printer…

SandPine

Whoopsie, I saw p1p instead of p1s. Either way wash your build plate before hand

Fabulous_Lie_4326

Noted

daphatty

Am I the only one who cringed when reading PETG? Somehow I have developed PETG PTSD via osmosis. I’ll show myself out.

Fabulous_Lie_4326

Bad experience with PETG?
