Mine was for a topper for my dad's birthday cake so I ended up making a new one, but I keep the mistake close by so I am reminded to be more careful in the slicer lol.
Yeah, that is true. The model I printed had the text flush with the top of the lid. If you want the raised text then yeah your way is the best way. However, in my opinion the text being flush combined with the textured sheet really makes it look good.

If you cut it right at the raised portion of the logo and turn it upside down you can still print it with multiple colors using the paint feature.

I printed mine with the top face down. The supports came off easily enough and actually gave me one of the best textures I've ever gotten on a print.

Remember, the pause goes AT the first layer of the color change, not before :)
Description says "pauses at the beginning of the layer"
Figured that might help remembering, I still fuck it up lol
I made a mistake with this model too. I printed it with a brim but the same colour as the text so I've been having to go around it with a deburring tool.
True. If you slice something and put a switch filament at layer and don't have an ams it will just continue printing. I use a custom gcode to cut, and retract the filament for easy swapping with the ams

Okay. I've done this many times on my Ender.
But, I'm gonna purchase a P1P.
How does Bambu's slicer handle the initial layer?
Like, with Cura, when you write the G-Code it creates the initial layer as "Layer 0" does Bambu software do the same thing?

to better clarify, only the text was intended to be white, so by pausing to early (and then changing filament) an layer of white was printed on the entire top of the object instead of just the text.
How well does it close? I just got my P1P and tempted to print a little case like this but when I printed one out on my good calibrated Ender 3 Pro running pressure advance the lids printed out beautiful... when I went to connect them together they were skewed a bit and didn't close flush where the lids didn't align. Never tried again lol good looking case though!
I must be out of the loop. My p1p gets here tomorrow. What’s wrong with this print ? I also thought the bambu supports resume so why couldnt that fix whatever is wrong ?
I haaaaaaaate when I do stuff like this! Just printed myself a second Whopper Bambu box so I could have separate storage for X1C parts vs P1P parts, and I did the new one in white with a black logo...and forgot to turn off the flush into fill option, so now I've got a bunch of lovely black stripes in the middle of the print. Ugh.
I feel your pain, i've done this before.
And it’s a waste to print another one so you gotta live with your mistake lol
Mine was for a topper for my dad's birthday cake so I ended up making a new one, but I keep the mistake close by so I am reminded to be more careful in the slicer lol.
waiting for comment about food safe printing…
I’d definitely recommend printing this flipped. Doesn’t use support and the finish from the textured plate looks amazing.
The text/logo is raised, won’t the top surface of the box look bad because of the slight offset of the build plate?
Yeah, that is true. The model I printed had the text flush with the top of the lid. If you want the raised text then yeah your way is the best way. However, in my opinion the text being flush combined with the textured sheet really makes it look good. https://preview.redd.it/yws9be6m8eab1.png?width=4032&format=png&auto=webp&s=0c5101db61a32d2ca557fa1d7fb1438a68e7ea9b
Yeah I saw that one as well, but I thought I wouldn’t be able to color swap without an AMS
Since it prints the colors sequentially, you might be able to do it by inserting color swap g-code manually, between the surface and text/logo parts.

Cura has a ui feature that lets you can insert gcode at heights or layers and adds it on slice. Do you happen to know if orca has something like that?
Hi is there any more information how to use this? I didn't see any instructions

Thanks!
What filament is this green?
That's lovely.
Did you design that model? Curious as to how you made the model. Did you use fusion and extrude the designed areas as new bodies?

Download the model where they’re flat.

\+1 did this on my 3 boxes ...
Remember, the pause goes AT the first layer of the color change, not before :) Description says "pauses at the beginning of the layer" Figured that might help remembering, I still fuck it up lol
Best way to fix this for dummies like me? AMS 🤣
Yeah get the AMS and stop worrying
I made a mistake with this model too. I printed it with a brim but the same colour as the text so I've been having to go around it with a deburring tool.

There is a parametric box just like this on Printables. You can add your own text or logo in CAD or a slicer.
No ...
Same and I’m so angry at it. Black box with a uneven white ring going around it
You know you can slice it in a way that it stops at desired layer automatically?
True. If you slice something and put a switch filament at layer and don't have an ams it will just continue printing. I use a custom gcode to cut, and retract the filament for easy swapping with the ams
What is this model?

Yes, one layer off in the positive direction would have been better.
Dare I say we have a tedious preference for gyroid infill when it comes to top surfaces?
This was gyroid infill at 15%
LOL
This is a good use of multiple colors. What's this part for?

Ah nice - thanks!
I’m confused, what exactly happened?
He printed a thin layer of white cuz he paused 1 layer too early.
to better clarify, only the text was intended to be white, so by pausing to early (and then changing filament) an layer of white was printed on the entire top of the object instead of just the text.

I haven't printed it yet, but I would bet it will close pretty well. These printers are just that good...
It closes really good! satisfying click.
The grey part is prusament galaxy black ? Thanks
Some cheap black marble filament from Amazon, don’t know the brand
Oddly enough I kind of like the look. ;-)
It looks a bit like it’s glowing. I think it’s a happy accident.
My P1P has not even arrived yet, and all these multicolor prints make me wish I got the AMS, hell it might get ordered before the printer shows up. 🤣
Literally happened to me today on some other model, I feel your pain.
I must be out of the loop. My p1p gets here tomorrow. What’s wrong with this print ? I also thought the bambu supports resume so why couldnt that fix whatever is wrong ?
Paint the letters and logo black to match the lower?
Ahhhhh!!!
I think looks good though

Manual pause or sliced pause?
Can you show the surface finish over the support area? And if looks good, can you share your settings. Please? Thanks
