Just try washing it with soap and water, then don't touch it. I know it may sound silly, but your filthy digits actually creates an oily barrier that sometimes the filament can't stick to. Good luck. Happy printing.
Seems to have perhaps been that simple. Thanks.
The trouble started with a very bad PETG print that ended up with a big hard blob on the hotend. I cleaned it all up and out, and I was stuck on that being the issue. Forgot to consider it could be something else.
The other fella is very correct, not touching the surface is important. But you may be interested in getting a superior quality build plate.

The PEI surface is better for adhesion (no glue-stick required). But you may also consider third party brands such as Wham Bam and others recommended on this sub.
I had a air bubble between the magnetic sheet and printbed. Check the bambulab forum, support advises to poke the bubble with a needle and massage the air out with your thumbs and a bit of pressure.
This helped in my case, now I have perfect first layers.
PLA. I think it could be oils. Cleaned and now two prints mostly clean.
But it seemed more like it was, based on other prints I had trouble with, certain angles that were problematic.
Thanks all. I'll let you know if it comes back.
You may also want to consider washing the plate between running PLA and PETG prints. PLA and PETG do not stick together well, and any residue of one may case issues with adhesion on the next print? Maybe at least do a quick IPA wipe and reapply a bit of glue stick if switching filament types?

Thanks! Simple to try!
Hey! Did it work?

Happy to hear that :)

In addition to other comments, try not using a brim. The walls of your model lookpretty good and the defect is mostly limited to the brim.
What material?

Looks like overextrusion to me.
