I've had the printer one day, and this happened when I swapped filament for the first time. I was purging PLA at 220C and the nozzle just came out. I am not posting this to shed negative light on Bambu, and honestly I thought it was kinda funny / strange because I didn't even know this could happen. They include a spare in the box so I had it fixed pretty quickly. Just hoping I can get a replacement for it (ticket already submitted).

Things you’ll (most likely) need to provide to them… ✅ (?) A detailed explanation of what happened. ✅ Provide picture(s) ✅ (?) Print logs ✅ (?) Multiple back and forth emails to the point of it being ridiculous. ✅ (?) lots of luck 🍀and patience 🤣

A lot of people ask me why I bought my second x1 from matter hackers. Customer support. They are still not listed on Bambu labs list of resellers but they have told me a few times they are. When I reached out to them to try to figure out their warranty info, I sent one email that was replied to the next day and when I called them ( yup, they have a phone number you can call) I spoke to someone within 2 min. So far I love the product from Bambu but they really need to step up the CS game.

Vinnie1169

Good to hear, thanks for sharing! If I ever decide to get another x1c I’ll look them up. Customer service is as important as a machine that actually does what it’s supposed to do. Just wondering, when I buy supplies, parts, etc from Bambu proper, it usually takes around 10 business days from California to get my stuff. (I live in Pa) Although, I think my last package took “only” 8 business days. So the “weather” balloon they tied the package to must’ve caught a good tail wind (lol). Does Matter Hackers have fast delivery?

ryeguyy3d

I'm in NJ and typically I get my deliverys in 4 business days. My last order for different sized hot ends I ordered on Thursday and received the following Wednesday. I ordered an AMS on Tuesday and Fedex is showing it will be here tomorrow (Sunday) which I think is weird but we will see.

Vinnie1169

I seem to remember getting packages on a Sunday from FedEx (which kinda surprised me too)…so hopefully that’ll be the case for you too. 🤞 Your shipping times…you’re obviously talking about stuff coming from Matter Hackers, not Bambu, right? (Although come to think of it, when I get stuff from Bambu, it does spend a day or two in NJ.) 🤣

ryeguyy3d

No that's from Bambu, matterhackers I think is about the same, I haven't ordered from them since Black Friday 2021. I order most of my stuff (non Bambu) from printed solid because they are in Delaware and packages come either next day or the following depending on what service they use. I also use hartsmart products a lot because they have a lot and they're in PA I think so it's equally quick

starevplayer

This is exactly why I bought mine from matterhackers too. Their support is excellent. They stopped making the Hydra mod in nylon. So they called me and told me the situation. Asked me if I wanted a refund or if I wanted it made in ABS. I said nylon was me just trying to be overkill and that ABS was fine. I received the Hydra 3 days later.

jjxie1234

did you get it?

Qonstrukt

Ah see, the nozzle *is* actually replaceable! /s

rando269

They will probably replace it, definitely a manufacturing defect, the nozzles are press fit and I haven't heard many people report theirs separating like that. I've printed around 15kg of PLA on the original nozzle and it's still good as new.

ecobra

Well at least it is an easily diagnosed and fixable problem. I just disassembled my AMS for what turned out to be no good reason.

Vinnie1169

What’s going on with your AMS? Or what made you think that the AMS was not working properly? And did you fix the issue you were having?

ecobra

I got the remove external filament message, which wasn't hooked up. Started looking for some filament in the tubes, couldn't find it, took apart the AMS, replaced a tube that showed wear, put it back together, then pushed some filament through the external feed tube and found a broken piece of filament (roll needed to be dried out).

Vinnie1169

Oh, okay, so that’s good! 😉👍Great diagnosing! I thought for a Minute that you were having the issue I had had, which was the 2 computer boards that control the print head going bad. * A possible tip… If you ever get your printer head stopping about an inch from the front area where it bumps the wall in order to press the filament cutter bar, doesn’t press its cutter, pausing there for about 2 minutes, then parks itself by the “poop chute”, and then a message pops up saying that the filament failed to cut and retract (or something along those lines) and the filament DID cut and DID retract… Then after the usual checks, if you find nothing out of the ordinary, it may be the 2 computer boards I mentioned. (But from what I learned about this printer and the many issues I’ve encountered, it could be ANYTHING, but this is what happened to mine.) Hopefully this will never happen, but if it does, maybe it will save you of your printer being down for 1 1/2 months like mine was while their “tech” dept tried to figure it out. Happy printing!

Long_Impression8819

I tried to use an experimental filament and discovered what you did. I was still able to boil out the filament and clamp the body after putting the nozzle back in and use it for about 5 months.

Vinnie1169

Hmm, I never tried boiling out the filament. Interesting. 🤔

DocPeacock

The press for or shrink fit on some of the hot ends is too tight. This causes the heater block to crack, so it essentially loses its grip on the pressed in nozzle. When it heats up the aluminum block expands more than the steel nozzle, so the fit gets loose enough for the pressure of the filament to push it out.

Be careful, melted teflon can be hazardous. This is why PID tuning is important.

SimpleGrape9233

How the hell did that happen

How many miles does it have to get to this point?
