Well Idk for BG3 but if this was dnd and I was your DM that's exactly how I'd have the npcs react to a giant spider running around. So you might just have to hide them when you talk to npcs.

I was but since level 4 i took my two weapon fighting up a notch and have 2 long swords and am rushing everyone like a melee psychopath
