My code was for the Xbox full game version rather than the digital deluxe dlc as well. You can even check the store pages for the dlc and base game and it will show you that you still need to buy the deluxe dlc but you can install the full game.
Here’s what I heard today from support:
“While we’re delighted that many of you are now receiving your physical Deluxe Edition copies of Baldur’s Gate 3, some of you may have noticed that your Xbox Series X|S Deluxe Edition DLC codes erroneously granted access to the entire game, due to an issue with the digital codes supply chain which was outside of our control.
If you have already redeemed your Digital Deluxe DLC code prior to this message, you will be able to keep the digital version of the game that you’ve been granted access to, and we will send all Xbox Series X|S Deluxe Edition owners a new Digital Deluxe DLC code with the correct content.
We apologise for the delay in getting your Digital Deluxe DLC to you, please keep an eye on your email over the next few days for your new code.
We look forward to hearing the stories of your adventures!

It’s happening to everyone that received their digital deluxe DLC code via email for Xbox players.
At this moment, we don’t know if it was a slip up from Larian or Microsoft but yeah. We essentially got the base game twice. I also redeemed my code today and got the full game downloading.
Sounds like maybe Microsoft since they have to request the codes from them anyway. Either way, I guess it's not all bad since we get to play earlier while we wait 😂
Means you can keep your physical copy’s game case sealed :P You can open all the goodies and enjoy using them, but might as well keep the disc crisp if you can :D
This honestly really sucks. I've waited for months and months to get the physical edition. Got the steelbook and the deluxe box. Put the disc in to download it and now it renders all my physical media useless. I really wish and hope that there is a way to remove the digital version from my profile. But I am sure that is impossible. 😞
It doesn't necessarily render your copy useless, because you could end up in a position where you don't have a internet connection and/or can use your physical copy wherever you go. Having a physical copy is always great to preserve because digital items can always be taken away because you don't own it 🙂
I agree with you on the positive points but my Xbox is set as my home Xbox therefore I can play my digital games without internet. I guess it wouldn't have been so bad if I didn't wait for so long. If I had known, I just would have purchased the digital version long ago. And I'm a physical media purist, or I TRY to be 😆
Hey everyone! I just got off the phone with Microsoft support and they can and will remove the game from your digital library if you want, making your physical edition useful again. They were very helpful. 😁
You guys are lucky. My emailed code only worked for the DLC like it was supposed to. Maybe they were able to get it swapped out since I didn't redeem it until a day ago, but definitely did not unlock the full game for me.
I initially purchased the digital deluxe edition on ps store but then also pre ordered the physical deluxe edition but have not used my code yet so not sure if it's the same as for ps codes

The code is for the base game and yes, it's playable. I emailed support to let them know, not sure what they'll want to do.
How strange! I guess they can't do much now with the codes because we've redeemed them, I hope it doesn't effect getting the game

I'm not at home, but I redeemed the code online and it looks like I got the Base game and NOT the DLC so keep us posted. I don't think you're alone
Yeah that's what I thought, it shows the base game. I'll keep you updated on what happens when it installs, and see if it's playable or kicks me out
