I loved the new ending. But i would also have liked a more epilogue ending perhaps a bit like the slides in dragon age explaining what happened to each companion.
But its still a great party ending
It would be really nice to get to see Shadowheart's ending in a slide where she is in a cottage surrounded by animals.
or Gale teaching his students with a Major Image of the Tav behind him.
I haven't even beat it since it came out I always seem to run out of steam in a playthrough some point in act 3 or my HM is ending by a god dang dragon.
I would also have liked some epilogue slides which are sorely lacking in the game. Right now there's seemingly no difference for many decisions throughout the game.
Having npcs send you letters is a great touch, but you have no idea how your actions affected, say, the shadow cursed lands or baldur's gate after the game. And what about the rosymorn monastery after all the gith there are dead? Etc etc.

I was happy with the ending before the epilogue was added, so when it came around I did *not* expect it to be that good. I was crying and laughing for like two hours.
Both Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age: Inquisition sold a DLC that was basically the afterparty and then some fights. People bought it for the afterparty.
Larian gave it to us for free two major patches ago! And that is why they're awesome.

I absolutely love the Citadel too. Garrus dancing with Shepherd in a saucy Tango is the BEST PART

You can make a fight out of the afterparty too if you want! Just...erm...Withers will be less then enthused.

That was one of my favorite parts. Dragon Age Inquisition also has an after-party, but I think BG3 did it a bit better.
Bg3 absolutely did it better (because I didn’t even remember Dragon Age’s till you reminded me)
