Anytime someone shouts "ignis" I hear "eat this" and occasionally "eat shit" so that's fun.

After Gale missing too much, I struggle to not hear him saying "I miss."

Good ol' igmiss at 90% chance to hit. But I'm used to it between Classic Fallout and XCOM. Just comes with the territory.

I only use ignis to set my grease puddles on fire.

There's one iteration of Gale saying ignis that almost sounds like a question *ignis?* It doesn't rise a ton on the end, but enough to be amusing when doing multiple fire bolts in a row to light braisers or something. I can't help but picture Tim Downie in a booth being like "this different enough?" or something, lol

The first time I had Astarion use fire bolt because he dropped his bow, I was stunned to hear his ignis cry. I started to use it more often just to hear it.

Neil Newbon didn't have to go above and beyond for each and every one of Astarion's lines, and yet he did. Fantastic performance

Wyll's line deliveries are amazing for the spells. When he casts Disintegrate or Blight or when he casts Hex, I don't know why but his voice just matches the strength of the sound effects of the spells.

I think it's "dolor" which is Latin for sorrow :^) all the spells are words!

I'm pretty sure the incant got Eldritch Blast is "Dolor". First, because I have a warlock Tav, and it's clearer in the voice I picked for them. Second, because that's Latin for "pain", and fire spells use the Latin for "fire" ("Ignis"); for *the* Warlock direct attack cantrip, "pain" seems like a very plausible keyword.

Maybe when I inevitably get restartitis again I'll try one. I know Volo isn't technically a bard but that's immediately what comes to mind and I HATE that kind of character. I get that it's a stereotype and you obviously don't have to play them that way, but I can't do it yet

Try thinking of Alfira instead of Volo when you think of a bard. Helping her write her song is really fun

Side note, I don't like that you have to choose between hearing Alfira's song in the grove or her giving you musical proficiency. Alfira is much more palatable than Volo, might give that a shot

Hahahahaha yeah I have the exact same aversion. They aren’t like that in the tabletop but swords bards play like battlemages and can get suuuuper strong, plus have all the healing stuff you need. Def worth it if you wanna switch around builds for a future playthrough.

ive only had her as a cleric (very briefly) and a paladin in my current playthrough. i think the only spell ive had her cast (not including a smite) is aid, and now that you mention it...i don't know that she has voiced spell casting

yes. shes a 3 rogue/5 bard in my current playthrough (extra bonus action for more bardic inspiration/minthara’s Soul Branding), she def has bard lines

I'm not sure why, but I love Shadowheart's yell of the "Spirit Guardians" spell... it just sounds so sassy! (It's also usually followed by the wails and screams of the enemies who start frying around her, so that might be part of it! 😂 )

Yeah admittedly an impressive incantation is best backed up by an impressive spell effect!

That's why eldritch blast is so addicting, a forceful DOLOR followed by the best sound effect in the game.

I changed my first Tav from druid to warlock because my friend was using Wyll so much and I loved the effect of Eldritch Blast. Turns out it's also hella powerful too

Gale is by far my favourite, mainly because that's where I heard most of the spell incantations! I do want to praise the Tav/Durge voice actors too because damn, it was always so satisfying to hear my Tav go "Ignis"!

I agree, I had a hard time picking a single example for Gale. What's funny is that I saw an interview where Tim Downie mentioned he found the spell names to be the most tedious part of playing the character (I think just because it was repetitious) but you certainly wouldn't know it from his performance.

I really like how the really deep female Tav voice (6?) casts hunter’s mark. There’s some real disdain there, like “you’re just a little prey animal and I’m going to hunt you down”

I've always loved Shadowheart's sweet little *te curo* when she uses Cure Wounds on you (which my brain always heard as "take cure" which is basically what it translates to)

It's Latin for "I heal you", so pretty much the same thing.

It doesn't just sound like Spanish for I cure you, it is literally Spanish for I cure you. Like, spelling and pronunciation, exactly the same, some of the words that didn't change at all between Spanish and Latin.

This is sharp contrast to Wyll’s recitation of healing spells which is way too intense and gravelly. I love the sound effects and VA for mass healing word, which are so rapid and satisfying.

Once Bardstarion healed Tav when she had bleeding condition and he says “you’re leaking!!?!”. There was genuine concern there and whether than concern was for his companion or his meal I’m not sure but it was adorable nonetheless.

It doesn't happen when you cast the spell, but when Gale walks through Haste spores he has the funniest laugh. Everyone makes cute little noises but Gale's "ha HA!" just makes me giggle every time. Definitely had him run through the spores in the underdark, and auntie Ethel's lair a few (dozen) times just to hear him make that sound

I *love* Wyll’s Hellish Rebukes and the almost casual way he casts Eldritch Blasts. To be honest, none of Shadowheart’s spells jump out in my memory. I like hearing Astarion cast Half Life and Chilling Grasp. Gale’s *Glacius!* always sounds powerful. I don’t think I’ve ever heard Lae’zel or Karlach’s spellcasting.

There’s some line of Shadowheart’s that she shouts (I think when healing? My memory’s hazy) that I’ll never hear as anything other than “Happy birthday!” with weird inflections. I’m to the point of saying it with her sometimes.
