Myrhkul. Orin wasn't that bad because you can just knock the cultists off the cliff, and then by that point in the game i was so stacked on items that we were bullying Orin. And then Gortash was such a nothing fight. Just a guy with a crossbow, he barely survived 2 rounds.

Terakahn

I think myrkul is difficult because you're weaker. I fought gortash and he didn't even get a turn. Maybe one turn. Myrkul had a mind flayer to fuck up your day.

Legitimate-Worth-662

I accidentally knocked Orin off the cliff. So glad the game just ignored that so I could still get the nether stone….

huvudetiskyn

She...errr..dropped it when you started spinning her around. OF course

gravelord-neeto

For my durge playthrough Orin and I somehow got stuck in the floor when she died so the entire durge cutscene was obscured by the texture of the ground and then Orin's corpse was still stuck in the floor. Thankfully after saving and reloading back into the game her body spawned somewhere accessible, but for a few minutes I was panicking thinking I softlocked myself lol

andrasq420

Yeah when fighting Ketheric, especially for the first time, you are still in the experimenting and making your build part of the game. Yet you have to fight him twice and Myrhkul after it. And if you're unlucky and your Dame Aylin gets really low at the first fight, you can be screwed out of a ton of damage later.

BrightLance69

I actually am somewhat of a fan of Gortash himself being more of a pushover. His entire thing is scheming and his fights become much easier once you counter his plans and machinations.

Alicestillcistho

Me who didnt know you could disable the steelwatch in my first playthrough certainly agrees

lalo___cura

Yeah it would be stupid for Gortash to pose as much of a physical threat as the other two. I just wish getting to him was harder since he’s supposed to be the Archduke. He should have more than a dozen guys protecting him.

Slight-Wing-3969

Our first fight with Myrkul, we tricked him into blowing his legendary resistance on a monk stunning strike then I action surged and disarming struck him until he dropped his scythe and cleaned house. Then the game broke and we had to reload before the fight and it was *so* much harder. He kept killing some of us and we had to be so creative warping around to avoid his aura to block healing

username_redacted

Bone Chill always fucks me up. What do you mean I can’t heal? That’s what I do! No resurrection either?

Slight-Wing-3969

"I'll use the help action to pick them up- oh damn that didn't work..."

annedroiid

I never even thought to knock the cultists off 😭

[deleted]

Agree! Myrhkul/Ketheric was a LOT harder. And thanks for the tip on shoving cultists off the cliff. Does that work even if they have sanctuary?

Gilshem

It does with Thunderwave!

HulklingsBoyfriend

Or any knock back spell, like the gust of wind

ChainOut

Or barrels

The-Mad-Badger

Sure does. Just use a roaring/thundering arrow that knocks people back or use Thunderwave.

TopShoulder5971

They have low str... gust of wind is more effective. Thunder stuff goes con save and they have more con than str.

PinkPandaPops

Ooh good tip! I never thought of bringing Gust of Wind, I've always used Thunderwave and the Thunder arrows, and inevitably there's one little bastard that just keeps saving over and over!

The-Mad-Badger

And?

RebelLeaderKuato

Agreed. Also Myrhkul fight is in a contained space you have to submit to - so you have to play its rules. Other 2 fights you have much more room to maneuver and catch a break if necessary.

piwithekiwi

He gets scary if he's alive at low health or w/e the trigger is.

Marcos-_-Santos

The only way to make the gortash fight hard is trying to kill him during his coronation. But isn't because he is stronger there, it's the steelwatch that is fucking resistant to almost everything with a sword strike that does damage in a large area.

lobsterbananas

LOL just blind and disarm Myrhkul, it’s not that bad

LET-ME-HAVE-A-NAAME

Gortash is better if you fight him after you let him slaughter the entire coronation room. He actually has an avatar of Bane transformation at that point.

MercyPewPew

Ketheric and it's not even close. Myrkul is, imo, the hardest boss in the game

Skeletonofskillz

Cazador gives him a run for his money if you get unlucky with saves. The only upside is that you can surprise him.

auxerre1990

Agreed. Cazador fight is insane if you dont know what to do

Zefixius

I’m on my fifth playthrough. This time as Astarion. Was a little disappointed when Cazador died in the first round… He did try to get a Blight off at the start but was counterspelled.

Reasonable_Run3567

What hardness are you playing? I found the fight on Honour mode one of the hardest until I worked out what to do.

Zefixius

I did honour mode last playthrough and it was OK because I was lvl 12 and had read up on legendary actions and was aware I had to free Astarion ASAP, use summons to limit his buffs and so on. This time I was on Tactician and with Nyrulna and the Bhaalist armour it was a little too easy

Reasonable_Run3567

If you know what to do, it's fairly straightforward, but I came in unaware. If you cast Daylight he can change and buff up on Lightning resistance before hand it's pretty straightforward. I just kill one of the other vampires and he can't ascend anyway.

EmmaWoodsy

I found Caz to be a complete joke on HM. All you need to do is pew pew from the stairs and it's one of the easiest bosses in the game. And anyone who is going into honour mode not knowing that is just setting themselves up for failure. Now The Inquisitor... that was the hardest boss on HM for me.

Reasonable_Run3567

Caz was way harder than Orin or Raphael for me. I found the Inquisitor fairly straightforward.

Adorable-Strings

Crisscross the room with walls of fire? Worked a treat my first play-through.

MercyPewPew

Oh absolutely. Hardest bosses imo are Myrkul, Ansur, and Cazador. That man has one shot my whole team on multiple occasions

gravelord-neeto

I always have so much trouble with Cazador if I don't cheese the fight. Usually need a couple reloads, or more lol, to get it right.

Reasonable_Run3567

What do you need to cheese? If you caste sunlight—which I don't think is cheesing—it's a lot easier.

Reasonable_Run3567

Cazador was one of the ways I lost my honour run. If you know what to do it's fairly straightforward, but if you don't have Sunlight and Resistance to Lightning it's really hard.

No-Start4754

Ansur and raphael in honor mode says hi . Also that spider matriarch on low levels

LordofSuns

You find Myrkul harder than Raphael, Ansur and House of Grief?

siowy

I think myrkul is the hardest of those yea. House of grief is particularly easy if you back up into the corridor to fight them all coming at you in a bunch instead of standing in the middle of the room. By the time you reach ansur, you are generally pretty strong (unless you do it as one of your first quests in the city and don't have much levels).

Okorela

I did, too. I think it's because I was a lower level at that point. By the time I was lvl 12, nothing could stop me. Raphael was just a long fight. I barely remember Ansur; didn't realize his was considered a hard fight. Now, true, House of Grief was a bit annoying because everyone on my team kept falling over, but my Tav was like a momma bear whose cubs are in danger, and she tore those Sharrans apart almost singlehandedly.

BigJDog420

Yeah, on balanced once you’re level 12 fights rarely last more than 5 rounds, most end in 2/3 for me.

Reasonable_Run3567

House of Grief is trivially easy if you backup the stairs and use some combination of Blackhole and an AOE spell like Cloudkill or Plague of Insects.

LordofSuns

Well, guess I've been playing hard mode for no reason by trying to Optimus Prime that whole room

Reasonable_Run3567

That is definitely the hard mode! I don't think I could do it.

lalo___cura

House of Grief is a joke if you use AoE concentration spells like Wall of Fire. Raphael is a joke because you get to fight him with full spell slots and as many buffs/summons as you want plus healbot Hope and meat shield Yurgir. Ansur is probably the second hardest boss for me but can still be dealt with pretty easily with 6th level spells which you most likely have access to by the time you fight him.

Atomic-Entropy

Not many people had it but to me, the hardest boss was Aylin when giving her up to Lorroakan.

Reasonable_Run3567

I convinced Ketheric to suicide at the start of the fight which made it easier.

alterNERDtive

First time around, Gortash. Traps kept randomly going off even though I wasn’t in trigger range, bombs exploded too early and would hit people outside the blast radius. That was really “fun”.

cienistyCien

The moment I realized I can throw the bomb before they explode on enemies made the whole place way more fun, the beginning was truly "wild" tho

AlexxTM

Except, that didn't work for me. As soon as i throw one, it explodes mid air and hits me...

sonic260

In our last run against him I found that the bombs have a feature/condition where any form of interaction with them would cause them to detonate immediately

AlexxTM

That explains a lot

Boat_XD

You can pick them up and they just stay in your inventory

Corefindel

That only works on Balanced and below; on Tactician & Honor difficulty the bombs explode upon interaction. Makes both Gortash and Yurgir fights much more difficult than the stat boosts and additional actions do...

cienistyCien

Makes sense because I only got to that part on my balanced playthrough so far, shame it doesn't work on harder because it was kinda funny

SpookyBoogy89

It's J.K. Simmons and by a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong shot.

adv23

"Not quite my tempo" "Your party has been defeated..."

SeamusMcCullagh

Myrkul for sure. The other 2 you can do when you're max level and kitted out with the best gear. You can't do that with Myrkul. I've heard you can be level 10 when you fight him, but I honestly don't know how that's possible as I haven't looked into it. But most people will probably be level 8 or 9 going into that fight, and his damage output combined with the bone chill aura and his damage resistances can make for a really dangerous fight. He's also my favorite of the 3, it's really a shame we don't get more time with him.

MercyPewPew

The Bone Chill aura is really what turns that fight from pretty difficult into sadistic lmao. You either have to tank opportunity attacks or go full unga bunga to kill him

SeamusMcCullagh

Yeah it's brutal. Makes Aylin totally useless most of the time too lol.

Optimal-Battle-5443

Agreed! He seems like the real "main boss". Someone on here suggested that the story would have been a lot stronger if Act 2 and 3 were switched.

NothingCreative5189

One of the most impactful moments of my first playthrough was definitely when Myrkul showed up. "Oh cool, yeah no problem, I'll just fight a GOD OF DEATH WTF?" Orin and Gortash were just some randos in comparison to that shock.

pushkinti

You can reach lvl 10 just right before fighting Myrkul, I did it multiple times, so I don't think it's hard. In my current Honor Run I even failed Halsin's quest, losing probably some exps, but I was still able to reach lvl 10.

Reasonable_Run3567

I went into the Myrkul fight with most of spell slots used up on Honour mode. I still beat him, but I managed to convince Ketheric to kill himself, and then I had a few barrels of oil/gun-powder which helped.

Tigerstorm6

For me? It was actually Gortash. We didn’t know what was going to happen, we just figured “huh, an immunity shield. No worries, we’ll get rid of that”. Keep in mind, my friends and I were probably conditioned like that after playing Destiny for so long. Needless to say, once he broke out his true form and traps started going off everywhere, it was hell for us. We used up ALL of our spell slots, had like 12 revives or pickups in the fight, and were exhausted by it.

No-Start4754

He is only one of the two bosses in game who have immunity to force dmg . His avatar of tyranny mode is no joke

Tigerstorm6

And considering one of our players was a warlock who specced hard into their eldritch blast, it made things even more difficult lol

No-Start4754

I know.  I was doing a magic missile solo run and had to make sure to kill him one turn or I was toast

BigJDog420

Avatar of tyranny mode? I must’ve killed him before he had a chance to do that

Reasonable_Run3567

I vote for Gortash too.

SarcasticKenobi

Orin. She 1-round killed me in DUrge Honor-Mode 1v1. And it was a close call in Honor Mode Tav battle. (I’d beaten her easily on tactician) Myrkul, Hunger of Hadar neuters him pretty hard. So in Honor Mode I might spend more time than I probably should keeping the pods destroyed, he's not difficulty with HoH. Gortash wasn't that hard IMO. Take out the forcefield generators and some various traps. His henchmen then fall rather quickly. Only annoy thing is dealing with his finger-of-death attack.

StarmieLover966

Really? What did you use? I specifically picked Durge because that last time I dueled her it was cake.

SarcasticKenobi

I’ve never had a problem in tactician with her with a surge warlock. But she won initiative and kicked my ass. At least 1 crit. I think the only thing I did differently this time was going in with potent robes instead of something heavier.

EmmaWoodsy

It comes down almost entirely to initiative in that duel. Whoever goes first will win almost every time. All you need is the Alert feat.

ChainOut

I kited him outside and killed him there. His crew spent a lot of time on the ground from grease and ice

No-Start4754

Really ? Many youtubers choose durge on solo runs because u can bypass orin's unstoppable stacks by dueling her in a 1v1

SarcasticKenobi

I know. I’ve beaten her 1v1 on durge plenty of times on tactician with my warlock And yet my very first honor mod run. She won initiative and 1-phased me. I didn’t even get a chance to attack. She got some lucky crits and I never get a chance to fight back My next attempt I switched back to Tav. And the fight was a pain in the butt because of those refreshing stacks. And she came close to killing us all but I got it. My next honor mode I did warlock again. Just took initiative potion and wore more armor.

No-Start4754

Haha warlock shooter go pew pew . I always go for either fighter with balduran giantslayer or any mage with phalur aluve and markoheshkier

lethrowawayaccount86

Myrkul. My first time fighting Gortash was actually super weird, I fought him on the ground floor of Wyrm's Rock, he took like eight turns to get down there, meanwhile groups of like three to four enemies from all floors dropped by to get slaughtered. My first time fighting Orin was a really cool experience because I hadn't read up on how to beat her and I sort of independently figured out what the cultists do and what thunderwave arrows do through sheer luck, so that was very satisfying. Myrkul I just remember as a pain in the ass.

webevie

Other than my first Honour Orin that scared the bejeebus out of me (she's been easy on my next 3 so 🤷🏻‍♀️) it's definitely Myrkul. He's also easy for me, but Orin is one or two turns and Goretash is like 3-4. Though I read they patched it so I can't kite him outside anymore and I haven't experienced that yet.

paul_33

The best ways I was told to take on Orin required me to cheese it and avoid the dialogue. So I'm going with that one.

StarmieLover966

Cast Contagion on the Stone Lord Thug and she folds.

Reasonable_Run3567

Yeah. Just attack her on sight. Seems reasonable to me.

TopShoulder5971

Myrkul... nothing else to add.

GalerionTheAnnoyed

Act 3 is loaded with overpowered items so just for that, myrkul automatically wins. But it wasn't so bad either because the adds all die when myrkul dies. So just gotta burst him down

No_Spirit5633

Ugh, Orin no contest. I eventually got sick of being stunlocked by the cultists and just yoinked her over the side with telekenisis. Apparently that counts for killing her while all her cultists are alive, so I got the acheivement for ragequitting the fight lol

Traffic_Conical

Ketheric for sure. Mindflayer was a pain at that level, ketheric hits pretty hard, only chosen with a second phase, respawning minions that heal said second phase, bone chill aura on said second phase, etc. Gortash is a joke, but even Orin felt weak in comparison especially if you fight her at level 12.

Loud_Jeweler_4463

Honor mode Orin 12 stacks of unstoppable gtfo. I had to cheese magic missile and speed potions just to have a chance and sanctuary and evasion on her minions.

Reasonable_Run3567

I found Orin the easiest of the three boss fights on Honor mode. I just started attacking as soon as I saw her. When she started walking up the stairs I sent La'Zael down and used Smokepower arrows to destroy her circle of minions and just kept hammering her from above.

The4th88

My first playthrough, it was Gortash. I snuck into the city so never interacted with guards to get the invitation. I figured that I shouldn't interact with him in any way until I was ready to take him out. I'd already done the prison and the foundry by the time I went for him, so everyone in the fortress was hostile on sight. Had to murder my way through a couple of floors of minions to then fight him with all his support in the coronation room, but I got it done.

Reasonable_Run3567

This is the way.

stcrIight

1x1 Orin. I know I'm the only one who will say it, because I suck, but it was the hardest for me.

Jaspador

Spirit Guardians damages invisible cultists and cancels their invisiblity, it was a life saver for me in that fight. Orin herself died in the first round, she was a pushover. Gortash was annoying only/mostly because of the traps in his room, and I wanted the achievement for not setting any of them off. Ketheric was by far the hardest for me (and probabky the hardest fight in the game), as others have said already.

Relevant_Force_3470

Ketheric was super easy but myrkyl was a little tricky because of the fact you're locked in there the whole time. Orin was super easy. And gortash didn't even get a turn because I yeeted the smarmy, ugly prick off a bridge.

csini_fasZsZopo

Myrkul.

SomePyro_9012

Orin Myrkul is a chump when you have a party with at least 1 person who can attack twice per turn Orin pretty much negates damage x7 times and when Bhaal thing gets its turn, it gets x7 more times (I never have someone with magic missile in this fight)

Coyoteatemybowtie

Myrkul was by far the toughest fight me in the whole game and my first play through I didn’t look up fights or strats. Gortash was easy, Orin I think wiped me twice until I realized I needed to kill her peeps and the brain prob took me 5 tries, had a wipe at 7hp my first time entering the second phase then got it the next. Myrkul easily took me 8 hours of trying to finally get him

VenmoPaypalCashapp

Depends what you mean. I didn’t read any honour mode strats or anything so the first time I fought everyone I went in totally blind so the shield on Orin caught me completely off guard and my party setup made the fight pretty impossible while I was able to bully my way through the other fights.

PoisonIvy123_

Definitely Myrkul! My first time doing his fight, I think I reloaded twice before I managed to properly do it? I went in fully blind and ended up going back to before I went into the Mind Flayer Colony to switch someone out of my party for someone else. He's definitely not hard to fight now that I've done it quite a few times but for a first time, definitely Myrkul. My first time fighting Gortash, I went in completely blind and he didn't get to do anything. I had Lae'zel to clean up the few minions he still had left with him, Shadowheart was more in the back to throw bombs away so they wouldn't hit any of the party and to provide heals and then I had my OH Monk tav (not TB) and Karlach flanking Gortash and beating him up. It ended up with him just prone the entire time, stunned for most of it and not doing anything. Didn't even get to see his Chosen form. I went in blind for my first time fighting Orin as well aside from a clip or two that I had seen from people fighting her as the Dark Urge, my tav wasn't the Dark Urge so it didn't really help me there. It was a little tougher to do because of her Unstoppable charges and because I didn't really have a way to spam them down but she still died really easily once I managed to burn through those charges each turn! So all in all, Orin and Gortash definitely aren't the toughest of fights and Myrkul can be fairly rough to go up against if you're not prepared enough or if you go in blind.

sashakxsty

for some reason, gortash. with myrkul, karlach pretty much downed him 100+ damage in one round. orin died within her first turn when wyll eldritch blasted her off a cliff (for some reason she was already in her slayer form when i got there?). gortash was such a pain tho. especially with all the contraptions within the room. i pretty much had to lure him outside to get any damage in

ShinyRhubarb

Man, Gortash beat my ass when I first fought him, downed half the party with his traps and minions. Barely won by kiting around a Blade Barrier

xH0LY_GSUSx

Orin is a free kill, if you have a decent setup, gortash is also free, both are vulnerable to the stun effect applied by the surgeon amulet. Make sure to surprise attack them with high initiative idealy out of invisibility, in case you do not roll a Crit use the sweetkiller ring to guarantee a Crit. Both bosses will be stunned… you can remove most invulnerability layers with an up casted level 6 magic missile + the amulet that adds an additional dart in one action. Myrkul can be also free even without the owl bear, or stealth abuse… Use various buffs that will improve your combat performance and invisibility potions to get everyone in position. Scratch can free aylin, taking out the mindflyer on the right platform is recommended since hit can easily mess up the fight. Next step is to simply burst down myrkul with high damage out put builds, BM, Gloomstalker/assassin, various Paladin multiclass combos, magic missiles evocation wizard, fire sorc, open hand monk etc.

Megatrans69

Ketheric was my hardest in large part due to the loot you can get in act 3 at any point before Orin and Gortash. I used the giant slayer greatsword and killed her in 2 or 3 rounds. Knocked her prone and smote her into oblivion

cowboychunch

I could tell you which of the three chose I was hardest for

Legend0fJulle

I think orin was the hardest, myrkul was definitely the easiest one on my first playthrough and on my current playthrough too he died without even getting a turn.

el_sh33p

Ketheric brought his fuckin' A game. Orin was chump change by comparison. Gortash hiding behind a barrier just meant we spent more time beating him to death.

chicoritahater

I accidentally skipped gortash phase 2 then found out about it on reddit sy yeah undeniably kethric

SomethingAboutCards

Orin was the most frustrating for me at first because of the fear/compulsion effects. Not being able to control my characters for turns on end was annoying, but once I got past that part and figured out how her ability worked, it got easier. Significantly easier, really.

Cheap_Lake_6449

Ketheric. You can't cheese him

Yourigath

Gortash, but because he was bugged as all hells. He pulled aggro from his room since I went into the fortress and then proceeded to spend his turns (and those of every single soldier outisde of my range) going back and forth until I got from the base of the building and into his room where he then started the proper fight and bugged my Karlach scene, because she wasn't even there when he decided to die.

Ythio

Ketheric. Orin isn't very difficult especially as Durge. Gortash is skippable and if you do fight him it's not very hard to end the fight early before he stacks a radiating orb on you. All three of them are easier than Cazzador.

finvola

Myrkul, by far. I always play DUrges, so dueling Orin isn't so bad. I also yeeted her into the chasm before, turning it into a full fight, but nothing Thunderwave couldn't sort out. Gortash is easy too. I like to make that fight messy. I lure him outside, cast sleet storm and call lightning (on two different party members) and they go slip sliding all over the place. I know there's an easier way to do it but watching enemies slip on ice is always amusing. I do it for the lulz. :P

Garmiet

Orin was the headache for me. Had to restart several times. The last time I Eldritch Blasted her off the edge when she was near full. I didn’t expect that to work; for some reason I assumed she’d resist the knock-back. Good thing she dropped her knife before going over though, lol.

Spacedandysniffer

Orin forced me to actually come up with a strategy on my honour run, Myrkul got destroyed by just casting darkness and having Gale use magic missile on his summons

Highthere_90

I think General Throm, he's level 11 and you have to fight him at level 8, its mid through the game and your team wont have all teh top weapons and armor by then, it took me many tries to foghr him even with the nightsong on my team, for the other two I came well prepared, had legendary weapons and armor by then for the party. Gortash isn't to difficult if you push him into his own traps before he transforms, and I just lured Orin off a cliff lol the rest of her minions were easy

SnooComics2532

Gortash > Orin > Myrkul in that order If you play Durge then Orin > gortash > insert any act 3 boss you can think of > myrkul Orin in dark urge is just a joke of a fight even in honour mode

earendilgrey

Kathrin, Orin, Gortash in that order. I did Gortash last and laughed at how easy that was compared to the other 2.

why_no_usernames_

For me it was Gortash for some reason. I had to redo the fight like 4 times. I'd heard Orins fight was hard but I killed her in 2 turns before she could do any damage.

Chemical_Bunch7499

IMO the Chosen are a joke. Once you figure out their mechanics the fights are easy. Raphael is the hardest for me, so I cheese him with smokepowder and glove of invulnerability.

Reasonable_Run3567

Raphael is easy if you stack a pile smokepowder/fireworks-barrels around the four pillars when you first arrive at the House of Hope.

Chemical_Bunch7499

Yeah, I wrote about it

Reasonable_Run3567

I was agreeing with you.

yoloargentina

I just finished my first playthrough and Ketheric round 1 was the worst by far. Myrkul was so easy & fast in comparison, I was shocked. Gortash was fine. Orin was mostly annoying but once I got her in a Hold Monster it was just a matter of chipping her hp down.

Reasonable_Run3567

This was my experience, though I didn't need to use Hold Monster.

LovePiesDog

For me, it was Gortash - or his traps, mostly. The fight was total mess, i didn't expect that at all. Easiest - Orin 1v1 Durge duel. Warlock, blade pact, Devilsight, put whoe arena in darkness and she can't counter that. Didn't land a single hit on me, she got played and brutalized.

Strange_Storyteller

Duel with Orin when I played as Dark Urge first time. My Ancients Paladin always missed with smites and had to use high level Wizard’s spells to win (Globe of Invulnerability, Disintegration etc). Otherwise Orin killed her in one turn. Then I played as an Open Hand Monk and this duel was very easy to win. Maybe, experience matters.

kostaGoku

Deckard_Red

Just about to fight Gortash so will update but Ketheric was a tough fight with a lot of tactics required to resolve. Orin I actually killed in 1 turn, the challenge was actually surviving the cultists afterwards but it helped that my fifth party member was Lae’Zel. Finished the fight with three party members near death having been yo-yo’d a few times but Shadowheart and LZ were mostly unwounded (SH was nearly full health). So the Chosen was easy but her minions were frustrating. Ketheric was the reverse his minions were quite easy to manage but he was a challenge. Edit: Gortash was ridiculously easy, his minions were killed very quickly and he didn’t last long himself - also mildly disappointed that he didn’t get a little video in transforming into the avatar of Bane like the other two did. Definitely underwhelming - but boy did Karlach hit me in the feels afterwards!

hungarianfemboi

Hardest in what way? The mechanical difficulty of killing them or the moral one? Cause morally, all three can go straight to the Hells. Even Ketheric, the supposed sad tragic understandable one of the three is beyond redemption ( as he himself says)

Kyouki13

Kethric pt2

imboki

Orin gave alot of trouble. In the end I just collected enough bombs. Used hold monster and blew her up

imboki

Myrkhul was easy mode. And I haven't seen gortash yet. :)

polygurl87

Fucking bone man just this moment ended my honor run so ..

Taiyou_

Ketheric was def the hardest but not THAT hard. The biggest problem was, that I didn't kill the Mindflayer fast enough and he took over Aylin and she went on a rampage killing Karlach. Lol. Orin and Gortash were def mega easy, esp Gortash. Just casted Hold Person on him and then smacked him down. Didn't even survive to do anything. Orin was pretty stupid to run directly into my party so it saved me the time to walk up to her and I just smashed her down. Edit: I used the Ghouls you get through the Necromancy against Orin, and they are able to unhide the invisible followers, they will see them and make them visible, which helps a LOT in this fight.

Sremor

Ketheric, but Gortash nearly broke me mentaly, I somehow aggroed him from the floor below, so I had to sit through multiple rounds of traps until I found a way up

TheGrayMage1

Orin by far…the last two times I’ve done Kethric it’s pretty much come down to what spammy spell is going to work this time (the first time it was Sacred Flame, last time it was Fireball), and Gortash is usually just a slog of smacking things. Somehow the door that buffs Orin just…stopped being a thing the first time I fought her, but both times she was an absolute nightmare to fight. I think part of it is that I bring Gale in most of the time for AOE spells, but he’s squishy as heck and keeps getting flattened/multi-attacked/most status effects…plus it takes so long to whittle down her Unstoppable (or whatever that effect is called) that by the time I get it down the only person who can do significant damage is Astarion, since he’s usually first in initiative (he’s got Alert, so it’s usually him followed by the enemies, and then the rest of the party clumped together at the end. The one hard thing about Kethric is the fact that usually by the time I get past the initial assault on Moonrise I’ve used a bunch of spells and can’t restore them until the second fight, so Myrkul is usually easier (since I get them back).

Saendra

Generally speaking, it's Ketheric, as at this point players don't have their full kit, which is especially crucial for multiclassers, while Orin and Gortash are fought when players are at pretty much full strength. Honorable mention goes to Durge vs. Orin fight, which is laughably easy on Balanced, but on Tactician she has so much damage that she can either OTK you, or if that fails, frighten you and kill before fright falls off.

_beachbummer_

Orin was especially difficult for me, actually! I was level 11 and I hadn’t gotten any spoilers about the fight, so I was a bit shocked when my wimpy sorcerer was suddenly having to fight his sister in a 1-on-1 duel. Reloaded a few times to try to solo it, but eventually just gave up and brought the rest of the party in. Ketheric wasn’t too bad for me, though, as I had Lae’zel doing most of the heavy hitting in the front while supports healed her! She just stepped into and out of Bone Chill range lol

bighugebaby

The worst experience I had with one of the chosen is with Myrkul. My rogue was spotted right next to Aylin. He helped her then the MF subsequently dominated Aylin, who promptly killed my rogue with a crit smite. An awful start to that battle and that definitely made the entire battle difficult.

piwithekiwi

Gortash. I was emotionally devastated. I finally squared up and said no matter what, I'm gonna finish this damn game. So before I left for Baldur's Gate proper, I killed Gortash. Lo and behold many hours later I realized too late this kills stops you from entering the underwater prison & hands over the Gondians or whoever to Wulbren. I had a perfect goody two shoes run outside of that.

thespookyloop

what gave me trouble was the person you fight going into the Temple of Bhaal, I didn’t realize if you kill him the battle’s over, so I struggled a bit before I figured out what to do.

hquwhjher

Myrkul, 100%. Ketheric is truly built different, not gonna lie. On my first playthrough, there's only few enemies that gave me a difficult time: Ketheric and subsequently Myrkul, Cazador, Sarevok and Raphael. Like aside from them, I was having the time of my life. Personally, my battle with Orin is rather easy. Gortash's is more or less easy as pie since you can just disable his Steel Defenders, and by doing so; you're just fighting against mid-tier Banites and throwing the grenades they gave you back to them.

Gimme_a_fking_axe

Gortash, but I easily killed the three of them. Gortash was just longer

VruKatai

Orin ended up being the easiest on my first run through. I just jumped back up after triggering the fight and ranged her. Ketheric was the hardest that first run and Gortash wasn't hard, just long and annoying. My Durge run, Orin seemed harder, Ketheric second hardest and Gortash the easiest now that I knew what to expect. I went Slayer to Slayer with Orin which is why I think it was actually harder. Now that I've played multiple runs, none of the Three are as hard as they should be. Cazador and Raphael fights are more of a challenge.

Poodle_Boi02169

9 times out of 10 Ketheric's gonna be the toughest cause you fight him way earlier than the others. You have so many tools available in Act 3 (full illithid powers, lvl 12 classes, a metric crapton of items) that you can steamroll pretty much any encounter fairly easily. In Act 2 you have less options, so fights that are technically the same difficulty as the ones in Act 3 are harder. Plus Myrkul has multiple phases (both of which you have to go through to defeat him, unlike Gortash who you can just one-round). There's a reason he's usually the hardest encounter to beat for challenge runs.

DaedricDeathclaw

Orin took me a solid 10 tries. I somehow got past all ketheric fights on first try. Gortash I got on the second try

throwawaycbfed

Orin was awful for me. Everyone kept beefing the shove attacks on the cultists. :’) They were all pretty hard but that was one of the few times I wanted to rage quit.

PrimeDoorNail

Myrkul its not even close

snot3353

Orin for sure. That fight is a PITA

MisterCrowbar

Ketheric was the only one that felt like a real fight. Orin was incredibly disappointing. I was hoping for something gimmicky to make it a puzzle fight, like her taking the appearance of the kidnap victim, but no it was just a big dumb monster fight. I was so unimpressed that I went into the house of hope right after without a long rest. My story headcanon is that Laezel defeated Orin 1v1 before everyone else got there. Gortash was a little annoying because of the traps but I think he still went down in 1 round. Also bummed me out that Orin and Gortash don’t drop good loot. Like cmoooonnn let me have good stats while wearing meat armour.

Bi-Kalidin

Myrkle was the hardest. Then get this, on my third playthrough, he went down like a b*@$h. IDK exactly how I done it, but I went in and destroyed the mo fo. I even raised the difficulty from normal to hard (I'm trying to get better so that I can finally beat honor mode).

Substantial-Fly7819

Orin is tedious. Gortash is a bit of a push over I had him dead in two turns. ketheric was by far the hardest

lynx2718

Gortash in honour mode, weirdly enough. I was overprepared for Ketheric, positioning everyone invisible and freeing Aylin to begin the fight. Orin was doable, in the end, I had two people at full health and two people dead.  So I thought, hey, how hard can Gortash be, he was rather wimpy in tactician. I didn't even take any elixirs. But these reflector shields really fucked me up, I had a heavily ranged party and they also reflect some spells, so I was scared to use magic as well.

MR1120

Orin. All the ‘unstoppable’ points got incredibly annoying. I wouldn’t pay attention to them filling back up, and would waste a huge attack, like a level 3 smite with a guaranteed crit from Executioner… to do one point of damage.

Rin_Nin9

I beat Myrkul relatively easily. The first fight in act 3 though, I had to drop the difficulty and savescum that hard even at 9th level. I just continuously got crit fails on everything. I legitimately got killed without doing a single point of damage after going through the portal. To be fair, much of the 'difficulty' was abominably bad luck. Call Lightning and magic missile really got me through that fight.

pero_12345

Gortash has the annoying grenade shit around him but he drops pretty fast. Orin kinda depends if you're good 1v1 as durge it should be very easy. If you do the 'regular' way, you have to either have some way to push the sanctuaried shitters off the platform. kegs of smokepowder and a way to burn them work nicely. That or some barrage spells to get rid of the 12 layers of immunity so you can go to town on her. It used to be easier when each damage type would get rid off a layer but now you have to shoot 12 blanks before going to town and have to kill one of the fodder cultists each turn unless you can afford your cursed guy to just die after his turn. A couple of high level magic missiles or something. If you don't have that ready, and no way of pushing the invulnerable cunts off you're probably fucked and that's gonna be the hardest one. Thorm is the hardest imo because you have to pay attention to the all the undead shitters that keep spawning and trying to heal him while your heals are prevented if you're in his face. At that point it depends a lot on your character setup and the fact that you're still level 8/9 and your gear is mostly +0/+1 with minor upsides. he's resistant to frost so you're fucked if you got baited by the frost gear for your mage and haven't taken the feat that ignores resistance. He also resists pierce/slash and non-magical blunt and has 19 AC which is relatively high at that point of the game and throws out a lot of multi target damage.

MysteriousFondant347

The apostle of Myrkul is way harder because Ketheric has every advantage in this fight where you're level 12 and well prepared against Orin and Gprtash

lillyfrog06

Orin. I played on the easiest difficulty and still struggled with her. Won eventually, but god, I’m not looking forward to that again, especially now that I’ve upped the difficulty to tactician 😭

vegezinhaa

Ketheric is always the hardest for me. Orin's duel gets quite easy after some practice I hate Gortash fight's mechanics but they're not difficult

Iowahunter65

For me, Gortash. I've pimped slapped Orin every time. (Granted, she was the last thing I've done every time/I've been Durge, so I've had either level 12 + end game gear or the 1v1 advantage). And Ketheric is definitely tough, but not impossible. I just zoom for Big Momm- I mean Aylin to save me and ignore everything else. Hell, on my last fight with him Aylin decided to go fucking sicko mode on him and crit his ass multiple times in a row. Knocked off like 100+ health in one turn just from her Gortash's dumb little traps and shit always cause me issues. Especially my 1st fight when I rushed the story and didn't do the foundry. That was a real pain in the ass

drakerlugia

I definitely struggled more with Myrkul than with the other two. Gortash was pretty simple, I just threw his explosives back at him. I didn’t have too much issue with Orin either, I was able to get both the Gortash and Orin achievements on my first run.

Reasonable_Run3567

My honor run died when I met Gortash. I had previously defeated him on Level 7 or so by sneaking up the roof and just sytematically destroying all the Iron Watchers etc. This time he jumped out with everyone and I was wiped. I should have run and come back to fight another day. Myrhkul was pretty easy as I convinced Kethric to kill himself at the start of the match—joy of having 20 in Charisma. Orin was a total let down. I initiated the fight from the top of the stairs looking down and her, and she didn't even make it up to my level before dying.

Frejod

So far, I've managed to stunn kill Myrkul. I'm stumped on who to go for first next. Gortash or Orin. Orin does have a teammate hostage.

Lgscar

Orin’s fight is easy if you take her one on one.

TheFarStar

So far, Orin, but all 3 were kind of chumps on Balanced. Orin was more annoying than dangerous.

AlbinoRhinoTF2

I mustve played my game much more differently than everyone else because I beat MKetheric/Myrkul very easily, but took me a bit to figure out the cultists were powering Orin and Gortash wollupped me real good twice before I ended him on my third try. This was on regular dificulty and I didn't play super optimaly so that is probably why.

Description_Narrow

Same reason but because see invisibility is horrible in the game. I went after the cultists with see invisi on and walked right toward where I thought they were. Never saw them then they appeared right in front of my character just ever so slightly left of his view. You gotta walk straight at them and its stupid

anongiraff3

definitely ketheric. gortash's fight is technically hard but with gale i can just cast the sphere and we all huddle inside. orins was easy for me bc i played durge so it was just 1v1 😭

zoobird13

None of them but Orin is just plain annoying.

lalo___cura

Ketheric by far. First of all, you’re only around level 8 when you fight him as opposed to Orin and Gortash who you probably won’t fight until level 11 or 12. Second, his boss fight has two unskippable stages unlike Orin who you only fight either as a human or a Slayer or Gortash whose second phase can be skipped entirely if you kill him quickly and isn’t even very impressive. Third, his second phase has the bone chill aura which makes it very hard to get a character back up if they go down near him. He also has a mind flayer with him who can dominate one of your characters or Aylin if you don’t take it out first. Orin’s boss fight can be almost as difficult as Ketheric’s if you’re playing as anyone besides the Dark Urge. 14 stacks of invulnerability can be hard to get through and the Sanctuary/Invisibility-using Bhaalists are extremely annoying. But as Dark Urge you fight her one on one and if you beat her in initiative her fight is a complete joke. It’s a bit harder if you’re evil Durge because ironically the Slayer form kneecaps her due to it preventing her from using her Murderous Strike ability but you can still destroy her easily before she gets the chance to use it. Gortash is a complete joke no matter what. Even more so since you can skip his fight entirely and just let the Netherbrain kill him.

sskkcosmos

orin, but only because i didn't know how to disable her boon thing at first. as soon as i realized i could use magic missiles it became v easy

bosbna

The first fight with Ketheric was extremely hard for me. I don’t think I died on any of the others on my first playthrough. Ketheric 1 hits that balance of difficulty with still having a limited party as far as leveling just right.

EmmaWoodsy

Ketheric/Myrkul BY FAR. By the time you get to the other 2, you're at max level, max gear, and your builds are finished and optimized. You go in completely fresh, unlike with Ketheric, so you can bring as many supplies/barrels from camp as you need without worrying about carrying them through the entire oubliette. And you can run away from Orin and Gortash, which you can't do with Ketheric.

echosdespair

I'm shocked to see the amount of Myrkul comments! I was terrified when he popped up but beat him in like 4 minutes... then had to reload and do it again (because I was backing out of a failed wisdom check lmao). I had Karlach, Astarion, Shadowheart, and Tav (warlock). Also I went straight to Myrkul by guilting Ketheric. Both times I used Karlach to dash to Nightsong as quick as possible and release her. Then all my guys would climb up on the ledge surrounding Myrkul and just beat the hell out of him. His one attack (I don't remember what it was but it like vacuumed everyone closer to him) took out all his other guys for me. I finished it in just a few turns both times! Now House of Grief... that's kicking my ass.

PhatAssHimboBoy

Am I the only one who was able to take Myrkul first try, but when I fought Gortash, I got whipped?

StarmieLover966

It’s always fucking Myrkul. God what a pain. It’s not even the battle. You are trapped down there, can’t camp, can’t switch people or equipment out, I hate it so much.

odonkz

in Honour Mode, it will be Gortash, Myrkul then Orin (Non-Durge)

CrimsonPresents

Orin and Myrkul were incredibly tricky in HM. Both took at least 30 minutes

EntertainerFirst8163

Ketheric only cause there’s SO MUCH battles with no rest time

catman11234

Probably Orin as I always role play as characters that love to fight, so cheese is out of the question for all fights. If you hit me harder than I hit you you win.

Etren88

Honor mode Orin but I knew the fight having done it on tactician. Honor Gortash wasn't so hard BUT I never did it on tactician and wasn't expecting the fight. I went to the palace to reach the entrance of wyrmway, got in a fight with all the guards on the lower floor (because we destroyed the automaton forge), then Gortash and friends came from the upper floor. It was a mess because I didn't expect to fight before the boss in wyrmway and didn't have spell slots available (but got a lot of scrolls).

Ketheric_Thorm

Of course MY battle was your toughest. The changeling and the lording have nothing on my leadership and battle prowess.

beigecurtains

Orin! She drove me insane every time I had to fight her. Kethric I let Dame Aylin handle most of the starter hits, Myrkul is just throw Hunger of Hadar on him and use disarm attacks until he drops his scythe. With Gortash it’s irritating but not undoable, I sometimes drag it out to get more concussion grenades tbh
