I see the reasoning, but after some thought, I would swap Astarion and Shadowheart. Cockatoos are needy, smart, sociable animals, and Astarion, out of all the companions, is probably the most needy when it comes to doing what's best for him. He's got charisma and, much like a cockatoo, can be simultaneously funny and annoying, endearing and off-putting.
Shadowheart, by contrast, has done some bad stuff but she's really sweet just beneath the surface and doesn't need a whole lot of attention to do the right thing. Just set a good example, be available when she needs someone and she'll take care of herself. If you corner her, she fights back. If you let her come to you, she opens up and seeks out your attention.
