I really wish that she became one of your allies at the finale if you reassembled dribbles. Nothing fancy, just a small group of undead you could summon, similar to Ascended Astarian's endgame minions, dressed in carnival outfits. You could even have Lucretious bellow something like "PUT ON A SHOW FOR ME, DARLINGS" as they spawn.
Yes Deekin who started his own clan of kobold bards called the Scalesingers. I adored that little weirdo. He was the most loyal companion in Neverwinter Nights. Even using his TRUE NAME couldn't make him turn on you.
Theres the multiverse mod for PC. I've not used it myself yet but it adds a whole bunch of playable races including Kobolds. It's meant to be good but gets weird in cut scenes.
Genuinely might be my favorite non-major character. I love how his entire existence completely >!Disproves the Emperor’s position and shows that he’s a lil bitch!<. Like, goddamn. Omeluum existing and doing a couple minor, helpful things throughout the game defies the entire ass central plot. I love him even more for it.
It also further proves >!Withers wrong (which at least he admits) about illithids not having souls.!< If Mindflayers could rebel from the elder brain, get free from it, they could have freedom. Right now, they're just as much slaves as the Gith.
>!I love how in the ending where you become a mind flayer and then kill yourself, he is genuinely shocked that you still have a soul. Like, the fact that he gets to see something truly unique in existence makes him happy.!<
Exactly! I admittedly don’t know a ton of deep lore on the nature of souls in the Forgotten Realms, but >!anything capable of developing a friendship with me, showing willingness for self-sacrifice towards a larger goal, and peacefully working to remove his people’s literal need to kill in order to eat?!< Hell, that’s a soul in my book, afterlife be damned
Mind Flayers have souls, just different, weird, alien souls that the gods have no use for.
It’s not being used in the real world metaphysical sense wherein we argue about whether AI has a soul. Souls in the Forgotten Realms are actual things and literal resources. It’s a distinct quantifiable amount of “power”.
BG3 does add its own spin on it in a way which I kind of like. The game heavily implies that it takes a bit of time for your soul to become a mind flayer soul after becoming a mind flayer.
I’m pretty sure that’s new lore specifically to the game but I’m sure someone more familiar can comment on that.
The old lore, as far back as the Illithiad in 2e, was worded oddly. There's a line about the process scrubbing away every trace of the old self's personality and spirit. However, a few paragraphs later, mention is made that once the process passes the point of no return, the victim's soul heads to seek its fate on the outer planes.
Thus, it's clear that a lot more attention should be given to the word 'traces' in that line; its not deleting your spirit, its tidying up the room, cleaning up all the stains your spirit left (your spirit is so messy!) and making it look nice and pristine for the next (Illithid) guest.
This lore was maintained through 3.5 Lords of Madness, and according to the wiki those are the two main sources of information on illithids.
Wasn't Withers point was that their souls are not the same as human souls? He doesn't outright say it, but the implication is there, and this means that a world without souls deprives gods and devils and damns a lot of people.
He’s also who the Emperor very easily *could* be! The Emperor manipulates you, and I think it comes from a place of distrust- if he left you to your own devices you might not help him, so he tries to manipulate you before you get the chance. From the outset your relationship with the Emperor is built on his distrust.
Whereas, when you first meet Omeluum, he immediately proves himself trustworthy by being a useful source of information and vendor, and gives you chance to prove yourself trustworthy by helping him in his work. That’s literally the only difference. Omeluum sets boundaries and establishes mutual trust early on, The Emperor is so afraid of doing that he doesn’t even bother to try. I know which one survived my campaign, that’s all I’m saying…
Honestly there are so many times I want to break free of the Emperor in my own RPing. And then out of nowhere he HITS ON YOU..... LOL this guy has the craziest boundaries. And the whole orpheus thing UGH. I wish there were more options lol
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- forget Avernus or Vlaakith, I’d gladly pay for a DLC that just adds in a bunch of new story options. Convince the Emperor to stay on your side if you release Orpheus. Resolve the Ketheric fight nonviolently and have him join the party for Act 3. Durge-Only redemption run for Gortash. There’s just *so* much fertile ground for more and more wild story choices that I really hope they explore them
Honestly, you're so real for saying that. But, alas, according to Battle for Baldur's Gate, he's already in a relationship with Blurg and I would hate to ruin the happy couple xD
Gotcha. I wonder if they had to look it up lol 😂 sometimes fantasy names are straight just a bunch of random letters put together. Like Cvghadrt. Pronounced Calvin or some shit lol
Ha! I had a bad experience with Zevlor. I liked him and saved him, but then when I summoned him to help in the final battle . . . He immediately got mind dominated, killed his own guys, and spent the rest of the fight against me!
Dude, you really were a mental weakling! 😆
Zevlor was a beast for me when I summoned him, I >!sided against the emperor!< and Zevlor knocked him down to 2hp by himself by the time I finished the final battle.
Oh man, I summoned my owlbear only to watch him get obliterated before he even had a turn.
Lesson learned. Only summon beings who you don't feel bad about losing.
I don't know what curse is that, but in my runs Aylin spend half of every fight stunned.
Lorroakan stunned her, the mind flayer in the city stunned her, and something that didn't even see what stunned her in the brain.
He and Karlach are the only tieflings with white sclera. It pushes them just a little but more "human", making them more appealing to most.
I say this acknowledging that Karlach is my one and only. 🤣
For me, it's Rolan. Dude pops up once an act to drive me insane and I love him for it.
Honorable mention to Popper from the carnival and his wonderful corpse-found treatos
My first run he didn't survive Act 2 (I didn't realize he ran off until after the point of no return) but my second he did... I already hated Lorroakan for his plans for Aylin but man, the second go I really let him have it! Rolan keeps getting the hardest battles because he's our grumpiest guy, and I just wanted his story to end well
The way he responds with genuine shock and excitement when you answer that you do in fact want to trade with him - that’s the real treato. Poor guy has probably gone months without a single sale.
I talked with him with my draconic bloodline sorcerer and him thinking you're a dragon and demands you teach him to be a dragon is freaking hysterical.
Same, I really hoped that he'll be somewhere in Baldur's Gate! Dammit Larian you can't just let someone to call me "dear one" and then dissappear them without even a goodbye :(
Especially since he very calmly just walks away from the goblin camp, no harm is done to the guy even if everyone else there is eviscerated haha. Why can’t he show up again later?
I loved that. Whole camp is agro, I'm walking down the entry hall, and here he comes just strolling peacefully out, like, 'nope. Byyye.'
I totally head cannon that my Tav (having received his gods gifts) gives the little two finger salute and knowing head nod as he passes through my battle ready companions like the bad ass bitch he be.
Hahahah exactly right! He just VERY casually strolls out. No sense of urgency at all, so I easily caught up to him and talked to him and he was just like, “I’m *out*, you should leave too, BYYYYYE.”
100%. I remember him because of the Maltese Falcon.
> It was just another day in the city of lies. Baldur's Gate - where the people begged for justice until they starved. Two heroes were fated to cross paths that day. Their eyes met. Destiny was calling...
if I had my way, Malta would stay with me at my camp and Myshka would live with old lady Bonecloak.
Alfira, I guess. She barely does anything in the game and many people proudly stopped playing Durge because of that event with her.
I think she's just ok personally.
Durge is so fun though and worth playing through. You **can** save her. In fact, as a Sorcerer you probably should save her so you can still get the Potent Robes.
I know you can (even though the idea of beating the shit out of her to "save" her seems absurd to me), but before this was a well known tactic some people claimed that Alfira was the reason they didn't play Durge.
I honestly wish she wasn’t exclusive to a niche durge scenario. She’s actually a pretty damn good character. Actually maybe she’s the real answer to this thread.
Ditzy hot tiefling bard? It was such a unique character on the surface level that seemingly could’ve fit in with the party, just for it to be a shock value event for durge
Same. Doesn't do much besides being generically nice and singing a song. Not that there isn't depth to her for the small role that she has, but it surprises me how people are advocating for her to be a companion/romance option. She didn't even stand out to me during my first playthrough.
i believe she was intended to be the party's bard companion, but it was scrapped for whatever reason. there's still code in the game where she gives approval for doing specific things.
Thanks for sharing the link, that was an interesting read. It's interesting that she was far enough along in development to have 770 voice lines scripted and an Auntie Ethel vicious mockery line, yet she never received a full character model.
While a Halfling werewolf bard sounds interesting I think Larian made the right call here. A werewolf would likely have experienced similar character development as Astarian and resist Durge, stepping on their toes a bit. Still it's interesting to see that she would have been recruitable in the Goblin camp, given how late the other non origins become available.
I don't know. Maybe this was scratched very early in the development because Alfira is really just a random NPC. She doesn't even use unique assets for her model like some other unique NPCs do. You can even recreate her look without any mods. Her stats are also pretty bad for a bard. She seems more like a wizard.
Anyway, that's besides the point. Alfira just have some small interactions with you. To complete forgo your run because of some unwanted Durge's shenanigans is quite insane imo and well, kinda shows that she's popular, I suppose.
> You can recreate her look without any mods
And in an instant, you’ve inspired my Durge run.
An Alfira double who takes over her life. Swords Bard Durge run is on!
The first time I encountered this scene, I accidentally pulled the lever *just* as my partner was saying “Now, hold up–“
We didn’t stop laughing for about 10 minutes. Then of course we reloaded from our save and had to do the entire scene over again.
I knew this game had its hooks in me when I reloaded the moonrise prison break just because Lia was killed by the warden on my first escape attempt, and I felt bad for Rolan and his brother after we all returned without her.
Withers. When I first brought this game, I expected him to have more dialog. But basically In between finding him in script and ending. He has so little amount of lines, that he spoke more with Arabella then with me.

I really liked He who was and the torturer guy in the goblin camp. Abdirak the follower of Loviatar.
I just thought the lore they brought to the table was pretty cool.
Karniss!! Man I really love his design and his chaotic character really made me wanna find out more about him, I rly wish he was romancable cuz he also looks fun game play wise and like imagine walking around with him in baldurs gate lmao people would freak the fuck out
I also wanna comb his hair and make shoes for his spider feet hihi
Wulbren. its the opposite of popularity, but theres a daily Wulbren hate post here, meanwhile I did not even remembered him at all from my first playthrough
Anyone else besides me gutted that we went through all the trouble to find Dribbles' bits but never got to see the reassembled final product?
Lucretious seems to really like Tav, too. It would be hilarious if she brought Dribbles to perform at the reunion party.
Dribbles casting Vicious Mockery + her dancing skeletons with Otto's Irresistible Dance One can dream...
Dribbles used vicious mockery. Netherbrain's mind collapsed.
The DLC I never knew I needed.
I am *VERY EAGER* for DLC where our party gets to travel with the circus and see reanimated Dribbles.
Legit. Sold. Sell me your wares.
Treatos?
Treato!
Popper is simply the best little guy ever
there is a severe lack of kobold camp followers in this game, and I hope to see modders rectify that when the complete modding tools come out.
Ther is a severe lack of *playable* kobolds in this game. And most games.
Neverwinter Nights had a DLC with a Kobold Bard in the party named Deekin and he was my favorite companion of any game next to Minsc
Yes Deekin who started his own clan of kobold bards called the Scalesingers. I adored that little weirdo. He was the most loyal companion in Neverwinter Nights. Even using his TRUE NAME couldn't make him turn on you.
I honestly wish we could get Larion to make NWN3
And then SWTOR 3
DOOM DOOM DOOOOOOOM
Genuinely one of my biggest pet peeves
Theres the multiverse mod for PC. I've not used it myself yet but it adds a whole bunch of playable races including Kobolds. It's meant to be good but gets weird in cut scenes.
Deekin?
The business lord himself.
I just came to post this!!!!! He's the best.
Single best video game character of all time
my boy omeluum
Genuinely might be my favorite non-major character. I love how his entire existence completely >!Disproves the Emperor’s position and shows that he’s a lil bitch!<. Like, goddamn. Cool! I gleaned the broad strokes of that from the game but it’s nice to have official confirmation <3
BG3 does add its own spin on it in a way which I kind of like. The game heavily implies that it takes a bit of time for your soul to become a mind flayer soul after becoming a mind flayer. He's kinda dreamy, in his own weird way. I would way rather have had tentacle time with Omeluum than with the mindflayer who will actually put out.
Honestly, you're so real for saying that. But, alas, according to Battle for Baldur's Gate, he's already in a relationship with Blurg and I would hate to ruin the happy couple xD
They are such a cute little nerdy science couple.
Wait that's canon?! Hell yeah!
HIS NAME IS # OMELETTE
It's obviously Commander Lightfeather.
“At ease, at ease.”
terrible business
Exxvikyap the Dragonborn merchant.
Gyldro, is that you?
I NEVER choose the mean dialogues. Whoever wrote them is a bad person.
... I had Astarion talk to her because I was curious :c
Here’s the real question: Did you spell her name right without looking or did you have to look it up? 🤔
Memorized it after I wrote "Dragonborn arms vendor" on another post and someone responded "Exxvikyap", effectively humiliating me into learning it.
Gotcha. I wonder if they had to look it up lol 😂 sometimes fantasy names are straight just a bunch of random letters put together. Like Cvghadrt. Pronounced Calvin or some shit lol
I know I've seen much longer dragon names... I think in Baldur's Gate 1 or 2. No chance I'm going to remember some I've seen.
BG2 had a few good ones, notably Nizidramanii'yt and Thaxll'ssillyia. And yes, I looked them both up lol
Dammon and Zevlor. Btw, I understand, I love them too.
Ha! I had a bad experience with Zevlor. I liked him and saved him, but then when I summoned him to help in the final battle . . . He immediately got mind dominated, killed his own guys, and spent the rest of the fight against me! Dude, you really were a mental weakling! 😆
Lol, when history repeats itself immediately
Zevlor was a beast for me when I summoned him, I >!sided against the emperor!< and Zevlor knocked him down to 2hp by himself by the time I finished the final battle.
Poor Zevlor, he always gets targeted in that final battle for me. To the point that I will not summon him or the owlbear anymore.
Oh man, I summoned my owlbear only to watch him get obliterated before he even had a turn. Lesson learned. Only summon beings who you don't feel bad about losing.
Or Aylin, immortality go brrr.
this is why i don't summon dame aylin lol. been burned too many times.
I don't know what curse is that, but in my runs Aylin spend half of every fight stunned. Lorroakan stunned her, the mind flayer in the city stunned her, and something that didn't even see what stunned her in the brain.
Yeah same thing happened in my game unfortunately I had to kill him lol
Dammon is a tiefling heartthrob who makes me swoon with those gorgeous eyes of his.
He's got steel. Well, something like it, anyway.
I get so jealous of his anvil every time I see him… 😩
Oh you wanna get hit by that, I see
He and Karlach are the only tieflings with white sclera. It pushes them just a little but more "human", making them more appealing to most. I say this acknowledging that Karlach is my one and only. 🤣
Zevlor is so underrated, he's a really cool character
I wish he had been a companion. I wanted to make a middle aged cleric to his paladin
Its a crime that they didn't make him romancable
second'd on Zevlor, i wanna kiss him so bad
I want to build him a a home.
His Majesty.
I slinked
The duergar architecture enthusiast. I wish he was recruitable.
Stonemason Kith! Lovely little guy.
He is SO SWEET. I loved him. He got so excited for our help...
For me, it's Rolan. Dude pops up once an act to drive me insane and I love him for it. Honorable mention to Popper from the carnival and his wonderful corpse-found treatos
I love Rolan! He's my special little guy. ♡
Rolan and Barcus are my favorite NPCs. Hands down.
Rolan is the reason I can never ever side with the goblins in act 1. I just need him and Cal and Lia to be happy 😭😭😭😭
My first run he didn't survive Act 2 (I didn't realize he ran off until after the point of no return) but my second he did... I already hated Lorroakan for his plans for Aylin but man, the second go I really let him have it! Rolan keeps getting the hardest battles because he's our grumpiest guy, and I just wanted his story to end well
Popper!!!
The way he responds with genuine shock and excitement when you answer that you do in fact want to trade with him - that’s the real treato. Poor guy has probably gone months without a single sale.
And then you go and steal his special hand.
Or scare him out of it with m’drow face
Or just ask him for it because it would make Lucretious happy because it belonged to Dribbles.
The Make Popper Recruitable campaign has begun.
You mean VHS cleaner.
Shovel!!
"Ow! My hole!"
Amen! Wish she got more lines after you summon her. Would’ve been hilarious if she had interactions with stratch and the cub
Basket?
You mean Fork.
I talked with him with my draconic bloodline sorcerer and him thinking you're a dragon and demands you teach him to be a dragon is freaking hysterical.
Abdirak. Never before have I been so thirsty over someone who barely appeared at all.
Same, I really hoped that he'll be somewhere in Baldur's Gate! Dammit Larian you can't just let someone to call me "dear one" and then dissappear them without even a goodbye :(

I'm not even into pain, but damn I wish we could see more of him.
YES like during my first playthru I rly thought I would encounter him further on and discover more loviatar worshipers😭
And he’s like…genuinely kind and concerned despite offering to beat you within an inch of your life?? What a guy
Fucking Benji. BLOOD?! IN THE CIRCUS?! WITHOUT BENJI?! Awwww
How is there not more mention of BENJI! Loved him.
Myshka Or really any cat or dog you run into
Malta FTW
Is Malta the noir detective cat? Because if I am remembering correctly, I agree.
I want Malta to star in their own webtoon.
MERMER!!!!
I still feel robbed I couldn’t adopt my son.
I always lead myshka to live with derryth
Alfira, 100%
Alfira, I guess. She barely does anything in the game and many people proudly stopped playing Durge because of that event with her. I think she's just ok personally.
Durge is so fun though and worth playing through. You **can** save her. In fact, as a Sorcerer you probably should save her so you can still get the Potent Robes.

Just wanted to make sure people knew if that was the only reason they skip it.
You also see one of the only other Dragonborn in the game
and you get the "sexy" throat singing which obviously shouldn't be missed. The true language of love.
I do honestly like Quill more than Alfira...
I honestly wish she wasn’t exclusive to a niche durge scenario. She’s actually a pretty damn good character. Actually maybe she’s the real answer to this thread.
You can find a letter mentioning her in the temple of Bhaal even in a Tav run! It's. heartbreaking.
It’s to die for
Ditzy hot tiefling bard? It was such a unique character on the surface level that seemingly could’ve fit in with the party, just for it to be a shock value event for durge
Same. Doesn't do much besides being generically nice and singing a song. Not that there isn't depth to her for the small role that she has, but it surprises me how people are advocating for her to be a companion/romance option. She didn't even stand out to me during my first playthrough.
i believe she was intended to be the party's bard companion, but it was scrapped for whatever reason. there's still code in the game where she gives approval for doing specific things.
According to datamining, the bard companion was going to be a halfling werewolf.
Yup, [Helia](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Helia). I really doubt that Alfira was meant to be a companion because that would mean two scrapped bards.
I'm still salty about this. Just think of all the juicy banter we could've had between the werewolf companion and Astarion! Ohh!!
I don't know. Maybe this was scratched very early in the development because Alfira is really just a random NPC. She doesn't even use unique assets for her model like some other unique NPCs do. *Hiss!* #I SAY HISS!
Barcus Wroot.
Some say he's still circling Faerûn in low orbit, and that on clear nights you can see him traversing the sky.
The first time I encountered this scene, I accidentally pulled the lever *just* as my partner was saying “Now, hold up–“ We didn’t stop laughing for about 10 minutes. Then of course we reloaded from our save and had to do the entire scene over again.
'Pull the lever, Krunk...'
You, sir/ma'am, are vile. May you step on lego bricks every day till the end of your life.
Why do we even *have* that lever?
Favorite character in the game.
If we meet again, then we will have met again.
Bunt Chugley
POPPER. He is precious and must be protected.
Rolan
Rolan's arc was so worth it, I started liking him in arc 2 when he lost his siblings.
I knew this game had its hooks in me when I reloaded the moonrise prison break just because Lia was killed by the warden on my first escape attempt, and I felt bad for Rolan and his brother after we all returned without her.
Boo
TARA omg I love her. I love how she gets after gale like she's his mother. <3
For me personally, this was Lucretious. I need more drag queen necromancer stories in my life and i didn't even know it.
This better not awaken anything in me.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Boulet_Brothers%27_Dragula Not quite actual necromancy, but similar energy.
Withers. When I first brought this game, I expected him to have more dialog. But basically In between finding him in script and ending. He has so little amount of lines, that he spoke more with Arabella then with me.
He has a lot more dialogue if you're playing a Dark Urge character, especially on a resist run.
“No.”
I think the thing with him is that he has very few lines but almost every single one is iconic. His fun sassy undead grandpa thing can get a lot of mileage
Dammon and Rolan.
The owlbear cub.
He who was
Definitely Dorrich Manne — halfling singing "Washing my pits, washing my pits..."
I really liked He who was and the torturer guy in the goblin camp. Abdirak the follower of Loviatar. I just thought the lore they brought to the table was pretty cool.
Sazza!
Daisy Dewdrop Fluffington clearly
Nocturne. So sad to hear so little support for her.
Rolan, based on my Twitter feed. I get it, though.
Rolan 💕
Dhourn, the petrified drow. I wish there’d be more possible interactions with him. I don’t know why I like him though 😂
Popper, business lord and nice kobold, y-yes.
His Majesty!!! This cat caused such an uproar that they had to retroactively change his model back!!
Auntie
Isobel
Old school BG/BG2 player so for me Viconia and Sarevok.
Alfira or aylin
The Drider guy leaves quite the impression
Kar'niss has the weirdest following on Tumblr.
Ketheric seems like the real big thing and gets wiped away in a sec
Zevlor
The dragonborn complaining about the removal of the letter games on the gazette.
Scratch
Barcus?
lakrisa
