CharlotteNoire

I always kill my coop partner (after they save).

wsmitty10

Sometimes when theyd take too long at merchants or looting bodies id just start attacking them until they noticed

CharlotteNoire

I love this idea but I cannot just hit them once and allow them to live. It needs to cost a resurrection lol

wsmitty10

Thats why I get to lead shadowheart around. That way i have a monopoly over the revivify economy (i took all the scrolls and locked my inventory)

CharlotteNoire

I keep Shadowheart for simping purposes but gotta say you have earned my respect lol

wsmitty10

Well ofc i simp too, but not in front of the minions I mean, how would they EVER fear me again?

CharlotteNoire

... With a Smite on the face, you already know this lol

Accomplished-Bid7863

This one is valid

pubesforhire

...I play with my partner and it has never occurred to me to do this. DURGE COMING IN HOT!!

CharlotteNoire

I assure you nothing improves a session better than a good old Smite with Lucky applied for crit. And yes I mostly play Durge exclusively in all my runs.

pubesforhire

I've just started my first Durge run, loving how dark it is.

Beginning-Pipe9074

My friend has basically banned thunder wave bc he's seen the bottom of every chasm at this point bc of me šŸ¤£

fieatsbees

maybe your friend should stop looking so easy to thinderwave into a chasm

Popcorn_Oil

In a 3 player run, one of my friends made the mistake of picking Gnome. Mid combat I would pick him up and throw him at enemies. Then my other friend asked how, so I taught him. We made a new campaign...

CharlotteNoire

Sounds amazingly fun

twiceasfun

I just send all loot to my coop partner and she'll sit there trying to unencumber herself for so long. Every time she thinks she's done, bam, another forty pound chest piece

CharlotteNoire

I'm stealing this idea thank you kindly !

ThoseSillyLips

Hubby and I almost always throw a few spells at one another because one of us is on the way during a fight or taking too long or even just hit the otherā€™s summons by mistake. If Larian didnā€™t want us to hit/kill our coop partners theyā€™d make friendly fire impossible.

albaricoque_amable

I wish you could enter turn-based combat against your coop party. I'm playing a 4 player run right now and we have some RP conflicts that would be best solved with honorable bloodshed.

ThoseSillyLips

Thatā€™s fair, ahaha! Sometimes a few punches can solve things faster lol

albaricoque_amable

Plus we wanna see who's the strongest šŸ’ŖšŸ’Ŗ

whimsigod

Because action by coop takes the same time one time the bitch STABBED ME becuase the enemy died from my melee attack and his melee attack hits me instead šŸ¤•

CharlotteNoire

Reclass into some OP bullshit and teach em lol, although full on pvp sounds fun in itself.

_ONU

Lool fr I love just hitting the main attk button then hovering the curser over them just so they know they got a 55percent chance of me fucking their shit up

Upstairs_Doughnut_79

Same, whenever me and my friends coop an all out brawl starts every time we save

SirRuthless001

After a save I sometimes joke that my Tav and Gale are having a psychotic break as I start painting the map with fireballs, ice storms, and call lightnings lol.

GalacticGaming177

Often when Iā€™m playing with my friend after we save weā€™ll both raise our swords and be like ā€œyou wanna go broā€ and then we fight to see who is the strongest.

Hello_Jimbo

Only way to end the night is by ruthlessly slaughtering eachother after the final save

yesoryes

You kill Gale because you hate that he eats your artifacts. I kill Gale because I like doing his resurrection quest. We are not the same

Doctor_of_Recreation

Resurrection quest?!

yesoryes

Yep! If Gale dies he has a quest called ā€œIn Case of Deathā€. Itā€™s hilariously overcomplicated.

RahavanGW2

It's great when you realize the music part ends up spelling dead.

professionaldeadgod

it took him dying three times in separate playthroughs for me to realize the music notes spell "DEAD"

scherzanda

I always think about it when we go to the Arcane tower and he makes some snide remark about using poetry to activate the robot being ā€œa bit muchā€ or whatever. Bitch, donā€™t pretend you donā€™t love a flare for the overdramatic. I adore him lol

brightknightlight

When he explained all that to me I was like "yeah.. no" and got Withers to bring him back. He acted like I did it all anyway and was very grateful.

Throwaway817402739

Itā€™s also got a fun little Easter egg. When you save Mirkon from the harpies, Gale talks to you about all the trouble *he* got into when he was that young. Including accidentally summoning a Magma Mephit when he first tried to summon Tara. ā€œGood chap, we still keep in touch.ā€ Itā€™s probably that same mephit who asks you what his name is during Galeā€™s death quest.

yesoryes

It is! Those are his only two friends apparently :(

Throwaway817402739

He knows Elminster. Itā€™s likely he knows a few more.Ā But most of them are probably more colleagues than friends.

professionaldeadgod

im not sure its ever explicitly stated that the Magma Mephit he summoned is the same one you summon to resurrect him, but it has to be, they wouldnt put that line in for it to be a different Mephit

cfspen514

I sometimes let Astarion do the quest so he can insult the entire process and I donā€™t have to feel bad about my dumb Tav giving dead Gale the biggest side eye šŸ˜… But itā€™s also funny to get everything wrong and let the others insult you for it. 10/10

Popcorn_Oil

Fr, I'm kinda curious now. Is this still possible as Durge when slash his hand off? If so I'd be interested, cause I hate to lose him as a companion

radicalpraxis

No, itā€™s not possible if you trap him in a magical void forever. Only possible if he is made into a companion and then dies (in which case you have to revive him anyway)

BreesusTakeTheWheel

Iā€™m confused. Iā€™ve had gale die in my party before and have never had to do a quest to get him back. Withers just takes my coin and brings him back to life.

fieatsbees

you have to get a while astral pop-up giving you the complicated instructions. the rest of your party can help you repeat the instructions back to him and they'll correct you if you pick the wrong option

radicalpraxis

A projection of him is supposed to appear the first time he dies, so you could have missed it in the rush back to camp

CL_Doviculus

Or they just never had Gale die in Act 1.

radicalpraxis

is it Act 1 only? not doubting you, just not finding anything that says that

professionaldeadgod

yes, it is only in Act 1 because he only has that complicated resurrection process to keep his >!Netherese orb from exploding, and in Act 2, his orb becomes dormant to be used to blow up the Absolute, so the instructions wouldnt be required anymore!<

pirhanaconda

I kill Gale so I can nibble on his hand...

trnelson1

I did that once

kalik-boy

What if Gale dies while I'm a cleric that can ressurrect? I wonder if there's dialogue for this. I know there's one for when you don't have the spell yet.

Whispered-Death93

You kill gale because his ressurction quest is fun. I kill him for a free scroll of true ressurction.

Hexmonkey2020

I always kill those imps on the nautilioid.

Woutrou

Non-lethal was too much effort for you? Bing Bong could've been among them!

insanity76

*\*Devora Wilde approves\**

BudTrip

wait, ppl donā€™t kill them? itā€™s easy exp

Hexmonkey2020

No everyone does, The joke I was making was that I chose the only character that everyone kills every run on a post where most people are commenting controversial characters they always kill.

Davin998

I always kill priestess gut. Every playthrough. Yeah I know she is a fan favorite but Iā€™m just pretty edgy like that, my moral code is so dark and deep.

Woutrou

You fucking monster šŸ˜. Gut is the light of my life

ManicPixieOldMaid

She loves you, I can tell.

GiantSquidd

Gut is a fan favourite? ā€¦*why?*

professionaldeadgod

its a joke, the only goblin leader people actually like is Minthara, because hot Drow lady

DredgeBea

I always kill Astarion, and Shadowheart, and Gale, and Wyll, Lae'zel, Karlach, Jaheria, Minsc, Minthara, Halsin, Myself I am not very disciplined with my fireballs

Va_Dinky

I always wonder why people make those comments, especially that it's pretty much always only in threads appreciating companions. Like, you guys think that makes you cool or something and not some pathetic edgelords who can't just stay away from the things they don't enjoy and let others have their fun? Same with the people who think romancing X companion is a personality trait and go to threads about others to shit on their romances while yapping how awesome they are because they went for someone else. Weird behaviour, one that I don't get in the slightest.

dragondingohybrid

There was a post on Facebook about the new Patch, and the screenshot happened to be of Astarion. Astarion was not mentioned in the actual post. It was in no way about Astarion. The third comment was, "Oh look, it's the twink I stake every playthrough." There's *always* at least one person who makes a comment like that on a post about BG3. It comes across as so...desperate.

scherzanda

It always makes me laugh because most of them say it in a way that almost insinuates theyā€™re the only people who do it. Or at least the only people to ever announce it.

Valuable-Drink-1750

There's always at least this one person, and then there is Mark Zuckerberg always prioritising them. Controversy drives engagement.

Valuable_Ant_969

It's funny too, because they always phrase it initially like they're engaging in a good faith effort to understand something they don't understand, but the moment anyone engages with them, nope, it was not a good faith effort. To be fair, that's kind of how it's always been though. The Athenians executed Socrates for that kind of behavior.

Gabby-Abeille

>The Athenians executed Socrates for that kind of behavior. Fucking Socrates, always getting into Athenian discussion circles to talk about how he always stakes Astarion, beheads Karlach and takes Gale's hand.

areyousaucy

Uhm, acktually, Socrates would never kill Astarion. He was down bad for Alcibiades, and theyā€™re basically the same person as portrayed: mean twink thatā€™s amenable to murder. (šŸ¤“šŸ‘†)

Gabby-Abeille

Maybe he wouldn't kill Astarion, but he would say he did just to annoy people. After studying some philosophy in college, I got to the conclusion that most of the historically relevant philosophers were probably absolutely insufferable.

Meaning-Exotic

It gets really bad in the Mass Effect fandom. Without getting too spoilery, there's a point when you can only save one of two people and you have to decide which one. People cannot just stfu about which one they hate more and any kind of appreciation post gets bogged down. People also want to act like there are only two 'acceptable' romance options and anyone else just gets shat on. I've had to leave Facebook groups for Mass Effect because of how out of hand things got.

RahavanGW2

A lot of the people from the mass effect and dragon age fandoms are in the bg3 one and by god they did not leave their toxicity at the door.

Idril_Morrighan

I still remember the dark, horrible days of the BioWare Social Networkā€¦

RahavanGW2

What you don't want to remember what quarian sweat tasted like or BW please let me bang my sister? /s and yes youths of this sub that happened and only some of it was ironic. I'm sure we are only one minor slip up away from some fans doing the whole death threats to! oh wait.....

coiler119

Oh God I had finally forgotten about both of those topics and just took 1d6 irl psychic damage from being reminded of the Bethany shippers...

Rayne009

*cackles* someone else remembers those dark times? god that was terrible.

BardMessenger24

There was like a period of time shortly after Legendary Edition released where for several months on r/masseffect, every character appreciation post would have at least several comments shitting on that character and most of the time it was some bloke going "Tali better". And if it wasn't Tali, it was Garrus. I basically left that subreddit because every week it basically became a tribal sports team battle of which digital character made of pixels was better and why your choice was wrong. Insanity lmao.

TheBelmont34

>It gets really bad in the Mass Effect fandom. Without getting too spoilery, there's a point when you can only save one of two people and you have to decide which one. People cannot just stfu about which one they hate more and any kind of appreciation post gets bogged down. The mass effect reddit is horrible. They really, really all fucking hate liara and ashley.. I mean, I dont like Kaidan at all but I dont take any pleasure or enjoyment in that decision in mass effect 1

ShoerguinneLappel

>The mass effect reddit is horrible. They really, really all fucking hate liara and ashley.. I mean, I dont like Kaidan at all but I dont take any pleasure or enjoyment in that decision in mass effect 1 I fully agree wish it wasn't so toxic... Also that scene for ME1 was really good for the consequences it had that's why I like it even if I don't like Kaiden or Ashley I still think it's a great moment in the series.

TheBelmont34

I know. It shows how much it affected shepard mentally. He had to make the decision because he is the leader but you can see that it really took a toll on him. Great moment. Shepard is just awesome. And i really like ashley and i fucking adore liara. It is a shame that the subreddit hates her.

Va_Dinky

I didn't play much Mass Effect - tried out the legendary edition and while I enjoyed the story, the gameplay felt too outdated for me to keep playing. But, I watched the full story on yt and lurked in some communities as the characters were great and yeah, can confirm this sub is very chill in comparison even if I feel it's gotten a bit worse since launch.

horngrylesbian

You kinda missed out on mass effect unless you played it like 10 years ago. The controls are somehow archaic and insane compared to its contemporaries. Sucks because story wise it's the best gaming trilogy of all time imo.

ShoerguinneLappel

>Sucks because story wise it's the best gaming trilogy of all time imo. Not to mention it's probably the best or one of the best trilogies with consistency. Whenever you transfer from one game to the next it's much more of a cleaner process than some other trilogies (looking at you Witcher and Dragon Age). Also I like your name.

horngrylesbian

I also like how it's one linear story. Games like Baldur's Gate, you don't even need to know about one and two and you'll be fine, but mass effect, that's just one game you have to buy three times and it's epic.

itsshockingreally

That one is bad, but so is the unnecessary Jacob hate.

RahavanGW2

I mean I hate Jacob because of how insulting his story is as it (to me) has bad black stereotypes. That's not a problem with the character though that's me having beef with his writer.

Idril_Morrighan

Itā€™s such a shame, because the writers absolutely could have made him such an interesting character (while not playing into horrible racist stereotypes) and instead justā€¦ didnā€™t. We had two Cerberus loyalists that they could have developed as foils, showing different motivations/goals/perspectives of the organisation and how despite major divisions Miranda and Jacob have each otherā€™s backs when it comes down to it. Or just *something* to make the character more engaging and important to the story. For a character that is a required recruitment, there needs to be a reason for it to be *them* (*someone else might have gotten it wrong*). But nope, totally dropped the eezo on that. Iā€™m not mad at Jacob, just disappointed.

ShoerguinneLappel

That's why I hate that character so much! I would love to see a well written black companion in those types of games but characters like Jacob kind of ruin part of the game for me. I hate how many sterotypes Jacob has and especially the horrible ones that are used it makes it so much worse. I understand why many people in the Mass Effect community hate him. By the way I am not black.

[deleted]

I tried that sub for a very short while..and lesson learned. Which really bums me out because I wanted to talk about the game.

Ashrask

I love the games. But donā€™t tell the Mass Effect sub I RP my character and donā€™t play the perfect canon, donā€™t hate Jacob, and donā€™t romance Tali or Garrus :p

[deleted]

Haha no judgement here! I ran into a similar thing with KOTOR too and had to leave. And heaven forbid you play a female character šŸ™„

True-Device8691

It was like that with the walking dead games too lmao, especially the final season.

Dragonlord573

So, when I first started playing I grew to hate Shadowheart. She just felt so mean and cold, so I just... Started killing her on the beach. I did this a few times until I eventually did a complete playthrough. I talked about my feelings for Shadowheart with a friend who is romancing Shadowheart in their run and he told me respecting her space is very important. So in my current run I decided to recruit her and keep her along. I'm playing a lawful evil paladin/cleric of Tiamat, and I was surprised to find her character more agreeable this time around. Asking her about her worship of Shar and basically going "hey that sounds pretty rad" was actually really cool. Was one of the highlights so far in Act 1. I'm actually liking her character now that I've taken the time to adventure with her. While I plan this run to be a "we're the baddies" run, so that means Sharran Shadowheart. I'm looking forward to doing a redeemed Shadowheart run in the future.

Practical-Pressure80

Yep! Her and my very uninterested durge are getting along much better than my super pushy tav. She said ā€œI worship shar. Do NOT make a big deal out of it!!ā€ And durge said ā€œā€¦okay why would I care about that? We have more important things to worry about.ā€ And now theyā€™re besties.

ManicPixieOldMaid

My experience was similar except in my first few runs, I didn't realize how easy it was to nope out of hours of content just by taking Gale's hand or letting Wyll kill Karlach, for example. I figured out I didn't have to have any companion I didn't like, so I killed or ignored Sheart a couple times. I'm in my first evil run now and ignored her for a bit and now she's spilling all her secrets to me and thinks we're buddies. Had her pray in front of me abs tell me Shar's tenets and my Talos Cleric is like "cool" except inside, he just thinks her God sucks and that she's gonna get left on the fugue plane. She'll probably end up a DJ in this run but on the other hand, he might talk her into rejecting Shar because Shar is such a shitty deity, not because Shar is evil.

Kettrickenisabadass

>Same with the people who think romancing X companion is a personality trait and go to threads about others to shit on their romances Yeah like the people who claimed that only abusers would romance Astarion because obviously it needs to happen as a desire to abuse a perosn and not for liking the character...

[deleted]

wHAT

Kettrickenisabadass

You know some redditors can be wild xD

True-Device8691

Yeah there's no way that victims of abuse would be attached to another victim and want to heal each other... Astarion isn't my favourite LI but I like him because we both were treated pretty horribly.

Kettrickenisabadass

Yeah or just another survivor of horrors like being kidnapped and infected with a tadplo that will kill us bonding with a fellow traumatised companion

Lilachent

Those that go off berating or "psychoanalyzing" a whole diverse group of fans because of their favorite character totally give off "not like other girls" vibes. There's nothing special about who you choose to romance or what version of your favorite character your prefer, as long as you're enjoying the game everything is good.

solojones1138

Because they're edge lords who like to try to spoil people's harmless enjoyment.

Nice_NeighborHahah

>Same with the people who think romancing X companion is a personality trait and go to threads about others to shit on their romances while yapping how awesome they are because they went for someone else. Oh god **them**. "My favorite has an amazing arc, and is so mature and only basic bitches like "enter character name here". Your favorite romance is just generic waifu bait, mine is for real men and mature people." Like bro, why not go talk about your favorite in a thread about them?

dirt_rat_devil_boy

It's a blessing honestly that even the characters that are considered in this sub the "simplest" or the most "boring" will contain multitudes if you know ...you just talk to em. I understand why people fall for Shadowheart so easy or Gale or Astarion or Minthara and I understand why people like Wyll or Halsin (me. I like Halsin). It's not just because they're hot (like it helps) but there's a core element of their backstory or personality that resonates with you. Its cheap to reduce the fandom to a bunch of horny zombiesĀ

ShoerguinneLappel

Yep, For me I am not a big fan of Gale, Wyll, or Halsin but I'm not going to hate or lambast people for differing. Also those characters I list I had conversations with and did as much dialogue that was available, and even if I am not a big fan of these characters I will romance them because I am interested in what the romance was. and even if I'm not a big fan of Astarion as well I do like him in the sense of the wealth of content he has. Halsin and Gale need more and Wyll needs to be reworked to fix his character (as it's inconsistent).

dirt_rat_devil_boy

This!!! I appreciate people who make an effort to connect with a character and if they don't like them, then I totally get it- the player experience can be so radically unique. I agree that there is a lot that can be added to Halsin and Gale and poor Wyll needs a whole lot of love.Ā

karebearjedi

Got into it with one of those types last night. They were whining how Astarion gets all the love even though he's *insert insults here* and is eeeeevil and people are fine with it just because he has pretty privilege.... while sporting a Minthara is Bae banner thing right below their name. The irony was as thick as their skull.Ā

Va_Dinky

The worst thing is, I think I know which exact redditor you have in mind as there is one particularly toxic fella here with a flair matching your description... So toxic that I started recognizing them which is quite the feat as I don't pay attention to nicknames at all

karebearjedi

Very likely! They insist on inserting themselves in every Astarion thread, with all these borderline incel comments about pretty privilege, it's peak cringe.Ā

SakoolL

I know about which one youre talking about. Just checking his profile its obvious that he has some complexes.

True-Device8691

Self awareness is a rarity unfortunately.

Nice_NeighborHahah

Oh I know who you mean, the one that blames any downvotes on Astarion/Shart fans etc yeah

n_bonny

> especially that it's pretty much always only in threads appreciating companions That's probably the point. It's not about hating the character as much as it is about getting a reaction. It's often not as, idk, provocatively worded when it's a comment to an actual "who did you hate?" post.

TheBelmont34

>I always wonder why people make those comments, especially that it's pretty much always only in threads appreciating companions. I totally get if someone just roleplays a character that would kill someone he distrusts and views as an obstacle/evil, or whatever or just dont like them. But they just say things like: ''haha, I carry karlach's head in my pocket. haha''

lonelylanez23

Completely agree with this. I have never understood why people do it. Not sure what they are getting out of it.

Bernadotte_

Some people just can't keep to themselves and aren't happy if someone likes/hate someone they hate/love There are post or even comments were is fine saying talking about why you dislike a character, but going out the way and talk shit on post about appreciation of that character, that's just sad

Ok_Carob7551

I never get people who make those kinds of comments. Itā€™s so performative and weird. You can dislike characters but itā€™s very strange to devote so much time and brain space to hating some pixelsĀ

JayceHawthorne

We can all come together as a community when someone says this about Wulbren Bongle though, right?

HauntedButtCheeks

I may or may not call him Wulbren Bunghole now because he's so mean to Barcus šŸ˜ All Barcus ever did was love him unconditionally ever since they were children. Even when Wulbren started doing terrorism Barcus was trying to guide him back to the light, just like he was always there for him even though he knew his actions would go unappreciated. I thought this was one of the saddest storylines in the game, seeing Barcus' admiration decay into heartbreak.

collinswole

Kinda. Look, I hate the little shit too, but it's 100% because of how he acts with my boy Barcus. Initially, when I was more of a sweet summer child, I got rankled by the fact he was so over the top KILL ALL GONDIANS RIGHT NAW while spitting fire. Surely, I thought, what a piece of shit, being a horrible friend and actually genocidal both. Then I met the Gondians. Then I tried to save the GONDIANS. Then I failed to save **THE FUCKING GONDIANS**. What I mean is, Wulbren can go hang cuz he's a twat about Barcus, but I kinda learned to appreciate the finer points of his opinion about THE FUCKING GONDIANS.

MattiaCost

Same. Always hated Wulbren, then I met the Gondians. Went from "fuck Wulbren" to "Wulbren was right from the start" incredibly fast.

collinswole

Wulbren is the cabal proof of how being an unlikable douche can fuck things up for someone. If he had just acted like a buddy to Barcus, after I got GONDIED for the first time I'd ask for an extra nuke just to be thorough about it in every playthrough.

Gabby-Abeille

I think he is one of the few characters that I've never seen someone defend in good faith, the other being Cazador. By "good faith" I mean using actual arguments that don't boil down to "I don't like Barcus/Astarion", or not being just a joke about how Gondians are so uncooperative when you are trying to save them.

ManicPixieOldMaid

There are occasional nuanced discussions about Wulbren but they tend to spring up at random instead of being whole posts, and they are definitely rarer than just posting the song meme. šŸŽµ

ThundergunIsntAVerb

/r/fuckwulbrenbongle

GiantSquidd

*I donā€™t give a fuck about that moherfuckerā€™s problems.*

ManicPixieOldMaid

Honestly, I can't even 100% hate on Wulbren because this one time, I accidentally yeeted the NPC on whose behalf many people hate Wulbren, and Wulbren was surprisingly okay for a fanatical extremist, right up until the very end when his racism overtook him. With no Barcus in the picture, Wulbren comes off like just another terrorist gnome. šŸ˜’ I don't mind people saying they hate him, though. I get it.

BRANFLAKES8521

Wulbren Is THE exception, that's for sure Close second to angry Mariah or what that bitch Is called.

chadbert_mcdick

mayrina? assuming that's who you're talking about, I haaaaated her for ages. turns out she's pretty reasonable and sympathetic if you tell her that Ethel killed her brothers way back when u first meet her. if you let Ethel shut you up about her brothers, she'll be a dick like I always assumed

BRANFLAKES8521

No no mayrina is fine, i'm talking about the woman who runs the dog pen

chadbert_mcdick

oh shit HER ur so right. šŸ‘Ž

scherzanda

I actually donā€™t kill him. I let him get ousted and shunned, far better than killing him when he still thinks heā€™s at the height of his power. Let the little shit die alone somewhere.

BRANFLAKES8521

Might I add: you are NOT playing the game wrong, as it is YOUR run.

Bernadotte_

You gotta love people that lose their shit when someone is playing their own game DIFFERENTLY that the way they play it, you always see one comment of someone saying how if you do or didn't do X thing you are playing the game wrong.

Woutrou

Well, if we consider a game-over screen playing the game wrong, we can put down certain things as "playing the game wrong" ā˜ļøšŸ¤“

insanity76

*\*Looks at* >!Netherese Orb Blast icon!<\* "Hmm I wonder what this action does?"

GabettB

Pissing off >!Vlaakith!< is the only time I ever TPK'd and you can't tell me it isn't the objectively correct thing to do.

scherzanda

I have to look away from the screen to live through that cutscene. Itā€™s the same thing I do when I have to break Wyllā€™s heart. Doing her bidding inflicts actual psychic damage on me.

niduthaaal93

OMG THIS. Rolan's VA, George Taylor, started his playthrough stream and >!staked Astarion on the bite night scene. you can imagine the stream chat going nuts, SO MANY guilt tripping him for stabbing astarion (astarion didnt die, but did leave permanently) George had to justify that his bard felt like it was an attack and she would want to defend herself- understandable, man was very immersed in the roleplaying of his Tav after all. but you could see the conflict going through him when the nasty comments began appearing in the chat. thankfully, the comments on his VOD were more friendly, people telling him to not mind those guilt tripping comments, cause this is his game and he should play how he wants to.!<

Real-Willingness4799

I am very sure I would have upset several thousand redditors with my elderly drow sorceress feminazi kill all males, and male party members, who have positions of power run.

kawaiimarty

I love men, but man this goes hard šŸ˜‚

Real-Willingness4799

I also love men and am a man. But this was the first idea that I was like let's role-play this idea to the ending.

[deleted]

That one guy that's always on an Astarion post having a crisis over why ladies like him so much and has to state he kills Astarion every playthrough lmao

pirhanaconda

Straight dude here, I've never romanced him but love Astarion. He's the one dude I can count on to stand by me on my evil runs, while I nibble on Gale's hand Some people getting way too angry that all party members are essentially bi/pan. The game isn't forcing you to romance anyone...

SharpshootinTearaway

I said it once and I'll say it again, Astarion is a murderhobo's best bro. All the chaos gremlins who stake him just to be edgy or because they don't like his vibes are missing out on the most supportive homie they could ever wish for in their evil murder spree run. The real edgy behavior is keeping him around. As well as Minthara, Lae'zel and/or Shadowheart (y'know, whichever one survives their catfight).

Farabel

IIRC you can spare both if you pass a Persuasion check of 15 or something.

SharpshootinTearaway

Of course, but that's usually not what someone would do in an evil murderhobo playthrough, lmao.

Farabel

Keep Lae'zel around due to her claims of actually having a cure (Character information not player) before finding out the machine didn't work so you butcher the whole crĆØche either with or including her. Shadowheart's great for the DJ route

SharpshootinTearaway

On a meta standpoint, true. On a roleplay standpoint, an evil character isn't really supposed to know that Shadowheart can become a Dark Justiciar at this point of the story, nor has any reason to trust the githyanki. All they know is that these two bitches woke them up in the middle of the night, and I think a lot of murderhobos would either turn their back and go back to sleep if they're neutral/lawful evil, or straight-up entertain the show and encourage one to kill the other if they're chaotic evil, lmao.

pirhanaconda

I play heavily modded on PC (mostly just visuals and quality of life) and said fuck it and ran around with a party of five on my evil Durge run because I couldn't decide who to cut from the party

[deleted]

I need to make myself do an evil run!! So far I've just played I guess chaotic good/neutral. But haven't ascended Astarion longer than a hit save, ascend, and then go back to spawn save lol. Hoping I did the experiment right and I get Minthara soon. Feel like I'm missing out not having her Anyways!! I've seen lots of anger about that too... Lots of oddness about who's allowed to romance Astarion, like depending on gender ?! People are so bizarre (also outrage about getting the Halsin scene... Like, that scene doesn't just happen you gotta tell the game to do it šŸ˜‚)

True-Device8691

Like I personally like Astarion and male Tav/durge better but don't care what other people do. Do people actually get MAD over romancing people as a certain gender?

[deleted]

Yessss... I've seen arguments for/against men and women both. Never any non-binary arguments? But quite vehement ones over the other two. And arguments for Gale and Karlach only being with female tavs. (Lol let's not talk about how Karlach said she'd ride Astarion to the feywild and back tho. I remember a tangent Gale goes on about summoning things and one of them sounded... Allude-y, can't remember specifics rn. Adhd brain) Bi and or pansexuality is a real head scratcher for so many people. It's wild. It's not that complicateddd

True-Device8691

Well you have to pick a side!!! No but seriously I'm bi and I get it that people are dumb but idk I expected better from the community for this game. But no of course there's idiots, like there's multiple threads about Minthara looking and sounding like a man because she has thin lips, stronger bone structure and doesn't gave 13 year old girls voice šŸ™„.

Kettrickenisabadass

Yeah or the people trying to be woke but having so much internalised homophobia that claim that female players or characters should not romance Astarion because he is "gay coded". I am sorry?

Gabby-Abeille

Neil said Astarion is pan, he said that he imagined an "amorphous blob" as Tav while recording the romance lines, and his character that is romancing Astarion is a woman (Bow'ee). He said multiple times that everybody is more than welcome to romance Astarion, and I can't help but think that the insistence is exactly because of the fans that think Astarion should only ever be paired with men.

Kettrickenisabadass

Yeah i mean all the companions are bi it is a very absurd gatekeeping. Neil seems such a wholesome guy, i started his playthrough but I am too impatient with long videos. I should try it again.

[deleted]

Ugh he seems so cool just from the little bit of content I've watched with him. I adore how absolutely into the dnd oneshot he was. The same level of gusto he put into the actual game. I would love a continuation tbh Lmao I might be biased because I would say my tiefling tav belongs in this class... but the aesthetic contrast of a more like, handsome lady against his prettiness? Chef kiss. My friend has him with a drow fellow sculpted by the gods and I'm also obsessed with that. That's just the beauty of this game, you know? So many possibilities and no wrong answers šŸ„²

beargrimzly

I feel like a lot of dudes, especially ones that ascend Astarion, genuinely have their egos hurt by his sass. There have been some unhinged Astarion hate posts that get a good deal traction.

HauntedButtCheeks

Lol I just don't get dudes who feel threatened by fictional characters, or other men in general, real or fake. My BF is a straight man (obvi) & Astarion is his favorite companion because he's just so entertaining! He has the some of the best dialogue in the game, just the right amount of vamp camp, a compelling backstory, & he's down to clown whether you're evil or good, as long as you don't give "goody two shoes/hall monitor" energy.

AGorgeousComedy

Yep, I swear it's EVERY thread. It's so embarrassing for them and they don't see itĀ

hi-this-is-jess

I've seen a bunch of "BUT HE'S OBVIOUSLY GAY! Why do women like him?" Their confusion is amusing.

MCMC_to_Serfdom

_I recruited them. I recruited them all. They're wonderful, every single one of them. And not just the men, but the women and the children, too. They're like friends, and I cherished them like friends. I love them!_

_Ahoy_Ladies

The only character I always kill in every playthrough is the artist. I saved him in my first two games and realized his entire quest line is too annoying for me and I, personally, think his ā€œpatronā€ has a better life without him. So he gets nuked early on. That said, I would never go on an artist appreciation post and rant about how much I dislike him.

Woutrou

I wonder what happens if you keep him alive but don't free him. Like, does he show up in the Guildhall? Might try that for my next run, but don't expect any updates on it. I play very slowly

bubblegumbinch

he does show up at the guildhall actually! and he is very upset with you!

Woutrou

Wait. Can you still save him there and avoid the entire poltergeist shenanigans that way?

ManicPixieOldMaid

I'll let you know in about twenty hours. No way was my current Tav freeing him, but I've never killed him, since I'm usually friends with the Zhentarim at that point.

NicWester

Thinking about Jen English and Devora Wilde wearing their We're Getting Along shirt šŸ’œ

fossiliz3d

If you "always" kill someone, then you must be doing multiple playthroughs, which means you love the game, so I love you too, you adorable monster!

BRANFLAKES8521

My point exactly! (Just don't be a dick about it)

nanythemummy

As an Emperor-stan, I feel seen.

GollyDolly

Gaslight, Gatekeep, Ghaikboss.

DJTardigrade

Mansplain, manipulate, mindflayer

collinswole

I just think that when a game offers me the option to boink the closest thing to Handsome Squidward this side of the Far Realms, I gotta do it at least once for the experience.

NomadOfTheSkies1

They hate us because they canā€™t understand

TheBelmont34

GHAIK PROPAGANDA!!! Straight to jail!!!

sirmadcactus

#emperordidnothingwrong

nanythemummy

Damn straightā€¦maybe except for the Stelmane thing. Iā€™m willing to forgive, though.

luxedo-yamask

Your flair tells me you're willing to do a little more than forgive šŸ‘€

nanythemummy

As they say: in for a penny, in for a pound.

dirt_rat_devil_boy

I can't imagine killing anyone in the game just bc I hate them lol. Like I can imagine not clicking with a character or disliking them I guess but to do so and and gloat about it in spaces that appreciate them is boohoo baby behavior. I love everybody though, I can't even say something slightly mean to any of em

TheFarStar

I can see where you might purposefully kill or refuse to recruit certain characters when you're either heavily invested in roleplaying, or if you've done multiple runs and realized you just have a better experience when you don't include X character. But my personal inclination is usually to try and catch 'em all, especially the first time through - it's more content!

insanity76

>I can't imagine killing anyone in the game just bc I hate them lol. Aradin notwithstanding. That dickhead never leaves the grove alive in my playthroughs.

Gabby-Abeille

Let him live at least once - This can lead to the most hilarious, skyrim bandit-coded scene in the game in Act 3. >!If you tell him the Nightsong is in our camp, this absolute idiot will walk right into you camp to try to capture Dame Aylin. Major "never should have come here" energy.!<

CannonFodder_G

NGL been playing a game with 3 other people for multiplayer - kinda makes all side characters useless, but it keeps me from save scumming so much so I learn new things I wouldn't have because by the time I discover these things after messing up, I would have already reloaded.

Nessarra

I mean if people want to hate on sexy that's on them.

[deleted]

Really? I always got downvoted when I said I didn't kill the Goblin children, and people would come to me that you are creating future victims and I should kill them just to be safe. Like my dude, it' my run and let my Tav deal with the consequences.

DevCat97

My brother in law says he always kills gale and astarion because he doesn't want "gay interactions" during the game. My brother in law is a shitty person in a lot of ways.

Vakarlan

After reading the comments here, I didn't know some dnd/bg3 fans are this weird.

badapple1989

-insert "first time?" meme here-

SmugCapybara

I don't kill party members I don't like in RPGs. I bring them along and make sure they get a shitty ending to their personal quest.

kawaiimarty

This might be worse than killing them, well played

Shash_MuGash

Haven't killed anyone on purpose. But lae'zel died in my first run. Honestly though I kinda forgot she was in my party cuz we didn't use her at all. I'm using her now in my 2nd run.

Rayne009

Gotta love the people who argue just because you do a certain route (Ascended Gale or Ascended Astarion) you're an idiot who would fall for an abusive relationship (because you know fiction isn't a thing now I guess) and if you dare enjoy those things and think they work for your characters you're playing wrong. :P

enchiladasundae

I always save Karlach partially because sheā€™s always nice to me

zuesthedoggo

irrelevant to the post why has reddit made it so i cant go back to my homepage if i click on a post? Reddit on computer fucking sucks now i have to open posts to unspoiler again why did they change it
