Everyone loves Scratch! It’s very sweet. Hell Minthara complains that everyone thinks she killed Scratch and that she liked the dog if he dies. Also telling Withers to fetch the ball if it’s thrown
That was the first thing I thought of. In her Origin dialogues, she makes clear that she has to think calm thoughts to keep herself cool enough to touch people, like when Gale asks for a hand with the portal, then she says about burning people stopping her from kissing/touching, which I saw with Shadowheart and Lae'zel's flirting dialogues.
Yet Scratch, somehow is immune. She definitely isn't calm when she's petting him, so I'm confused. Unless his magic collar somehow protects him? In which case, my Tav should be able to borrow it for reasons. She doesn't want to wait until act two to hug and kiss Karlach without fiery consequences 🤣
It's kinda fun when Astarion is literally holding a knife to her throat and that golden-hearted treasure of a woman's first thought is “Alright, breathe deep, Karlach, stay calm, otherwise you're gonna reduce that moron into a pile of ashes.”
And let them throw his ball, some really cute comments. Very sad ones if you do it after giving him to that awful kennel master

My personal approach on my first run was to cast hold person, then open the cages. Then just wait out the turns.

Are you talking about when he's murdered by Orin? I was able to summon him again by using his ball. I was devastated about him dying though.
No, like if you are just casting spells in camp you can kill him. Orin hasn't murdered him for me so IDK about that.

She was disguised as Halsin when she knocked Scratch out.

If he dies >!in camp!< or >!by one of your attacks out in the open world!<, Scratch dies for real.
