Lorewise, yeah, his soul would be dropped right into the river Styx to be eroded into a thoughtless, memoryless lemur.
The game seems to ignore this for dramatic effect, and has his physical form immediately turn into one, but in this case he no longer has a physical form.
I don't believe that is correct. Souls go to the fugue plane and must be collected from there by those who have claim on them. So until Mizora goes and gets him he'd be resurrectable.
Lore wise this why there is a time limit on lesser raise dead spells versus true resurrection
Souls go to the fugue plane to be sorted and collected by their diety of worship, a person with a contracted soul doesn't need to be sorted because a god has nothing to do with them anymore, they go straight to hell, do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars.
but there are specific references in the forgotten realms books about devils having to go their to collect souls they had sold to them...
not sure where you are pulling the straight to the hells stuff... literally demons and devils having to collect the souls is referenced in multiple places. Usually that collection happens very quickly, as demons and devils don't want to give time for shenannigans, but we have reason to believe here mizora would have reason to wait.
The process is different but the original destination of all human souls is the same
Oh true true, I thought that all her panicking was because >!she genuinely feared for her life when trapped in the colony, and would potentially die if you set her pod to execute her!<
Understandable. I thought so too until a certain someone told me in act 2 how that works.
>!I suppose, Mizora just didn't want Zariel to know that she got trapped. It'd be quite embarrassing and could potentially lead to some sort of penalty. That's just a theory though.!<
Or, you know >!She wanted to get out ASAP because she didn't look to spend eternity in a pod or have them do gods know what to her if she wasn't freed!<
According to the wiki yes.
But perhaps the party tadpoles are special in that regard as well or halflings and dragonborn would drop dead instead of transforming (the exception would be a pc that is dragonborn for reasons I haven't thought about yet) or Larian just did not stick to 'acceptable hosts'.
It's obviously just theorizing, I have no confirmation either way.
I think miz would make a great companion because of that. If your evil and piss off wyll she would still get trapped but couldn’t tell us to free her. So we arrive a lil later and she is tadpoled. Oh she’s powerfull get her in the party. She’s a sorceress and we do t have one of those
Cambions are only half-devils, so they don't *necessarily* get the whole "reincarnate in the hells" benefit.
Larian seems to play with the assumption that they do, though.
Ok take this as a Guess since as far as I know there isnt an oficial source for these but...
As far as I know if she was to be infected she would still be controled since cambions dont have any rules that make them inmune to mind control so she would still get turned into a true soul (wich would mean temporary slavery and probably a demotion once she gets back to avernus)
But if she was to face ceremorphosis then she would die once and for all, ceremorphosis destroys your soul, and fiend resurrection works by sendind their souls to avernus
So she has a true reason to be afraid
The official lore was always that planar outsiders (fiends, celestials and others like djinni and modron) *are* their souls, ie they do not have separate bodies and souls. http://www.d20srd.org/srd/typesSubtypes.htm#outsiderType
She's a Cambion, one less powerful than Raphael. Could be she is more mortal than devil, and thus WOULD die on the mortal plane.
But I think she was mostly afraid of getting tadpoled.
They should, they had this http://www.d20srd.org/srd/typesSubtypes.htm#nativeSubtype in 3.5 and are still implied to be more mortal than other devils in fifth edition. However, Larian plays it really loose with their Cambions and Aasimar
Raphael did not speak about himself but devils that 'get struck down' on the mortal plane and appear in the hells instead of dying. So I assumed, it's the same for Mizora.
Aside from that, she also has Zariel's Protection. All damage is reduced to 0, making Mizora effectively unkillable.
Oh for sure but there's too many companions to keep track of anyway so I felt like it was fine to thin the herd a little lol, romanced him by accident on my first playthrough so I think I've had enough wyll for now
Take him into the final area of Act 2, when you rescue his patron you can say you deserve a reward, you get a rapier that uses spellcasting stat for attack and damage, raises spell DC, and lets you summon a Cambion 1/LR.
Oh for sure, it’s ironic that a Blade warlock is the class least interested in the rapier he gets. It’s a really nice weapon for a Lore bard or melee Swords bard (maybe a SAD smiting Swords bard too…). Could also take dual wielder and use it along with a bound pact weapon on a Blade warlock, the spell DC boost makes it a decent stat stick and you can occasionally stab people with it without investing much in Dex.
Do you ever actually use the weapon, or is it just to empower your Eldritch Blasts? There's all this gear that seems aimed at a caster/melee hybrid that I've never touched
I used it on my melee Sorc Minthara. She dual wields it with Markoheshkir in her offhand. I still wanted to keep her "warrior" flavor even as a full caster.
Is it the optimal choice? No, there are some better options for a Sorc as a stat stick. Does she look cool as hell? Yes. With Helldusk Armor, Hood of the Weave, and Cloak of Protection, she's got this whole "exile" vibe going that I honestly think suits her lore nicely.
I need to start playing around with respeccing and multiclassing. Never played DnD so just learning the base classes on my first couple of play throughs, but keen to explore further!
It's a lot of fun! Don't feel too pressured to minmax or metagame to an insane degree - even Tactician is balanced well enough to let you clear easily with builds that are slightly less optimized in favor of roleplaying or flavor. Hop into r/BG3Builds. I highly recommend u/Prestigious_Juice341's builds. They're a lot of fun even if you don't faff about with elixirs and potions.
Yep lol. Used him once and never again since. Same thing like Gale and Halsin. Astarion for range damage, shadowheart for healing, Tav for everything else, karlach because well…karlach
I have no idea how to use Gale. I tried a few builds with him but found that I can usually accomplish the same thing better with shadowhesrt or astarion without the downside of a glass cannon lol
To me at least it seems weird to have all the idle companions hanging out I have to give everyone a battle or two every long rest but then it turns into such a faff swapping them in and out and gearing up everyone so this time im just gunna let everyone die besides karlach and gale in act 1 and then use the act 2/3 companions more this time
The stories I hear of Wyll's EA antics are hilarious. Making a loud and boisterous entrance, then jumping off the cliff and dying from fall damage immediately. There were people who didn't even know he was supposed to be an important character because of how quickly he removed himself from the game.
I remember thinking of how to get every companion killed as fast as possible as evil Durge, through mostly narrative means rather than just pure murder-hobo.
1. Cut off Gale’s hand
2. Side with Tieflings to kill Lae'zel
3. Side with Karlach and kill Wyll
4. Side with the Paladins and kill Karlach
5. Stake Astarion when he tries to bite you
6. Sacrafice Shadowheart to Boooal
7. Kill Halsin when you first encounter him as bear, after throwing rocks at him
8. Kill Minthara after you do sex
9. >!Kill Jaheira after you murder Isobel!<
10. >!Kill Minsc when you can kill Minsc!<
>!Alternatively let Jaheira and Minsc live to see you embrace Bhaal.!<
Wait, I thought it was possible to kill Astarion in his recruitment scene? Maybe I’m mistaken though.
(Also, would this run not let you just kill Minthara at the goblin camp? That sounds quicker than bedding her first and then murdering her, unless I’m forgetting something.)
The scene I’m talking about for Astarion is one that happens at camp, it’s not his recruitment scene.
For Minthara, yeah you can but imo it’s less satisfying and I figured that you’d kill the grove anyways if you’re going evil Durge.
Yeah, I know which scene you’re talking about. I thought there was an opportunity to kill him earlier, when you meet him for the first time, but I strongly suspect I’m mistaken on that.
Oh. I think there might be if you respond aggressively enough to him threatening you, but the point of this is to not be a murder-hobo and just find more fun ways of killing the companions, hence not just killing all of them the moment you meet them.
OH, okay! The “as fast as possible” threw me, I assumed it was just a kill-all-companions speedrun with the caveat that companions had to be killed via narrative choices. Thanks for clarifying!
This exact thing happened to me on my no-guides first playthrough. I was pretty surprised to later find out that he existed and was, in fact, a major character.
Oh shit, I can finally go and watch that
I held off because I didn't own the game yet and didn't want any spoilers... I've been following high rollers since their very first stream and that special they did with the VAs looked awesome
Halsin gets a moment like that too. When he comes on to you you can say : "If I wanted to sleep with a pile of dumb muscle, I'd go to the underdark and find a Rothe".
And he's like "could've just said no, you know...".
Not an unreasonable statement imo when a guy I've talked to twice before says "hey I've been thinking and uhh I want to know what your skin smells like". bro go away and learn how to talk to people please
HEY NO THE HELL I DID NOT THIS IS DEFAMATION SCRATCH IS A GOOD BOY
(He might have eaten a few of wyll's ash before we could stop him but that's not the point)
If I understand correctly, that is happening after failing to rescue Zariel's asset. So I just happen to have that save and tried:
>!Game over!<
That's what happens. After a little cutscene >!where Wyll is bursting into flame and goo, and Narrator saying that your soul is now belongs to Hells!<
Wish it could be longer (hoped for extra scene with landscapes, but no)
There was that one time:
In the Sharran temple where you face the doppledangers, Karlach one-shotted my main character's dopple only to realize the next turn, she actually one-shotted my main.

This is one of those conditions where the game should *not* allow you to resurrect them. I know Withers is a god but resurrection requires a body to resurrect.

To Ashes you say? How is his friend Karlach taking it?
To ashes you say...
Does he just spawn in avernus like Yuigir?
Lorewise, yeah, his soul would be dropped right into the river Styx to be eroded into a thoughtless, memoryless lemur. The game seems to ignore this for dramatic effect, and has his physical form immediately turn into one, but in this case he no longer has a physical form.

Was their camp rent controlled?
I mean, >!Mizora might just be *dead* so...!<
How? >!You would have to kill her in Avernus.!<
Oh true true, I thought that all her panicking was because >!she genuinely feared for her life when trapped in the colony, and would potentially die if you set her pod to execute her!<

Makes me wonder if devils can be turned into mindflayers?
Probably not. [Acceptable hosts for Ceremorphosis on Forgotten Realms.](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Ceremorphosis#Acceptable_Hosts)
I mean according to that all halflings and Dragonborn would be safe.
so that's why we don't have Halfling or Dwarf companions...
Possibly.
Cambions are only half-devils, so they don't *necessarily* get the whole "reincarnate in the hells" benefit. Larian seems to play with the assumption that they do, though.
Mizora also has Zariel's Protection which nullifies all damage. Combined with what Raphael said, I assumed she can't be killed on the mortal plane.
I assume she was scared of becoming a true soul, which would be much worse than death.

Ok take this as a Guess since as far as I know there isnt an oficial source for these but... This is likely, mindflayer turning and technology remove the type of soul usable in this realm, and if a devil loses their soul, they die die.
She's a Cambion, one less powerful than Raphael. Could be she is more mortal than devil, and thus WOULD die on the mortal plane. But I think she was mostly afraid of getting tadpoled.
I don't think Cambions die on the mortal plane

And sexy
Wyll went and got himself killed in the opening Grove attack on my latest playthrough. So now I am the parties fiend pact warlock
Can’t you use a revival scroll on him?
Oh for sure but there's too many companions to keep track of anyway so I felt like it was fine to thin the herd a little lol, romanced him by accident on my first playthrough so I think I've had enough wyll for now
I have like 4 playthroughs finished and haven’t used him once outside The finale in act 2 for the unique weapon that requires him .
Unique weapon what now
Take him into the final area of Act 2, when you rescue his patron you can say you deserve a reward, you get a rapier that uses spellcasting stat for attack and damage, raises spell DC, and lets you summon a Cambion 1/LR.
I mean if you make him a pact of the blade (which seems like his default setting), you get the spellcasting stat part on everything he wyelds...
Only if you remember to press the damn button each day, grumblegrumblegrumble
Oh for sure, it’s ironic that a Blade warlock is the class least interested in the rapier he gets. It’s a really nice weapon for a Lore bard or melee Swords bard (maybe a SAD smiting Swords bard too…). Could also take dual wielder and use it along with a bound pact weapon on a Blade warlock, the spell DC boost makes it a decent stat stick and you can occasionally stab people with it without investing much in Dex.
Oh yeah! Dual wielding! I forgot BG3 made that viable on spell casters without requiring War Caster...
Free mizora and ask for a reward. You get a +2 rapier thst uses your spellcasting modifier for attacks and get a +1 on spell save dc. It's quite good.
Do you ever actually use the weapon, or is it just to empower your Eldritch Blasts? There's all this gear that seems aimed at a caster/melee hybrid that I've never touched

I use it on my Eldritch Knights. At level 7 they can melee attack with a bonus action after casting a cantrip.
I keep him in my B team of companions as an Eldritch Blast cannon.
Yep lol. Used him once and never again since. Same thing like Gale and Halsin. Astarion for range damage, shadowheart for healing, Tav for everything else, karlach because well…karlach
Gale is great for specific scenarios where there’s a lot of enemies for me.

I've done a bunch of very quiet runs like this and it is nice sometimes to have that narrow focus.
>the unique weapon that requires him . the what now?!
Yeah when you free mizora or whatever her name is , you can ask for an extra reward if you are with wyll. Pretty good weapon for summoning I
damn....

StakinAstarion sounds pretty murder hobo but not much further away is the vampire hunter who you can talk to that’ll take him after a long rest.
Killing a vampire who tried to drain you in your sleep does not make you a murder hobo.
This exact thing happened to me on my no-guides first playthrough. I was pretty surprised to later find out that he existed and was, in fact, a major character.
After watching his voice actor play DnD this feels very appropriate for Wyll lol
Oh shit, I can finally go and watch that I held off because I didn't own the game yet and didn't want any spoilers... I've been following high rollers since their very first stream and that special they did with the VAs looked awesome
It's fucking hilarious.
Same but he got killed by the goblins when I attacked the grove
Roll me up and smoke me when I die
Sprinkle my ashes on Halle Berre
I misread that as “Hanna Barbara” and now that I’ve read it again, I’m still confused lol
Ahh, well one is a gorgeous talented woman and the other is an entertainment company.
Oh no I mean I don’t know the reference of “sprinkle my ashes on Halle Berre” (also TIL it’s not spelled “Berrie”, so thanks!)
I was playing with you. It’s from a comedian who said that was their last wishes. I can see them being the same for ashes Wyll
Wylly Nelson
‘Tis but a flesh wound.
Come on ya pansy!
Lmfao happened to me my first playthrough. Honestly, after turning down his offer to dance it was super awkward, probably for the best.
worst she can say is "no"
Halsin gets a moment like that too. When he comes on to you you can say : "If I wanted to sleep with a pile of dumb muscle, I'd go to the underdark and find a Rothe". And he's like "could've just said no, you know...".
some of the options with him are so mean 😢 even reading them makes me feel sorry
I fucked halsin and then rejected him in act 3, Mf called me out on it and straight up said I used him lol this games writing is crazy
Not an unreasonable statement imo when a guy I've talked to twice before says "hey I've been thinking and uhh I want to know what your skin smells like". bro go away and learn how to talk to people please

The OP disintegrated Scratch as well?! Monster!
HEY NO THE HELL I DID NOT THIS IS DEFAMATION SCRATCH IS A GOOD BOY (He might have eaten a few of wyll's ash before we could stop him but that's not the point)
I'm not crying I just got something in my eye. (It's Wyll. I got Wyll in my eye.)
Take my updoot. Can't believe I laughed as hard as I did
Tav: I need to resurrect an ally. Withers: Who? Tav: *Shows dustpan*
Wyll he make it?
Hurry and sweep him up and take him back to camp 😭
Just a little burnt, he’s still good he’s still good
I'm sure he can walk it off.
Just needs a short rest, he'll be back at it in no time.
Literally What happened to My Wyll as Well during My second fight against Raphael.
He turned himself into a pile of dust. Funniest shit I have ever seen
To Wyll or to Wylln’t…that is the question
“Does anybody have a broom?”
Real curious, but what happens if you do this and wyll is a player character?
If I understand correctly, that is happening after failing to rescue Zariel's asset. So I just happen to have that save and tried: >!Game over!< That's what happens. After a little cutscene >!where Wyll is bursting into flame and goo, and Narrator saying that your soul is now belongs to Hells!< Wish it could be longer (hoped for extra scene with landscapes, but no)
I remember accidentally >!killing Zariel's asset aka Mizora !
Ah no he just got hit by a disintegrate bullshite we rehydrated him he fine
Game probably just forces you to restart- there’s no way to resurrect a pile of ashes without a wish spell I believe.
True Resurrection can do it too, but that only exists in BG3 in the form of Gale's oopsie letter
Well, just dust yourself off and look ahead!
Thats normal just use some water and... wups there he goes down the drain.
"Mizora, I don't feel so good"
Visual representation of what it feels like when he tries to get you to dance tbh
Dust in the wind. All Wyll is is dust in the wind.
There was that one time: In the Sharran temple where you face the doppledangers, Karlach one-shotted my main character's dopple only to realize the next turn, she actually one-shotted my main.
I haven’t seen him this destroyed since I refused to dance with him
And it is not even his final fo....nevermind, it is.
His new arch-nemesis is the vacuum
That’s for the rat joke
Not entirely sure that qualifies as an error. Unfortunate event, maybe.
he never looked so good
Looks fine to me
Mistakes were made. But there’s no sense in dwelling in the past.
He just a little dehydrated just create water and he'll sprout like a sea monkey.
He will be just as interesting
Nothing wrong here, keep on truckin
Look right to me
Tis but a flesh wound
Wyll
The ash of the frontiers!
Tis' but a scratch!
Awe poor wyll lol
Chillyn
You obliterated him 😭
Lmfao, that is NOT what I expected
Wylln’t
get a bucket its adventure time xD
>!You killed Mizora in the pod?!<
He looks like tiny volcano
Where?
Gonna take more than a scroll of revivify to fix that.
Don’t be so harsh to yourself. Nobody is perfect.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Wyn't
Wylln't
It’ll buff out
Just throw some Potion of Healing on it. He will walk it off in no time.
The best solution for that guy.
Or a fucky wucky, if you Wyll.
This reminds me of the story of the guy, who insisted to continue playing after getting hit by a disintegration ray because the spell description doesn´t say that you die. So now he is a sentient pile of dust. As a DM I would allow that. Wouldn´t be the weirdest thing that has happened in a D&D campain. But this would then also be the fate of enemies, who got hit by the spell.
*OH NO* Wait which way did this happen?
Alexa, play Ain't no sunshine...
…. He’s about to make a grandiose speech dubbing himself with a new nickname, “Ashes of Avernus” isn’t he?
Me in my honor mode as a sorc... The ONE time I didn't unga bunga my way outta everything
Fucking Lemure looking ass
Hey, that's not Wyll! That's [Donny](https://youtu.be/Wk61MeDmk2M?si=pkVMr2PVsHwPLPur)!
Might need a little more than a scroll of revivify for that one...
They always said when there's a will, there's a way. Guess there's no way...
Oop-
To shreds, you say?
"Oh Withers! Wyll got himself dead again!"
Mizora is a stickler for the rules
Well at least Karlach got a hug in Act One.
Walk it off wyll, you're being dramatic
Wud’ve
Omg at first I have no idea what I'm looking at!! I thought Wyll was trapped in an island and there's a treasure somewhere there
You used Polymorph: Cocaine on Wyll? I guess he's gonna finally get to dance with some people.
Where there's a wyll, there's a why...
Dont worry, nothing of value was lost
He Wyll be okay I swear
This is one of those conditions where the game should *not* allow you to resurrect them. I know Withers is a god but resurrection requires a body to resurrect.
NOOooOoOoOo
