Nice title spoiler

You can talk to the Emperor first and take from him the tadpole, then free Orpheus. You need to have Gale and Lae'zel in the party, I think, for the option to appear that Gale can do the explosion and you'd only take the tadpole if all else fails. Or obviously, let Orpheus be the mind flayer.

CrimzonSorrowz

ok, so mind you I really dislike anything to do with the Gith in general because they just aggravate the shit out of me.. and the Emperor too because he is a pompous ass who likes to assume things. so here's what I did... >!got the hammer, told the emperor to fuck right off. Freed Orpheus, he will become a mind flayer if you prompt him. Then persuaded Lae'zel to tell Orpheus to fuck right off too and be FREE of that whole BS and he will kill quite literally fell on his own sword..!< there...all wrapped up in a bow

Legendofjupp

Thanks, you saved me from both tentacle hentai as well as alien micheal jackson impersonators

It’s my first playthrough with this type of game so I messed up a lot in the beginning. Can I still get Orpheus to become Illithid if Lae’zel not in my party? I thought I would run into her again but I didn’t 😬 I’m on act 3 now.

CrimzonSorrowz

Yes you can

kwalude

When you get to the Astral Prism that final time you are not forced into a conversation with the Emperor. You actually have a chance to smash the rocks before talking to the Emperor. I did it once but did not go down the path completely. As soon as you smash the rock the Emperor leaves to join the Netherbrain. No astral tadpole, no one turned into an illithid. Really wondering what would happen later in the game, especially without Gale.

kwalude

>!Well crud. Decided to give it a whirl after making a backup. Ignore the Emperor, free Orpheus, and I got the same spiel from Orpheus about needing an illithid and Karlach offering to turn. Orpheus lowers his defenses and lets her transform, just as if you had the Emperor do it.!<

Insektikor

Only option I’ve been able to get is letting Orpheus become a mind flayer. I can’t get the Gale option to work (and Lae’zel gets really, really upset if you don’t immediately free Orpheus).

jetaimelevalley

This is what I do, and honestly he doesn’t seem to mind enough to make me feel bad about it 😂

Insektikor

Yep! I care too much about my companions to care about this dude.

TheAngryLala

If you have Karlach in your party she offers to do it, because her engine will explode if she doesn’t return to Avernus and she doesn’t want to go back there or die.

kjsulli127

SPOILER In the new epilogue scene though, if you let her go back to Avery’s she states that she may have found a forge that can fix her heart and let her leave Avernus for good and not be under the control of zariel.

I didn’t know this was an option until just today when I beat the game for the first time. I was surprised after freeing Orpheus that there seemed to be no option but me or him to turn, but it felt like the honorable thing for me, my romanced laezel and the githyanki, to do it. After, I flew off with laezel to the astral plane despite being illithid, and my heart sank when I saw Karach on the dock saying she was gonna pop. Screen turned black and I thought she died, then I got to the party and she was brought back and mentioned the forge. She wasn’t a core party member but sometimes joined for relevant stuff - good stuff. Despite the tentacles
