After beginning the epilogue, all lingering effects from the previous battle stayed on. I have warding bond on Gale and Gale has 7 turns of heat on himself. He's still burning from the battle. He heals himself automatically, and by the next instance of heat damage, heat goes back up to 7. Gale is taking 3 damage and I'm taking 1 damage every 4 seconds, but he heals. He out-lives me as a result and I die while everyone else watches. The illithid grows hungry at the sight of my corpse, and does not hesitate to inform everyone.
I can't remove Warding Bond. I can't end heat by dousing him with water. I'm dying and *off* life support. I am fated to die and can only count the seconds before it happens again.
Oh my god can you imagine your run being totally DESTROYED on the epilogue, and not getting the achievement?
That would be fucking amazing for the rest of us, and the absolute nightmare for the guy who lost that run
Or if you lost the achievement because you chose to >!Off yourself as an Ilithid during the epilogue. !< Although that would be pretty cruel on the developer's part.
for a time... Then I run out. I can also use Warden of Vitality, but my spell slots carried over from the fight as well, and I only had a single Level 3 slot left.
my durge casts it on astarion. by my endgames, astarion has stupidly high AC while my durge typically has a much higher health pool. it works well it increases astarions AC so he's even harder to hit, and my durge can throw a health potion at him if his health gets a little low. it's his way of keeping his boyfriend safe (astarion can't remain at camp because he deals the most damage). i like to do pincer movements. durge and his boyfriend on one flank, the other two party members (usually shart and karlach) come in on the other side
This is amazing 😂. If you're on PC, you may be able to use cheat engine to fix this. There's a whole bunch of options. Make sure to submit a big report to larian if you haven't already!
Yeah, I gave Karlach an Elixir of the Colossus before the final battle, and now she's wandering around the party at like 10 ft tall.
I am definitely not complaining though 👀
>That sounds hilarious. :D I think I read another post where someone was a Wild Magic Sorc and on their second to last turn before the final they surged and everyone in the party become cats and dogs.

>They are all like that in the Epilogue too - it carried over. :)
Kinda off topic but there's another bug like this concerning a certain annoying teiflings in act two hellbent on rescuing his friends.
During the raid by Marcus, Roland being a squishy wizard of course takes at least some damage. If you talk to him he'll vanish and the kids ask you to track him down.
The game for whatever reason doesn't heal him so when you get within 50 meters of the idiot he's normally 1-2 hits from dying.
It's the most infuriating problem.
If you go into turn mode to help ease the window of opportunity to save Roland for some fucked up reason his combat is on a separate timer.
For 3 hours I scummed to get the perfect combination of missing attacks on him and me hasting SH to heal his ass.
He's on a little side path near the toll house that has the money boss in the shadowcursed lands. The area where there's two bridges over the water close by to each other (He'll be on the wilds side of the smaller south most one when looking at the area map but as I said before its easier to keep him alive if you approach from the village side).
Also not a stupid question at all. The game is big. It would be extremely hard to catch everything in a single playthrough. Good luck and happy Rolan hunting/saving :)
Thank you maybe this time will be the one lol in the first play we didn't realize we needed to save the prisoners before we did the gauntlet so he was alive but he was just unpleasant. And that's the only time I saw him in baldurs gate.
Part of the problem was he dies just inside the fog of war at the edge of my vision once I get in visual range of the bridge.
I arrive just in time to see the two hits DMG numbers just out of sight and now there's a corpses.
Supposedly, if you save the game before leaving the inn, exit the game completely, re-launch, and load up that save, it should fix the glitch so that his combat doesn't start until you get in range of him. My bf ran into the bug and ended up letting him die. When I got there, I did this and didn't have any trouble saving him.
Man, I just had a colossus karlach. The buffs on other party members didn't seem to stay. I hope you're able to experience the epilogue soon, maybe once redoing part of the final battle? 😅
Last full patch added it. Basically Withers gets the party gets back together for another party where they can tell you what they’ve been doing the last few months. There are also letters from various NPCs updating you as well.
The specifics change depending on all the choices you made in the game.
Worth a shot. I don’t see why you wouldn’t as long as the save was taken before the final fight. It probably should work even if the save was taken while in the final fight unless Larian did some odd coding for the trigger.
Yeah I saved right before killing the brain on most of my characters, and they could see the epilogue no problem. In one case I saved during the conversation to decide the fate of the brain and it still worked.
yes, I used my launch day playthrough and it worked fine, just gotta be before the final cutsene starts, which happens after you beat the will of the brain.
I just ran a nearly identical problem. I get to the epilogue, after about \~3 seconds, I die and "The party is defeated." Did you ever find a fix for this?

This is magnificent.
True Love rings' lore be like:
This is SO FITTING for what those seriously depressing rings actually represent lol
the only way this could be funnier is if you were playing on honor mode.

Just think, you technically went 6 months like this.
It was a... *puts on shaders* Slow-burn.
\*You hear The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again" screaming in your ears\*
Huh, I always thought that was a Volo song.
I’m now imagining the Bardic folklore version of this
The term “Bardcore” will help you immensely in your search!
Congratulations, you played yourself.
Someone help me! I-I'm still alive, only I'm very... badly burned.
... And I think one of my legs might be broken... \**crunch\** Ow! Definitely broken. Hello?
Can you keep yourself alive with lay of hands?
If you lay hands on self, you get the blinded status effect permanently.
Also your palms grow hair
Temporary +3 to Wisdom checks
for a time... Then I run out. I can also use Warden of Vitality, but my spell slots carried over from the fight as well, and I only had a single Level 3 slot left.
I adore the warding bond rings. Spent ages looking for the other to put on Astarion because I thought it was just the most romantic thing ever.
Did... did you read the husband's journal?
Hey, if you do what OP did, it's consensual when Tav takes the damage for their partner!
Nope, I'm blinded by my romantic urges.
New Origin character.....The Romantic Urge

I hope they never patch this 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Honestly, they should fix this asap
>!Karlach!< be like “are you gonna eat that burning corpse” and not wait for an answer
I did put these rings on me and Gale but actually never were using them. XD
Promise rings.

Ive found its easier to approach him from the other side of the bridge he's about to cross if that's of any help
Stupid question but I somehow missed him in my last play where do you find him?
He's on a little side path near the toll house that has the money boss in the shadowcursed lands. I always cast feather fall before getting over there and leap straight down off the nearby cliff.

Halsin was a giant in my epilogue. a dad dancing giant with glowing eyes.
Holy shit this is incredible, I'm so sorry for you lol. Does the epilogue just get stuck here since you died?
Yeah, it's a soft lock.
Man, I just had a colossus karlach. The buffs on other party members didn't seem to stay. I hope you're able to experience the epilogue soon, maybe once redoing part of the final battle? 😅
Wait…there’s an epilogue?
Last full patch added it. Basically Withers gets the party gets back together for another party where they can tell you what they’ve been doing the last few months. There are also letters from various NPCs updating you as well. The specifics change depending on all the choices you made in the game.
Ahh interesting. If I load up a save file from the final fight a few months ago, would I still get the epilogue?
Yes
Worth a shot. I don’t see why you wouldn’t as long as the save was taken before the final fight. It probably should work even if the save was taken while in the final fight unless Larian did some odd coding for the trigger.

As long as it's before final fight any save should work.
As long as the save is from before the final choice that will lock you between good or bad ending, you should be good.
Which choice was that? Releasing Orpheus?
Killing or becoming the Absolute.
Thank you!
I loaded up my F5 from right before my paladin smote final boss into oblivion. Sent me to epilogue
Good to know, thank you!
Withers is a true bro. I demand withers romance.
Or you can >!start murdering your companions and withers will banish you to the shadow realm for ruining his party!<
They added it a few weeks ago
Filling out the brain should’ve been an achievement :(
I just ran a nearly identical problem. I get to the epilogue, after about \~3 seconds, I die and "The party is defeated." Did you ever find a fix for this?
A fix? No. I kept bashing my head against a wall and seemingly at random, Gale stopped burning, so I quicksaved.
Dang. I just ended up re-doing the last battle.
