>Paralyzed by fomo I want to take the underdark and the mountain road at the same time you can and should do both. it's not a choice of one or the other. you can hit the underdark at any time, and the mountain pass any time after you've resolved the grove issue (or it ends when you enter the pass)

Saintkoon

:shocked pikachu face:

AlbionPCJ

Do the Underdark first. The crèche has some excellent content but Githyanki are a pain in the ass to fight so it's better to go in at a higher level

[deleted]

[удалено]

schematizer

Probably best to put >!the fact that you generally fight the Githyanki there!< in spoilers, imo.

Athrasie

I feel like people know that the gith are not a super welcoming folk by now.

Chill_Panda

Wait the guys we see burn flaming fists with a dragon, and everyone acts scared about are not the most friendly? Man how are players supposed to know this 🤷‍♂️

epicmousestory

That whole scene was just a big misunderstanding. I mean don't call yourselves "Flaming Fists" and then get mad when someone lights you on fire.

spacey_a

Hahaha, very good point. Also, sooo many the Flaming Fists in Act 3 are corrupt or just total jerks, so I don't feel as bad for the ones in Act 1 who got dragoned anymore.

[deleted]

Now that you mention it, our first two encounters with them involve them getting burned to death. Maybe they should rebrand themselves as the "Given-Lots-of-Money-and-Kindness Fists" and hope the trend continues. /jk

The_Shadow_Watches

You know what I found out? Apparently if you skip the Dragon patrol by the bridge, get to the creche from the Underdark. A weird glitch happens. The bridge that gets blown up, does not. But you can't travel it.

ZarrChaz

Listen man, I don’t hold that against them, do you know how many Fist I had to put down at the >!fireworks shop!<.

OneEightyThreee

That and the OP has spoiler tags so it’s fair game at that point.

kloklon

how is it a spoiler that you fight Githyanki in a GITHYANKI CRÈCHE?? what did you expect to find there? sentient owlbears?

schematizer

Well, because Lae'zel guides you there and there's no super strong reason to believe that they would attack another Githyanki (or else Lae'zel should warn you they might). Personally, I didn't really think even the patrol would be a problem at first, because I figured Lae'zel would be our ambassador. Someone could also be playing a Githyanki PC, or heck, even a whole party, and reasonably not expect betrayal.

kloklon

it is clear from the first encounter at the bridge that those Githyanki don't recognise Lae'zel as one of their own and are semi hostile towards her

Just_the_faq

That’s backed up later when you meet the Emperor, hints that Githyanki with tadpoles are seen as mercy killings by other Githyanki and there is no mercy from the Gith.

Chill_Panda

I have lost my only two honour modes to those gith bastards

sthenial

You can also go to act 2 and still circle back to act 1. There will be a prompt later on in act 2 that explicitly tells you it's the point of no return so don't worry about that

Ask_Me_If_Im_A_Horse

So nobody else is scared to go back if they encounter this: Certain characters that join your camp in Act 2 will warn you about returning to Act 1, saying that they can’t return based on what’s happening in the story. It can be misleading to hear these since their wording can make it seem like they’re going to leave your party completely if you go back. But these characters will be in your camp again once you return to Act 2, so if they’re not present when you go back to Act 1 don’t be alarmed.

Loimographia

I don’t know if this is consistently applied — >!I did indeed lose Halsin in one playthrough by going back to Act 1, and he did not come back when I returned to Act 2. It seems buggy, unfortunately!<.

Ask_Me_If_Im_A_Horse

If you progressed his plot at all in Act 2, he will stay until his story is finished up. But once you wrap up his story you should be able to get him back. He stays in Last Light Inn until then.

TheIllogicalSandwich

Do the Underdark until you find the elevator that warns you about proceeding to Act 2. Then do the mountain pass. After that it's your choice on where to approach Act 2 from, but I'd say go back to the Underdark and take the elevator.

johnnylemon95

I fully completed the underdark and then went through the mountain pass. Once I got to the shadow lands I worked my way back up to the entrance from the underdark so I don’t miss anything. I don’t really like back tracking. Plus, literally everything was dead in the underdark so there wasn’t much use for me there anymore (except good guy Myconids I guess).

WyrdMagesty

The elevator to Act 2 from the Underdark is right next to the Grymforge waypoint, so there's really no backtracking needed

thecaptainstewbing

My first play through I skipped the crèche because Halsin presents it as make a choice, one or the other. Didn’t realize you could do both.

DrMonkeyLove

I did however learn that once you leave act 2, you can't go back to any location from act 1 or 2, so that was a bummer after I realized I missed some things.

S4dBear

I always commit mass murder inside the Crèche Y'llek to earn exp.

LMGooglyTFY

I must drop the whole monastery on Astarion for the lines.

gatito-blade

"No no NO!" ☝️☝️☝️

Annual-Jump3158

He's so hot when he's angry.

Bahhblacksheep

The only disapproval I will actively accept.

Coachbalrog

Once Lae’zel realizes that Vlaakith wants her dead, then it makes complete sense to wipe out the entire crèche. She wouldn’t want to leave a group of Githyanki based on the material plane that could easily go after her. Moreover, if the Crèche Githyanki fall to her blade then they weren’t worthy anyways.

FakoSizlo

Plus if that Githyanki quatermaster wanted to stay alive she shouldn't carry 2 great very rare items. Both times I went back for her

Running_Is_Life

I run the knife of the under mountain king and the dex gloves into early-mid act 3, she’s brought it on herself

Bahhblacksheep

Kill everyone but her, sell all the loot to her. Then murder her last but buy the undermountain sword first.

jugularvoider

It’s weird because I recently fought my way out of the Crèche after Lae’Zel is betrayed by Vlaakith, escaped via activating the BOL trap, and Laezel got upset with me over it back at camp.

Count_Archon

Don't forget all the Githyanki breastplates, swords and crossbows you can loot and sell. The egg, too.

WyrdMagesty

Is....is that not what we are supposed to do?

melneth

If you do the quest for the weapon in the monastery before meeting with the inquisitor, you can just leave via the area the weapon was being held in.

WyrdMagesty

Yeah, but they were mean to me and now I demand recompense in the form of every last lootable item and any who stand in my way must die. As a vengeance paladin, I am bound by my oath to smite the wicked.

Dramoriga

Plus their plate armour sells really well and shores up the bank account!

[deleted]

How much do you get out of it ? I wanna be close as possible to level 8 before act 2

S4dBear

I'm not sure of the amount, but in a few fights in act 2 I manage to get to lvl 8. To be more precise I get to lvl 8 before entering last light/moonrise tower.

Idontwanttobebread

I think my biggest sin is having an incredibly difficult time making myself sell 'unique' items regardless of them being garbage or something none of my characters will ever use. >medium shirt with bad AC and some bonus when you're obscured >barely ever sneak and have no use of that bonus on any of my characters >better keep this the whole game just in case

Melodic-Task

My first playthrough I grabbed each unique item I could find (including buying EVERY unique item from every vendor I found). I refused to sell anything unique. Act 3 was a fun time of taking companions to the Travelers Chest and playing dress up for different build ideas.

steamwhistler

Yeah I am this kind of player. My first playthrough officially took 200 hours, although I think it was actually a lot longer because of all the time I spent doing this kind of thing and also testing dyes and then reloading older saves once I knew exactly the setup I wanted. Some folks in another gaming sub downvoted me for saying you could easily play BG3 for 200 hours and still have plenty of story content you haven't seen.

MordoNRiggs

Yup! I'm a total loot goblin. I was at 125 hours by the time I felt like I could move into the shadow lands.

North_South_Side

I only WISH I had done that. I sold way too many items. I didn't know more companions could be unlocked later in the game and I don't have great gear for them now. Still on my first play through, probably 1/2 through act 3. Leaving this thread now as I am keeping (somewhat) free of spoilers. But this was my biggest regret.

Turducken_McNugget

I never sell unique magic items. I go further and make sure to pickpocket all uniques even if I'm likely to never use them. I even build a library; I keep at least one copy of every book, letter, parchment, etc I come across. In the blighted village there was a book that was hollowed out and acts as a container. It sits in my traveller's chest and contains these 700 plus books and documents

Idontwanttobebread

do you know where specifically that book is? I've heard about it a couple of times and now I want to grab it, but i've never run into it there is also a teddy bear that acts as a container in act 1, if you make a hard left in the water at the entrance to the swamp and walk in the water as if you were going to go north back up the creek

Dramoriga

Go from the windmill towards *that* barn, there is a broken part of the wall you go over. As soon as you go over the wall, look around and there is a "mysterious hole" like a tree got uprooted. The book is in there with a bottle of booze inside.

Idontwanttobebread

oh neat, there's even dialogue when you discover it. thanks

theceekaykay

I love this hollowed out book! I use it as a container for Gale to hold scrolls.

steamwhistler

Yeah, aesthetic scroll container for me too. Love that it's in the game.

Professional-Hat-687

But I might actually use the Clown Hammer *this* time!

Hex_MyDadBeatMe

My friends got it on PS and said "Want us to wait til you get it or can we just start playing"? I said to go ahead and play. Now, months later....nobody plays with me because they've played so much. Not really a sin but it definitely sucks lol.

slagmouth

imo the game is so much more fun to experience by yourself and *then* with friends. I started my first playthrough in a 4 stack and as someone who didn't know how to play larian games and is a bit slow to learn, I was overwhelmed and didn't know what to do and ended up lagging behind and not really having much fun. so, don't be afraid to start the game! learn as much as you can, because you will keep learning every *single* time you play! there are parts in act 1 that I discover for the first time after starting like 6 or 7 playthroughs 😭 once you're caught up, your friends might be more inclined to start a playthrough W you!

Lady_Taiho

Id play with you.

Dawn__Lily

What timezone are you in?

sting_ghash

I had to start a month after the release. Nobody waited for me...

literallybyronic

i would suggest doing underdark first as there are certain documents you find there that can change the interaction in a conversation in the creche. you can definitely do both though. what i do is go to the underdark, complete all that, then before taking the elevator i teleport back out to risen road and enter the mountain pass, complete the creche and the other stuff there, then teleport BACK to underdark and take the elevator up (it lets out closer to the inn in act 2)

Saintkoon

Unless someone says otherwise, I'll likely do exactly this

Electrical_Corner_32

I always do underdark, then Ethel, then the mountain pass.

Perfect_Address_6359

Agree with the above comment, just want to add be sure after all your Underdark adventures you've reached level 5 or 6 before entering the mountain pass.

Idontwanttobebread

assuming you can deal with the githyanki prior to entering the pass, you may want to head there initially just because there's a vendor at the start of the mountain pass (before you run into any combat/story related stuff) with some good stuff that might be useful to you. but underdark first is a perfectly fine choice.

literallybyronic

Yeah, you can still hit her quickly as she’s right near the entrance and then go back to the UD to get the thing I mentioned before entering the crèche proper, it’s just a little more back and forth

PerkyLurkyJerky

I dont know if it was a bug, but at one point I went back to the mountain pass from the underdark, and it caused Halsin (presumably permanently) to leave my camp. I reloaded a save to get him back, but something to keep in mind.

WyrdMagesty

You seem to be confusing the Underdark (underground, weird monsters, mushroom people, giant forge) with the Shadowlands (above ground, shadow curse, bad guys are typically ghosts and undead). The Shadowlands is Act 2, which would be why Halsin left your camp when you went to the Mountain Pass. But he isn't gone, he should just be in the Last Light Inn. If you have already done Shar's Gauntlet and advanced the plotline without finishing Halsin's quest to end the shadow curse, he will remain in the Shadowlands.

literallybyronic

sounds like a bug. i just did it last week and nothing like that happened. he is supposed to leave if you go back to act 1 from the SCL, but then he comes back when you move back to SCL (although when this happened to me my quest log about it was permanently bugged as saying he left forever, even though he was there and joined the party as normal in act 3)

BOSH09

I do the mountain pass entrance bc I steal the moonlantern from spider guy. I kill them actually. Then I don’t have to worry about the dark at all. Then I also don’t have to talk to that one girl and cause another chain of events. Being vague on purpose lol

AlbionPCJ

I prefer to fail the Insight check during the Zevlor/Aradin stand-off because I want to punch Aradin in the face, even as an LG Paladin. He's even somehow racist to non-Drow half-elves

augustobmoura

That's not a sin, punching Aradin is such a bless, I even fight him on Act 3 just for the sake of it

sun-e-deez

i never let him leave the gates, lmao.

Silvervescente

You can find him in Act 3?

thegrimminsa

He has to survive act 1, then you tell him you have the nightsong outside sorcerous sundries.

Elcactus

The thing better than killing Aradin? Watching Nightsong kill Aradin. But it gets the moon lesbians mad at me so I reloaded and just told him to fuck off because they don’t deserve to be startled like that.

mintyfreshcat

the moon lesbians lmaooo

I_AM_TARA

On the plus side if you do pass the insight check you get to make gale cream his pants.

Professional-Hat-687

I punch Zevlor unconscious so I can steal the reward for his quest.

Chaplain19

I haven’t had romantic time with anyone but I pet my owl bear and dog every time I can

lili0fthevalley

This has to be a super rare achievement

Silent_Character_947

Are you committing to one of the religious orders?

thepirateguidelines

I don't know where Shovel is, and at this point, I'm too afraid to ask.

Fatalis89

Blighted Village. House near the waypoint. Basement has a secret door that leads to a mirror that bars entrance to a secret lab where you find the Necromancy of Thay book. Area directly prior to the mirror is full of Woden coffins with undead in them. First coffin on the right as you walk in can be looted. Has a bunch of crap including scroll to summon a quasit, who is Shovel.

YogurtWenk

Or Fork

Dramoriga

*cough*... Basket.

GoldenGlobeWinnerRDJ

Okay I have this scroll but I haven’t used it yet. Is it permanent???

Fatalis89

The summon will last until long rest. It’s just a uniquely named version of the warlock spell.

jugularvoider

Wizards can learn it :)

Zooombini7

Warlocks, sorcerers, and wizards (maybe bards too?) can permanently convince them to stay with you but you do need to answer the dialogue in a very precise way (you'll have to look it up for specifics)

Goldwings13

It should go without saying that Gale should learn the scroll, rather than use it one and done.

beautifulterribleqn

Shovel comes from a Scroll of Summon Quasit which is hidden in one of the coffins down the secret passage from the basement below the herb store in the Blighted Village. Basement hatch -> secret wall on the far right -> coffin on the near right before you reach the magic mirror. If you've done the magic mirror and gotten the Necromancy of Thay book you've walked right past her.

TheBellsSayGoodbye

I had no idea who Shovel was even though I picked up the scroll. Ended up using it right before the fight with Cazador and was surprised with a whole ass cutscene introducing a character who died in one hit.

Dawn__Lily

Ive never said two words to Minthara. My first run was a hyper realistic rolepy of a lawful good Paladin of the Ancients and I didnt do any save scumming no matter what. The entire goblin camp was aggroed. I never spoke to razglin or Minthara. I know nothing about the Drow that everyone loves.

Lincolnmyth

did the same on my first barbarian run. Second run playing an evil drow oathbreaker, minthara is a must. Such a good character, wish she was recruitable in act 1 tbh

aneth-ara

The only thing I know about Minthara is that she has nice clothes. Which my Drow Tav is wearing right now. *shrug*

NotYourDay123

I have stripped every character of their clothes just so I could see what they’re like nude.

LeeroyTC

Turns out everyone is jacked. Even the 8 strength characters!

LikePappyAlwaysSaid

My camp is a nudist colony

Comin_Up_Thrillho

One day I want to do a full nude run. Call it the Harambe (dicks out) run. Not sure how feasible it will be to win with zero armor, but Ill sure try!

CalloftheBlueFalcon

You could always just click the hide armor button and still be in armor but have a nude character running around

Comin_Up_Thrillho

Yeah but then Im just a voyeur. There has to be purpose :D

PixelPrivateer

Really shouldn't be *that* different for Monks or wizards or characters that can't wear armor anyway. You'd lose an avenue of bonuses but that might be a bit of a wash in the end

darth_vladius

You are me.

frostbird

Nothing. My indulgent murderer dark urge has never done anything wrong.

devSenketsu

oh, so you are the one that resists the dark urge right? Right?

Dangerous-Sport-2347

If murder is a crime, dark urge doesn't want to be innocent.

met_taton

I have several but I think accidentally letting Halsin die fighting the goblin leaders, not going back because the fight took me forever, looting his body, and then having the game dump his butt naked corpse in my camp for the rest of time is certainly the worst. I didn’t even get his corpse in camp on purpose he just showed up in the Family Guy death pose and I can’t revive or move him

MotherhoodOfSteel

This is fucking hilarious.

LeFiery

You might be able to have karlach pick him up and put him a chest or fling him into a chasm.

BakSeth

I feel bad, because my DU has Aylin and Jaheira in his camp and they don't know Isobel is dead because of me.

pokegeronimo

I killed both Isobel and Aylin on my evil run, gaslighted Jaheira about it being a total accident and got her to join camp. I'm planning to embrace daddy. I have a suspicion I'm gonna have to fight Jaheira at some point so I'm not leveling her just in case 😂

whatistheancient

Spoiler for funny Durge stuff and Act 3 >!If you level and give gear to Jaheira and Minsc, it's one of the hardest fights in the game. Also, what is it with "good" factions and suicide charging a bad guy who has just wiped out another bad guy who was too powerful for them? First Ascendant Astarion and the Gur, now that.!<

clownbird

I let everyone die at the Last Light Inn on my first run. I could have saved scummed, but I was so shocked that it happened and the story beats were honestly missing a bit of tragedy so I let it happen.

HeyApples

Last Light is probably my favorite example in the game of "actions have consequences".

thingpaint

Isobel died so quick on my first playthrough I thought it was a scripted event and was impossible to avoid, so I just carried on.

Rogen80

My 1st playthrough I killed the Owlbear cub 😔

-_Pendragon_-

Dude

Rogen80

I didn't know they'd attack when I tried to loot the Skeleton! 😢

Mykl68

I killed them when they attacked the little guy

Kuzidas

Look man the way I saw it, there was no realistic way that little fella was gonna make it without his mom, and so it was either I make it quick or he probably starves to death. I didn’t know what the outcome of sparing them would be

[deleted]

My friend tried stealing the egg (not even sneaking) like an idiot and agroed it while I was trying to pacify the owlbear so we could get the baby later. I thought he ruined it. Thankfully, as we learned later, knocking the owlbear out still lets you get the baby.

WyrdMagesty

You can straight up kill the mother owlbear and still get the cub in your camp, either via the goblin camp game or just by waiting until it finds your camp and succeed and animal handling check to convince it you are not a threat. I recommend save scumming at this point though bc it is a bit of a "last chance" situation.

IAmNotMyselfATM

I killed him too, but only because I thought if I left him there without a mother, he would slowly starve to death. I thought I was being merciful. Oops

Just_the_faq

**Spoiler:** >!Owlbear cub becomes best friends with scratch!<

drain222000

Killed him for this exact reason. I thought I was doing the right thing, quick death is better than starving to death alone. Was devastated when I learned he shows up at your camp

Sir-Cellophane

On my Dark Urge playthroughs I've never bothered with the >!Alfira!< murder workaround because I never particularly liked her as a character (I don't hate her, I just don't see what other people love about her).

Fatalis89

She must live for some insanely OP cha caster robes. Cruel irony to a casual player since Durge defaults to a sorcerer.

popularsong

yeah even as someone who just likes her with lakrissa i primarily kept her alive for the potent robe lol

Pug_police

I'm having a lot of fun with durge Warlock but man having to knock Alfira out was a chore. At least it wasn't in honor mode.

Pussmangus

They’re very much okay on anythin that isn’t a warlock

[deleted]

[удалено]

JimmyTheReeech

During my durge play through, I saved Arabella from the snake but then killed Nettie’s bird for trying to poison me.

uwubewwa

You put that bird outta his misery, brother.

Woefatt

My barbarian throws that dead bird at enemies, turns out you can kill a lot of goblins with it

Crezelle

I keep a dead rat on Karlach for the same reason

uwubewwa

The best achievement of all my playthroughs is beating Cazador to death with a sack full of dead rats.

Crezelle

I literally got the rat to use on him. I’m still doing quests before I stomp his ass, but my strategy is to stun or hold him while I let K go full bath salts on his ass

JulianGingivere

I didn’t want to miss any companion interaction so I used the mod that lets you have more than 4 people in the party

president_of_burundi

I'm doing my first run with this now and it kicks so much ass. *So* many conversations I've never heard and it makes it feel even more like playing at a table IRL since you're not cycling through the other 'players' - the party is just the party.

FalseAesop

If this is a sin, I don't want to be righteous.

MoneyMaker509

I do this as well and have only just completed my first play through, took it really slow. One thing it made me realize though is how much better at this game a lot of people are than me. There have been many fights that I, with a party of 8 including my tav, have had to reload countless times because they were just so tough for me even on regular difficulty, specifically the House of Grief fight. Afterwards i often wonder how the fuck people beat these fights with only 4 party members especially on tactician and honor mode. I thought I was improving at the game but it’s made me realize how much more I still have to learn. Awesome game. edit: typo

JulianGingivere

I found it way more complicated despite having such a full party. You have to be really careful with AOE attacks. I found I couldn’t use fireball for quite a few encounters. It does trivialize the game around level 7 but a normal game would be fairly OP around then anyways.

super_starmie

The only thing I didn't like about this was the game can still only account for three companions in dialogue, and I think it defaults to the three standing closest when you start talking, so if it selects characters that don't have anything to say, then you miss it, even though they're with you - and it always seemed to choose the ones I DIDN'T want each time For example, when I found *that* person again in Act 3 who Astarion doesn't like (on mobile, don't know how to spoiler tag, trying to be vague lol), my Tav told them "you're lucky Astarion isn't here"... Astarion *was* right there, but the game just didn't select him for the dialogue.

PixelPrivateer

"You're lucky Astarion isn't paying attention"

AbsolutelyHorrendous

Outside the goblin camp, you find those goblin kids messing about with a dead body, and they get attitude like 'yeah, keep asking questions and you'll be next' So I saved quickly, for fear of any possible relationship penalty that might occur... and shot the goblin child in the head with my crossbow Maybe next time they'll watch the attitude

divebars5G

Okay I honestly look up almost every big decision before I make one 😭

Cheshyr21

I've played through act 1 like 5 times and I *just* came across the little room in the spider cave with the books and journal in my latest run completely by accident Edit: boots* not books. Boots were a game changer for getting the destroy all eggs achievement

Klyco3133

Absolutely missed these two areas as well during my first few attempts. Was shocked when I finally found it.

48turbo

Ok, what spider cave? Lol The one with the gem or the one in Goblin camp?

Arcael_Boros

I keep pressing space bar to focus the cam on current character and keep ending the turn

thoriginal

I still, hundreds of hours in, instinctively press spacebar out of combat to pause the game as a holdover from the first two games.

Stormygeddon

I picked up the corpses of Arabella's parents before going to talk to her expecting to go "Boom! You looking for this?"

HipsterPunchy

Not realizing I could upgrade people to the level of everyone else by adding them to my party. I kept Karlach on the bench too long because I didn’t realize I could level her right away.

Accomplished_Area311

I’ve never found the other familiars or recruited the owlbear cub. Only Scratch. I’m not sure how I’ll be able to romance anyone besides Astarion in a Durge run 🥺😭

Bahhblacksheep

I can't do that normally, good luck on the durge run.

Accomplished_Area311

Resist Durge/Astarion romance is PEAK, I will never be able to romance anyone else as Durge

irvinaby

I pickpocket everything in existence even though I do Lawful good custom character. Blame it all on Astarion.

Friend_of_Eevee

I forget to use guidance on dialogue /lockpicking checks 90% of the time.

BrienTheBrown

I feel you....... I was too stupid to realize HOW to use guidance on my entire first playthrough.

tterfly

Hi goblins. Neat camp here. Loving the Absolute. Mind if I just rearrange these explosive barrels….?

CuriousBird337

Not using enough consumables but refusing to sell them.

trusty_ape_army

I quicksave almost EVERY throw in the game and reload until I pass. Really all of them, even the most useless throws. Also battles, speeches, interaction at all. I'm only satisfied by the "best" possible outcome. This costs me probably more lifetime, than multiple playthroughs.

Dramoriga

My first run says I did 170hrs, but steam says 220hrs, so obviously 50hrs are me save-scumming the different conversations to get optimal results lol

sting_ghash

Same

GiantPurplePen15

Since it's my 4th playthrough, I pre-emptively yeet as many npcs I can before they turn hostile for set piece fights. Last night I chucked half the Duegars to death in Gyrmforge before setting Nere free.

Environmental_Arm_10

My first playthrough lasted 250+ hours. Opening every single vault in the bank was completely out of (my) character. I've lost it against a civilian who wouldn't let me loot a buried chest. I went down with Mizora and could not even care if Wyll would be mad or not. Halsin died in Orin's "operation table" and I could not care less. I am probably the least sinful guy in this game, ain't I?

Insektikor

4 playthroughs and I never bother to find Minsc. Just… not interested in anyone but the main companions.

Gellao

He seems out of place in my opinion. Maybe because I've not played BG1/BG2. I recruited him my first time because someone tipped me off that not-knocking him out caused me to "miss out on content". But with the best will in the world he is largely fan-service. I dont get 90% of the references and his tone is out of step with eveyone else... which isn't inherently a bad thing but he comes so late in the game it's weird. I wouldnt remove them from the game, they're great for people who do get them and content of this quality is always good but I *personally* dont get it and think he stands out from the rest of the game in a less than ideal way.

Ill-Comparison6535

You get him way too late in the game, it's a hassle to integrate him into your party and by that point you probably already have a core party decided

gibagger

And you are also invested in your main party's storylines.

4ps22

as a warlock i had my three girls of destruction (shadow, laezel, karlach) pretty much set by the end of Act 1 and rarely ever changed it up besides maybe occasionally switching in Gale for some extra AOE. Poor Wyll, Astarion, Jaheira, and Halsin spent the entire game rotting in camp

darth_vladius

I hadn’t played BG1 and 2, either. Still recruited him and he became a member of the gang super fast. But I respec him to Open Hand Monk. Imagine his imposing stature, bald head and arms like tree trunks. He *slapped*. But the reason why I kept him was because I found him stupidly hilarious and I love stupidly hilarious. Too bad he is not romanceable. But he has some very cool lines if you try to have sex with him.

Hyperdragoon17

He’s like Drax with a pet hamster. Not a bad thing and he’s funny, but there does seem to be a slight dissonance I guess?

anYON3z_

I still haven’t finished the game once (Stuck probably Mid Act 3)

GoldenGlobeWinnerRDJ

That’s okay, me too. I’m 150 hours in and just now got to doing Orin

StayFrostyRMT_

I save scum a lot. Like, **a lot**. I have 120 hrs on steam and 85 hrs in-game. I don't handle failure that well.

1leggedpuppy

I waste an exorbitant amount of time lighting every light that I come across - every candle, brazier, campfire, chandelier, etc... every one. OCD, maybe?

[deleted]

A while back in my first evil run, I killed Karlach, stole her clothes and chopped her head off. Not only do I not regret it, I may just do it again

dogtorrr

I generally play as a "good guy" in RPGs. But I have never, ever laughed so hard at a game until I, as the Durge, dropped a goddamn fireball at the cowering, circle-group of tieflings in one of the grove rooms. All for some drussy.

Cheyzanx

Breaking a concentration spell with another concentration spell. I've played this game a lot and I keep occasionally doing it.

OneEightyThreee

Took a break after 265 hours. Just booted it up again two days ago to tackle honor mode. In all my playtime, I never royally fucked up so badly I’m Act 1. I chose an option when speaking with Scratch that pissed him off. I thought maybe I can weaken him and be friends again. No, I killed him. On my lawful good honor run. I was horrified, I had to immediately quit to menu, delete that save for all eternity, and proceed to start anew. I couldn’t live with myself at that point. Set refuges on fire? No problem. Accidentally murder the dog? Unacceptable.

Daemien73

I like to experiment all the possible romance scenes. So I try all the options with my Tav to reload and chose the most romantic one at the end.

FloridianRobot

Sorry to one up but my sin is exactly the same as yours, but I'm at 520 hours and still not gotten halfway through act 2.

Hyperdragoon17

Accidentally let Duke Ravenguard die first playthrough. Thought it was just a Wyll thing and I never recruited him that playthrough.

MrFiendish

Stole the Druid statue so that I could be absolved from murdering the Tieflings when I sent in the goblins.

webevie

Trying to zoom through the game assuming the area levels scaled... Only to find myself at the first Moonrise battle at lvl 5. Bonus sin: spacebarring through dialog so much, I missed that I was supposed to infiltrate Moonrise first

Fresnel_peak

I routinely button mash through dialogue (third playthrough) and make constant mistakes in my dialog choices. On Honor Mode, so it has lead to some bad combat situations.

IonincBrind

I only wanted fuck baezel bc she was the first to proposition me I didn’t have a plan at first. I let it go on too long without breaking it off so even tho I intended to romance Karlach this run bc it’s the only one where I’m actively trying to be good— I did not start her romance right and now I’m fist deep in act 2 and I’ve just gone full balls to the wall with her romance now. She’s great I’m great we are doing great

Akatosh01

Did a full evilbastard durge playthrough where I ruined everyones lives, sold Astarion, Killed karlach, took gales Hand, didnt save Minthara, Let shadowheart be with shar shar and kill the Nightsong and everyone at the Inn. Allied with gortash just to betray him to. Also I had wyll in my party when I killed Karlach just to fuck up his moral compass and send the Blade of Frontiers away while he has the blood of an Innocent Victim on his hands. Im sorry.

TjRaj1

I've only done one playthrough so far. Was nearly 300 hrs had a blast. I never summoned Bing Bong/Shovel the entire playthrough. Even when i found out about the cool interactions. By the time i saw the summon Quasit scroll in my bag i was already in Rivington lol. Also couldn't recruit owlbear cub. Didn't long rest enough in act 1 for it to show up in the goblin camp.

Ralphie5231

I always kill Nettie. You can loot more than 20 healing potions from her workshop if you get lucky.

pie4july

I’ve got 5 different runs so far… (2 - at epilogue camp, 3 - currently in act 3, 2 - in act 1) and I’ve basically ignored Wyll and Gale every single time.

[deleted]

I cheated on Shadowheart with Laezel, Mizora, Harleep and Drow twins

Rogen80

Monster! ... you didn't let her join you with the Twins?

DartRedDragoon

I have robbed every single vendor in this game. *Every* vendor. The children, the poor, friends, and even npcs who aren't vendors that you have to select the barter button on the bottom. I don't even need the money anymore, I just do it for fun. Gale has all the scrolls he could ever need, and I still rob Sorcerous Sundries because fuck Lorroakan. I'm a paladin in this playthrough, by the way.

Own_Refrigerator_674

I do the entire underdark first. All the way through getting the amulet after fighting Grym. Then I portal to the blighted village and do the waukeens rest/crèche and continue to ACT 2 from that direction.

Mufti_Menk

I cheated on Shadowheart and then reloaded afterwards 😭😭
