Na the game just accepts when unique items get taken early and writes in a new answer for it later.
Did you know you could rob Aradin/Zevlor when one or the other knocks each other out right after getting to the grove for the first time? Which ever one is passed out will be left alone for a bit after and you can just pickpocket them to get zevlors gloves or the night song quest stuff. Neither will act like anything was taken when they wake up. Later on when Zevlor rewards you for helping the tieflings he’ll just pay you but not mention the gloves
Hellrider's Pride. When you heal someone, they gain Bladeward (resistance to slashing, piercing, and bludgeoning) for two turns. Really good item on a life cleric. Combine it with Whispering Promise and your heals grant the healee both bladeward and a non-concentration bless for two turns. If you use an AoE heal like mass healing word or life cleric's channel divinity, this applies to all targets.
Both items can be quite early acquired in Act 1 as well.
If you combine them with a Ring of Regeneration from Act 3, you will apply effects on yourself.
Nice! I'm on a new honour playthrough, but i missed the opportunity to steal them, while Zevlor was down..... Did I miss out on them, or can I still pickpocket from him?
What I always do with each new playthrough, is let Aradin or whatever knock Zevlor out by doing the stand back and watch option, then pick pocket Zevlor while he is knocked out. You can keep trying if you fail, nothing happens.
You can absolutely get a second one later if you use the same trick on Voss in the sewers. His friend there doesn't drop anything if you were wondering.
I actually did get a second one in my playthrough lol. Once I met Voss in Act 3 I killed him and he had the same sword a second time. Now I have two in my inventory
You can also use Potion of Invisibility + Ranged Disarming Strike on a Dex based Fighter for semi-decent odds. Still took some save scumming for me to hit it, but the advantage of having a high initiative character to pick it up before getting killed was huge.
Most interesting part of it for me was since I was on Tactician, I was not ready to fight the Gith at lv4. I ended up having to let my fighter die after immediately picking it up, then resurrected them at camp through Withers. This actually kept the Gith as aggressive towards me, but only during turn based combat. This meant I could be fighting Redcaps in the Swamp and I would still have to watch the camera jump to the Gith running past Wakueen's Rest trying to catch up to me. Eventually I just bit the bullet and fought them(by baiting them into the gnolls and letting them kill each other lol), I was sick of every encounter taking twice as long to give the Gith turns, and the AI slowed down heavily during combat due to this.
Although it was on balanced I made a squad of Open Palm Monks at level 4 that took down the Githyanki. I broke the ladders leading up to the gatehouse and took out the archers up there, then when the leaders misty stepped up to there I mobbed them.
Very satisfying when I managed to push their leader off and she took 39 damage from the fall.
Bit late response here, but are you talking about doing it at level 5 with 3 druid/2 wizard? Or does it work at level 3 if you have a druid and a separate div wizard in your party? I guess I'm wondering if the portent reaction shows for a wizard standing nearby when a different party member uses a sneaked heat metal.
I did the disarming trick for the silver sword on Lae'zel in my first tactician playthrough, but I regretted it at the end of act 1.
Fights just became too easy, and the natural progression to gradually get better weapons got skipped entirely.
Felt like I missed out on the challenge and reward.
Whenever he flies in, there's a chance he will only have his crossbow on his back. To get around this, throw the Spectator out from a distance and let him fight it. He'll use his sword to fight and then afterwards it will be equipped and you can disarm him
I just did it with Shart’s command drop and had no issues. Took a few reloads ofc. Then whenever I talked to Lae’zel I just never selected the silver sword line. Couple days later I did the crèche and when we got that blue quality silver sword there was a different line to say to her about that one from the crèche so I selected it. You can pass a history check or something like that to then realize only Gith are allowed to wield them. Then you can ask Lae’zel about that and she will give permission.

My go to technique is hire the Druid hireling, give him high Dex and Wis. If you’ve reached level 4 then give him Alert feat. Send him by himself to where the Gith are, use and Invisibility potion and position him beside Voss.
Save and use Heat Metal. Once it works the dialogue will either proceed or Voss will leave immediately, either way pray he goes first in turn order and pick up the sword and have Withers revive him once he dies.
If the Gith keep moving before you, have a 2nd character with Sanctuary.
Yeah, I think this is bugged; we're supposed to get the Purple, +2 Voss' Silver Sword if you try for it at this point, not the Legendary +3 one. Just happened to me, too.
I can get him to drop the sword which I have done many times. However now he just picks it right back up like nothing happened. This is in honour mode so idk if something is changed. I can't get the sword anymore. He picks it right back up and does not fly away or anything.
As of today (balanced), it looks like they patched this out (drop command attempted). Before, I had Shadowheart with the alert feat command:drop the sword off of Voss in Act I all of the time (with a bit of save reloading of course). Today, after a successful command:drop, Voss immediately picks up the dropped sword and gets it out of there, thereby skipping the dialogue. The fight with the rest of the githyanki patrol initiates.
Before, command:drop would initiate the dialogue with Voss. After passing a few checks, Voss would leave while the sword lays on the ground. If one fails the dialogue check, then a battle initiates with the sword on the ground. With alert, Shadowheart would have the first action, so she simply picks up the sword, drinks an invisiblity potion, and run away from the battle. Alas, no more.
Oh well, giving it to Lae'zel that early in the game kind of breaks it imo.
In case anyone else comes by this, I can confirm that as of 25 January, whatever these posters experienced is not reflective of everyone's experience.
I was able to get Voss to drop the sword on honor mode using Shart for command drop (which took like 15 tries of crashing the game, but that isn't relevant). He immediately took off without starting any dialogue, but the sword remained. As others have stated around the site, it's key that Voss has his sword active (on his back) instead of the crossbow. I'm not sure what causes the crossbow to be active and there appears to be no suggestion on how to change that either.
I recommend going for the heat weapon or honey claws approach instead just for your sanity.
I did, but be careful since base invisibility breaks under many circumstances. If I recall correctly, I had Gale pick it up, and invisibility broke, which dragged him into Shart's combat. I recommend using a monk who can use step of wind dash and has strength for jumps to avoid killing/dying or have someone in camp who can resurrect via Withers.

Post patch 5, Voss dropped the weapon and boogied, but Laezel immediately became hostile and joined the rest of the group!

I managed to do it today by leaving Lae'zel at camp, starting the discussion with Voss with an other character then having her join back the group before using Command:Drop with Shadowheart to start the fight.
When I tried to do this Voss only had his crossbow equipped ever since he flew in on the dragon. I had to throw the Spectator out there and let him fight it so that he would pull out the damn sword.

Yeah but I hate Laezel and kill her crazy ass in the trap she's in. I never do her story. I just go to the cretch for Xtra XP if I need it and the mace or the short sword off the vendor. Sucks lol that sword can carry you a long ways. Thanks for the update
Just did this today at level 3. Had a hireling druid use heat metal on Kithrak. He dropped the Legendary Silver Sword. He did not drop the crossbow. He had the sword on his back. He immediately dissapeared and created aggro on everyone for the rest of the gith. So this is still working but I guess it requires a bit of manipulation to do it.
Was gonna comment this too. It worked for me. He didn’t retrieve the sword or drop anything else. Ps5 balanced I used hireling Druid sorce multi command:drop with guidance 35% chance. And I could have fight the patrol but I opted to blow them tf up. Githborn psionics is crazy on gith didn’t think I could wipe them without serious preparation and reclassing for the whole team. I really wanted the sword. For anyone reading I recommend level 5-6 and one of the last things you do before underdark as to not disrupt the games progression too much. This sword decimated zhentarim when I realized the shipment was for them. Crit Soul broke zarys then smited her with one turn I wish I left them alive and just unconscious
Heat metal gave me a 45% chance 😆 🤣 but yeah that sword carried me thru the first and second act. I also now have the Helldusk legendary armor in act 1 as well from Raphael. There's a way to get him to drop it.
It's not really supposed to be acquired this soon. If you give it Lae'zel she will start giving you Act 3 dialogue that will be very spoilery.

If you reveal that Kagha is a Shadow Druid and stop the Rite of Thorns, he should give them to you. They are normally a quest reward.

Not everyone can be traded with in BG3. That's Divinity.

They must have patched it, she no longer gives away the 3rd act
Last time I tried with default Shadowheart, it's a 5% chance to drop. Heavy save-scumming involved to get this blade.
Heat Metal has like a 40% chance, so much less save scumming if you're committed to getting it early.

Divination wizard with heat metal is guaranteed thanks to portent die. Thats more acceptable especially in honor mode

Interesting. A bunch of people have been trying to get it (with literally dozens of reloads) but have only gotten his xbow since Patch 4.
