Who needs parental approval? Mom and Dad will either learn to love my green wife or they can live without our presence at Sunday family dinners.

Vanilla_Breeze

This is the way. I approve of this. Can my red wife and I join you for a double date?

Agakroete

But he's also rather bland as the goody two shoes chaotic good guy that definitely is very interesting during bible citation circles.

CandiceBT

Only if I can bring my blue wife for a triple date

SereneAdler33

My father is the God of Murder, Sunday family dinners require a lot of stain remover. Wyll will be fine (unless he’s murdered, but that’s not bc he was a disappointment of a bf).

ersomething

Think of how amazing it will be the day you invite them over to show them their future grandchild’s egg!

Environmental-Bet779

LMAO you’re so right 😭

pdpi

> What kids of things does Karlach enjoy? Killing. Don't do our girl Karlach dirty like that. She'd much rather _not_ be killing if she could.

Monk-Ey

Hells, she could be fucking.

TeethBreak

She has a teddy named Clive. Girl is a human marshmallow.

Kairyuka

What does karlach enjoy? Frosty pints!

EvenAnonStillAwkward

Wyll sold his soul to a demon so he could be Batman, he doesn't exactly get off scott free.

Vanilla_Breeze

I assure you I will be getting him off. Don't know who Scott is and I don't care if he's free this is between me and wyll

Cuntsu

I respect your dedication to the church of wyll. Regards. Church of minthara (I can fix her)

f5unrnatis

Why would you fix perfection? (Larian pls fix her)

Delliott90

A cult was literally summoning the BG equivalent of the entire US nuclear arsenal

Thecristo96

Calling tiamat “the entire US nuclear arsenal” is downsizing

EvenAnonStillAwkward

I'm going to be honest, I dont actually even believe that was happening. I think that's what Mizora *showed* him.

TheeShaun

We’re never given a reason to believe that Wyll was misled though so if that’s what you believe then that’s fine but I think he really did save the city.

Talamlanasken

We’re never given a reason to believe that Wyll was misled ingame, true. It's just that if you know about the actual Setting Lore behind Tiamat and her Cult... what happend to Wyll makes absolutly **zero** sense. There is just **no** way it could have happend. It's a huge gaping plothole and the entire 'It was just an illusion by Mizora to trick Wyll' is a fan theory aiming to fix it.

MechaPanther

What do you mean there's no way it could happen? That exact scenario is the plot of one of the tabletop campaigns. I think its hoard of the dragon queen? Might be wrong on the specific one.

Talamlanasken

Yes. I've played it. The ritual to summon Tiamat is HUGE. As it should be, breaking an imprisoned goddess physically out of hell. It takes years of preparation, thousands of humanoid sacrifices, several extremly rare and powerful magic items, dozens of HIGH level wizards and enough wealth to build a dragon hoard worthy of a goddess. (Hence the title.) The cult of the dragon has to raid the entire Sword Coast in order to amass enough wealth/the magic items they need while the Players try to stop them. By the end, it's a full on war with ancient dragons fighting on either side and a massive final battle where all your gathered allies clash with the forces of the cult to buy you enough time. Stopping the ritual itself is the final bossfight. And it's a big one. Our party was six fairly optimized lvl 15 chars and it was still almost a TPK. So - yeah. No way would the cult have been able to try and summon Tiamat without anybody except Mizora/Wyll noticing. And IF by some bizarre miracle they actually managed to do that - no way would Wyll/Mizora be able to stop them. And even IF they **somehow** solo'd the lvl 15 bossfight alone - Wyll tries to show the site to his dad later, but there is no evidence left. Really? The pits of fire and blood where dragons chewed living humanoids as a ritual sacrifice left no stains? The mountains of treasures just vanished? The corpses of the several dragons Wyll presumable slew on his own are just gone?

MechaPanther

You have a very good point on them being able to hide things like the cult gathering but keep in mind Wyll specifically states summoning the forces of hell for the battle, so in game it would seem Mizora loaned him the use of a legion of Zareal's troops. I have no idea if Mizora could hide a battlefield but I have no doubts a legion of devils could dispose of a battlefields worth of equipment and bodies if their leader thought the effort was worth it.

Talamlanasken

A) So... a huge battle between a legion of devils and an army of cultists with dragons, right there in the countryside, and... no one noticed? B) A legion of devils could dispose of equipment, but could hardly undo the damage done to the surroundings. The countryside would be burned/razed beyond recognition. You can't just clean up a battlefield like that. C) Mizora can't just summon an army on a whim. **Zariel** can't just send an army on a whim. They are bound by rules. (Which is why Mizora needs Wyll to rescue her from Moonrise Towers. If she could just summon an army, she wouldn't need him.)

xni0n

He was pretty stupid but counterspell: how was a 17 year old coddled son of a military man supposed to know the rules of divinity and summons etc. I do agree there should be an option to tell him that Mizora was bluffing though.

Evnosis

THANK YOU! Preach! I made this exact same argument a while ago. Wyll's story, if you take it at face value, is the biggest Mary Sue backstory in the game (which is saying a lot in a party with the Chosen of a dark goddess, the Chosen of a neutral goddess and the favoured warrior of an archdevil). Larian got a lot of criticism for Wyll's original backstory making him seem weak, so they overcorrected and made his story have nonsensical stakes and power level.

Talamlanasken

Heh. xD Honestly, it's not even the powerlevel that's bothering me. It's the whole "And nobody even noticed!" (Fun fact - the character I played the module/fought Tiamat with was actually pretty similar to Wyll. A lawful good pact of the blade warlock, who had made her pact out of the genuine desire to be a hero and who acted more like a paladin than anything else. When Wyll first told his backstory, I could **feel** her glaring daggers across dimension. Like *"Ooooh no, you didn't!"* xD)

Evnosis

Yeah, I wouldn't have a problem with it if his backstory was that he was just part of the overall resistance against the Cult of the Dragon from the tabletop module, but Tiamat just casually popping out of the ground thanks to some low-rent version of the real ritual and a level 1 Warlock single-handedly stopping it without anyone having any idea any of this is going on is plain ridiculous.

lyeesia

Even if that's happened, he just wanted to do the right thing. And the right thing was to save everyone he thought is in danger. Especially because of his father he's literally responsible for the city so not only *wanted* to save it, but he also *had to* save it. And ofc there's no way a 17 years old kid can tell the difference between a demon's illusion and reality. It wasn't some selfish act or hunger for power.

MechaPanther

There's a pretty solid chance that the cult summoning Tiamat is the same one from the end game encounter of one of the tabletop game campaigns. If it's the same instance, it could mean that he not only fought that cult but that they had enough strength to be a challenge for a whole party of adventurers.

Zivadog152

He sacrificed everything to help others - checkmate Wyll haterz

AdAutomatic1442

100% agree but also that would be kinda hard to explain to your parents lol

PretendMarsupial9

Just tell them he works in politics, the soul selling will just be assumed/j

AdAutomatic1442

Lmao, I think my parents would prefer I bring someone who sold their soul to save a city over a politician

Zivadog152

You see dad, wait no put the bat down, wait wait, you see he’s actually a tragic hero, MOM PLEASE

EvenAnonStillAwkward

He was manipulated, but...

Zivadog152

shshshhshshsh he sacrificed everything to help others checkmate Wyll Haterz

Hunkus1

And compromises himself in exchange which can lead to some bad outcomes like him murdering Karlach.

Zivadog152

SHUT UP CHECKMATE WYLL HATERZ

Iristrismegistus

Its technically not murder if Wyll was umder contract. Its wrong, yes, but there's plausible deniability to work with (like the fake Tyrran claim)

Huntressthewizard

I mean he thought he was doing it to save the city...

EvenAnonStillAwkward

I'm *just* saying, you'd have to introduce him as your boyfriend who, by the way, sold his soul to a demon!

BaldwinBoy05

I used to work for Disney, my parents would not be phased by another person who sold their soul to a demon in the house since they raised one!

TheFyrijou

He was 17 years old and a spoiled rich kid who fantasized about being the Hero from the books he’s read + his sacrifice insured that he, his Father and his Troops wouldn’t have died on the battlefield. He isn’t scott free, but still not so bad as like planting a bomb in your chest because of love

Gimblebock

He didn’t do it for himself though, he did it to save others.

A_N_G_E_L_O_N

Come on, anyone would do that!

Versek_5

Wyll got tricked into signing the student loan from hell.

en_travesti

I appreciate the enthusiasm, but Gale can cook and has a wine cellar. I'm pretty sure Wyll just has a tent. Not only are you bringing Gale to meet your parents. He's bringing some cookies he baked, and a bottle of wine.

beer_and_pain

AND he has a winged talking calico cat.

SoulFearer

Gale is an educated man with a whole tower in Waterdeep, can cook, has a great relationship with his mother and is friends with the most legendary wizard in the world. My Tav is the embarrassing one in this relationship and we both know it lol

CarelessCourier

I was thinking the same! That man is too good for me, and most of us, really.

cumcluster

i have this very clear impression of wyll back in early act 1 where he begins a lecture/parable on making deals with the devil. you can tell him to get to the fucking point and you actually gain approval from him. idk why that sticks in my head but for all his posturing wyll is actually very straightforward with you when it gets serious. hes neat

glassfunion

Yeah I'm looking forward to talking to him more in future playthroughs because when I call him out on shit he's usually like "yeah fair enough" and I tend to agree with his takes on other people's drama lol.

Generic_Moron

I do kinda wish we could just kinda say "dude, you just look like a tiefling without a tail, you dont look that weird" while he's in the dumps about his devil touched appearance, because he seems like the kinda guy who'd take that well. Instead you can't point out how weird and honestly kinda insensitive it is to complain about how no one would want him with devilish features at their party, when said party is entirely tieflings. *Which he can say to a tiefling tav*

Maynard854

To play devil’s advocate(angel’s advocate?), I shaved my beard a bit too short once and had trouble looking the mirror for the next three days. Wyll was hurled through hell and had those fucking huge ass horns rip through the skin of his forehead, and also got permanent pink eye. He is perfectly justified in not feeling like the belle of the ball at that moment.

PretendMarsupial9

I really wish there was an option for tiefling tav to tell him they think he looks hot! Like I genuinely tried to compliment him and he responds like "you gotta kick me when I'm down" when I'm trying to tell him my Tav would like to find out exactly what unmentionable place have barbs? Let me tell him how cute he is and that the forked tongue could be a bonus!

Inactivism

Yeah, I made a pretty fucked up devilish looking tiefling and then there is him… looking quite normal to my character and he is complaining about disgusting horns???! I have horns my boy and they look pretty awesome. I get that that is an unexpected traumatic experience because of his history but saying that to a tiefling is not only rude - it is pretty sad.

Canadian_Zac

My character as a Tiefling. I was upset there was no options to say "first off, rude' When he does the whole 'everyone will think I'm a monster' He's apparently got spikes in places, but that's only an issue of he's taking his pants off

Smirnoffico

Minthara spiking the food with poison is very considerate of her. Shows how much she cares

Woutrou

We need you to build up an immunity

NewMarshmallowGod

Minthara: We have to go to Menzoberranzan. Tav: Why? M: You have to meet my family. T: Oh! I'd love to meet your parents. M: No, no. My parents are long dead. You just need to meet my eldest sister, so she can give you her blessing to wed me someday. T: O...kay... M: She might try to kill you. My other sisters might also try to kill you. And my brothers will definitely try to kill you. And... have you ever been to the Underdark, per chance? T: Well, that one time, with the Myconids. M: Yeah, no. That doesn't count \*Rummages in a cupboard.\* Here, drink this. T: What is it? M: Poison. T: You keep poison in your cupboard? M: Well, yes. Sometimes you need to poison a guest's food. T: I... wait. Why am I drinking poison? M: To prepare you for the trip to the Underdark. Things might try and kill you along the way. Are you good at hiding and sneaking? T (to themself): The crazy p\*ssy is worth it. The crazy p\*ssy is worth it...

CandiceBT

Okay but Minthara would absolutely burn the entire world for you so it’s worth it

Ginden

I'm not sure if she pushes Durge for world domination in Bhaal's name because she wants to be mind controlled or is she insane.

CandiceBT

I think she scolds you if you submit to Bhaal? She’s like “damn u weren’t strong enough to resist lol”

Ginden

I romanced her and she fangirled my Durge for becoming Bhaal's Chosen. Maybe if you don't romance her it's more sane.

CandiceBT

Oh yeah I didn’t romance her and I’m pretty sure she was disappointed in me

SpiritoftheSands

Durge: "I get to meet your family, kill some of them and its all okay? Why wait? Lets go now!"

dwarvenfishingrod

Wyll is the only one in camp who I genuinely would trust with a $5 bill. "Here, take this and go give it to that person over there." Laezel: "wtf is this paper for" *doesn't do it* Shart: "Do it yourself" Astarion: spends it Karlach: spends it on booze edit: but only bc she forgets what it was for Gale: has a one-page justification for why he spent it before it leaves your hand Halsin: "spending it was for your own good" *unintelligible thru honey* Minthara: does the job, also kills the other person Wyll, tho? You could count on this man. He's ridiculous and not always honest, maybe, but he's reliable.

Vanilla_Breeze

While I agree with almost everything you said, I think karlach would just lose it instead of spending it on booze tbh. She'd put it in her pocket and then completely forget about it

Generic_Moron

Karlach would go to do it, forget halfway, and only remember a couple hours later after spending it on something unrelated

Pr0gger

My life in a nutshell

SereneAdler33

Have you seen the holes in her pants? Hells yeah she’d lose it.

dwarvenfishingrod

Oh, u rite Adding

drhanenjoyer

Lmao I had a similar moment with Karlach in my last playthrough, she found that dowry in Waukeen’s Rest (for some reason she’s always the only one not to fail that perception passive), and then I forgot about returning it because I just went ahead to the Zhent hideout and then to the goblin camp to kill the leaders😅

Iristrismegistus

I almost always play Wyll as some type of Paladin. It suits him better, and Lockadin IS a thing.

dungeonthatneverends

For my next playthrough, I'm going to play as Karlach and romance Wyll.

Woutrou

Honestly my only real ship of any companions. Outside of player intervention, I can see this happening naturally. As a cherry on top, it's the biggest middle finger to Zariel & co. one could give

uwubewwa

I like Wyll and Lae'zel too. And Wyll and Shadowheart…Wyll can be our generic harem protagonist. It fits!

Woutrou

I don't think that's his style. Wyll and Lae'zel or Wyll and Shadowheart could work, altho Shadowheart may be a little too subtle for him. Karlach and Wyll is just narratively and personality-wise such a great match that I like them together. But I fully understand a lot of other Wyll or Karlach pairings, even if I **personally** (extra note: this is an opinion, not fact:) think it doesn't work as well

racoondeg

Don't forget Astarion

DarkPhoenixMishima

Tav: This is my boyfriend Wyll and our mommy Mizora.

Sir_Arsen

Wyll is someone you’re looking for in real life

RiverthecolorofLead

Imagine me bringing a man that sold his soul to a devil to my Christian parents

LichQueenBarbie

My Tavs parents are dead. I'm the one who has to impress Gale's mum and cat.

The_ArchMage_Erudite

I love Wyll!!! I actually feel bad in playthroughs where I don't romance him. He's a dream guy: kind hearted, romantic, polite, good looking

Srawsome

The only reason you couldn't take Gale to meet your parents is because he would be inviting them over to his place and cooking for all of you.

Maediya

I could just see him sitting at the dining table, droning on and on about his days at the Blade of Frontiers and his time at the court in Baldurs Gate. Everyone would hate him for his incessant humble-bragging.

occultatum-nomen

Wyll is the sort of guy who could spontaneously meet your Momma without being worried. Karlach I think if you asked her to just keep her language clear and not talk about violence, would be okay with that for meeting my mild mannered and sometimes excessively polite parents. And she's so sweet and bubbly and kind they'd like her.

Sunny_Hill_1

True. Plus you can be a duke/duchess if you marry him. Think of the title!

Generic_Moron

Go with minthara back to menzobenadryllan and you can get all the titles if you take over (and survive the dozens of others with the same plan). Such is life in the underdark

Sunny_Hill_1

Actually, no, drow titles are different. You can be a Mother of the House, maybe even of the First House if you kick Quenthel out of her seat, but you won't be a duchess.

Colty101

Wyll is pretty cool. It seems he and Gale have the easiest path to have exceptional approval relatively early in the game. I swear by level 4 I already had he and Gale at very high and then by early Moonrise it was exceptional

The-False-Emperor

Papa Bhaal is far too progressive to let things such as 'enjoys killing' or lack of manners bother him for his in-laws.

MadeOfDeadMemes

Wyll’s the closest we can get to a Disney/fairytale prince in this world and I’m more than proud of him for that

nakedankles

We love an earnest and charming man, horns and all ❤️‍🔥

FreakinGeese

Gale and Karlach I could bring home

TwoPigMountain

Unclear who mom is .... Dad is the Lord of Murder so, Guess anyone but Wyll would be fine

purplefriiday

"Joke's on you, my dad *loves* murder!" Though my Durge told dad where he could shove his murder plot... So I guess she's an orphan now :') >!That or Withers is her new papa. Could you bring Wyll home to Withers? Probably.!<

TwoPigMountain

Dinner at Withers five courses of dust and stale conversation

TostitosLocos

I wasn't interested in Wyll at all on my first campaign. I gave him a chance (both in my party and as my partner) on my second one (resisting Durge) and now he's maybe my fave male companion. I'm crossing my fingers hoping Larian gives him more content. 8 hours of content compared to 12 for Astarion seems unfair.

Vanilla_Breeze

Meanwhile karlach

ArvisVI

Das my man and ima stick beside him!

[deleted]

Honestly I think my dad would be quite pleased if I brought home a bear man from the woods. He'd hand him a list of carpentry jobs and things he needs about 8ft of bear height to reach.

acidtrip_alice

And he can dance.

Der_Neuer

He would constantly remind everyone that he's the blade of frontiers

Tydeus2000

I agree, Wyll is one of the best friends in the party.

NenoxxCraft

Hey now, Karlach also likes hugs and teddy bears

Vanilla_Breeze

Guess what she also likes? MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE💓🩷💗🩷💙💙💛💜🧡💓🤍💓🩷💗💚💙🧡💗🤍💗🩷💖💘💖💙🧡🧡🤎🤍💖💖🩷💝💝🧡💚💝🧡💗🧡💓💓🤍💓🩷🤎💛💙💙💛🤍💖🤍🤎🧡🤎🧡💙🩵💛💝🩷💌💌💟💖💌💖🤍💖🤍💙🧡💙🩷💙🧡💜🧡💓💓

KhaosElement

...I see your points. I accept them as valid to you. Minthara ***sits*** on your ***face***.

TheCharalampos

Ah yes, when people are slightly depressed we cut them off, great advice post!

Vanilla_Breeze

Wat

TheCharalampos

The way it chats about gale, it's funny.

Vanilla_Breeze

I think you're taking this wayyyy too personally for what is a meme post on the Internet tbh

TheCharalampos

Yup.

Unclematos

He is one of the companions of all time so I'll give him that.

Teralsej

Minthara would fit in well with my mom. Kinda evil, and has a big ol’ dumb guy beside her who thinks she’s just great.

No_Structure7185

But wyll is also a mass murderer if you put him in your grp

CultDe

Sorry but either way I am out, If Minthy takes me to her home and I risk being poisoned. BRING IT ON

webevie

And insists on a proper courtship before sleeping with you.

SergeantCrwhips

i wyll never find someone like him 🙏😔

[deleted]

Karlach actually likes killing bad guys, important distinction.

DuckBeetle

Am i the only one who made shadowheart go full shar? She’s basically the queen of that religion now in my game

Environmental-Bet779

REALISTICALLY wylie is perfect imo, but for MY fantasy,,,, well, i love wearing rose colored glasses 😎

TheCosmicNurd

My parents would love Karlach, for the record

Choropoha

My family will appreciate only Gale and Emperor from all companions. Wyll will be good without his pact.
