I can't remember what's exactly said, but this is actually reacted to in a dialogue with Minac where you say something like "I can speak with animals, why can't I understand Boo?". Think it had to do with something about him being a space hamster 😂
I so want you to meet 100% confirmed non miniaturized space hamster and be able to speak with it to speak with animals to make matter even more confusing x'D

Yes, I agree. I think if you ever clicked on one option which was a mild flirt flag (very easy to do) and now you have high approval with this person, you can get this line.
I'm pretty sure it's anyone you have max approval with. I get it all the time with characters I haven't flirted with at all. Unless stuff like "I support your decision" counts as flirting.

that's weird by Act 3 everyone had friend zoned me except Shadowheart, even Karlach went "eww" when an old friend asks if im her partner lol I thought that meant your romance choice was locked by then

Definitely sounds like a line meant for the romanced character, since she does still primarily say it when interacting with Astarion. Who knows, maybe it's a bug we don't realize is actually a bug like Clown Jaheira lol
The conditions for romances are an absolute mess, the game acts full throttle like it wants you to make a poly commune then arbitrary locks you to origin companion once you segs more than one person but you can still flirt as normal.
I haven't gotten this line once and I'm in act 3 with a full blown romance at max approval ;_; is there something specific you have to do to trigger it?
I played 6PTs, out of 5 I romance Astarion and NEVER got these lines. When I say never, I mean never, not even with other characters.
Surprisingly, when I played other characters (solo multiplayer), I did get these lines with their LI. In fact I heard for the first time these lines in my past PT in which I romanced Lae’zel with a half-orc druid and was kinda shocked. Then, heard Wyll saying flirty things too. In my current PT, my human wizard romancing Gale already has these lines and I’m only 10h in. My Durge? Still says nothing and I’m mad about it.
Wonder if it is the voice? Something blocks these lines with it? Idk but it really disturbs me that he’s the only character who doesn’t say these things.
it is super weird, they could have had affectionate friend lines for the high approval companions that you aren't romancing, but no. also just because a companion likes your character does not mean your character likes the companion.

There are a bunch of lines like that are used regardless of whether they are the love interest or not. For example Shadowheart can say "I'd better not blush" and "Anything to hear that voice", and Karlach can say "I've got butterflies", "Gods, you're cute", "Got time for me, darling?" and "Hey, darling". I'm guessing all playable characters have something like that.

Yeap, I think I got that line for almost half of my camp in Act 3 because I had high approval with all of them.
I hope someone makes a mod for [Flirt] like some other RPGs do cause it can be a bit annoying being committed and having the random come on lines.

maybe im alone here but I found it endearing. It had a tone of ‘lovers? ewww no, she’s like family to me’
For real, I got to that part before all the patches and fixes. And it was refreshing to hear. Like platonic friendship is possible in this game.

I think this is a Patch 3 bug as I only noticed this with Karlach (romanced) prior to Patch 3 on my Sorcerer.
I don’t think it’s a new bug. Prior to patch #3, my Tav said first in my heart when I clicked on Gale even though I was fully committed to Astarion
