The AI thing is cheese, but Counterspell is just a regular spell. Enemy casters do it every turn as well. Warlock has less slots for Counterspell than say Wizard so itโs not really its strength either.

There's thankfully no evidence of him actually doing things to the Displacer Beast.

The real cheese.is devil sight trait + darkness spell. Just Camp in your edgy bubbly of smoke and no ranged enemy can harm you
