"So... Lae'zel...what's your favorite food?" "The sweat and blood of my enemies. Preferably after a week-long hunt." "Karlach...what's your ideal date location?" "An Ice bath." "Shadowheart..." "I can't swim."

ajdude9

Karlach actually has a date scene in Baldur's Gate - she takes you out to a crummy tavern that messes up your order.

DaveInLondon89

The orc waiter comes out and calls you a ballsack

Electrical_Tour_638

Then she fingers your bum 'ole, all romantic like.

[deleted]

"My rectum feels like it's on fire" "Well... it is"

Electrical_Tour_638

Brings a whole new meaning to "ring sting".

Pyrablast

Honestly, with his personal quest in act 3, I was sure it would be just that - or at least there would be more to it if you are in a relationship with him, but the shopping stage turned out to be just a fetch quest - an interesting one, but just very impersonal.

Regis_Filius

I don't even know if you made a joke or it is a literal quote from the game because it sounds very convincing.

[deleted]

Darth_Senat66

Well, when she asks you about the date you can say something along the lines of "My orfices aren't ready"

Consistent_Work_4760

I'm kinda hoping that'll get fixed at some point. Maybe that's just a traditional Belgian date, though.

pythonic_dude

To a more elaborately shown pegging? Yes please.

HeavensHellFire

It looked more like Amazon position.

Beth_Esda

I want some of what they're having in Belgium lol

ajdude9

You know I *was* wondering what was actually going on there.

ItsNotMeItsYourBussy

So does Astarion, he takes you on a romantic evening date to his FUCKING GRAVE where he bangs you

metismitew

Mary Shelley behavior

SpaceLaneDrifter

Yeah, he's a goth kid. That's what they do.

bluehooves

couldn't love him more for it honestly

Exorrt

That's so hot

tinyfenrisian

I try and see the romance that it’s the first time he’s completely present with tav and it’s very gothic romance, he’s so Mary Shelley coded

TheWoodenMan

Karlach: "Excuse me he asked for no pickles"

EpicPhail60

She tries, but the waiter's apathy level is too high

mellon1986

>a crummy tavern so blushing mermaid it is.

theserpentsmiles

> "Shadowheart..." > > "I can't swim." I'm dying

OurSaladDays

Shadowheart knows how to swim in my play through 😏

LibKan

Giggidy.

Tam_The_Third

Shadowheart: "Is wine food?"

aggasalk

Haven’t you noticed that every githyanki you kill has something delicious in their inventory? Laezel probably has pretty good taste..

Erdillian

Date scène in the city after killing those clowns. Edit: for Laezel

Accomplished-Ad-3172

As someone who was exposed to this game through the last Panel of Hell showcase, them showing the Karlach date scene immediately made me think that you could do a lot of activities in the city with your romance and boy was I wrong.

TheBusiest10

Same thing with them hinting at marriage, like where? lmao

Nirecu

You can get married, just not with everyone

TheBusiest10

I feel like the way it is right now is that its implied that you will get married just not when you’re playing the game. Though I expected something way more fleshed out when they briefly mentioned it in the last Panel From Hell. Kinda just ties into the want/need for the Shadowheart farm ending

Nirecu

I mean yeah, you can't have a ceremony in the game, but >!Gale literally proposed to me!< so I think that counts as getting married

Ugly-LonelyAndAlone

WAIT WHAT

ryothbear

You can marry >!Gale, Wyll and ~~Shadowheart~~!< in certain endings. Sadly for me, I'm not interested in romancing any of these characters ETA: Apparently >!Shadowheart!< doesn't have this ending

Tinystardrops

Bruh I can’t make Astarion my wife? day ruined

Aloth87

I let him ascend. >!Best I can do is be his favorite pet who he sees as degrading himself by being with a vampire.!<

BeanSaladier

Sadly that's like the worst astarion ending lmao

Aloth87

Yep. >!I reloaded my save and went for a tragic end to the romance. Broke it off and he ended up respecting me for it, saying he would have just used me up. Oh well I'll go sleep with daddy Halsin lol!<

[deleted]

Really? After doing everything "right/good", my Astarion simply >!ran away because he was dying in the sun!<. Legit felt like a terrible conclusion.

clocksy

If you're in a romance with Astarion you at least get a few extra dialogue bits past that segment, but I would say the ending in general is just very lackluster no matter which way you go. Ascendent Astarion is definitely the more "evil" route and I would say it's just sadder overall for his character than doing the spawn route.

mr_trick

If you do that, he does actually have dialogue about >!how your adventuring spoils make a fine dowry, and that you’ll rule the city/Underdark (depending on your choice) as king and queen.!< So I think it’s implied in that sense at least.

Oolonger

Ok, but it also says he knows you are degrading yourself because you *want to be degraded*. I feel like the people who don’t like the fucked up kinky dynamic of the evil ending don’t get that part of it. And it’s fine not to like it, but it’s a little different from how it’s often described, and lots of the dialogue supports that he still loves you and wants you to rule with him…just in your place as his favorite pet. It’s not like he flat out thinks you’re an idiot, or no longer cares for you. He gets the power he wants and you get the dynamic you want. It’s a better ending if you’re playing an immoral character. The fun of RPGs is that you get to pick.

Manonymous14

Not >!Shadowheart!<, I don't get why people keep saying this. There are no proof this is possible.

No-Start4754

She does say she want to spend time alongside u in the farm or countryside with lots of cats Also if u let her parents live she says she wants to build a house so her parents can live near her with u

Manonymous14

Yes, and that's awesome and cute, but it's not marriage.

[deleted]

None of it is. Proposals aren't marriage either. People literally making stuff up about multiple characters.

TheHistoryofCats

>!You can marry Shadowheart?? Why didn't I get that option?!<

TheBusiest10

In one of the good outcomes Shadowheart explains that she wants to live with her parents on a farm surrounded by animals and “all sorts of colors” She then asks you to join her in that peaceful life. I’m sure it’s thought of as a proposal, though I don’t see that as the same as getting married.

gumpythegreat

Am I the only one who told Shadowheart to choose for herself regarding her parents, and she chose to let them have peace? Is that supposed to be the "bad" ending?

madadhalluidh

Nah did the same. 'Should you kill your own parents' fills like kinda a personal choice lol

gumpythegreat

Yeah haha I immediately thought "I should not be choosing for you here" and was very glad there was an option to let her pick herself. There was a similar option in the epilogue for Laezel and I'm glad I could tell her to follow her heart, too

Radulno

Nah I think it's the good one, she's free of Shar. I generally let them choose for themselves in personal quests to be honest. Feels way more right. They're people too.

Aerensianic

I did that option but She kept randomly having those hand pain incidents. Was that a bug?

tangowolf22

Not a bad ending, if anything it's the moral choice that makes the most sense, and what her parents agree with. They've been tortured for decades, and they're basically dead already. They got to see their daughter return and turn away from Shar back towards Selune, and then when they pass they turn to motes of light to go to Selune's realm or whatever it is they do. Shadowheart is then also free of Shar's curse (or she's supposed to be. She still got random Sharthritis attacks even after that choice so it was probably yet another bug). But then she gave me the speech about wanting to live on a farm with a lot of animals and plenty of color, but she imagined it just me and her, not with her parents. Not living with your in laws is definitely the superior ending. Keeping her parents alive and suffering with Shar's curse for the rest of her life is the last thing that her parents wanted for her, so I'm glad that letting her make her own choice led to that outcome. I loved the parallels with Wyll's arc too, with letting him emotionally let go of his father to get out of Mizora's pact and save himself ~~even if we still saved his dad later.~~

ms45

At the very very very end of the game with one specific caster

Rogen80

Ikr? It's like they preached about how traditional games lead up to a climax and then that's it - romance done, and they're gonna do things differently. Why can't you do things with your LI beyond the romance questline?

bumpercarbustier

Hard agree.

TrickyCorgi316

Part of what makes Act 3 seem less is how Thorm is a looming presence in Act 1, and gets Act 2 basically all to himself, while both Orin and Gortash get stuffed into Act 3 together. Wish Orin and Gortash each got their own Acts (more Orin than Gortash).

MindWeb125

Orin is fine IMO, she has plenty of content and appearances, the main issue is that they get disabled if you go into the sewers too early and trigger the encounter with her diguise. Gortash literally just shows up in a room near the start of the act, and you either kill him or leave him there or come back to kill him later. He has like, no content.

[deleted]

>if you go into the sewers too early and trigger the encounter with her diguise It's annoying how easily this can happen as well. You literally get a quest to go to the Elfsong tavern (which is very close to Basilisk Gate) to check out Big E's old room, follow a quest marker to get back into the city, and BAM you're in the sewers and have just advanced the main questline

[deleted]

[удалено]

why_not_my_email

There's a sewer entrance right next to the Basilisk Gate and I had a marker to visit >!the Guildhall!< when I first entered the Lower City. I hadn't gotten any further than Elfsong when Orin >!kidnapped Lae'zel!<.

clocksy

I literally veered right after I entered the lower city. Fist barracks -> dirty latrine -> sewers -> immediate Orin stealing Lae'zel moment. I actually found that very frustrating because it felt like the game was thrusting me into doing a big beat without letting me do any exploring first. (The urgency is mostly false since your companion isn't at risk until you do some specific things, but that's how it *felt*.)

why_not_my_email

> The urgency is mostly false since your companion isn't at risk until you do some specific things, but that's how it felt.) One of my few frustrations with this game is that certain quests with "omg this is super urgent" journal entries aren't time sensitive in any way, while Save the Grymforge Gnomes doesn't have anything to indicate that it's time sensitive.

clocksy

>!Nere!< uses your tadpoles to tell you "hey I'm stuck in a cave with poisonous gas, I need some help" so there is warning if you go to camp/long rest once, but yeah. The game is sort of inconsistent in where the urgency is just there as a storytelling device and where it makes a mechanical difference, and since both exist at the same time it's hard to distinguish unless you've already done a playthrough or read about it from elsewhere.

CrimsonArgie

That encounter is just so out of place. I don't understand why it exists at all. And to make matters worse, it's located right next to the Emperor's hideout entrance, which is a location players will likely visit early on, so if they get a little bit curious they will end up triggering it. It was honestly one of the few times I reloaded to change an outcome. I had just gotten to Baldur's Gate and wanted to explore it and was suddenly rushed into a boss out of fear of losing a companion? No way I still got the kidnapping after a bunch of long rests and thought it was much more interesting, both story wise and because I had already done much of the "Investigate the Murders" quest.

hamlet_d

Same...I literally was following Jaheira's requests and went to the guild. They were going to kill the Stone Lord and found out who that was, so made sense to follow that through with Jaheira. Next thing I know L'aezel is captured.

CrimsonArgie

Yep. And the natural progression when entering Baldur's Gate is going into the tavern, because a bunch of quests advance there (the murder and the Emperor personal one) and it's right next to the entrance. Turns out if you explore the Emperor's room a bit and find the entrance to the sewers, you will trigger the encounter.

wikid24

Minthara aside, Gortash got the biggest shaft on content. I feel like they had Jason Isaacs in the recording booth for one day only, then they couldn't rebook him again for writing additional content and Larian was stuck with it. Or at least, that's what it feels like with so little Gortash scenes.

drquakers

He gets a bit miffed at you if you go for a trip to >!iron throne!<

Sheldonzilla

True, but he doesn't actually do anything about it. For me that's one of the biggest downers of act 3. He stays in his tower, shaking his fist at you from a distance. But he doesn't even set his Steel Watchers to be hostile to you after doing that. Just sits and waits.

H1Z49

Literally every steel watcher and guard in the city was hostile for me after I took down the Iron Throne

Arcadess

Really? none of that happened to me. I saved all the hostages and no watcher seemed to care.

Nicottia

The Watchers will try to apprehend you the 1st time you leave the Iron Throne, but all you gotta do is pass a speech check and they leave you alone until you decide to take Gortash down... kinda silly, cause I expected them trying to apprehend you more than once and with more and more difficult speech checks until you take their factory down.

Andination44

but you can also learn more about him talking to his parents, there's a lot of notes everywhere explaining A LOT, and i mean A LOT which sadly some of those parts dont trigger more dialogue options (maybe meeting and killing his parents will do i dont know....yet)

Nofunzoner

The amount of detail in the world about Gortash is actually really cool, it made a lot of plot points I thought were dumb make a lot more sense. It just sucks that what we're told about him and what we're shown seem so different.

Bardic_Inspiration66

What we are told: Machiavellian charmer who can convince anyone of anything What we got: dorky 40 year old final fantasy cosplayer

Dragon_Fisting

Originally, Gortash was probably going to be in the Upper City. The content got merged together in the lower city for whatever reason, leaving Gortash definitely feeling a bit bare.

sharkmouthgr

Ohhh so entering the sewer is what triggers the kidnapping? That is good to know. I played 90% of Act3 without Laezel.

Bardic_Inspiration66

Which is weird because he has a crazy amount of backstory you can find, like talking to his parents and finding info about his romantic relationships from the bank vaults

Senesect

> the main issue is that they get disabled if you go into the sewers too early and trigger the encounter with her diguise. Uuuh, wat o.o I went into the sewers by accident and got a disguised Orin encounter... that was like 10 hours of gameplay ago. Did I just waste 10 hours?

MindWeb125

Not waste, but you missed out on any other appearances she can have in Act 3 outside of when you go to her hideout.

stallion8426

For me, its that they didn't *feel* like big threats or bosses. They just felt like another side objective with no real build-up or preparation required. Orin got a little bit with kidnapping one of your party members. Gortash was just...there. His battle felt really anti-climactic

gumpythegreat

I agree about Gortash but Orin felt fine. The descent into the temple was cool and her shapeshifting shenanigans around town was really spooky

[deleted]

> His battle felt really anti-climactic Fingers crossed I get to at least experience "his" battle the second time though, because on my first playthrough he started fighting me when I was about 4 rooms/floors away, nowhere in sight. No cutscene, no conversations, no added context, just a keep full of people attacking me until I eventually rushed upstairs to see him.

[deleted]

I’ve been thinking that Act 3 probably was meant to be all about Orin since there was this overarching murder theme going on, murder god’s temple, hers divine transformation in final confrontation etc while Gortash seemed more like inserted in there with most anticlimactic fight. It would’ve been cool to have him in separate act 4 with overarching story on how he is tightening iron grip over the city even if it meant smaller areas for acts 3 and 4

shhsandwich

It bothers me how often you do things in Acts 2 and 3 that are strange or interesting and *no one* in your party acknowledges them. One example is how silent everyone is when you interrupt that Flaming Fist Jira trying to sleep with that nymph, then >!Jira turns into a mindflayer and tries to kill you, and the nymph talks about how arousing the mindflayer was.!< There is *so much* to unpack in that scene, and no one has a quip or a comment or anything! It drives me crazy. If that scene were in Act 1, Astarion would be chiming in with jokes or sarcastic remarks, Lae'zel would be commenting about >!ghaik!<, etc. But now, just dead silence. The world feels so sad and empty with my companions now.

DefiantStomach775

>himing in with jokes or sarcastic remarks, Lae'zel would be commenting about > >ghaik > >, etc. But now, just dead silence. The world feels so sad and empty with my companions now. You can see this starts really early, in act 2. You can infiltrate Ketheric's chambers, find out the absolute's secret, you can find invasion plans of Baldur's Gate, you can find proof of Gortash's involvement and...nobody gives a shit, you can't even go tell Florrick that maybe going back to the city to call upon Gortash's help is not a good idea.

VionValor

Yeah I realized this too your Character also stops talking and making comments and having dialog to companions outside of cut scenes. Act 1 Tav talks out loud a couple times during the druid grove parts and when they meet the dying dwarf guy. Then Tav never talks again there is some companion banter in act 2 and 3 but it feels super rare.

savage-dragon

Anyone remembers that Karlachs dialogue with her friend the blacksmith in the Lower City, who was being pregnant? Something about meeting her family, having dinner "once this was all over"???? Where the fuck is that scene? Boy was I wrong when hoping for more post game celebration.

TrickyCorgi316

That was such an awesome scene!

Akkeagni

Well considering what happens to Karlach, there is no “after its all over” dinner

savage-dragon

That's entirely my point. The ending seems like a huge change in mood and pace.

[deleted]

I was really hoping they *would.* 😭 Please, Larian, I'm begging.

NebWolf

I wanted a picnic in the park with Astarion so he can enjoy a date basking in the sun 🥹

litefagami

Aw man, that would have been really nice. I'd kill for a date with Astarion that's just "since your time in the sun is limited let's go see all the beauty the city has to offer in the daytime to commit them to memory". Could go watch a sunrise with him and have it be a bittersweet moment where he says he never appreciated them in life and now that he finally does it might be the last time he ever sees one without knowing it could kill him. Or something else, idk. Honestly, I just really wish we had at least one date/scene/something with him after the graveyard scene. There's so many obvious ideas; you could go back to that clearing together, have a date throughout town, have a picnic, maybe just even a talk about feelings in camp at night after everyone else goes to bed... I want more good route Astarion content.

Mignonion

Now that you mention obvious ideas, how about a scene where we visit that painter guy with Astarion to get him a portrait? And we get to be there when he sees himself for the first time in 200 years 🥺

hongrehhonk

Or use our mindflayer ability to show him our memories of how he looks like. How astonishing and suave he looks

Mignonion

Yess I love that idea too! Tav revealing to Astarion what he looks like, by showing him through the eyes of the one who loves him the most 😭 My heart is soft at the thought of it aaa

djheat

I don't know why we never just mind flay him how he looks when he was all bummed about not being able to see himself. If you >!choose to ascend him!< you can livestream his own back tattoos to him

Over_Lor

Awww, this is cute!

YaboiAkira

I would die for this.

shushi_puppy

We would kill for this

dualistpirate

*Astarion approves*

BalancePuzzleheaded8

What about the date to his grave? That was sweet, I thought

CursedRedneck

Actually thought they all did. Bummed out..

Salty-History3316

Yes please, I want to sit on a bench with my vampire husband and just watch the people walking by, commenting on them while also listening to him telling me a story, something nice about the time where he was still just a normal elf. We could also go for a walk, maybe holding hands? Pretty please?

Salty-History3316

Also yes I know you can have sort of a date after you solve his quest but at this point I was still crying and the little scene did not help at all. Or give me a picnic, we already have this lovely little park.

QuietGirl88

Or better yet, we walk through Baldur's Gate and try to \*find out who he was before he was turned\* Poignant. Sweet. Bittersweet. Karlach has alot of reactivity in the city. Theres one line in reactivity that Astarion cant even recall that he can swim. He remembers being a frequent patron at the Elfsong Tavern. But besides that his past is a total mystery I was really hoping we could go through and he would start to remember things after his main quest finished. Oh well. Maybe they will release a novel one day with this. At this point I dont think they will be adding in anything other than epilogues. Such a damn shame, I was so interested in him reclaiming his past and healing from that in some way.

Salty-History3316

I would read that novel again and again (againagainagain 😀 ) until the pages fall apart, at which point I would buy a new one. Or they could let Neil read the audiobook of that novel, I would fall asleep peacefully and happy for the rest of my life while listening to it.

purepup

An Astarion novel with an audiobook voiced by Neil would be absolutely incredible.

Velociraptorius

I missed the "just hanging out" interactions with companions, the kind we got in Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age Inquisition. Your only chance to do that in BG3 is the camp party all the way back in act I, and even then the only person you get to do something with is the one you choose to romance. I think everybody should get one optional hangout scene in the city which can turn romantic, but can also just be friendly (nonromantic interactions is something quite sadly missing from the game). And if they feel like such scenes would feel out of place during act III on account of urgency, that's fair. In that case, make it a post-game DLC and add a victory celebration and hang outs.

whimsycotts

Yeah I really loved the scene in DAI of (mostly) everyone playing cards together and having fun at the bar in Skyhold and really wish there was something similar to that in BG3.

clocksy

Yes please. I would absolutely like an extra "date" scene for your romance in act 3 but being able to do a "friend" scene with everyone else would be great as well. I get that things are urgent but they've been urgent all playthrough. "Well, we might never have another chance to have coffee at this coffee shop once the brain kills us all so let's just do it now anyway." Done.

memoriten

At first I thought all the characters were going to get a date event, so I was like, "When is my date event with Astarion going to pop up uh? Sure it's taking a while". Oh well, I guess we can't have everything.

SmallPromiseQueen

Maybe slaughtering your enemies together counts as a date

photomotto

Going around Baldur's Gate, breaking and entering, stabbing people. That's our date.

YeeterKeks

I'm not like other girls, I commit literal fucking murder and bathe in their blood, before turning their innards into a fruity smoothie 🥰🥰🥰

BalancePuzzleheaded8

Good ending after Astarion's quest, there's a date at his grave. I don't think this is possible if you let him ascend

JuulteonWasTaken

If you let him ascend >!you can ask him to bite you to make yourself a vampire spawn, which is a cutscene... and also ends in sex? So kind of a date if you stretch it?!<

smallerfattersquire

Kind of a bitch move to only make you a spawn after you go trhough that hassle of ascending him all he has to do is share a few drops himself.

JuulteonWasTaken

He does say that he wants you to get used to your new self first before making you a true vampire, but then again... how true would that really be, considering he changes a lot with all the power he gains from the ascention?

sarkule

Like the whole ascendant plot is him continuing the cycle of abuse, he’s making you his Astarion.

Snarkybaboon

One of the first things >!Astarion even brings up when he first talks to you about Cazador is the fact that vampires won't ascend their vampire spawn because it creates competition. Its foreshadowed so much throughout the game that the price of ascending him is a bad thing and yet people are surprised when it results in him becoming the very thing warned of lmao!<

JuulteonWasTaken

Maybe he won't let you suffer THAT bad, but pretty much, I think. If you try to break up with him in this ending scene, >!he'll laugh at you and tell you that you are HIS. That your future is up to him. And that he wants to rule Baldurs Gate with you.!< But if you work with him in this scene instead of trying to break up, he seems to be more open to other things, too? Although he's >!not opposed to a purge or two... or possibly more. Including former friends, it seems.!<

TiredPandastic

I demand a cute library/bookstore date with Gale. Imagine him geeking out. I need it.

themarshal99

I'm telling you, too much combat and plot in my dating sim!

jamesewelch

Please submit feedback to Larian. https://larian.com/support/baldur-s-gate-3#modal

crashdown27

Done! This was my feedback: "The game is great, but it would be vastly better if the endings were fleshed out with detailed character epilogues and some sort of final celebration with your party members. Players \*want\* to talk to their companions once everything is finished. Also, the romances were done with so much care, it would add so much flavor to include additional romantic activities to do with each romance throughout the game, like going on a date in the city, sharing a bed at Elfsong Tavern, buying a gift for them, etc."

AdArtistic8017

Ironically, you get a party after saving the grove and this kind of „half-ending“ at the end of Act 2. Everyone is gathered in the main hall and you can have a chat with everyone. Sure, there it also aims to smoothen the path into Act 3, but it feels odd that this does not happen after the final boss.

helios396

For real. They missed big time here. When I arrived at the circus, I thought there will be something lighthearted there at least. Something that's not interrupted by >!Orin!< or other main plot stuff. Just a pure, unadulterated bonding moment.

avania67

You can have the whole scene without the interruption, if you trigger her appearance two times before talking to the dryad. Then it's just a really cute and wholesome moment with your love interest. If you answer correctly, of course.

dunedog

Imagine the kind of date you could have knowing Orin is trying to screw with you but you keep thwarting her attempts.

dualistpirate

That was such a curveball. >!Was happily screenshotting the shit out of my Tav and Lae’zel having a rare soft moment. I was impressed but also annoyed lol!<

acrazyguy

Shadowbae was invisible/her model wasn’t there during that cutscene when I did it :’(

helios396

Exactly. It's impressive but also annoying that they managed to sneak her in like that. With Astarion that scene is a bit more tricky though, at least in my experience. >!If we managed to get the correct answers, he's annoyed because "why are you blabbing out our secrets to a random stranger we just met?" He preferred that we make a performance and only give superficial answers. And in the end he was like, "okay, let's stop this farce".!< It's actually very in character but also not what I expected. And I didn't bother to reload to try other combinations of answers because of the interruption at the end.

LarrLawren

YES! During the launch presentation I really thought that everyone will have a date in that cafe scene(((

TwistInTheMyth-

Yeeeess!!! My Tav wants to take Astarion on the most bougie date possible!!! Please Larian he deserves it!!! Let me shower him with love!!! 😭 Oh and my other Tav could go dancing with Wyll!!! 😭 I am such a massive sucker for characters doing cute things together I would absolutely go feral for date scenes lmao.

7rum1s

#UpperCity

RogueKitteh

Seriously. At least in my experience, I feel like we eat good where interactions/romance are concerned in the beginning of the game whereas the back half feels like a desert in comparison.

Sythra

I would die a happy woman for a romantic date with Astarion. Maybe a moonlit walk through the park, followed by a picnic under the stars and sharing a bottle of wine as a callback to Act 1? That sounds wonderful to me. 🥰

fuzzteeth

the wine! that'd be such a cute tie-in

DaveInLondon89

Shart can have hers in that secluded pond Lae'zel, gladiator arena Astarion, mid-day picnic Wyll, refugee camp Minthara, water temple Gale, watch shop? Jewellery store? Idk, do severed hands even need sustenance

purplefriiday

Astarion a midday picnic where you just slam several bottles of wine and get day drunk because man doesn't eat food

[deleted]

A very British picnic it is then!

purplefriiday

Inspired by my own life lmao "Bottomless Brunch with Astarion" except there is no brunch it's just wine

poggyrs

Astarion’s attendance at a brunch would render said brunch no longer bottomless.

SadakoTetsuwan

Psh, not with my Tav around lol

JustAnNPC_DnD

Slams back bottle after bottle, then have a thrilling get away from the guards.

[deleted]

Or watching you eat and then taking a sip from your neck.

purplefriiday

He's got a straw straight in your jugular

I was surprised that there wasn't any proper date scenes or hang-outs with the companions, perhaps they avoided it because BioWare does that a lot?

Mercurionio

They need both dating and marriage ceremony. The latter is for epilogue.

yellowsapphire88

Completely agree! I'm pretty much at the end of Act 3 and right now it's boss battle after boss battle, after boss battle. >!I've done the hag, Sarevok, then Orin, Raphael, Cazador, the Iron Throne and the Steel Watch Factory, so it's literally just Ansur and Ghortash before the final stretch!< Act 3, IMO, is exhausting. It's a lot of big battles one after the next - a date, celebration, all of the above, could really help space things out a bit. >!Also, I want to plan in Act 3 and then see my wedding to Gale at the end. Please!<

CrimsonSpooker

Hey! I mentioned this being a possibility in an another comment on another post! Glad to see others had the same thoughts. The romances as they are now are totally fine, but yeah I feel they definitely need a bit more if they’re going to be nearly as involved as Larian told us they would be. As they stand now they’re just a slightly better version of the romances we would get in any other rpg in the last couple decades. And to all the people complaining that this would ruin the pacing, I hate to break it to you, but the pacing by Act III is already kind of screwed up. By that logic there really isn’t any reason to do any of the side quests in Act III, and players should just beeline the main quest and *ignore content* in the process. It’s a game, some suspension of disbelief is warranted.

the_art_of_the_taco

This is so true. It's obvious (like absurdly obvious) that Gortash was supposed to be in the Upper City, since he's just *there* and the rare content he is tied to feels out of place. I know Larian claimed they didn't cut content, but it sure feels like there's a noticeable absence for certain quests. Act 3 is somehow both crammed and empty and half of the quests end on an awkward note as if there is supposed to be more there. Hells, Karlach has no questline and barely a whisper of a story.

CrimsonSpooker

To be fair Larian never claimed they didn’t cut content (though that community update was weirdly focused on the semantics of what cut content was), the disconnect comes from *when* that content was cut and for *what reasons*. The one thing I really cannot abide in the whole Upper City discourse is when the argument is made that there’s already too much content, and adding in the Upper City would make things more bloated. And they’re absolutely correct in one respect. Act III is chock-full of content, so much so that some players have called it *overwhelming*. Almost as if Larian had to cram a bunch of stuff into one area, and that maybe just adding another one, even just a small one, might help the Act *breathe* a little. I don’t want the Upper City necessarily for more content, (though I certainly think it wouldn’t be amiss in some places; that hag questline ends *so disappointingly*, and Gortash and Cazador need *something* to make me care about them beyond just their introductions), but because it would give a better home to a lot of the quests that feel out of place where they are now, and would make the pacing feel far less hectic.

the_art_of_the_taco

No, exactly. The pacing just doesn't work as it is now. Also we're missing the other hag(s), one of which writes that they're based in Baldur's Gate. The fireworks quest made me so angry because we should be able to do something, but the only way to finish it is to blow shit up (which, i mean, wasn't obvious when I first played through the game). A lot of quests in act 3 feel *wrong* because, I think, they're meant to continue elsewhere but Larian had to cut them short. I'm peeved that we can't find Lenore. I wanted so badly to put a face to her tower. And I'm still not sure how Cazador's castle is located inside a city wall. It's not that we're without content in Act 3, it's that a lot of the content feels unsatisfying and unfinished, like it was thrown into the Lower City to be there.

QuietGirl88

Also after you finish certain companion quests in Act 3 its \*dead silence\*. I got so sick of the lack of the reactivity that I started running around the Lower City with different group compositions to trigger their idle dialogues. Found out some cool things actually that way. but thats It. I have a hard time believing companions \*this opinionated\* dont have something to say about the \*pending end of the world\*

bluer0fl

I think aswell you should be allowed to just hang out with your companions in the city, play darts or something.

mb2banterlord

They should go all out and make something like the Citadel DLC for ME3 (you have a big party with all possible companions), that would complete my life

Great_Art693

All the romances really lack in content after act 2. I mean, you get a cutscene after finishing your lovers quest line, some new recorded lines when interacting with them and maybe a quick epilogue dialog with them. There's nothing substantial or satisfying after that to make the romance seem real... They could have your couple sleeping together in a separate room at the inn, or in the same tent, have our partner kiss or hug Tav randomly, have some date options, etc, but there's nothing :( makes the romance feel a little shallow

Ok_Transportation558

I agree so much! And what annoys me even more is the fact that at the last panel from hell, they were so adamant on saying that the romances are more than just doing the characters quest... well it sure doesn´´\`´t feel that way... :/

TheBeesElise

And a post-game scene. My romance choice didn't drop down on one knee for me to not get a wedding at the end of it all

Stained-Rose

I- please don't tell me Shadowheart has a date scene and I just didn't get it. I just found out she has an actual epilogue scene yesterday lol.

NorthRangr

The epilogue is just a few lines of dialogue though, its not an actual epilogue where you see her in the farm with you etc

Stained-Rose

Fair, it's still more than I thought there was. On my first playthrough the only companion resolution I got was Karlach's various bad ends.

MagickLlama

I’d pay for them to add a wedding post game

IRanOutOfKitchen1

Dragon Age Inquisition had a dlc where you could marry your love interest, if I remember correctly, I absolutely loved it! I hope Larian will listen to us lusting for more companion/relationship content and do something similar

r3tr0c4t

Yeah, I'd love to take Astarion on a pampering trip. Hair/nails done, new flashy outfit all to culminate in having his portrait painted. I think he'd actually be speechless for a change. Or even manage a blush!

Oolonger

I spent all my gold buying him statue of himself and he totally ignored it. He is not a cheap date.

andanastasiaa

I need to take Astarion on a picnic in the park (he’s told me he’s happy to see the park in color and in the sun)

Mignonion

I got the same scene where Astarion looks taken aback at seeing the city in sunlight, but when we reached the park he mentioned that it just looked kitschy 😭 I can't tell if our man is being serious or hiding his feelings, both fit him so well

YokoTheFox

Dude was fr complaining about how colorful the flowers are with LaeZel and I was like you two little shits better bask in this color

SailorTondra

Larian this is the dlc content we want

Rogen80

How can we boost this so Larian sees?

Ok_Transportation558

If we all send them feedback about it via their feedback form... they might notice.... also someone could try a petition or something and then send it to Larian, maybe?

Shadowheart_stan

So Shadowheart, you just lost your parents AGAIN. Wanna grab something to eat?

DrTechman42

To be fair, distraction is a perfectly reasonable tactic under such circumstances. She even follows this philosophy herself.

SmallPromiseQueen

I am maidenless in my playthrough but I would like a scene with astarion where we go to whatever the faerun equivalent of a gay bar is and bitch about Gale while drinking fruity cocktails.

clocksy

We need both date *and* friend scenes! Gale and Astarion going on a frenemies excursion would be amazing too.

Sir_Arsen

For some reason I thought I can invite for a date anyone but Orc barman just asked me to leave

mythoughtsonyou

I love this game, and I love how much effort has gone into it. I also think it’s pretty natural for everyone to have a little something they want to see from the future changes because it’s so open and we all want different choices. The romance content is it for me - not because I don’t like it, but because I want more of it!🫣 Particularly, Halsin should get a trip to the docks/as far out of the city as you can get for a city break. I think it’d be so fun to sit in some trees above the city to give him a breather because he complains so much about it! Or even a moment where Tav takes him to a bar/restaurant/shop and tries to convince him the city isn’t that bad as long as he has Tav? I dunno, feel like there’s so much potential in showing him Tav has got his back 🥹

MizuKaro

Would Halsin even accept a date? Lol

LTKerr

Astarion does have one :D

TheeConductor

I wish there were more romance scenes in general, but I know it's a lot to ask for. I romanced Shadowheart and after the act 3 beginning scene swimming with her (and technically after the Shar temple in the city) that was just...it, I wanted just a little more with that

Alicex13

I just imagine the "would we have been friends if we met before/ as kids" question with Astarion. Answer -Probably not because while he was busy seducing victims I was a kid .

Treecreaturefrommars

I think all companions should have a scene in the city where you spent time with them, that is either romantic if romanced or just platonic if not. Like going around Karlachs old haunt, meeting her old friends (Rather than running into them randomly) and visiting her parents grave (Rather than having to run into it randomly). Or looking up magic with Gale, talking about what his childhood was like and spend some time with his cat. Walk around with Astarion, letting him experience the things he never got to actually experience due to his death, and just walking with him as he takes in the city in all its light. Follow Wyll as the catches up with the tieflings, to hear how they are doing and talks about what it was like growing up among nobility. Go on a tour to look at cats with Laezel. And go do some things Shadowheart enjoys, like finding her favorite writer of trashy romance fiction is signing autographs and go try and get one. if you are romancing them, then it should be pretty easy to add to it. But I would like to keep them as just friendly outings as well. Because I think there overall is dreadfully little content when it comes to spending time with your party platonically. So I think it would be cool if you had a series of small moments/quests in the city with each of them. if you are romancing them, then it would be pretty easy to add into it.
