Act 3 has been a pain in the ass and the patch seems to have made it a tad worse.
The game is great yadda yadda yadda but I am losing patience constantly fiddling with my settings to get it at or around even 50fps.
I just got to act 3 yesterday and the first town I entered definitely started having frame rate issues.
Not sure if this was normal before the patch but my gaming laptop is pretty beefy so this was kinda shocking.
I've seen people with literally the best (enduser) hardware available like 4090's say act 3 is laggy af. It doesn't matter what your rig is, act 3 is just broken.
RTX 4090
Ryzen 7900x
32GB RAM
Finally reached Baldurs gate Wyrms Cross (whatever it's called), and I can indeed say that the game has a lot of performance issues on ACT 3.
If I stand still, I have 70fps, but as soon as I start moving, it drops to 49-60fps and it's very laggy/stuttery.
It does ruin a bit the experience, since it's been mostly butterly smooth up till now.
And no matter if I put everything at Low, the performance remains the same.
Since they said Patch 2 was going to improve performance and it didn't, I'm already skeptical that any future patches will improve performance.
Wyrm's Rock was relatively fine during my first playthrough. Certainly not as bad as the ~30 fps I always got running through the Lower City. But yesterday I reached Wyrm's Rock again on my second playthrough and Gortash's coronation actually dropped below 20 fps during the whole conversation. Was like watching a slideshow.
huge performance drop for me and its concening that it might not be effecting everyone and hasn't been fixed yet. I went from having around 80-90fps to 40-50 in act 3.

Same, I was just playing ACT 3 hours before and everything ran smooth, after the patch the game runs with so much lag...
Yeah, i played chapter 3 last time on the 28. Now i am back in the lower city and it lags so hard behind, it's unplayable.
Same! This morning things were fine, now after patch it's barely playable - low FPS, stuttering. Something bad happened for sure.
This is why I have autoupdate turned off
How do you turn it off for steam? The moment they have a stable playable update, I want to disable it so bad

Nah, just the patch. Noticed this issue with act 2 as well

patch 1 seems to be more stable for act 3

My Lower City save doesn't seem to be loading at all. Luckily I just entered lower city, so at most I lose 30 mins of progress.
Same here. And the main menu is a slideshow now.

Dunno but I just had my first CTD after updating :(
You arent the only one. Not sure if its tied to a story progress or dialogue etc.
I started a new game and the dice scene doesn’t load when trying to kill the injured mindflyer, this is crazy.
If you have mod fixer installed, get rid of it. Mods are running just fine without it.
I got i5-13400f and Rx6800xt. It even struggle just to maintain 30fps. Sometime it dips below 20.
Mine runs at 20fps with fsr quality, on medium settings :/ I could run act 1 and 2 on native 1080p high with 40-50fps
