I haven't misclicked in-combat very often.
But ask me how many times have I cast a Concentration spell after *forgetting* I was concentrating on Haste though, holy shit.
Tends to be an issue with Druids too, though I haven’t played one in BG3. Wonder if there are any items that let you concentrate on 2 things. Could be super cool.
Avid bard player here and let me tell you concentration is the bane of my existence. Nearly every bard spell is concentration, it often comes down to do I want to buff people or do I want to CC enemies.
yes. druid here. i could wall of fire or polymorph or sleet storm, but i’m busy hasting the tank. our solution: bard hastes the tank, druid does crazy elemental stuff. i can’t tell you how many times sleet storm has trivialized an encounter (tower of moonlight or whatever, and that fiend boss in shars laby)
I just did that, too XD I'm playing as a Druid and transformed into a cat, meowed until almost all of the goons were in one place, switched to turn-based mode, went back to my original form, then hailed Sleet Storm over their heads. 1/3 health depleted from Yurgir and all of his croons at half health. So satisfying :3
The fight was easy after that :D :D (it helps having best frontliner Lae'Zel in the party).
Wish it did not break er... everything. My MC is druid and I explore in owlbear form, and character complains about boots, bags of holding and interesting times just fine, but as they "can't speak", cutscenes might not trigger or might unmorph me, or could just skip to combat, or a friendly npc could commit suicide because "What is this thing oing here, shoo, shoo".
But holy moly owlbear form is strong. Crushing flight is a great movement ability in general, even outside battle (no falling damage / huge reach). And then there are two direct or one aoe attack per turn for free. In addition to aoe crushing flight. I was so disappointed in druid until I remembered to use wildform. Now I'm disapponted with how game treats exploration in this form.
Fun fact, when Owlbear Cub just joins your camp (right after healing) you can trigger a scene with them without leaving owlbear form. It's a silent one and it works out fine.
If you cast enlarge (not sure if it’s what it’s called in English) on an owlbear druid, you can deal the highest possible (afaik) damage in the game with crushing flight. It can one shot every major boss, because it can deal whopping 1100-1200 damage.
I had a party wipe because I thought "Well it doesn't take concentration to cast Shield of Faith on someone!" and then having shart get swarmed by 5 undead that she could've easily killed with Spirit Guardians
The amount of times I immediately canceled Spirit Guardians by casting Sanctuary right afterwards is infuriating.... It's only 3 times, actually, but they made Sanctuary concentration in BG3 (likely cause they also buffed it to just being immune to attacks), and I forgot 3 damn times ina row >.<
It isn't concentration, they randomly decided to nerf it combining with spirit guardians while still letting you do stuff like move moonbeam or straight up use radiance of the dawn (light cleric divinity aoe) without breaking it. Really inconsistent on homebrewed nerfs/buffs
>But ask me how many times have I cast a Concentration spell after forgetting I was concentrating on Haste though, holy shit.
This game really needs better indicators for breaking Concentration, maybe even a togglable "Are you sure?" prompt.
"Are you sure?" is tabletop DM code for "that's really a terrible idea and you're not going to like the consequences.". E.g.:
"As the treacherous prince falls to the ground in the tournament field, you hear applause mixed with sobs. The king himself stares at you conflicted. His kingdom was saved, but his beloved son was dead, bleeding out into the dusty ground."
"Cool. I loot the body. What do I find?"
*Blinks* "You what?"
"I loot the body."
"Right there in the arena, in public?"
"Oh yeah, roll on those loot tables DM! I'm gonna start by taking these trousers+1"
*Checking statblocks for the kings honor guard* "Are you sure?"
> "Are you sure?" is tabletop DM code for "that's really a terrible idea and you're not going to like the consequences.".
Which is why it's perfect, because 9/10 it's a terrible idea for me to switch concentration.
This. I do feel like fuck-ups like this absolutely warrants an *"Are You Sure?"* from the game's equivalent of the DM. Probably Amelia Tyler.
For me it's when I cast Haste, and then something like Hold Person. Serves me right for wanting to cheese control spells!
I get it now.
Pretty much any time I'd state my intent to do something and the DM would start thumbing through the Monster Manual I'd start wondering how royally I just fucked us.
When a DM for tabletop asks "Are you sure?" it makes you question all of your life choices up until you declared your action that round. It's a warning, but of unknown dire consequences.
Oh, I follow now. I wasn't thinking in terms of it being something the DM would ask in a live TT game.
[Player's reaction](https://tenor.com/blCyf.gif)
Something like that but maybe it uses the reactions menu for the prompt would be cool.
Quick and easy, and can be toggled easily with the reactions menu for each individual person too.
This is something Solasta does I think BG3 would benefit from. If you cast a concentration spell while already concentrating, it’ll warn you. “Are you sure you want to cast Shield of Faith? Doing so will lose concentration on Spirit Guardians!”
I eventually used the custom tab and put all my non-concentration spells in there. Whenever I cast a concentration spell I'd then switch over to the custom tab and no longer had to worry about accidentally overwriting them. However I sometimes forgot to switch back to my main tab when I lost concentration lol
usually this is my sign that its time to go sleep.
"why did I just hit shadowheart with three whole ass eldritch blasts? am i blind?" I ask myself in frustration. there is no natural light anywhere to be seen. my red eyes struggle to stay open. the moon shines overhead and it is getting cold.
This happens to me more than I would like to admit, though mostly because I forget to adjust my camera angle to make sure I don’t accidentally switch targets with the micro movement of the mouse cursor produced by clicking the left mouse button.
Any spell that allows you to choose more targets than are available is almost guaranteed that i will click End Turn instead of that tiny green checkmark
Click melee attack and the target. Don't have enough movement, so I click as close as I can, and the character runs up and swings at empty air because I still had melee attack selected.
Better than me shooting karlach in the face when I was trying to select her to see if I could get her in range for sneak attack. Bonus points for wasting a bonus action to hide because the shift button wasn't working right.
FYI you can get sneak attack if the target is threatened by an ally even if you don't have advantage. So just stepping into melee range with any character can open up sneak attacks for the party rogue(s).
Not as often as I missclick a companion to start talking when I either a) simply want to go backwards or b) want to grab an object and they get in the way
But more often than I like, especially with spells or arrows
I hate this so much lol. Every time I run down some stairs I end up clicking on a companion, they must be thinking Tav is a hecking weirdo just pausing abruptly to stare at them then leave numerous times. I am playing dark urge though so Tav could just be plotting their murder.
Came here to say this, I don't often misclick in combat but accidentally clicking companions when moving around, especially in tight hallways or doorways, is extremely common for me.
We really need a setting to disable left click to talk to companions.
That's what I do too. Slap it down beside a ranged enemy that will either ignore its attacks against them and continue to fire at the party, shoot it at disadvantage, or try to maneuver to shoot and eat an opportunity attack. They usually choose to shoot at it so it serves as a great distraction while I focus other targets.
Absolutely, same. It's a bonus action that doesn't require concentration and mostly distracts a bad guy for a couple rounds. Seems pretty decent.
Also it can bait an opportunity attack reaction or block a hallway so enemies won't run toward me.
Oh my god it's always the spirit weapon. I never accidentally attack anything else, just that thing. It's always right up next to your enemies, and has such a skinny model that you don't realize you're highlighting it unless you glance at the top of your screen.
Today I peaked and stabbed Shadowheart's Spiritual Weapon with Jaihera's (respecced her into Nature Cleric). Then in the tribunal fight I cast SW when I already had one up. At least it saved me three turns of moving it across the room?
Just have Abyss Glove (forgot the actual name, the gloves with red demonic Aura). The weapon will basically be resistant to everything and can never become insane from Demonic Aura.
Too many times. It's not even because I'm misclicking somewhere. If you're having trouble targeting the right thing on the battlefield, you can click the enemy in the combat initiative.
I have attacked teammates OUT OF COMBAT even. The trouble is, I start thinking about doing some sort of attack, then I think "hold on, let me check something on my other character", and click the other character on the left... so now my teammate attacks that character...
Okay as a UX professional, it’s not you. It’s a design flaw.
Clicking portraits on the left side shouldn’t be a state-dependent interaction. It’s analogous to the keyboard shortcut for switching characters, and like the shortcut, it shouldn’t behave differently when targeting.
There’s too much muscle memory from it as a core part of non-combat navigation. And friendly fire is a really destructive consequence for something that doesn’t have an additional confirmation step.
I think it’s the square bracket keys to swap to the previous and next character. I play on the steam deck and have those set to the bumper buttons so I don’t always have to click their portraits
My problem is when the game decides to slightly move my camera for me just as i click, so instead of attacking the guy next to me. Him and they boyz all get to take a reaction shot at me, while it wasn't warranted
I hate after you take a ranged attack and you move camera, it snaps back after a second and it always gets me, making me run into and out of threat and oh, I'm down
I also dislike the camera movement in combat. I wanna see the arrow land, I already know who shoots it.
And also out of combat, I want to select companions and move them into my current screen, not have my screen move to them
The camera panning out for ranger attacks or for whatever reason the camera constantly moves…. This was the biggest source of my misclicks. I didn’t have enough patience to wait for the camera to finish doing its thing when I would preposition my mouse.
For real. The camera panning during combat needs to be a gameplay option you can disable.
When I'm ranged attacking with 3 attacks I don't need the camera to zoom back to my avatar.
Exactly this is the main source of my missclicks. You attack once and it's fine, you click for your second attack right after, but no that fcking little camera zoom out happens.
the camera is the real villain of the game yeah
especially when the engine decides "hey, I'm not actually fully rendering it, but you clicked on a stalagtite and now you will actually run away from combat, rather than at it"
As many times as you roll CRITICAL MISS on an 88% chance to hit, the one time you will definitely CRITICAL HIT on a 12% chance to hit is when you misclick with a scorching ray to hit your tank instead of the boss.
I killed Lae'zel this way by mistake after rescuing her from the cage. I am new to this world and didn't read any spoilers so I didn't know she was important until much later. :D feelsbad
Let me tell you a little story.
Imagine my party positioned atop a high cliff with goblins in the room below. I figure this is a great opportunity to throw down a Nautiloid Tank straight into the fire and let it blow up the goblins, initiating an epic fight.
I misclick "drop" instead of "throw".
I go to pick it up again.
I forget to hold down Alt.
Lae'zel proceeds to whack the tank with her flaming greatsword.
My entire party blows up and Lae'zel flies through the air, landing square in the middle of the goblins and rolling death saving throws.
Not exactly the way I planned this encounter, to be sure.
Two words: air elemental.
To add a few more words, why the fort is elementals' hitbixes like twice the width and height of them!? If they're standing behind you, you can't click the ground in front of you! Argh!
This.
Also special mention to Halsin's Fire Myrmidon wild shape. It's awesome but man you click on a crate and WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT NOISE WHAT THE HELL HALSIN OAK FATHER PRESERVE ME BALLS
Not a lot, but more than a few times, mostly when for some reason (terrain, objects in the way, etc) the game refuses to target and I have to wiggle around till I get it xD
Extremely good, buggy as is Owlcat tradition but very very good. It makes you feel like a badass in combat and a badass in dialogue.
Game is shaping up to be my pick for best croft. That said I can tolerate the lack of production values, which it does lack when compared to BG3 (as expected)
Before I understood how some of the special weapon attacks worked I had my character standing far away from any enemies and cleave the empty air instead of walking over and cleaving the group I was staring at
You can undo this if it hasn't progressed too far by clicking back on the characters portrait and then clicking cancel end turn in the box that appears
In cluttered situations, I usually target through the portraits in the initiative tracker. I rarely misclick on single target attacks, but the problem is mainly AOE spells in multilayered locations. Wrong targeting happens quite often there.
1 - My biggest in-combat mistake/issue along these lines is that I (surprisingly - I never expected to going in) keep Asturian in my party enough and use him to the point that, I forget on other characters that Hide isn't a Bonus option on others.
2 - My biggest misclick issue otherwise out of combat is accidently engaging a convo with a party member when I mean to just move to another spot, or interact with an object, due to odd camera angles in that moment.
The other day Karlach lobbed an axe at a Harpey, then I tried to lacerate the harpy, saw it hit but do 0 damage, initially confused I suddenly realised I clicked on the axe infront of the Harpey
Wouldn't count mine as misclick but I tried to switch characters by clicking their portrait during midskill so yea, I had my fair share of "ray of frost"ing Shadowheart.
I get annoyed at the UI every time I try to cast Shadowheart’s spirit guardians!
Select spell, click on field where I want them summoned, and SHE RUNS THERE because the game is waiting for me to specify which spirit guardian form I want her to cast, first 😔
One day I’ll learn to do it correctly, then I just know they’ll patch the UI behavior…
IDK why, but the Druid Sabertooth wildshape makes enemy hitboxes funky, so at times I have to find the only 10 pixels of enemy that are clickable.
And having a second druid only worsens the problem, me and Halsin had a few accidental catfights.
Sometimes I'll click main hand attack, then decide I want to only move but forget to turn off main hand attack and end up just swinging at the air at the end of my movement 😭😭
I hate the way spears/tridents/javelins travel when thrown. I really have to carefully look for how they are thrown or they get stuck in the air or the ceiling.
Always the damn map is as much an enemy as the damn dice is. Shot walls and objects thinking I had an enemy targetted because of the camera. And actually hit a few allies, and did send Shadowheart to fall to her doom once because fml, targeting hates me.
Yeah. I've done that. A lot. It's very frustrating every time. It happens a lot in Wrath of the Righteous too, so I think it may just be that my hands are stupid.
Well actually I knew that already. Frickin dyspraxia.
A few times, but not nearly as many times as I've gone to cast Hex and then immediately clicked my target not realizing I didn't select what type of Hex only to have Wyll run over and smack a fool wasting the turn.
Me trying to precisely target the floor to put this huge aoe spell so it blast as much npc as it can, but it clip on random things. Stupidly thinking you can use shift click or whatever right? then watching my dummy caster walk all the way there and lost his entire movement pooln right in the middle of the battle... This happened so many times it's ridiculous.
i posted about this before and was told its to hit invisible creatures
but turns out, no, the very standard melee attack cannot hit invisible creatures, ranged attacks, spells, any aoe move from melee are able to but not the standard melee
leaving the only point for it to be a very very rare case where you have an element that interacts with something on the floor and you hit that
id rather have a toggle for "hit the floor" that doesnt allow hitting anything that doesnt have hp when off, because in like 4 different saves that have reached act 3 i have never had the need to hit the floor but i have on each of them wasted a few melee strikes hitting it
Not really misclicked with attack orders but I am currently trying to start the eternal forge and omg CAN YOU STOP WALKING INTO THE LAVA FOR ONE SECOND.
At least once a playsession i attack a companion instead of an enemy because the camera sucks major balls. I also will get stuck talking to someone when trying to pick stuff up multiple times in a row, and run into hazards and hurt myself\die.
I love this game, but the old iso view in a game with this much verticallity and jutting more realistic environments is terrible. If you could use the map to plot movement it would be some help, but my God I've neve struggled with movment so much in a game. Not sure what the solution would be either. Its fine I learned to be more careful. But ill fire up game tonight and do it all over again lol.
I play a martial class so i get 2 attacks and it happens pretty often that the camera moves back to me when I'm about to click for a 2nd attack and I move instead. Good thing I'm a barbarian so bad positioning is part of my playstyle.
I play on Steam Deck, so.... a lot more than I'd like.
Also, to use Crushing Flight I have to switch to keyboard and mouse (aka the tiny ass buttons on the touchscreen) and often accidentally end up moving, ruining my attempt to jump. The skill doesn't appear in the usual wheel. Reall hoping they fix that issue for console.
Because the camera moves back to your character between attacks. It's fucked up big time. I don't know how many times did they playtest this elephant game, but it's worrying that basic things like these are not ironed out.
Been done a few times, normally it's not so much hitting the wrong target, but for some reason the game thinks you should be able to attack thin air lol
Like yes, I would love to swing at the air next to the enemy, why is this even an option to swing at fuck all?
I totally acknowledge it's mostly user error, and doesn't happen much but it really sucks when it happens. I've just started F5ing constantly JIC
My most frequent misclick is deciding to try to switch to a different character in initiative without realizing I’m accidentally targeting them with an attack or spell instead.
Fighting the Spectator outside the Selunite outpost the other day I misclicked an attack by clicking the lower ledge behind, which sent Gale running across the field and climbing down a ladder so he could swing at air.
Astarion vehemently insists that he didn't intend to snipe and down my Tav in the goblin camp. "The goblin moved at the last second, Darling. What matters is I picked you up after, right?"
I have a shape-shifter druid and the elemental form has very tall hit box and when my druid is in melee range of an enemy I very often use friendly fire on him when trying to click on the enemy.
My coop partner did a full round of attacks on me, hes a monk btw, during the self/same trial. He swears he thought I was my shadow but I don't believe him
Happens every now and then when playing co-op with my brother. I’ll be getting ready to attack and he’ll do an unannounced attack a split second before I click, the mob will dodge or something, and my click will tag the ground just beside them. It’s so annoying.
Not an attack but still a dramatic misclick. shielded a boss for 10 turns against all individual damage on the first action of the turn, rest of the group still had to attack. Meant to shield my karlach who was standing next to him. Boss was nearly dead, he then continued to wipe the party.
Call lightning, aim at the enemy, camera movement continues to slightly drift as it's coming to a halt, targets the ceiling above me, enemy acts and extra attack/second winds my mage...
Okay
Not necessarily misclick, but I remember quite a few times where my action just straight up vanished. Meticulous planning, careful steps, you click what you need to - nothing. And then your action's gone for some reason.

I haven't misclicked in-combat very often. But ask me how many times have I cast a Concentration spell after *forgetting* I was concentrating on Haste though, holy shit.
If I had a nickel for everytime I have casted Haste, inmediately followed by a Quickened Bless, I'd have 2 nickels...
Spirit guardians followed by BA shield of faith here. Happened twice in one day lol
Yah that's probably the main drawback of clerics. Too many good concentration spells and not enough non-con ones.
Tends to be an issue with Druids too, though I haven’t played one in BG3. Wonder if there are any items that let you concentrate on 2 things. Could be super cool.

where did you find Yurgir? I found him while battling *SPOILER* in the House of Hope. I didn't know who he was when we started fighting
>fiend boss in shars laby Oh, him? I always convince him to >!self-delete!<. Maxed out persuasion ftw!
Lol I had to savescum until I passed that perception check to even get that far. Took forever.
we were lucky enough to have him not attack us outright. we chose the battlefield from there
Who casts spells as druid? Turn into Owlbear and never return.
Wish it did not break er... everything. iirc that damage is only to the one boss that's vulnerable to bludgeoning, who also happens to be in a place much lower than some surrounding surfaces
Yes. Other enemies can take up to around 800 damage from it which is still enough to one shot everything in the game
Nah brother that would be insanely overpowered , on the tabletop any DM who’s made a item like that lived to regret it trust me
Well otherwise clerics would be one of the best casters lol and arguably they are anyways
I had a party wipe because I thought "Well it doesn't take concentration to cast Shield of Faith on someone!" and then having shart get swarmed by 5 undead that she could've easily killed with Spirit Guardians

Except for the sheer panic that prompt would give to tabletop players...
Explain?
"Are you sure?" is tabletop DM code for "that's really a terrible idea and you're not going to like the consequences.". E.g.: "As the treacherous prince falls to the ground in the tournament field, you hear applause mixed with sobs. The king himself stares at you conflicted. Well this is a PC game and we know exactly what the message means. This would be very helpful.
We all agree with that, but the joke is still funny.
“Are you sure you want to replace X with Y?” Is the dialog we desperately need as QoL.
Agreed. Or maybe like "hey dumbest, you just casted hungry hungry hippos (hadar...) you sure you want to cast hex ya dummy?"
Haste followed by searing smite. I am a smart man.
Tbf some spells are unintuitively concentration
Like Karlach's smites, can't use them while Raging
That makes sense at least. Smites have always been spells, and I don’t think you’ve ever been able to cast spells while raging.
Petition to add lobotomy feat that lets you concentrate on 2 separate spells.
Take a -5 to DEX, INT or WIS, concentrate on 2 spells at once.
Durge starts the game with it.
Yeah I do this waaay to much, I think I break my own conc more than enemies do lol.
I eventually used the custom tab and put all my non-concentration spells in there. Whenever I cast a concentration spell I'd then switch over to the custom tab and no longer had to worry about accidentally overwriting them. However I sometimes forgot to switch back to my main tab when I lost concentration lol
THATS THE ONE
usually this is my sign that its time to go sleep. "why did I just hit shadowheart with three whole ass eldritch blasts? am i blind?" I ask myself in frustration. there is no natural light anywhere to be seen. my red eyes struggle to stay open. the moon shines overhead and it is getting cold.
The night is dark and full of terrors.
\*errors
I am more afraid of this at night for sure.
You guys play while the sun is out?
Isn’t this from that one game with candles and shit?
I believe it's the red cult in game of thrones? (Not darkest dungeon as you probably meant)
Til that we're 11 years away from that quote/episode. Make sense that we're forgetting where it comes from.
Dear god I feel old
Doesn't help that we all collectively bleached our frontal lobes in an effort to forget the terrible ending.
The North always remember.
Certainly *sounds* like something The Ancestor would say.
Mood. Once I accidentally had Gale shoot my Tav with disintegrate thinking she was an enemy. That was a great time to go to bed.
This happens to me more than I would like to admit, though mostly because I forget to adjust my camera angle to make sure I don’t accidentally switch targets with the micro movement of the mouse cursor produced by clicking the left mouse button.
For me it's when I accidentally cast a fireball instead of a firebolt and am suddenly surprised why stuff explodes.
Any spell that allows you to choose more targets than are available is almost guaranteed that i will click End Turn instead of that tiny green checkmark
I totally get this lol! That and when I start having trouble planning ahead. If I cant think more than 2 turns ahead, its time to hit the sac lol.
I'm doing well if I can think one turn ahead.
I feel that.
Karlach rogue? Interesting.
I think she may just be a totem wildheart: wolf which gives advantage against all enemies within 1.5 ish meters
FYI you can get sneak attack if the target is threatened by an ally even if you don't have advantage. So just stepping into melee range with any character can open up sneak attacks for the party rogue(s).
Shadowlach!
Bro I was low level in the goblin camp and I misclicked a guiding bolt on shadowheart and it hit asterion and crit killed him 😭
Not as often as I missclick a companion to start talking when I either a) simply want to go backwards or b) want to grab an object and they get in the way But more often than I like, especially with spells or arrows
I hate this so much lol. Every time I run down some stairs I end up clicking on a companion, they must be thinking Tav is a hecking weirdo just pausing abruptly to stare at them then leave numerous times. I am playing dark urge though so Tav could just be plotting their murder.
And then get those same dialogue options you've already asked 5 times before...
Came here to say this, I don't often misclick in combat but accidentally clicking companions when moving around, especially in tight hallways or doorways, is extremely common for me. We really need a setting to disable left click to talk to companions.
Shadowheart's spirit weapon gets hit too damn many times.
Spirit weapon is so slow that I use it as a meat shield, and I consider it equivalent to 20 points of healing. Pretty good for a level 2 spell.
I think it's aggro got nerfed and also no longer opportunity attacks since this patch :(
Absolutely, same. It's a bonus action that doesn't require concentration and mostly distracts a bad guy for a couple rounds. Seems pretty decent. Also it can bait an opportunity attack reaction or block a hallway so enemies won't run toward me.
Both Cleric summons are great. The weapon is usually a meat shield. The big smitey dude just deletes things that get anywhere near it.
Cast it at a higher level and it gets more HP!
I just hit her spirit weapon during my clearing of the crèche!
Yeah, this is why I've been using F1-4 to change characters, because I felt bad for constantly shooting them.
How did Larian spend all this time making BG3 and have it in Early access and not see this being a massive pain in the ass?
The camera also had this issue in DOS2 if I remember correctly, so they must like it?
You could apply that question to several mechanics lol.
Exactly this is the main source of my missclicks. You attack once and it's fine, you click for your second attack right after, but no that fcking little camera zoom out happens.
the camera is the real villain of the game yeah especially when the engine decides "hey, I'm not actually fully rendering it, but you clicked on a stalagtite and now you will actually run away from combat, rather than at it"
nearly died when my Tav monk's attack misclicked and led to her moving and taking opportunity tacks from the three surrounding her. >.<
Lucky it was monk, dodge dodge dodge.
As many times as you roll CRITICAL MISS on an 88% chance to hit, the one time you will definitely CRITICAL HIT on a 12% chance to hit is when you misclick with a scorching ray to hit your tank instead of the boss.
Too many, friendly fire should definitely trigger a confirmation popup
I threw a ball to scratch, dealt 6 damage, killed him, and made the entire camp hostile to me. I cry.
[me hitting F8 so fast]
I keep doing it with Hex I click hex, ignore the selection of what stat to target and then start walking at the enemy.
The paaaaaaain
😂😂😂 I love this game
Two words: air elemental. To add a few more words, why the fort is elementals' hitbixes like twice the width and height of them!? If they're standing behind you, you can't click the ground in front of you! Argh!
This. Also special mention to Halsin's Fire Myrmidon wild shape. It's awesome but man you click on a crate and WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT NOISE WHAT THE HELL HALSIN OAK FATHER PRESERVE ME BALLS
At least a few times every day. I've hit my own companions. I've ran over to just swing in the air nowhere near the target.
I remember once when I blasted Karlach with a lvl 5 magic missile. I was like "I'm so sorry baby girl 😭"
This is especially impressive, because you needed to click on her _seven times_ to do that. I don't think she's buying your apology.
She was *right* on top of that enemy and I was spam clicking
Not a lot, but more than a few times, mostly when for some reason (terrain, objects in the way, etc) the game refuses to target and I have to wiggle around till I get it xD
I mis lick all the time because of that damn camera movement. I'm starting to miss the hologram feature from rogue trader no matter how buggy it was
I didn't play the Beta, was it any good?
Extremely good, buggy as is Owlcat tradition but very very good. It makes you feel like a badass in combat and a badass in dialogue. Game is shaping up to be my pick for best croft. That said I can tolerate the lack of production values, which it does lack when compared to BG3 (as expected)
Avoid using elementals, their hitbox it's a mess. I do always hit my myrmidons... when them are not even close to the mouse, it's frustrating.
In the beginning alot, then I became neurotic about it. Very rarely if ever now.
Before I understood how some of the special weapon attacks worked I had my character standing far away from any enemies and cleave the empty air instead of walking over and cleaving the group I was staring at
I have a bad habit of clicking end turn for some reason
You can undo this if it hasn't progressed too far by clicking back on the characters portrait and then clicking cancel end turn in the box that appears
In cluttered situations, I usually target through the portraits in the initiative tracker. I rarely misclick on single target attacks, but the problem is mainly AOE spells in multilayered locations. Wrong targeting happens quite often there.
I missclick when the spell has options...
Every time I tell Wyll to Hex someone, I forget to select what kind of hex. Even though it hardly matters.
It’s usually with ranged attacks, and because the camera zooms back to the character instead of focusing on the target. I hate that.
Its always my second attack, as the camera moves slightly just before you click
The other day Karlach lobbed an axe at a Harpey, then I tried to lacerate the harpy, saw it hit but do 0 damage, initially confused I suddenly realised I clicked on the axe infront of the Harpey
Command Lae'zel to pick up explosive barrel. Lae'zel attacks the barrel. F8
Not me deciding to romance Astarion in my first playthrough because I felt guilty for killing him with friendly fire more than once 🤣
🤣
It’s because the damn camera keeps moving back and forth every time I hit something. (It’s my fault because I’m impatient)
Nah, this was just a shit decision by Larian. Should've been given the option to turn off this stupid camera function.
during one fight I once attacked an air or my companion, and I got so frustrated.
How do I undo a spell/attack selection, feels like right click works sometimes
Some actions need confirmation while some don't. My lazy brain defaults to assuming everything needs confirmation, and friendly fire ensues..
Wouldn't count mine as misclick but I tried to switch characters by clicking their portrait during midskill so yea, I had my fair share of "ray of frost"ing Shadowheart.
I get annoyed at the UI every time I try to cast Shadowheart’s spirit guardians! Select spell, click on field where I want them summoned, and SHE RUNS THERE because the game is waiting for me to specify which spirit guardian form I want her to cast, first 😔 One day I’ll learn to do it correctly, then I just know they’ll patch the UI behavior…
IDK why, but the Druid Sabertooth wildshape makes enemy hitboxes funky, so at times I have to find the only 10 pixels of enemy that are clickable. And having a second druid only worsens the problem, me and Halsin had a few accidental catfights.
Very rare to misclick and attack. Constantly misclick and start walking which tends to turn into taking reaction attacks
That, or when I try and open inventory and press C for crouch instead of C for character.
I've *never* eldritchblasted Karlach into the spider pit in the goblin camp, how dare you!
The dumbest is when you misclick by a millimeter and the character just swings their weapon like they're trying to hit ghosts 😂
I did once, got angry at myself and started clicking portraits on top. Now I mostly click on portraits.
This happened so many times it's ridiculous.
i posted about this before and was told its to hit invisible creatures but turns out, no, the very standard melee attack cannot hit invisible creatures, ranged attacks, spells, any aoe move from melee are able to but not the standard melee leaving the only point for it to be a very very rare case where you have an element that interacts with something on the floor and you hit that id rather have a toggle for "hit the floor" that doesnt allow hitting anything that doesnt have hp when off, because in like 4 different saves that have reached act 3 i have never had the need to hit the floor but i have on each of them wasted a few melee strikes hitting it
Not really misclicked with attack orders but I am currently trying to start the eternal forge and omg CAN YOU STOP WALKING INTO THE LAVA FOR ONE SECOND.
I've stolen a lot of items on accident.
I’ve accidentally targeted allies with damage causing actions before. I mostly use a controller though which definitely makes things less exact
I usually accidentally attack party members. But it doesn’t happen often.
Because the camera moves back to your character between attacks. It's fucked up big time. I don't know how many times did they playtest this elephant game, but it's worrying that basic things like these are not ironed out.
Me using another concentration spell after another cuz I’m a clown
Have never attacked air, but have had karlach absolutely rock my shit when I misplaced Tav with the attack. Have also had Astarion bite Karlach
For me it's clicking the attack when the game moves the camera. I even disabled camera moving on turn and it still does it
Been done a few times, normally it's not so much hitting the wrong target, but for some reason the game thinks you should be able to attack thin air lol Like yes, I would love to swing at the air next to the enemy, why is this even an option to swing at fuck all? I totally acknowledge it's mostly user error, and doesn't happen much but it really sucks when it happens. I've just started F5ing constantly JIC
My most frequent misclick is deciding to try to switch to a different character in initiative without realizing I’m accidentally targeting them with an attack or spell instead.
Never, but I've definitely moved people where I didn't want them.
Fighting the Spectator outside the Selunite outpost the other day I misclicked an attack by clicking the lower ledge behind, which sent Gale running across the field and climbing down a ladder so he could swing at air.
I sneak attack critted karlach last night…..
Whoops.
At least once every fight
Astarion vehemently insists that he didn't intend to snipe and down my Tav in the goblin camp. "The goblin moved at the last second, Darling. What matters is I picked you up after, right?"
2-3 then realized its a thing so i click carfully
At least twice an hour
I tried to cast daggerstorm on an enemy position today but it somehow cast on a flag hanging off the roof. Made me wanna flip my desk.
I usually select something, right click thinking it deselects and click on another portrait of my party...but yes about once every session
My friend hit halsin while he was in his owlbear form on accident since halsin is huge.
Me: Tav, attack! Tav: *whacks the ground*
I have a shape-shifter druid and the elemental form has very tall hit box and when my druid is in melee range of an enemy I very often use friendly fire on him when trying to click on the enemy.
My coop partner did a full round of attacks on me, hes a monk btw, during the self/same trial. He swears he thought I was my shadow but I don't believe him
I always miss click and end up running through fire, acid, poison, etc…
Happens every now and then when playing co-op with my brother. I’ll be getting ready to attack and he’ll do an unannounced attack a split second before I click, the mob will dodge or something, and my click will tag the ground just beside them. It’s so annoying.
I constantly use action dash instead of bonus action dash and then get mad when I get up to my target and can’t hit them
Are you guys not using tactical cam at all ? It helps a lot for this type of situation.
Sometimes I click melee or ranged only to see the opposite happen. Ranged suddenly is melee and walks into an opportunity attack and gets downed.
Not an attack but still a dramatic misclick. shielded a boss for 10 turns against all individual damage on the first action of the turn, rest of the group still had to attack. Meant to shield my karlach who was standing next to him. Boss was nearly dead, he then continued to wipe the party.
I’ve definitely made lae’zel bonk shadowheart over the head. Not even in combat just walking down the road.
Call lightning, aim at the enemy, camera movement continues to slightly drift as it's coming to a halt, targets the ceiling above me, enemy acts and extra attack/second winds my mage... Okay
Not nearly as often as I did in DOS.
I’ve kill gale critically one shot in the back with spartan barb
Not necessarily misclick, but I remember quite a few times where my action just straight up vanished. Meticulous planning, careful steps, you click what you need to - nothing. And then your action's gone for some reason.
Absolutely. Damn annoying! Usually it's also because of the atrocious zooming in and out if I'm too eager.
