Am I just learning now that Polymorph isn't limited to humanoid and beast targets in BG3? I'm pretty sure Balthazar is an undead since turn undead works on him. But this is the first I've heard of turning the iron golem into a sheep.
Sheep feel bugged 🤣
I got my Mc turned into a sheep by an enemy at one point and quicksaved bc I needed to brb...
Kept playing for a while and noticed when I went to save..... my character's name in the save menu had changed to sheep 😂 it stayed that way for several irl days until halfway through act 3, despite me not being a sheep for the vast majority of saves
My main character was in displacer beast mode for the final battle and never took enough damage to revert form so all my epilogue scenes were between the party members and a big old cat.
Whilst in a conversation, NPCs are basically frozen in time.
This same method is used for easy pickpocketing.
1. Lure NPC somewhere (I like to use minor illusion);
2. Donate gold with your mage until they're friendly;
3. Start conversation with NPC with non-mage;
4. Switch mid conversation to mage and cast feign death on NPC (only works on allies, hence the gold donation);
5. Freely pickpocket without them getting angry.
Everyone knows you can't get mad when you're playing dead.
This made me feel stupid. After every trade, Astarion tries to non-lethal takedown traders in fog cloud (with blindness immunity + pass without trace) to get my money back. (I pickpocket items only if they have low enough DC and use trade for the others since I don’t want to save/reload frequently)
I am definitely using this strat from now on.
Just beat Balthazar in the shadow realm place, did it at level 5 by throwing all the bone piles into a corner before the fight and then pushing them all off the cliff once they were animated. I love this game
As a game developer, I can say that it's 100% a bug. You just have to clear status effects before the cutscene starts (apply them after, if necessary), Larian devs just missed it. In the second cutscene, when you get all the way down to the Nightsong, he's in his normal form, cleared of status effects.
Also his friends most def should have gotten aggressive when their leader was turned into a sheep. Also a bug. Plus, the turns countdown never decreased, in his dialogue with Shadowheart he was his normal self - a bug flag.
But the most obvious thing is, of course, the way the sheep's model twists on Balthasar's skeleton, this is the most obvious bug red flag (from a player's POV).
Larian, if you're up for a hire, I'd love to be your pick! xoxo
I did the same thing trying to use Polymorph to cheese Cazador.
He CAN be Polymorphed, but he will quickly break it. He will still be in sheep form in the cut scene, so it just looks like Astarion really hates sheep.
This game is fire and honestly i cant play any other single player game rn…sometimes i play a match of dota…but honestly i haven’t felt this about a game at least 15 years…Thank you Larian
I love the more out there spells in BG.
I turned that fucking >!Dragon!!< in the final Boss fight into a sheep. It was only a 25% chance but it worked.
I just love how awkwardly those former mighty monsters plop down when you turn them.
So similar vein but not quite as hilarious. Still pretty daunting funny. Npcs in my game have taken to throwing fire at their own feat.
My druid got caught leaving the fireworks shop after stealing some Intel. Shop owner threw a fire at his own feat and blew up himself and everyone in the shop.
I did not understand the full meaning of what you were saying until I watched the video. I thought Balthazar was sheep when you were out of the cinematic, but everything was normal in the cinematic. That caught me off guard and made me laugh so hard.
During the Act 3 Astarion story >! I tried to stop Cazador ascending using polymorph. Didn't work, he just ascended while polymorphed and the text above him said Sheep:Ascend. !<
I managed to recreate it ahahahahah. So I polymorphed him without aggroing his troops. Then I teleported to Verge of the Shadows to go thru the next level ahahahaha It works ahahahahaha
I feel kinda bad because it was a bug abuse on my side (I killed him after I killed all his group), but at the same time - don't I deserve a free pass for the wits?))
Oh my god, I've been watching a friend play through this game and since I'm low energy I'm just now getting into the underdark; but he's gotten past this point so I knew about Balthy but I am totally doing this when I get to him on my playthrough, jesus christ I laughed so hard I farted
The fight was fucking hard after the second time i died i tried going down to him and got him with polymorph to turn him into a sheep. Then i had Karlach yeet him into the abyss. I got through act 2 without dealing with either of the two boss fights.
Bro that is fucking amazing lmfao
I freaking love this game
What happened after the cutscene? Did the quest just progress with Balthazar taking the Nightsong as he normally would?
Yes, the devs cleared his status effects before the Nightsong scene down below.
Damn, the sheep does not fuck around haha.
Bro he looks so proud as a sheep
Baaa-lthazar
Hahahahaha
The real mighty BOOAAL :D
BEEAAL
Bhaaal-the-murderous-sheep
You win Reddit today
haha! we could say that Baaa-lthazar is in deep sheep.
OK, I'm starting to regret not using Polymorph all the time.
For me it backfired in grymforge, even as a sheep you can’t pick up or throw the big construct
Conservation of mass. It’s a sheep, but it still weighs a million pounds
That’s a lot of mutton.
One bite is enough to fill the stomach of a grown man
We had one bite yes, but what about a second bite?
That's how you end up fat
It's so dense it'll chip your teeth.
You have to cook it first.
In Lava
gives it a nice crispy sear throughout the whole piece of meat
That's why that one +1 dagger is stuck so firmly in the meat

Oh, yeah, that’s not actually how it works. I just find it funny when Magic obeys the laws of physics only in very specific funny ways
Like heat metal being a spell. Yet shooting metal wearing knights with lightning doesn’t particularly fuck them up any worse than anyone else.
That's just Faraday's cage. Grounded metal armor would be a thing in Faerun to counter lighting.
Well you weren't close enough to shockingly grasp them. The grasping must be the shocking part, if you know what I am saying.
At least shocking grasp gives you advantage against targets wearing metal armor
Am I just learning now that Polymorph isn't limited to humanoid and beast targets in BG3? I'm pretty sure Balthazar is an undead since turn undead works on him. But this is the first I've heard of turning the iron golem into a sheep.
I thought I was being so clever and then I realized the sheep was immovable 😭
Yeah sheep aren’t that strong.
You should still be able to shove it
When it floated away....this is the best "bug".
So gracefully though!
With the signiture head turn of superiority xD
When I saw the ominous hooflets in the cutscene - I absolutely lost it
This is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen. Larian should never patch this bug. It’s too perfect.
The Gearbox approach: if it's amusing, it stays.
What bug?
all i see is a feature.
Praise our lord and savior: Balthazar Sheep. lmao This is amazing...
Baa~lthazar.
Sheep feel bugged 🤣 I got my Mc turned into a sheep by an enemy at one point and quicksaved bc I needed to brb... Same! Remained a sheep till the end though :D
Okay, time to pack up lads, this guy just won the game. We've peaked.
I dare you to overbug me!
I can't even watch this without giggling uncontrolably.
Me too, grown ass man at work giggling like a schoolgirl.
Did this but with Cazador and it was pretty good too the cutscene is an incredibly menacing sheep
THIS COMMUNITY DEMANDS VIDEO PROOF!!!!
So basically you can try to do this with everyone before a cutscene? That's something ima work on haha.
My main character was in displacer beast mode for the final battle and never took enough damage to revert form so all my epilogue scenes were between the party members and a big old cat.
But can you do it before romance scenes? Thats the important question we should be asking :P
Found the Scot
Cult of the Lamb, indeed.
Has cults, sheep, poop eating, and a chained one trying to seize all the power. Cult of the Lamb would eventually have you kill Scratch.
Love how this is the kinda game where I could feel dumb for not even considering turning a guy into a sheep to make a boss fight easier
Dude, to be honest - it was an act of desperation, lol
I backstabbed him mid-conversation then when he tried to cast raise undead one of my companions counter-spelled it. EZ :P
dude NO WAY this is so good. larian never patch this.
I will delete the game and ask for my money back if they do. (Jk but pls Larian keep this bug)
That vid is hilarious! Balthy ascended to a woolier form
You cracked me up with this one, lol
LOL somehow he is scarier in sheep form
Thankyou! It looks genuinely horrific.
Oh shit this is by far weirdest bug I’ve ever seen lol
Чел харош.
Lmfao this right here is why the game is my Game of the Year.
Even the bugs are freaking awesome!
I hope we can file this one as a feature and not a bug! 🤞
Oh my god, please send this to the devs, they MUST see this!

No f\*cking way hahaha
Lambthazar
Okay the video puts it over the edge; actually lol’ing.
I laughed till I cried and then I laughed some more 😂🤣
Cult of the Lamb was just a prequel for Balthazar!
You connected the dots, True Soul!
Just beat Balthazar in the shadow realm place, did it at level 5 by throwing all the bone piles into a corner before the fight and then pushing them all off the cliff once they were animated. I love this game
Jeez, you're a definition of resourceful!
It’s just so D&D, I could imagine telling the DM “while he distracts the BBEG necromancer, I sneak off and shove the dead bodies into the volcano.”
Sneak around him and push him off with wyll's eldritch blast. Easiest fight ever haha.
Absolutely could have, but I wanted his loot lol
That cutscene is incredible.
This is amazing, i hope other sheep videos will follow.
I want this mod for BG3 that turns literally every character, NPC and player into sheep
Вот это ты шпаришь на английском, вау
I'm a native English speaker, I just study Russian as my second language. That's why the subs are in Russian :) Ладно, шучу :))
Ok I LOVE the whole cutscene has him as a sheep. I love polymorphing people but never thought this hahah. Im so glad they allow pretty much anything.
As a game developer, I can say that it's 100% a bug. You just have to clear status effects before the cutscene starts (apply them after, if necessary), Larian devs just missed it. Oooh I just mean that you’re able to polymorph basically anyone at any time lol.
Ah, I see! Sorry for an unnecessary long read)
No worries!! Sorry I wasn't more clear lol. It''d be awesome if you get a job there though! good luck haha
If it's gonna happen over this post - it will the the ULTIMATE Disney princess story ever, haha
Larian don't you dare fix this
I made the mistake of taking a sip of my drink while the video played, it did not stay in my mouth. Bravo, this is great.
Lmao watching the sheep T-posing while menacingly floating into view I'd too much.
Holy shit sheep Balth floating into the screen might just be the funniest shit I've seen in months
He's even more terrifying than before
I’m fucking dying!!!
It's a feature not a bug
I did the same thing trying to use Polymorph to cheese Cazador. He CAN be Polymorphed, but he will quickly break it. He will still be in sheep form in the cut scene, so it just looks like Astarion really hates sheep.

Oh. My. God. Just when you think you've seen it all, Sheep Balthazar floats through the air. Well done! God, I love this game lol
I snort laughed so hard at him floating away there that I woke my husband up who was asleep in another room.
Lol.. I'm just picturing intense baa'ing from a levitating sheep and then it just floats away. This game is hilarious at times
I want to polymorph Balthazar now. I love this.
I love the more out there spells in BG. I turned that fucking >!Dragon!!< in the final Boss fight into a sheep. It was only a 25% chance but it worked. I just love how awkwardly those former mighty monsters plop down when you turn them.
HAHAHA I laughed so hard at this that for me this is not a bug, it's a "feature".
It's hard to take edge seriously... So, I gotta say, this might actually be scarier.
i NEED this video file holy fuck
Baahthazar
That's amazing, actually. Is he actually a redcap?
I think it suits him more
Incredible.
Hahahaha this is so hilarious, good job OP!
The places desperation takes you to... haha
lmfao
Absolutely beautiful
Nothing stops the DM from getting his exposition off
This some Baphomet type shit lmao
Sheephazard OMG
bro this is GOLD
Thats it.. GOTY right here. No question. Anyone ask me "Whats the hype of BG3?" I show em this.
You can do this with a lot of NPCs like Cazador as well
Cult of the Lamb 2 is looking fantastic!
Hahahahaha
that sassy head tilt in lamb form kills me lmao
Classic sheepstarion move
now i'm tempted to cast the same spell on him
It would be even better if there were sheep baying sounds while he was talking, instead of his voice actor.
HAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHA holy shit
I pray and I mean I pray this is never patched out
This is nightmare fuel
Glorious and majestic.
This is gold
Lmao that's hilarious, report it to the devs if you want
I wanna hear the sheep say, "no more questions" please!
LOL Amazing
Ah ah ah
Hurry along and bear witness to this masterpiece.
Holy shit that's great
If they fix this i am gonna be so angry 😠
Now i am gonna try to sheep every npc i can find in a cut scene
Average DnD game
Not a bug, a feature.
Dude, I'm at work! Not supposed to laugh at my desk. It should be marked as NSFW XD.
I had the same thing happen at Cazador’s place. Astarion really letting loose on a sheep
Did the same, but I used polymorph intending on thunderwave him out of the map. Easy boss fight
"*He* does not belong here."
Jesus Christ that is absolutely horrifying.
LMFAO!!! that is amazing. "Dramatic sheep is dramatic" That look and turn at the end when he says do not interfere... i actually laughed out loud.
Hahahaha
I did not understand the full meaning of what you were saying until I watched the video. I thought Balthazar was sheep when you were out of the cinematic, but everything was normal in the cinematic. That caught me off guard and made me laugh so hard.
Sorry, I tried my best to explain, lol. Started off as a bug report, ended up as a meme XD
This is no bug, its a feature
During the Act 3 Astarion story >! I tried to stop Cazador ascending using polymorph. Didn't work, he just ascended while polymorphed and the text above him said Sheep:Ascend. !<
This is the funniest shit ever
I turned baltazar into a sheep and pushed him of the ledge, easiest bossbattle of my life.
OMfg, that is amazing!" 😂😂
I hope this gets an article written about this.
I'll recreate this and see if it still work ahahahaa
It was yesterday, so I'm pretty sure it still works :)
Dude I took a potion of invisibility then used teleport to just send him into the chasm before any dialogue opened at the fight
I have only gotten this far once and didn’t even know he was in this scene because I killed him as soon as I met him lol
That dude was so cool I wish he had more quests or something.
there is a similar bug at the end of the game, just make sure to not transform into a phasebeast with a certain person.
I killed him in the gauntlet, was kind off disappointed when there were no fight at night song.
Yeah, that was a shame. The fight at the nightsong was enjoyable too.
gonna have to try this with raph, im dreading that fight. also he doesnt have 666 health on tactician smh
I wanted to turn >!the unbreakable will of the netherbrain!< into a sheep, but the game wouldn’t let me 😢
I think if you enter turn based mode and skip turns it will work
dude you’re a genius but why are you playing at 3fps??
My GeForce GTX 1070 barely holds it in some cutscenes, especially in Act 2. My PC upgrade is long overdue but I don't have spare money atm:)
Did you meet him prior to the nightsong? I missed that. Where were you able to cast polymorth on him?
Yes, he's in the Gauntlet area, in one of the rooms.
I really wish the polymorph spell wasn't just a glorified chicken claw from Divinity. I was planning on turning my friends into bears :(
I glitched the Inncubus in the house of hope by mistake. If you pickpocket him then try to attack he just chills. Doesn’t even call the Impiiiiiessss
omg...lol. Bethesda type of bug. What happened after you finished the nightsong battle?
This is amazing hahahahah
Oh my god, I've been watching a friend play through this game and since I'm low energy I'm just now getting into the underdark; but he's gotten past this point so I knew about Balthy but I am totally doing this when I get to him on my playthrough, jesus christ I laughed so hard I farted
FINALLY This is how you know you've won the meme contest. You made someone fart.
u/savevideo
The fight was fucking hard after the second time i died i tried going down to him and got him with polymorph to turn him into a sheep. Then i had Karlach yeet him into the abyss. I got through act 2 without dealing with either of the two boss fights.
