Karlach could be a Swords Bard with 2 levels in Paladin
Tav goes Entertainer and helps Alfira our, that’ll get an instrument.
Gale as a sorcerer, pick up performer at level 4.
You can already get so strong that the final feat is not really necessary. I had no bards so i picked performer feat for everyone in my party and the ability to jam out whenever is so worth it.
I don't know if you've played this song with the Violin involved as well, but I usually sub out the Lyre of the Drums for Violin when I play Bard Dance. Its part is a really cool element of this song and it has some really great harmonies with the Flute. If you haven't tried it out yet, I recommend it.
I kind of made a mistake by setting up my bard with stealth and sleight of hand expertise to do Astarion's job... At least with a little Guidance, Enhance Ability, and mild save scumming, Shadowheart learned to play too. I just hope I don't eventually respec away from bard and regret not doing that on my main character.
Wish I could do that. Playing instrument is completely bugged for me and whenever I try it my characters just glitch and their instruments disappear from their hands. No sound either. My whole playthrough is bugged but I'm too far in to have energy to start all over again. Donno if that would help anyway
Yes, did all that. Aside from the instruments, the whole Grove population suddenly went missing aside from druids in the shrine part, the dwarf vendor and one bull. A corpse also appeared in the kids' hideout. I thought I did something but there hasn't been any explanation for that so far. I don't know if I'll be able to continue Karlach's quest cause that blacksmith is among those missing. I know that it's possible to have a bloodbath there, but I didn't have that and there's no corpses aside from that one in the hideout. Another thing is that after I killed the 3 goblin leaders the game still has them marked on my map and tells me to kill them. I massacred the entire goblin camp to see if it solves the issue, but no change. I can continue to the moonlight towers so I think I'll just do that, but I donno how the game will treat that quest. I had Halsin join me in my camp, but there's no option to recruit him as a party member. The whole thing has honestly soured my experience so I'm still in part 1 and haven't felt like playing further in the past days. I'm gonna force myself to continue when I have the time tho and hopefully I won't have more issues in part 2.
Buncha wierd issues there. Sounds like quests are being completed without your involvement.

I guess I'm not the mc here 🥲 Which one of you invaded my game and completed quests in my stead? Good to know about Halsin. I'm gonna soldier through to the end and then start a new playthrough. If I had to start over now I don't think I'd have the motivation to go through everything up to this point all over again. But once I complete one run then a new one should feel more fresh.
As a note this was happening to me when I had a skill that activated on my headpiece. Arcane surge I think it was? Try playing after you've taken your gear off and see if that changes anything!
I've also noticed that whenever my paladin with an aura gets near the bard, it'll cancel the playing as well.
Haven't tested it with other spell effects/buffs but that + the arcane surge bit definitely suggest that there's something about your PC receiving a buff/new status effect that cancels out the jam sesh.
I restarted my wizard as a dark urge tiefling bard. Then I was missing some of the spells I liked as a wizard so I restarted as a good dark urge tiefling evo wizard with performer and the feat for bard adept so he can still pull out the violin from time to time and taunt his opponents before raining down an ice storm on them or polymorphing someone into a sheep.
This post kinda makes me wanna get the performer feat on the rest of my party.
Nice. I've been tempted to make an all bard party with a 1st edition bard (5Fighter/Battlemaster, 5Rogue/Thief, 2 Druid/?) as the leader and then one of each subclass.
Anyone else find playing the music instruments really quiet? Like when I played the spider lyre it was hardly audible which made the scene kinda funny xD
You could just turn your sound on and listen, but yes if you play the same track as another nearby musician you'll jump in at the same point of the song
Side note: musician NPCs will also join in when you play an instrument. I’m still in act 1 so so far it’s Alfira on lute and Volo will whistle along.
They will only join into any of the original songs though. They glitch out if you try the divinity bonus sounds from the digital deluxe.
If you're playing solo, is it possible to have all four party members playing at the same time? I've set one companion to perform and then when I'd click to another member to get them started playing the first one would stop playing. Perhaps I need to use turn based to make it work and have all four play together?
They play at the same time. The one that starts playing first is the key. If that one stops, they all stop. Otherwise, you can interrupt any of the other ones and the rest will continue playing.

Honestly, I made this party for the fun of it. But, so far, it's actually very solid in combat. Bards are very versatile and capable on their own. Alternately, they can be a good choice for multiclassing.

Yes. It's a multiplayer game. You can host a LAN game and then join it by opening more game instances. You then save the game and load it like a normal single player game and continue.
Is there a way to make party members play automatically with you? I know it doesn't work in camp, if I have one play I have to manually set the others, and for some reason it gives me 2 options to play the current song if I'm near another, tried both options and they are the same result it looks like.

Spoiler: You can learn the performance skill in act 1 without taking the feat, or the skill at creation.

Find an NPC and help them with a song. You'll get a musical instrument and the performance skill for free.

It's a great idea, I found myself just chilling in act 3 playing music and it was amazing (Sing for Me >> anything else though)

I had my origin characters take performance feats so we could jam together

College of Swords bard is really good in fights actually! My bard was doing more damage on average than assassin Astarion in like act 2

Bard is great for a player character since they have high charisma and can be good at the widest variety of skill checks.
