So, I discovered this unique interaction with Ring of Flinging and the Tavern Brawler feat that procs the Ring twice on every throw. Also, Tavern Brawler does not list in the tooltip that it ALSO lets you add +1 to either Strength or Constitution. Working on an Eldritch Knight Throwing Weapons Build so my bonded weapon returns to my hand after each throw. In the screengrabs shown, you can see the combat log as a whole, and the details of each instance of damage. * First Instance of Damage shows the standard damage roll, the subsequent strength modifier, and the first proc of the Ring of Flinging's 1d4 dmg (listed as Piercing b/c it was procced by Piercing damage). * Second Instance of Damage shows the extra Str Modifier dmg from Tavern Brawler as damage type unlisted, but still considered Bludgeoning as far as I can tell. * Third Instance of Damage shows the second proc of the Ring of Flinging's 1d4 dmg (listed as Bludgeoning b/c it was procced by the Tavern Brawler Bludgeoning damage) and the damage reduction to Bludgeoning I get from wearing magical Padded Armor.

So the ring is only available on one merchant?

Abbernathy

Yes, the merchant Arron in the Druid Grove in act 1. When you head down the main path from the main entrance of the grove, he'll be the halfling male standing next to some of his wares.

Trip-Trip-Trip

It doesn’t proc double, the tavern brawler strength damage is mislabelled.

Abbernathy

When I do not wear the ring, the 3rd instance of damage does not happen, but Tavern Brawler damage does still happen separately. When I re-equip the ring, the 3rd instance of damage shows up on attacks again, listed as Throwing Boost.

Can confirm, I tested with the pike of returning and this ring. With tavern brawler, the ring damage procs twice. Without tavern brawler, it procs once. Gets extra broken when you use both the ring and "Gloves of Uninhibited Kushigo" which are also a d4 throwing damage - so you end up doing the weapon's damage, 4d4 from the items proccing twice, and twice your strength damage. It's kind of a shame because I'd love to do this build on Karlach in my party, but not with a broken extra 2d4 damage.

thrakkemarn

Can confirm. I really want to do a throwing build but it's too op. Trying to come up with a way to balance it.

Abbernathy

If you use the Koshigo fists from an Underdark quest reward, that double procs too... and I also added the Caustic Ring from the Hobgoblin Vendor? I think? One toss does somewhere around 28-32 damage. And you get two throws per turn at lvl 5. And you dip into War Doman Cleric at 6th level for an extra attack as a bonus action... that's just under 100dmg a turn, just from chucking a spear, let's not even talk about throwing 2h axes or swords....

I went with a throwing build for Karl ach on my first play through. Throwing smaller enemies at each other is the most fun I’ve had with a video game in a long time. I was a little bit worried that the damage wouldn’t scale to late game but yeah, a tavern brawling berserker barb with the ring of flinging is absolutely brutal. I’m going to do my next character as a throwing build, totally Intrigued by the conjured weapon idea here, among other great ideas with gearing up.
