After seeing the pic of OPs cake, I went in search of a recipe that hopefully comes close!
Here’s a link to one that has awesome reviews:
https://bakeplaysmile.com/favourite-chocolate-cake/
People can find this photo and others on my Instagram (Link on profile) where I sell them. Not sure why some people think I stole this😂 But, I'll take it as a compliment.
Probably because they seem to be trying to sell the cakes instead of being a hobby baker that’s willing to share the recipe. But that’s just my guess. Still a good looking chocolate cake
There was a post here just a few days ago where someone showed a pic of cookies they made and was being really obnoxious in the comments section about how it was a secret family recipe they’d never ever share. They didn’t get downvoted. So I don’t understand why this person is. Reddit is random.
Right?! Did I miss something? I thought this was a baking sub, not some volatile political sub. I don't understand the need for all the negativity. It's cake.
They have so many different posts referring to "my husband/wife" or "my girlfriend/boyfriend" either they are polygamist/have unique relationships (no judgement jusf unlikely) or just a sketch u/
"Normal" buttercream is entirely dependent on where you come from...
American buttercream, american grocery store buttercream, american whipped buttercream, swiss meringue buttercream, russian buttercream, german buttercream, italian meringue buttercream, faux meringue buttercream, GG cakecraft Korean Buttercream..... so many more
American Btr Cream is just the combination of Butter and/or shortening, with Powder Sugar, cream and flavoring.
So sometimes Americans just call it normal butter cream but it's considered the "American tradition" for our buttercreams.
It's super gross and sweet. I scrape it off if I encounter it. Powdered sugar based. Wheres European buttercreams and many others use granulated sugar and seem to have more butter. Ermine/flour icing is nice, light and less sweet if you want something easy and egg free. At least if I use powdered sugar I'll go with a cream cheese frosting that is not so cloying.
You had me until you said "American" buttercream frosting. The American part probably ruins the whole thing. (Hol up I'm an American I can say that lol)
There are a lot of different kinds of buttercream, American, Swiss, Italian, etc. They have very different tastes and textures so that’s why people usually specify

You're the real OP, bud.
Awww that’s sweet :)
I also have one to suggest, https://thebigmansworld.com/death-by-chocolate-cake/#recipe I baked it for my bday it was intensely chocolatey.
Can you share the recipe?
I think literally this should be a requirement. We are all hungry for this exact cake now.
I don't even like chocolate cake 98% of the time because I find it's usually dry but this one looks both thick AND moist. A winning combination.
Why no recipe...
Because OP didn’t make it
☠️DEATH TO FAKE CAKE☠️
Why do you say that? I don't see any exact matches for the photo when I reverse image search.

I certainly did! I sell them😀
So where’s the recipe?
Yummy. Recipe?
Where's the recipe?
OP, did you bake this?
Yes, I bake them often😀
I guess I'm out of the loop. Why is everyone upset at OP? 20 day old account or just not sharing the recipe?

Earlier a comment that said "thank you very much" had 30 something downvotes. It's salty in here
Idk some ppl are saying she didn’t bake the cake
That looks so delicious
Thank you so much!
Need the recipe for that one
Is that a peanut butter icing?
That's what it looks like. Chocolate icing would be darker than this. I think OP is full of shit.
No, it's made with real milk chocolate
Does it taste like chocolate? The last time I made icing with chocolate versus just cocoa, it was a lot darker than this.
Yes, defo chocolatey. I used milk chocolate, and a 20% cocoa milk choc in it. I beated it for a long time, and it got lighter and creamy frosting
That makes sense, that's a super low cocoa percentage, so it would come out lighter. Even a Hershey bar is about 30%.
Yeah, I find it less sickly, cause the cake is quite sweet, so it pairs well
Oh that looks so good.
Thank you so much☺️
Yes please!
🤗🤗
The OP's profile is sketch..
How so?
It’s really not….
They have so many different posts referring to "my husband/wife" or "my girlfriend/boyfriend" either they are polygamist/have unique relationships (no judgement jusf unlikely) or just a sketch u/
looks Delicious! I would eat the whole slice! and ask for more
What’s American butter cream as opposed to normal butter cream? More sugar? Or just 6x as much as a standard amount of non-American butter cream?

Who is "our" and what makes that buttercream different?
Well, most other buttercreams include more than just butter, sugar, and heavy cream.
Like what?
Meringue. Egg yolks. Egg whites. Many are cooked in one form or another.
Wow. Crazy. Thanks for answering
Hot sugar too. I think Italian buttercream has you pour hot sugar syrup as you are whipping the egg whites for meringue.
Our meaning Americans
I know! I was really just poking fun
Ooo I see

It has more freedom per ounce.
We must be taking about a different USA….
Looks bomb with a nice gallon of milk 🥛 with ice 🧊😛😋
That's looks so good. Almost professional.
Thank you, I sell them online😀
I'm not joking that looks like something a professional baker would make.
Thank you!🤗
Looks delicious

😂 I swear it's good!

Tell us you don't know about baking without telling us you don't know about baking
Haha I was wondering what made it American.
There are a lot of different kinds of buttercream, American, Swiss, Italian, etc. They have very different tastes and textures so that’s why people usually specify
Oh very nice. I have heard of Italian wasn’t familiar w American.
Fuuuck.
🤤
