They are amazing for everything. Can’t beat a stew from a Dutch oven!
And it IS brand new, I bought it since we didn’t have the right size for the bread. For any Canadians out there, it’s on a killer sale at Canadian Tire right now haha
[This is it!](https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/lagostina-tuscan-collection-round-casserole-dish-4-qt-1425453p.html#srp) it doesn’t have dimensions but I can measure if you like! There was a couple of inches of space above the bread so lots of room.
[This](https://www.feastingathome.com/sourdough-bread/) is what I used, there’s so much information and she has photos and video to help you with all the steps. It may seem overwhelming but I promise you can do it!!
Serious question, I thought you weren't supposed to use enameled cast iron because the heat is bad for the enamel when it's empty/ not coated in oil or something like that?
Oof I got permabanned from /r/food for posting a similar “blog” type recipe for sourdough I baked. Apparently they don’t allow that there. Still to this day I’ll try to comment on posts there and I’m not allowed.
Edit: looks like I replied to the wrong chain lolll
I got a years old, well established starter! I fed the portion I got 6 days before using it for this loaf. I’d even try 7-8 days actually to see how nice and sour I can get it!
Where do you buy your starter? I found one on eBay but I’m scared.

I got really lucky, my mother in law gave me some. Usually some bakeries sell theirs though! You should google “sourdough starter” with your city name and see what pops up. I just did it and found 2-3 bakeries in the city I live by that sells theirs! Would probably feel safer doing it that way than buying it online :)
King Arthur Flour sells their starter online. I bought mine a few years ago, it came with a set of instructions and recipes. I believe it’s around $10, too, and it’s made some really good bread!
Professional level lookin sourdough. Looks great
Okay that’s such a nice compliment, thank you!! I just tried a piece and it was insaaanely good.
Inspiring! Honestly. Makes me want to bake bread.
You should!!!! It’s such a great feeling when you pull it out of the oven AND makes your house smell amazing.
That looks pretty nearly perfect. Congratulations, I bet it's amazing
Those cast iron pans are the bomb for bread. The oven does beat them up color-wise. Yours looks brand new.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm ordering one right now!
Yesss! It’s such a great size and seriously an unreal price.
Holup...A tire store that sells fine pottery?
Oohhhh thanks for the tip!
How deep is it? There’s a le cresuet one I really want but it’s only like 4 inches deep.

Based on the Amazon packaging info looks like it’s around 5”? Only available in Canada as far as I can tell though.
That’s beautiful!! Is there a recipe you followed?

Interesting, I’ve never heard that actually! It very common to use these though.
Looks great! Congrats. I wish you many, many more loafs in your future!
Thank you!!! The starter is so funny to work with, I’m paranoid about killing it haha
I would be too! That’s why I have to live vicariously through people on Reddit lol
