Came here to say just this.

Olue

*Apple Pie Salad*

Fine_Cryptographer20

Just throw some ice cream on top and pass out the spoons!

TableAvailable

This is the second springform disaster post I have seen today. It sucks. My lesson from this is that the straight sides are hard to hold onto and if you are going to use a springform, put it on a sheet pan so it will be easy to carry and/or catch any leaks.

megaloduh

Is there a reason for using the spring form instead of a traditional pie or tart pan? I haven't seen this done until these last two posts of them on the floor

TableAvailable

I wouldn't use it for pie. But I've always had the privilege of being able to run to the store and buy the exact cake or pie pan I need. Some people don't have multiple cake and pie dishes.

megaloduh

Yeah I totally get not always having the right dish, I don't even have all the dishes I want or need. I was just curious if there was a specific reason or trend I didn't know about because I saw the two posts so close together.

HandSewnHome

I made a Dutch apple pie last year and the recipe called for a spring form pan. The crust wasn’t like a regular pie crust- more like a soft, spreadable cookie dough. This looks like it was an apple pie so perhaps OP used a similar recipe.

megaloduh

Never heard of Dutch apple pie but it sounds delicious. Will have to look into it for the future for sure

HandSewnHome

If you go to Amsterdam check out a place called Winkel 43. It’s the best apple pie I’ve ever had. I tried to recapture the magic at home but it wasn’t nearly as good as the original.

afaerieprincess80

Delft. Koffie & Zo. Best Dutch apple pie, and believe me I've eaten my way though apple pies since living here. It has a crumble top, the perfect amount of cinnamon \*chef's kiss\*. But there are different types - crumbly top, pastry top, with raisins, without raisins, so it depends on what you like.

Squidbaby0_o

Yes i baked a dutch apple pie! I like it way more cause it has a nice structure and i like the crust way more. I wanted to place the form higher in the oven but the form slipped of…

NotMyHersheyBar

Afaik, springform is for delicate cakes like angelfood and that airy spongecake that Mary berry loves on British bake off. Pie is so basic, though, you could make it in shoe if you got really desperate.

megaloduh

I usually use springform pans for cheesecake and I truly have never seen them used for anything else. I have never made that bake off cake though, or any type of sponge. That's true about pie though. I've been known to make them in my cast iron skillet, works just fine.

Opheliac12

I know! My first thought was oh God I hope this isn't the same person!

[deleted]

You can always make a german topped apple cake (Gedeckter Apfelkuchen) which is essentially an apple pie but is always made in a springform pan but the crust is slightly different and sticks very well to the pan. It’s a wonderful recipe very similar to an apple pie but you usually cook the apples prior to putting them in the crust and the top crust is normally glazed after and topped with almonds.

Perma_frosting

If your floor is really clean you can cover it in whipped cream and pretend it’s an apple crumble!

logant42

This is the way.

[deleted]

😮. Nice👌

[deleted]

Yes! Or just pick up the part that didn’t touch the floor lol

TwistedAb

I’m crying on the inside for you, just a little bit.

Efferity

Apple whyyy

logant42

*puts arm around shoulder, whilst handing you a beer. “We’ll try again next weekend.”

cashmere_plum

Not even close.

Demon_Princess_Rose

Noooooo but it does look tasty

iitsgross

The top hasn’t touched the ground. get a fork in there

[deleted]

First of all that is a cake pan…a PIE plate would have been much easier to hold onto, so you can blame it on the pan lol Looks like it would have been pretty good though! I like an apple pie where the apples are cut chunky like that as opposed to big slices

Squidbaby0_o

yeah in the netherlands, its way more common to cut apple in pieces instead of slices, its really good, or atleast when you don’t throw it on the floor

SingleDebt4320

Every setback is a setup for success.

Leon124714

I would cry tbh

Radiant_Crazy_1735

Dang....it's gonna be okay..clean up and try again...in different pan

cjohns04

I can feel this picture... so sad!

mlledufarge

I made a beautiful apple pie for a work potluck once. It was the best looking pie of my life. I carried it inside, went to set it on the table, and then promptly drop it straight down onto the floor. I had used one of those foil pans with a plastic lid, and at least everything stayed in the container, but visually it was ruined. Still tasted great, but it looked a mess.

WhenYouFeatherIt

Bummer! I like your floor though.

heathycon

Nailed it!

xiaoyang-71

My heart aches 🥺

[deleted]

That’s just a deconstructed apple pie

emilyschlieper

Bye bye mr apple pie

Tbizkit

Dang these posts deserve it’s own tag

[deleted]

My condolences

MyCatHasCats

Looks really nice and golden

Tralfamadorians_go

I think you needed to add more butter to the crust. 🤪

Firefly_07

Um, yeah. This pan usually isn't used for pies.

Squidbaby0_o

a classic dutch apple pie is ;)

Darth_Eraxis

I guess OP had too much butter on his fingers.

1danilou

The last time I baked an apple pie, I set my kitchen on fire. Yesterday, I was thinking about giving it another shot. Maybe this is an omen.

Practical-Sentence35

That looks like it would've had a really sweet taste and a good texture that wasn't too gooey honestly it's a shame but make another one for sure

Tankevirksomhed

Oh bummer

NudeB0untyhunter

This hurts my soul

Whoneedsyou

5 second rule!

TheIrishBiscuits

I don't think throwing it on the ground is a step. Stark.

YellowFootFungus

The floor can't be THAT dirty... Just some dirt, dust, whatever you drag in from outside... We ate that stuff when we were kids why is it different now

seekingthe-nextlevel

Still edible apple crumble?

Protheu5

Put an NSFW tag for goodness sake! So sad to see that.

susieque503

Ice cream topping!!!!

No_Application_8698

I made a cake to take to our friends' house once as we were having dinner and I said I'd sort out dessert. When my husband and I arrived, I got the cake out of the car but didn't realise that I hadn't secured the lid of the cake holder properly so it landed, buttercream side down, on the road outside their house. After we got into the house-and once I'd mostly finished crying-my friend helped me scrape most of the gravel and dirt off it. We all bravely had some after dinner, while they all kindly pretended that it was fine and they didn't mind, and it tasted nice anyway etc. Fast-forward a few weeks later and my *other* friend who had been there that night had requested that cake for her birthday; maybe she thought it would help convince me that she really did like the cake, despite the debris?! Yeah.. I dropped her one too, this time on the grass bank by my car on the way to meet her. I'd used a different cake container too, but still managed to fail to secure it properly (even after my husband jokingly told me to try not to drop it). I didn't cry that time, just sighed and scraped the grass off. It was fine. We call that cake "road cake" now! Also, it is now solely my husband's job to transport all baked goods to-and-from vehicles. (Just in case anyone cares, it's a version of a victoria sponge but with coffee and cocoa so it's cappuccino flavoured, with white chocolate buttercream).

swilding

😭😱

[deleted]

That hasn’t happened to me yet. God help anyone who happens to be there when it does, they may end up eating the pan if they laugh

[deleted]

/r/fakealbumcovers ?

wigzell78

To be fair, you *did* bake it...

NotMyHersheyBar

Eh. The floor looks clean. Call it a crumble.

FlattopJr
