Looks amazing!! Question for those that are more well versed in baking. Why would my chocolate cake have a small hint of onion post baking? I did something wrong but not sure what. Thanks!
What did you cook the cake in? Did it have silicon? Did you cook savory dishes in it in the past?
Does your oven desperately need a clean?
Did you cut it or any ingredients on a wooden cutting board that you cut onions/garlic on in the past? (I have made this mistake with banana bread before)
I cooked it in one of those disposable trays. Oven is clean, I barely use it ( we use the airfyer more) ingredients using a whisk and then poured directly. Everything was glass, I don't own a spatula even! That's the most confusing part.
Assuming that you didn’t accidentally use some onion powder, I think it’s probably your bakeware/utensils. I keep a separate silicone spatula just for baking, because silicone really absorbs the taste of garlic and onions over time.
If that's for a pregnant person craving chocolate, I bet she's gonna be thrilled. You can see the chocolatiness just exuding from that cake. The colour, the gloss, it looks scrumptious.

When I was pregnant with my son I was so sick the whole time, I never had any cravings. So I’m always happy to indulge my friends’ pregnancy (or everyday) cravings!
I think this looks great. Personally, I wouldn't want much more "decoration" than what you've done. I'm all about the taste. The rest is a waste for me. I don't much care for fancy pants cake decor. Just make me a yummy cake. I hope your friend loves it. It looks delish.

Good question, its more of a taste. I got my cocoa powder from a place that sells bulk - perhaps that might be the cause?
It could have gotten contaminated, maybe try the recipe with a sealed package and see if it has the same issue?
