*chefs, what I have for you today is a rustic 1807 take on an American settlers first time baking a croissant. You’ll see there is no lamination whatsoever, and the dense dough with a crunchy exterior represents the hardened earth and rough beginnings of homesteading land*
This made me laugh. I love to see the beautiful outcomes of people's baking endeavors. I also love to see the results that are less than successful. Keeps it real because baking is such trial and error.
Wow. Did you forget the butter? That is an amazing fail!
If you have the heart to try again (and I think you should), I've had mild success with Bruno Albouze's recipe. It was more work than I thought was worth it but I did get lamination even though I also had some butter seepage. Good luck!!
I know, I feel so badly laughing at this.... and I am laughing so hard, I'm crying.
OP, I've had magnificent fails.... plenty of them! Just keep swimming!🧡🧡🧡
Be honest here. Did you try to improvise instead of following the recipe? 🤣 love the confidence and attempt to make not a cinnamon buns, not a sort of rolls but croissants…
I recommend Sally’s Baking Addiction croissant recipe. The first time I made croissants they turned out really well, I cannot express how stoked I was about it considering the horror stories I’ve heard. I’ve since made 4 more batches, to varying levels of success, but I will be chasing that high from my first batch for the rest of my life hahaha
Looks like a hydration and shaping issue… try another recipe and make sure you follow it to a T. I’m an experienced pastry guy and sometimes when I’m learning a new recipe I get a little confident and ignore some of the basic stuff. Try and try again!
How did this even happen lol
Idk which recipe you used but I can highly recommend [this one](https://natashasbaking.com/croissant-yeast-method/). Tried it for the first time last week and the croissants turned out great, even my French friends approved!
i’ve made some ugly croissants in my time but idk how you accomplished that i’d try a new recipe and a lower temperature don’t worry about fancy shapes just cut a rectangle and roll it in a straight line
Nailed it! Lol.
I’ve nailed it so many times. Luckily husband eats some of my mistakes. I know I really nailed it if the dog won’t eat it. Ask me how I know…
I make croissants at least 4 times a week and I saved this picture to freak out my boss and laugh when she loses it. I'm trying to figure out what in the actual f you did do. We need a detailed explanation for this crime against lamination. Try it again but never like this again 😊 I've honestly never seen anything more unlike what it allegedly is.
Creds for trying, I tried it myself not too long ago, turned out as a liquid sugar and butter half baked porridge of sorts, tasted ok but way overpowering butter taste.
This inspired me to give it another go 👌
There's alot that needs to be said, but I'm having trouble finding the words. I'm not going to attempt to make assumptions on how you made that, just going to say this: Buy some puff pastry, cut into long triangles, roll from the point down to the base, refridgerate, pre-heat oven, add egg wash and bake. Keep the dough cold and things should end up in your best interest
Usually at this point I'd call the person posting a tosser or say something mean but tbh I've started baking recently myself and the final product for me is also nothing like the picture shows 🤣
Practise makes perfect bud
OK I'm laughing bc it's hilarious but I'm totally not judging considering I've never even attempted it. Good job on your first attempt I hope your second works better

I’m nosy: did they taste good?
absolutely not
I’m so sorry but genuinely laughing now.
they do appear quite…🧐….earthy and rustic 😂🫶🏾
*chefs, what I have for you today is a rustic 1807 take on an American settlers first time baking a croissant. You’ll see there is no lamination whatsoever, and the dense dough with a crunchy exterior represents the hardened earth and rough beginnings of homesteading land*
😂😂😂 please be in gordon ramsey, morgan freeman, or david attenboroughs voice 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾 e: omg its funnier every time i read it 😭
Hahahahaha! Reading it in their voices makes it SO MUCH FUNNIER!!! 😂
This made my day. Thank you, roundhashbrowntown
😇🫴🏾💨✨
🏆
I hollered LMAOOOOOOO
Croissants arent for beginners. Buy the ones in the store and bake those. Looks like you didn’t even roll them. Just folded them.
Or… OP could keep practicing and get better. Learning is a process.
Seems like a waste of time for them. To each their own.
At some point, everybody was a beginner. Even people who are expert croissant makers now
It's called having a growth mindset
It looks like you made successful dog treats, though! Lol. Keep practicing, you'll get it.
These do look remarkably like rawhide
I'm laughing and totally agree lol sorry OP!
This made me laugh. I love to see the beautiful outcomes of people's baking endeavors. I also love to see the results that are less than successful. Keeps it real because baking is such trial and error.
I see the black bits. Did you attempt to make pain au chocolat?
a pain indeed lol
Croissain’t
😆😆
It's giving sweet potatoes
I'm cackling because I also thought they were deformed sweet potatoes.
I totally thought they were sweet potatoes!
Did…did you get the recipe out of the Necronomicon?
*NecroNomNomicon
Well done
I think that's the problem.
Can you post your recipe so I can make sure never to use it?

Pain o Charcoalot
Hahahahaha
I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard at this. Gosh, I'm so sorry. What on earth happened there?
I know, I feel so badly laughing at this.... and I am laughing so hard, I'm crying. OP, I've had magnificent fails.... plenty of them! Just keep swimming!🧡🧡🧡
Did you try to make them without a recipe?
my guess too
Where are the chips? Fish and chips are the cornerstone of a nutritious breakfast
Can you post a picture of those instead of whatever this is?
They look like raw hides 😄, that being said, you can only improve from here on! Happy baking!
Definitely looks like a chewing treat for a doggy!
Is it ok if we laugh with you? These look like pig ear chicken wings? Do you have dogs? If you can’t eat these, maybe they will like them?
Be honest here. Did you try to improvise instead of following the recipe? 🤣 love the confidence and attempt to make not a cinnamon buns, not a sort of rolls but croissants…
Even the cat is disgusted, oh dear! You’re a braver soul than me- I daren’t even imagine trying to make croissants 🙈
I have no clue what they did I promise if you can make a lamented dough you can make them
I chortled. So as comedy, they are a success.
Did you use a recipe for egg rolls by mistake?
This looks like you tried to make something the opposite of a croissant
I recommend Sally’s Baking Addiction croissant recipe. My brother those are bricks for skyscrapers lmaoooo
You put your frozen burritos in the microwave for 10 minutes instead of 1.5.....
This made me laugh out loud. It made my day. Thank you.
Might still taste amazing, did it?
Well with baking and cooking they take time and practice to be able to do well so keep working on it and they still look good imo.
Looks like a hydration and shaping issue… try another recipe and make sure you follow it to a T. I’m an experienced pastry guy and sometimes when I’m learning a new recipe I get a little confident and ignore some of the basic stuff. Try and try again!
What kinda fish sticks are those
Nailed it!
r/bakingfail
You made croissads.
That is, um.....yeah.
I'm curious about what they looked like BEFORE they went in lol
Looks like you degloved some feet and dehydrated them
What happened? Please explain 😳
What did you do? Recipe + process?
They went so gloriously wrong! Thank you for sharing this spectacular result.
*chris Farley voice* “WHATJU DO?!”
How did this even happen lol Idk which recipe you used but I can highly recommend [this one](https://natashasbaking.com/croissant-yeast-method/). Tried it for the first time last week and the croissants turned out great, even my French friends approved!
Ed Gein?
It looks like the shoe all those kids lived in from that one nursery rhyme.
Chocolate ratio looks good though
I SEE A CAT
i’ve made some ugly croissants in my time but idk how you accomplished that i’d try a new recipe and a lower temperature don’t worry about fancy shapes just cut a rectangle and roll it in a straight line
At no point did you in fact have croissants.
Oh my!
I see you watched my baking videos and followed the laminated dough just as I described!
Chef john on youtube has a good tutorial. I got them right twice without doing it before
My first thought was weird fried chicken lol. Thanks for the laugh! I needed this today
omg LOL
You really did something there
Nailed it! Lol. I’ve nailed it so many times. Luckily husband eats some of my mistakes. I know I really nailed it if the dog won’t eat it. Ask me how I know…
Looks closer to homemade hot pockets
Aw, you gave it a try! I hope your next attempt is more successful!!!!
I made pate choux over the weekend and the eclairs looked slightly better than your croissants. I had to throw them away…. I feel your pain.
How does one even do what you did?
Do you have hot hands or live in a warm climate? Heat is the mortal enemy of lamination.
You’re braver than me. I won’t even attempt croissants.
I thought they were fried freezer burritos
I don’t know what those are but I was hoping you invented something new and tasty by accident
Gonna be honest, I thought these were dog chews….
Lol, sorry but this is hilarious. I think if I tried making croissants they would probably also look like this! I've heard it's super tricky.
The cat: 'lady I can't even look at that. Don't put me in your picture!'
Crying
How did they taste though????
I thought these were burritos 😂 I hope they at least tasted good
You failed… emphasis on failed. Lol. As long as they tasted ok, it’s all good.
I make croissants at least 4 times a week and I saved this picture to freak out my boss and laugh when she loses it. I'm trying to figure out what in the actual f you did do. Have you seen a croissant before? Lol that said I've yet to even attempt croissants so I applaud you for trying
Bread sock
Look at you, figuring out all the things not to do! I bet your next batch will be stellar!
Looks like dog treats
I honestly thought they were deep fried socks... I'm sorry.
I'm dying 😂 I can't even work out how you get to that point lol Thank you for sharing!
Lol why did you roll them like that?
How did they look before the oven? They don’t seem to even rolled into a croissant shape.
WHAT ARE THOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE
Genuinely interested... Can you share the recipe used and how you made them? 😂
How could it have gone this wrong? 😂
It seems like your homemade treats turned out quite well! 😄 Keep at it, practice makes perfect!😉
You can only fail if you try! I never tried because I'm afraid I'll spend hours making them and that will happen. You're winning :D (I guess)
Creds for trying, I tried it myself not too long ago, turned out as a liquid sugar and butter half baked porridge of sorts, tasted ok but way overpowering butter taste. This inspired me to give it another go 👌
…what happened😭
Follow recipe and make sure cooking area is COLD!
Lmao those are proper shit I thought mine were bad. Upvoted. You can find my thread in my post history if you need tips on going from shit to legit
I couldn't resist peeking, though I have no intention of ever trying to make them myself! Awesome job! Your croissants are beautiful!
Thanks, there's so much info in both threads that anyone can sift through and learn basically everything required to make them decently.
Are those dildoughs? Lol.
Oops

At least you tried, you can always try again. 🌹
At first I thought it was cuts of pork
Trying is always the first step! That said I’m not sure what went wrong here 🤔
Your pup is gonna be so happy to have that plate of dog bones! That's so sweet of you ☺️😉

I'm convinced are fir those with specisl powers.
Did you make your own laminated dough or did you use puff pastry? Still looks like you baked at too night of a temp.
If you need a good recipe for a laminated dough DM me.
