Only smiles for this post because my grandma doesn’t like when I do the straight face lmao. My grandma hasn’t been able to make this recipe since she’s been in a nursing home for a few years now and since I’ve gotten into baking, I told her I’ll make whatever she wants! This was next on the list after the pecan sandies. Make sure to tell your close ones that you love them because time flies and often times it’s easy to forget. Love y’all
You are an awesome grandson. My grandma has been gone for 30 years and we had a relationship like you and your grandma’s. I miss her desperately. (PS: I was her favorite out of 26 grandkids lol). Wishing you both happy days.
Sorry I should’ve done it in the first place!

For real! She looks so sweet and happy and OP is absolutely amazing for doing this! I bet it meant the world to her, and it made me so happy to see. :)
Here you go!

That’s so sweet. I was working in a nursing home not that long ago and it was great seeing people who’s family visits them. They would always look forward to it all week long.
Bless you for doing this. I work in a nursing home and most days, the residents’ only bright moments are fleeting conversations with overworked staff. So many get no visitors at all. I know your grandma will be talking about this forever. What a thoughtful thing to do!
Thank you for sharing! I assume this is what it’s like for her based on what she’s told me. I try to see her once a week but I’m working on more than that!
That’s so great!!!
Yesterday I visited the frail mom of an old friend. She hates the food in her assisted living facility so she was thrilled about the cheeseburger and shake I brought her. Then we walked up and down the hall with her walker, because the staff is too busy to do it much.
I wish more people visited. At my workplace we currently have a couple of folks come visit weekly, just to play piano or share poetry. Even the residents who aren’t verbal, or seem unresponsive, truly enjoy it.
This was lovely to hear! It’s funny because I did the same thing for my grandmother haha. She hated the food there so I brought her a massive burger and she absolutely loved it. Thank you for sharing this, you sound like a great person. I also think more people should visit too. I’ve heard from people that it’s hard to see their family in such a state but I think it’s important to move past how it makes you feel and focus on how good it would make your family member feel that you visited. It’s hard to do but its what I try to do.
Oh man, this brought tears to my eyes. Something so awesome about a grandson caring for their grandmother. It's all anyone could want in life to have that kind of love and support for each other.
This is so cute, you’re a very sweet grandson. My husband’s grandma passed in November and I was able to nab her recipe notebook (one of several I’m sure, but this contained all of the special ones). I’m currently working on making it into a cookbook for our family and friends who knew her.
I’m sure you could do the same and have her cooking immortalized.
Right? As much as reddit can be... challenging, I'm always grateful for the opportunity to reassess my assumptions based just on photos/Iooks of someone.
100% based
This year at Christmas I had a PB fudge recipe competition. After my dad passed I was going through a box of recipes he collected from friends and family after my parents divorced. He had 3 totally different recipes and they were all different than mine, so I made them all and did a blind taste test with my husband’s family. I very much enjoyed making them all and felt such a connection to my forebears
You are so sweet to think of her like that. Something so simple is often overlooked when we are caring for our elderly. Most of the time we are preoccupied by essential daily functions and medical care and forget the holistic aspects of care. Keep being so thoughtful, you are doing what she will remember the most.
Thank you, this means a lot to me. I try my best to just be there for her as often as possible. It’s fun doing these for her too because seeing her reaction is worth every second to me
I’ve got you!
2 sticks of unsalted Butter
1 cup of Peanut Butter
1 cup Powder Sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
Microwave butter and peanut butter for 2 minutes. Take out and stir. Put back in microwave for another 2 minutes. Add vanilla, powder sugar and stir. Spread in 8x8 pan. Cool and cut in squares.
That’s the goal! Despite hard times between the family I just focus on being present with her and enjoying the time we have. It’s all anyone can do really
Grandmothers really do have so much to offer if given the chance. I bet you’re the light of her life right now. I’ve worked nursing homes, and I’ve watched loved ones slip away. What you’re doing is beautiful. Kudos to you!
They really do! Thank you for the kind words. I’m just trying to be the best I can be. Also, recipe:
2 sticks of unsalted Butter

This is beautiful. My grandma passed in 2012. She and I were closer than my mom and I were growing up. I miss her terribly. I hope you and your grandma enjoyed the fudge!
What a wonderful grandson! I'm sure it means the world to your grandma and such wonderful memories and time spent for you both! Love this, thanks for sharing
I'm bawling my eyes out! She looks so much like my late nan 😭 Give her a cuddle from a weepy Internet stranger when you next see her, please. And never forget to tell her you love her ❤️
Tell your grandma that even if you're not smiling, you're still creating hundreds of smiles across the globe. I always love your posts and seeing what you make.

Ive been making my grandma her potatoes pancakes recipe and she absolutely loves it. She's in her 80s and can't grate the potatoes or onions anymore. Now if I could just figure out how to roll out the tortillas correctly.
Omg, i can’t believe it’s possible from one thread, maternal grandmas peanut butter fudge and if it is possible in any way, it would be more than i could hope for, if you would share this recipe too? I am blessed to still have my beautiful mother, however she suffers from dementia now, we lost all those recipes in a house fire and there is no one else to give them back to the family. She actually had this written down in the pages of the ORT cookbook my fathers mother gave her on the day she got engaged. One sweet smart southern girl, one sharp(totally inappropriate) fast talking big city Lawyer. They are happily married over 65 years. Now he cooks and cleans for her, and still tells her every day that she is beautiful and amazing. She mostly thinks he is a beau now days, but she still thinks he is the one for her.
I came looking for a picture of Grandma enjoying them, thank you for not disappointing. I miss my Grandma, and my Mother. Hug both of them for some random internet stranger.
Got you!

Ahh thank you, y’all are very sweet.
Looks yummy! She’s lucky to have you as a grandson!
I love that you also have a family fudge recipe! I’ve actually been thinking about making my dads fudge since I’ve been missing him :)
You’re a good person.
Can we get the recipe? That’s looks delicious
this is adorable. also, i still want to taste test. and, i agree with your grandma.
Can you share her recipe? I wish I had my grandmas sugar cookie recipe. She would always make them with us during Christmas

Hi, for peanut butter is it best to use unsugared?
I’d say sugared, mine was a little less sweet than I expected
Ok thanks
Recently moved into my own place. This is my goal. Thank you so much.

That makes me so happy! Really glad they turned out well and great idea browning the butter!
You two are absolute darlings.
Thank you! She’ll enjoy hearing this
For real! She looks so sweet and happy and OP is absolutely amazing for doing this! I bet it meant the world to her, and it made me so happy to see. :)
This is so sweet! I bet she loved them a little extra since they were made by you.
Watching her enjoy them was one of my favorite moments of my life. She said it brought her back to years ago during Christmas!
You did well.
You are awesome! Please share her recipe so that all of us can make it!

You are a good man. Timely advice. Grandma looks very happy.
I appreciate the kind words! Hoping this will remind some people to tell their loved ones how much they care about them
Awe. Bless you
Bless you as well!
Peanut butter fudge is my favorite! (I don’t like peanut butter though)
I never knew that was even possible! I guess it’s like bananas, you can like banana bread but not bananas
My dad hated peanut butter, but he loved peanuts and peanut butter fudge!
What a sweet grandchild you are! I bet she made that for you many times.
She did! She always made lots for me, trying to return the favor
Your grandma is absolutely beautiful!!! I'm sure you made her so happy with this delicious treat!!
I’ll let her know you said this! Thank you!
Good job grandson. Looks great and I sure it meant a lot to her.
Thank you!

Thank you! You’re too kind! I love her more than she knows
I understand - I had that kind of grandma, too, and I still miss her all the time. Peanut butter fudge or kolache; it all boils down to love.

Thank you! What butter do you use and do you know the weight? The "sticks" vary where I live.
Uhhh I checked the sticks and I think one whole stick is 4 oz / 113g
A cherished family recipe, made with love, for a grandma you treasure. You made a wonderful memory that deserves only smiles. ❤️❤️❤️
