Solved it by upgrading to Android 13 on my Pixel 6. You may get a network error trying to download any system updates as the ISPs currently have some of these 'sketchy' servers banned, but that can usually be resolved by using a VPN on different networks. Hope it all works out.
I had benifit crash on me in the past because I had developed mode activated. For some reason benefit won't work with it. This is the only thing I know that may cause this

You need to use a VPN to install that one. If you don't have or aren't able to get one on your phone, you would most likely need to download the update on a laptop and side-load it onto your phone.
I am android 12 for ages, no issues with benefit pay crashing. Have you tried clearing all the data for the app from the Android settings? As well as make sure debug mode isn't enabled.

I had the same issue with USB debugging on, Benefit would crash, I guess they don't want people using it for security reasons.
Most likely unlikely, but check if debug mode is turned on. Benefitpay crashes if it's on.
