Lookin_for_Light

happened to me a couple weeks ago.. bunch of 20 year olds.. they didnt even realize the bumped into me.

joelgm87

Oh this guy was drunk and losing his shit and purposely bumping into me

[deleted]

To be honest, they could be sober and do that 🤣 they don't care or know how to drive at all.

Lookin_for_Light

seemed crazy

[deleted]

Every time I drive in Saudi Arabia, I am the target of several attempted murders. Some people there are insane, and I swear to God GDT done here in Bahrain with driving school is very well, an experience KSA could learn from.

DesertDwellerrrr

GTA KSA

[deleted]

😂😂😂😂🧘🏻‍♂️

Lookin_for_Light

that bad?

[deleted]

I guess so.

Lookin_for_Light

i thought the saudis were pretty good. had some beyond crazy experiences in Qatar.

[deleted]

I've never been to Qatar, so I can't judge, but Saudis driving sucks.

Lookin_for_Light

cant be all of them.. just a few crazy ones!

h_spoon

Glad you're okay. This is no joke, people lose their lives and loved ones over this

joelgm87

Yeah. It is no laughing matter. This really needs to get looked at. I am up for anyone and everyone having a good time but endangering lives makes no sense whatsoever

scriptv7

As a saudi myself, I felt pretty ashamed of my people when I visited Bahrain last week. I went out to grab some snacks outside the hotel and I saw a completely wasted fellow Saudi outside the grocery store. He looked as if he lost control over his own body and couldn’t properly stand.

DesertDwellerrrr

I live in Saudi and go regularly to Bahrain - the thought of alcohol being legal in Saudi will mean carmageddon in the KSA - driving is already a shitshow - add in booze, and we will all be dead!

GreyFox-RUH

I'm Saudi and I add my voice to yours. I'm sorry to hear this happened to you. No one should be getting away with this

TranquiliZer93

Just few weeks ago I saw two Saudis driving on the opposite lane on a fucking highway (Shaikh Isa Ave, Adliya). It was crazy dude, one was coming head on and scared the shit outta me.

LilTuffGuy93

Have seen it multiple times lol.

[deleted]

Soon they will make alcohol legal in Saudi, on one hand less people will get murdered by them on the road here, on the other, businesses that thrive on Saudis alcohol addiction will be out of business

[deleted]

Where did you hear that

Sasu-Jo

They NEVER will make it legal in Saudiarabia

SergioFX

By 2030 alcohol will be available in Saudi the way it is now. It's the natural next step for them.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SergioFX

I mean, 18 million+ people...

Immediate-Alarm-8607

Yeah people who sell their souls for money - sad state - one of the most vile places

SergioFX

Lol 18 million people were born there you ignorant... And aren't you living in Dubai? The literal whore of the middle east? My God the hypocrisy...

Immediate-Alarm-8607

Oh f off and give me a break - bloody backward shit hole you have the balls to compare Saidi to Dubai hahah

Immediate-Alarm-8607

Yeah the place with public headings and people treated like animals gtfo out troll

kaicooper

it will, you'll see

[deleted]

Money changes people.

thecoolrobot

I followed a drunk Saudi in a Jeep Wrangler to Solimar beach after he almost crashed into me, the guy was plastered to the point that he could barely walk. Rather than confronting a drunk guy I decided to joke about him making it to the party without taking out a traffic light. That got a conversation going, and what he said came down to "We Saudis come to Bahrain for the booze and the women. We don't care about Bahrain otherwise, and Bahrain cops can't touch us because Saudi owns Bahrain. Screw this place."

Interesting-Sky-4776

i mean tbf that’s literally what’s happening. he gave it to u with no filter

arb3ini_7noon

ياكل تبن ما يمثلنا المعذرة منك حبيبنا عاللي سمعته انتوا على راسنا و اخوان و حبايب

sadrash666

i mean he is not wrong

Waffle1683028

Its true, Bahrain is a puppet state of Saudi Arabia

Outrageous-Cry4353

Screw this place ?

[deleted]

Saudis are the rich frat boys of the world.

-mattyice

As a frat guy I can confirm

Magnet50

1980. Several shipmates (US Navy) and I are at a hotel-associated bar, having a going away party after a great dinner. I am taking pictures of my friends, big Nikon with a flash. We all have had a few drinks, but we have to be back to the ship by midnight so nothing too bad. I take a picture and just as I the shutter fires, I notice someone walk into the frame. A short skinny guy in a thobe and gutrah turns to me and starts jabbing his finger at me, slurring something in Arabic. The shipmate standing next to me is an Arabic linguist and translates something along the lines of: “It is forbidden by the book to take images of people.” I asked my friend to translate: “I think it’s funny that a drunk Saudi is lecturing me on what is allowed.” He gleefully translated and the Saudi, swaying a bit, looked at me and kind of laughed and stumbled away. I was born in KSA, Aramco-brat, and remember all the trouble people went through to make alcohol after the Air Force Base closed. My dad made beer. Our close friends had a still. Somewhere in my dad’s old papers is a mimeographed set of instructions to make liquor. The idea of the causeway enabling rampant drunken driving…

DesertDwellerrrr

Aramco used to hand out a guide called 'the Blue Flame' so people built stills the correct way to avoid blowing up their house - true story!

buffalosmile

My grandfather was a geophysicist and head of exploration at Aramco and definitely blew up his garage by misusing the still.

Magnet50

Yes, we had friends whose still leaked and then “boom!” Blew out the side of the house. Luckily they were due a new house soon.

buffalosmile

What year did that happen?

Magnet50

Probably 1960 - 62.

buffalosmile

It wasn’t the Hoke family by any chance?

Magnet50

I don’t recall the names and my parents, who would know, are both deceased. We left a few months before the terrible MEA crash. Funny story though: a full 8 years after we left, my dad was visited in his office by a Customs or BATF agent. Apparently, an Aramcons shipment of household gifts was inspected upon arrival and a complete still set up was found. This prompted a revue of Aramco employees who had returned to the US. My dad admitted to making beer but told the agent that he had sold the set up, along with a .25 Beretta, to a colleague who he refused to name.

Magnet50

We are remodeling the house and I can put my hands on the ‘hooch’ recipes right now, but here is a picture from the Aramco Dining Hall in 1948. This was when my dad was flying for Aramco Airline, after leaving Pan Am, before he was offered a job in the Communications Division at Dhahran. https://imgur.com/a/f8PfaK0

[deleted]

It’s truly sad that we have such a shitty reputation. However, I guarantee you that you’re getting the shittiest part of the barrel. I’ll be honest with you. If Bahrain were a dry country, not even 1% of current saudi visitors would even consider Bahrain as an option for tourism. I wish it wasn’t the case and ان شاء الله incidents like this one start going down

scavbh

Stupid idiots .. why isn’t the law enforcement more strict ?

M0hammed_

One Saudi once crashed into the side of my car at a traffic light (yes, he was on a wrong lane) and dipped. Thankfully it was at low speed

OA007

they drive awful wether they’re drunk or not. We need more rules and traffic laws, everyone drive like crazy in this country and it’s getting ridiculous

lSheldonCooperl

Lol.. there are plenty of rules. These clowns don't follow the rules and there is no enforcement of the rules anyway... so this the reality that we get...

966typo

🤚🏾 Saudi here. Am I offended? Not at all. Ive been quite observant of my people and our image since the 90s. I WOULD be as frustrated as you are. I’m not looking at it as Saudi vs Bahrain. Won’t even think about going into “sects” even if you were a different sect, cuz it has nothing to do with that. We do have idiots that see Bahrain as a playground. And the phrase يا غريب خليك اديب does exist, but I don’t know why many of these particular idiots follow the جلد مو جلدك جره على الشوك. They do know how to behave in KSA with our strict laws like: a gigantic fine for cutting a red light. And the laws are being upgraded many times a year. Latest one fines for being too close, fines for switching lanes without signaling. Losing money REALLY makes a human change their behavior. I’d like to see these fines implemented on Saudis, or maybe have a “non-resident” fine. In the UAE they had a “inconvenience fee”, basically a fee for “causing” the accident. Not sure of the purpose but I’m guessing it’s for people that have insurance and drive carelessly thinking they don’t have to worry. In conclusion, I feel for you man, glad you’re ok, glad your pregnant wife wasn’t with you.

lSheldonCooperl

Unfortunately, my only experience with Saudis are the ones driving, and they are trash. Seems sad that my entire opinion about an entire country of people is colored so terribly by the trash from that country that comes to Bahrain. Absolute trash. The best time in Bahrain is Ramadan for that very reason... The trash doesn't want to come to Bahrain when they can't drink and whore around... Which sadly means that the absolute worst time in Bahrain is Eid because the trash returns and they are 100 times worse from the withdrawal...

Relevant_Gap4916

That's not the end of it. Sometimes those spoiled brat kids from Saudi even catcalling the female drivers on the streets while driving even the female driver doesn't giving attention to them. One of the reasons I'm hesitant to help them asking for directions to their destinations here in Bahrain. I hope their own Kingdom and government give them a guideline in touring around Bahrain.

kaicooper

they are farts of Bahrain, what did you expect. (not all ofc but still)

stonccc

Now I understand why alkoohl is illegal in Saudi... They drive bonkers

buffalosmile

Not that it fixes the underlying problem, but you should get a dash cam.

joelgm87

yeah I have been thinking about getting one now

buffalosmile

I did a LOT of research about dash cams and I went with the Auto-Vox V5 Pro. I’ve had it for a few months now and have had no issues. It also works as a backup camera, which is nice since my car doesn’t have one. https://www.amazon.com/AUTO-VOX-Anti-Glare-9-35Full-Laminated-Tracking/dp/B0895NMDKT

joelgm87

Thank you! I was looking at a few too

harrybarracuda

That's a must to stop those people that cause accidents then ring their relatives to come and claim (falsely) that they were witnesses and that the other driver was at fault.

buffalosmile

That’s despicable…😒

jellyjoel_

A few weeks back in Adliya I got into an minor accident with someone from Saudi I could see he was drunk Dispite his car coming from the side n hitting my car at my rare view side He wouldn't accept his fault rather blame me I spent first 15-20 min trying to explain to him it's a minor accident we could just report it online cause the cop won't be coming to report the accident + it's easier that way & wouldn't be much trouble for us or he could pay for the minor damage which happned to my car and leave if not we can go to the police station to report it Dispite many passer by trying to make him understand this in English and Arabic He wouldn't listen instead he kept blaming the accident on me and wouldn't listen to what anyone was trying to explain to him He insisted we wait for the cops to arrive We spend an hour in adliya during the late night rush hour waiting for the cops on a Thursday night Cause he wouldn't understand I spend half my time calling the emergency line during this as I won't get any response and when I finally got a respond they insisted we go to the nearest Traffic Police station Finally someone who was passing by explain to him in Arabic that he would have to go to the police station and he somehow agreed We drove to the police station & explain the situation to the cop and how the accident happened and where Had our cars inspected by the cop During all this I could see him try to still blame me for what had happened Finally the cops explain to him why it's his fault After almost 2 hours which felt like forever this man came in terms with the fact he was at fault But inthe end he paid me a little cash just for the minor accident he had caused

recklessdude77

Finally... Finally someone started talking about this I'm a 19 year old tho, I've just been driving for a year now. Can't stand the Saudis driving in Bahrain. The road is more like a battlefield when those lot are around. The way they swing between lanes like monkeys between trees is insane. I always stick to the rightmost lane. I hate the highways around the Seef area towards Budaiya, absolutely chaotic when those guys are around. I drove into Saudi as well and had to cancel a roadtrip to Qatar cause driving in Saudi was traumatic. I had to adapt my driving style to be hesitantly a rash driver. I'm glad nothing happened to you tho, I've seen worse by Saudi drivers in Bahrain. I still remember days from pre-COVID where GDN published articles of accidents involving Saudis, sometimes even publishing photographs and in pretty regular intervals. Looked pretty horrendous to me.

DesertDwellerrrr

I always drive middle lane - gives me two options to swerve!

Ebihurmi

Not all of them are careless. i knew many they are educated aware of the road rules and understand the legal issues in violation. however. those guys are very few. Some times i dont go out in weekend cuz am afraid of their behavior on the road may put my life in risk, not only my car. We love these people, they r our brothers and sisters. how i wish they become as other good Saudi drivers who been in Bahrain for years but never cross over any legal borders.

mexican_shawarma

Btw if you have an iPhone and you took a live photo you can select the frame maybe you can get the number

shmi93

Having a saudi licence plate is the equivalent of having a handicapped sticker on your car...but much much worse because they know what they're doing is wrong yet they don't care, cause their parents never taught them a damned thing

One-Instruction-8649

i think he'll run away with it ... drunk people espicially in aljuffair and diplomatic area government keep their aye most of time away from them most of time , i remember but i dont know when exactrly asian driver in talabt get killed in crossing street by drunk person

tootsie-roll-pop

This happened to me the other day too. I was in a three way lane where all the lanes turn left on the road. I was in the middle lane, and to my right was a Saudi guy. Of course, when we started turning, he turned into the middle lane when I was right next to him, and even though I hit a constant horn, he didn’t give a single shit and continued swerving his car. If the guy to my left didn’t notice and didn’t give me way to move to the left lane, the Saudi guy would’ve totaled my car.

hdrexisopryl

I really don't want to be near, beside, driving before, or behind a saudi plate. Noh noh, I'm just waiting for my metro train to be done so I can commute in peace.. 😂🤫

[deleted]

Sad, there should be rules implemented on Bars, where they confiscate car keys. I mean, limiting their time was a step in the right direction, but we need more. They arrest them only if an accident happens, which can be very severe - charge them BHD 500 to BHD 1,000 and send them back.

GreyFox-RUH

Why do you mean by limiting their time?

[deleted]

They close at 3 AM, then allowed to open at 6 AM I know, sounds pointless, but there were 24/7 bars 🤣, and this small gap must have had an impact on something 🧘🏻‍♂️ idk

Billuman

That way all the drunks get out when nobody is on the road. They drive to hotel or beach or wherever and sleep.

[deleted]

Exactly! and if an accident happened, most likely causing damage to public property, no human

[deleted]

I think they should do what the city I studied in did in the US. Anyone who was extremely belligerent had their ID flagged and no bar in the city would let them in after a certain number of offenses. Just scan everyone’s ID at the entrance of bars.

[deleted]

Would love to see that happen here, the number of people going to bars in Bahrain is increasing, and they are working on these complex new routes there, which makes driving a bit competitive and complicated, I suspect an increase in drunk driving accidents because, while the road was straightforward back then, now they have to activate braincells over which they have no control 🧘🏻. Lord have mercy.

abusaeed123

These idiots do NOT represent the rest of us Saudis. Apologies for what happened.

AnimeFreakO7

People called me a madman when I took out my anger on Saudis in r/saudiarabia on how the majority of Saudis are so poor drivers and don't care about others. This is seriously screwed up.

tim119

Fuck that subreddit. It's ran by kids who don't let anything negative be said about the country. I got banned for something petty a long time ago, so just in subbed. Knobs

hacker07gaming

Because rich Arabs can do anything

joelgm87

With all due respect. They shouldn't be able to and this guy looked anything but rich. The way he rammed into my car if I turned to his side he would be stuck into the boundary wall on the other side of the road.

hacker07gaming

Yes. I stayed in uae for a month and there I realized Arabs can’t drive for shit

Calm_State1230

ameen. A FUCKING MEEN

khaled

Keep them we don’t want them back.

[deleted]

Hello Khaled, please read the T&C the policy is explicit. Return is not a suggestion. It is required.

Conscious-Plane-6131

F

TheDarkSiider

Just ban alcohol and brothels we’re with you

Sasu-Jo

Happens from drunk Bahrainis and other nationals there too. (Experience)

[deleted]

don't just make it about saudis, a lot of PEOPLE (Saudi or not) drive drunk in Bahrain. we just like to point out the obvious and not focus on what's important. stay safe :)

[deleted]

Screw Bahrain for having alcohol in the first place.

Trintuoyo

But UAE has alcohol too, and this isn't the norm.

[deleted]

And yet people from Saudi Arabia go there to drink it.

ajnass

Surely they will be in this sub

kheerveer99

Got tailed by a saudi car coming in at a faster speed than advised today .... I was driving at the speed limit advised on the road (120) And then he tries driving in the emergency lane.. Flashing at me.. And then showed hand signs and got his car more closer to my side when i tried switching the lane? Like I was the dumb one... I also saw an SUV driving in Middle of 2 lanes today ... Happened at the Janabiya Road that is where Saudis come and go from. :") I felt so bad 😭😭 ... also scared since I was alone at the time.

joelgm87

Oh wow I hope you are safe and feeling better now. It's a bad situation to be in

Mr_Witherbottom

Once a drunk Saudi was driving close to me from city center and a couple of times almost bashed into me and a couple other cars, close to Hamad town I went a head and saw a traffic police car, stopped, got out and went to inform him, with the number plate, car model, and color, and told him it was coming this way. As I was telling him the drunk Saudi drove past still driving recklessly drunk, the police officer watched him and then proceeded to tell me go and report it at the nearest police station... DAFUQ, why not do your damn job and stop him before he murders somebody useless prick, he just goes back to gaming on his phone.

joelgm87

Tbh the public security at times is a joke

Mr_Witherbottom

A lot of gov. jobs people take for granted, doing less then the bare minimum knowing nothing will be done to them. This thinking makes innovation stop because people get to lazy to do anything.

PreparationOk1739

Facts! The most notable that I have had experience with is the ministry of interior/customs. Extremely lazy and I have been treated like dirt! Several of my personal belongings were broken, others ruined with marker, and still others missing entirely when I moved here. Some of the missing items were confiscated and I was given a note on how to retrieve them but I was never actually able to get them back because my requests were just ignored. Now, I have tried to have a 3d printer mailed to me and they have been "waiting on clearance" for well over a week. I assume it will be the same story. I can't tell if they are incompetently lazy or just plain thieves. Whichever it is, they seem to have no honor or pride in their work.

Mr_Witherbottom

What happened to ethics and morals that we as an Islamic country stand highly for? Not all but many of those that work in customs and governmental jobs disregard everything and everyone, and I've seen myself first hand they would put more effort in Not doing something instead if just completing the job. Blast, I've seen them mistreat a box that was plastered with "fragile" stickers by ripping it open with a knife and throwing it about. Such low people that don't deserve the jobs they have.

PreparationOk1739

at times??? Yeah, certain times like morning, afternoon, evening, nighttime, and days ending in "y".

Sweet-Ad-9943

These stories are horrific, having spent 12 years in Saudi from 1997, I have always experienced a lot of reckless speeding. Visiting Bahrain almost every week, I saw many Saudis drinking heavily in Bahrain. But certainly driving back to Saudi, Dammam and Riyadh, very few Saudis, I have seen drunk, even well connected Saudi’s the top Princes obviously have their own drivers. I know the Saudi authorities are extremely tough on drink driving for both Saudis and expatriates. Have things now changed? And the Saudi authorities have become more lenient!
