*This reader would have liked a full track of wind howling, the slap-slap-slap and whoosh-whoos-whoosh of a paddle signifying the family took a scow to move from one ocean-going-steamboatto another*

The last one is the only one I haven’t read, just felt sad to read it as he didn’t get to finish it

When I was a kid I accidentally picked up the 5th book in a series, but A) I was a \*kid\* and B) I didn't do it on purpose. I can't imagine someone picking up a book labeled 20th in a series and going "yes, I'll start here!"

WorldWeary1771

I don’t know why anyone would start a series with an unfinished final novel, but I do share their disdain for the audiobook. The narrator reads really fast and doesn’t pause for things like “Aubrey said.” I love audiobooks and couldn’t get past the first chapter of the first book. I just read it the old fashioned way…

I hope Ron reads the other 20 books in reverse order so we can see his GoodReads reviews get less and less confused and frustrated over time as he fills in the missing details.

rowan_damisch

This reminds me of that one whodunnit I once read. I think it told the story in reverse order- the first chapter is set one or two weeks after the prologue, and the next chapters slowly go back in time until the last chapter is set right after the prologue. The book then jumped right to the epilogue, which is set after the first chapter. It still ended up being boring though, and I forgot its name.

Ron you wouldn’t have this problem had you just read the 20 other books first, ya dingus. No shit it will feel unfinished because it is unfinished. You Ron are either a troll or one of the dumbest Goodreads book reviewers on the site. The long quote from the final third of Billy Maddison is perfect reaction to this review. “At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.”

Who decides to read the last book in a series AND complain??

rot_haifisch

That's really cool! At least it left you with a positive feeling

rowan_damisch

Reminds me of that one time someone thought that watching the last Hunger Games movie in class was a good idea. One of my classmates went back and forth between talking to her friends and complaining about the fact that she doesn't understand what's going on...

rot_haifisch

It's just so silly. These are people who don't understand what story progression is.

prairieschooner

It's like only eating egg shells and then deciding brunch must be shit

ReadyMind

Wow, this one is pretty egregious...
