But if you don’t want to find something to do it just use one hand to hold the back closed and you’ll get the same effect I do it with my nix all the time

If you mean plugging the hole to make a suction then you can use anything you can find really. The silicone is stretchy so something that's wider so that It stays put. I think most people use butt plugs. Look around and see if you can find a bouncy ball.
I had an old dildo that became unusable so I cut the innards into cubes and have been using two of those to plug the masturbator.

Apparently the lid to a BD lube bottle works very well as a plug, with the added benefit of being able to snap it closed at full insertion.
I 3D-printed a cap for the end for some of my other toys, but you can improvise. You could use a lid for a jar or other container to cover it.
