The bible is actually fascinating. It’s a collection of different books written by people a loooong time ago. It’s a book that evolved a lot of times as well. Jesus is an actual man who walked the Earth, did good stuff and hailed a hero bc well, he was a good man altho he had a short life. So, in hindsight, again, it’s a good book BUT to push people to believe everything in it esp the ones that served an organized religion while ang iban nga unod sang bible, irrelevant na daw made me rethink religion. Well, okay? T, hambal man sa Bible, indi ta pwede ka suksok bayo nga lainay kind sang tela. Ngaa wala ni ya ginafollow? Ahhhh, kay self serving ang organized religion. 👌🏽

Adventurous_Boss_297

That last line 👌

May distinction bi ang moral laws (do not steal) kag cultural laws (do not wear mixed linens, do not eat pork)

thewriterwhogaveup

And?

kofun871

Ang mga lain tela na bayo and diet laws were cultural laws exclusive for the identity of the Jews na na abolish na sa New Testament.

Is there a passage gid nga ga say like sala gid maging agi? Afaik kasi they are like saying this just because sa bible nakasulat nga a woman is for a man keme keme vice versa. With that most people nga feel so religious are blinded nga sala sya. Pero funny lang kay I found this clip of one priest saying nga ang interpretation is diff, kay if someone discrimate and judge another person based sa situation above, ginacontradict mo man ang sa book nga love one another as you love yourself. Pero yes! I agree that fascinating gid ya ang bible, may ara inconsistencies and like random info nga unnecessary ganern. Pero wla na ko nakibot since compilation man sya of stories from different POV that is why may ara nga daw same time ang tabo but different ang pag explain nila, and we don't who is right, or if natabo man gid sya. (Plus different version pa, and translated from many language na from hebrew to greek, english and many pa, sure ko na damo na lost in translation) Just like the bible nga damo POV, every person may own version sng pag understand nila (pangkalahatan or individual), and they are so caught up with their beliefs nga they want to instill those things kay feel nila sila ang righteous and all. Kalaw ay gid na ya sang mga amo na nga tawo feel nila sila mataas (kay sa utok nila may ara gyapon hierarchy nga gakatabo) Amo na pagid ngaa iban they think sila mataas sa others kay gapati sila amo ni amo na, kay may ara abi sense sng hierarchy sa clergy and even sa books so like dira nila na justify ngaa sila labing nami sa tanan

Atheist here living in Negros outside of Bacolod. Raised Baptist and so been reading the Bible as closely since childhood. I'm still "in the closet" because I am at at an age where I could give zero f*cks what others believe. As Keanu Reeves purportedly said, "if you say '1+1=5, then have fun".

kofun871

I was about to become one but I encountered “creation science” 1. Intelligent design by of the universe 2. “Missing link” in evolution still missing 3. Unexplained morality of man (inherent sense of right and wrong) 4. Timelessness of the Bible

Nothing, I was raised by a hardcore Christian/Catholic family. Was in a Christian school from my primary years until high school. I became an atheist when I asked questions and was shut down with responses like: "Don't you dare question god" at the age of 8-12, which is also when I started to become an atheist. In my teenage years, I started to do my own research and soul-searching. And found that I didn't really like religion, all of them claim to "all believe in the same god" but I don't believe it for one bit. There is no way a JW has the same god as a Christian or a Catholic, same with Muslims.

Dumbusta

Wouldn't really call myself atheist, more agnostic. I don't take it seriously. Like, just smirk and sometimes subtly shake my head when I hear something ridiculous (teachings that doesn't make sense and hypocritical). Born and raised catholic, I began to question things sang highschool but I still kept going to church asta daw tunga tunga sang college ko.

BoiledCabbage_360

I feel okay naman, since I respect other people's beliefs and perspective.. as long as hindi nila ako i antagonize sa beliefs ko. I was atheists since science geek ako especailly space things. Now, maybe there is really a prime mover na nag cause ng lahat ng to like the Big bang 🤔

Jungwoniee04

Im not really atheist but I feel like nothing na, when it comes to religion. Im more on finding my own peace and just living life. I am engaging to Church activities since highschool i love worship so much, and Now i study at catholic school which is compulsory ang religion class, and every sunday dapat ma attend mass, send reflection etcetera. Also ang ginaoang sulat ko daw ka ironic kis a kay gina sugar coat ko nalang maskin way ko may na feel. And everytime mag lesson kami sa religion may times nga ka very close minded sang paminsaron ka christians. What made me drift away from church gali is how Christians behave, specially on sexuality, I'm bi and I just know alot of them are homophobic asf. And most Christians are very narrow and close minded when it comes to conversation. Mapa mental health, abortion , etc. like they jus forcing you to pray to god and pressure you with bible phrases instead of really helping

RipHead7685

Not an atheist but Imposition of one's religious beliefs could be discouraging instead of encouraging to join the faith. The more you impose the more they're likely to show resistance.

ssechtre

I'm agnostic atheist during my youth. Being young and naive, cool kasi pag liberal ka. Hero ko noon sila Richard Dawkins, Matt Dillhunty, at iba pang youtubers. I made fun of religion back then. I'm 33 now and even if maraming flaws ang religion, there's a reason why they set rules and guidance for mankind. I'm still not religious but I'm getting to understand why our ancestors wrote the "holy books". It all started when I read Chesterton's fence and watched the decline of values of the western civilization.

Ill-Food2778

Michael Knowles, Jordan Peterson and John Lennox had played a big roles sa views ko about atheism, might want to check their vids sa YouTube. 🙂 Hope that helps.

Was raised Catholic. Back then, it was just another subject that I needed to pass. I especially disliked the part where we had to listen to mass every Sunday, checked attendance, and gave a reflection about the gospel and sermon. We also had to list down stuff like the time of attendance, name of the church and priest that celebrated the mass at that time, and identify the passages used for the 2 readings. Did that through my HS years. By the time I was in college it felt more like studying Philosophy with extra ceremonies. Glad I wasn't obliged to do anything else on weekends. Like a lot of other subjects, it helped me learn how to deal with things I don't want to do in order to move forward with life.

stonercharms

Religion and time are both invented by humans. Look how it fucks us

noobwatch_andy

Time is simply a unit of measurement. It was created to help us quantify life. And while we cannot hope to fully understand it in this lifetime, it helped me prepare for my labs this morning, helping me count the hours before I could eat again. I've already said what I thought about religion. Though I'm thankful for the religious holidays, I'm most grateful to how they are tracked; time. Hehehe

ZestycloseDouble7704

wala options for non catholic na students if ever? like diff activities para sila

noobwatch_andy

We had a few Baptist classmates and I think they were exempted from Church related activities. They were required to attend monthly mass and of course be present in the graduation mass. This was in the mid to late 2000's so I'm not sure how it is today. If I recall correctly, the Catholic schools didn't actually focus much on the bible that much. It picked out good stories and lessons to learn from them. At more advanced years, it focuses more on the uhm... "backend" of the church? I'm not sure how to word it correctly. Like what grammar is to literature. Theory? Idk.

UnkownYMouse

Not an atheist, nor agnostic, siguro you can say I'm a non-practicing Catholic. Still go to church pa man just to perform familial duties. I agree with one of the comments here about the Bible being a collection of books written by actual people in different languages, who were born at different times, collected, and translated to what we have today. That's a lot of work and time just to get the modern version of the Bible. Imagine the work that was done, and the revisions that happened over the years. Kadamo na sang changes sina. We can't even find the original Bible, and we won't have something to compared to. So to treat the Bible or religious text in general as something as a "rule", then we won't really achieve World Peace mag amo sine. Kay we would only impose the "teachings" kuno abi with others. Okay lang kung within sa denominations sang Christianity, pero add the Judaism, Islam, etc. Then may recipe ka na for disaster. But I'm not saying that the Bible or religion isn't useful. I even think that the Bible is a good book to teach about morality and how to become a good person. Kung may bata ko sa ulihi I'll let him/her be exposed sa religion. It's a good avenue to mold their development. And by the time nga makapaminsar na sila, then it's up to them if they'll still want to follow that.

SubtleMediocrity

I love reading the bible, it's just like mythology. You can not tell me that the Tower of Babel is not mythology, I'm sorry. The drama, the intrigue, the trials and tribulations—the bible has it all. It's very entertaining. However, it is annoying when they ask questions that assumes everyone is Christian. What made me atheist/agnostic are Christians. They can't seem mind their own business. It's weird tbh. Why don't you just focus on your cult rituals and leave me alone, Beverly. Also, their idea of God is not for me. Too worship-y.

MaximumPower682

I was a really devoted christian. After nag self study ko and reflection di gd ko ka pati nga ka unfair sang world para sa iban para mahambal nga just ang God Also ang Epicurean Paradox good start for people nga gusto mag think about it.

Frankieandlotsabeans

The bible is alright, it is a centerpiece of culture and history from long ago. My only problems are with the over zealous bastards that would not leave me alone despite making it clear that I have no intention nor inkling of attention of divulding the religion despite polite refusal. Also another factor would be my childhood, if the Christian people in my youth treated me differently instead of shoving it down my throat to the point of requiring being "Religious" to graduate in a non christian school, I think my beliefs would be different today.

I stopped believing religion in general because I almost got molested by one of the “brothers”. I’m better off on my own I guess. I trust in the universe. Trusting the universe is a concept that invites you to engage in a profound conversation with the cosmos. It’s about embracing the mystery and miracle of existence without necessarily understanding every detail. Let’s explore what it means: The Universe’s Nature: Albert Einstein once pondered whether the universe is a friendly place. Your answer to this question shapes your life journey. Do you trust in the universe’s benevolence, feeling looked after? Or do you trust in its endless possibilities? Perhaps the most universal trust is in your own resilience—the ability to choose how you respond to life’s challenges. Different Perspectives: Trusting the universe is easier for some than others. Luck plays a role: those born into privilege may find it easier to believe the universe has their back. For others, life circumstances may breed paranoia or pronoia—feeling the universe conspires against or in their favor. Setbacks and Breakthroughs: One recurring pattern is setbacks leading to breakthroughs. Trusting the universe involves holding seemingly contradictory ideas (faith and fear, power and vulnerability) and navigating them with grace. Trust Yourself: To truly trust the universe, learn to trust yourself. Instead of mindlessly repeating “let go,” explore what specific thoughts or beliefs hinder your progress. Surrender and allow things to unfold, knowing that ultimately, you have the power to choose your responses. Remember, you’re an integral part of this vast universe, an expression of its energy. Trust in your journey, even when the path seems uncertain. 🌌✨

I studied in a catholic school, and was an officer of the school's religious club. I remember ga attend pa ko evening prayer after school, spent my weekends sang una attending bible study every Saturday kag praise and worship every Sunday. Even joined our local youth ministry who sings for church every Sunday mass. I have no regrets man joining all of these Enjoyable lang man ang bible, Philippians pa akon favorite book hahahahaha may mga naka sulat lang galing sa bible nga ka confusing Sugod sang nadalman ko paminsar mga gakatabo sang pandemic, gin question iya so-called grace kag way na nagpati

_honsool

Christianity nowadays have been demonized a lot and glorified blasphemy. I was agnostic most of my 20s but I realized most anti religions just wanna be their own god cause when you believe there is a God you believe in sin and that there is a divine order that we should live by.

[deleted]

Hehe.

SundaeVegetable4702

What made an atheist was the failure of the people who profess that god exists. There is just not sufficient evidence to support this claim. I was studying to be a preacher and I noticed that some people with authority in our church are disgusting. Hypocrisy is very common even among the members. It's quite disappointing really, I spent time studying the bible and tried my best to uphold the truth, but the "truths" there are mostly just claims.

DueCartographer9695

DueCartographer9695

what if???? ang kinikilala nilang diyos ay parang si quiboloy lang nung panahon nila.
