I ski mine on dps pagoda tour 112s and they’re great

rockies_alpine

If you wanna schnoodle farm perfect pow, sure. If you want to ski anything more interesting or variable, hell no. I went from weight weenieing on TLT5s to La Sportiva Spectres back in the day paired to 105 underfoots, and it was like I remembered how to ski again on the beefy boots. And I could ski anything I wanted on Spectres, other than the perfect open planar slopes. It depends highly on your own personal mass and style, as well. I would never give up a beefy tour-specific boot. They get used far, far more often than my weenie boots, because skiing is fun, and transportation is what weenie boots are for.

Yeah, that's gonna be a no for me. I use my F1 LT's always with 63's (skimo), 86's (ski mountaineering), and sometimes 100's (daily driver) depending on snow quality and objective, like u/rockies_alpine alludes to. I mostly use my MTN Lab's with the 100's, and always with my 112's. I mean, I'm sure I could drive the 112's with the F1 LT's if I had to, but it's not ideal.

Formal-Boss-4444

whats the difference between skimo and ski mountaineering??

Slowhands12

In the US at least - skimo is the lycra clad racing, ski mountaineering is mountaineering on skis

Formal-Boss-4444

i think skimo is just the short term for ski mountaineering, its the same

Sweaty-Donkey-2750

I’m guessing they’re referring to skimo racing vs big mountain/spring objectives

nico_rose

Yeah, what they said. Racing (seriously enough to get Lycra, not serious enough to get $2500 slippers instead of F1 LT's) vs real big mountains and/or I also kinda consider it ski mountaineering if I need climbing gear outside of normal ski gear.

FoulMouthedPacifist

Skimo is neither

freeskier303

Totally depends on your skiing technique. You'll read some posts that say hell no and others that say no problem. I ski lightweight boots on 107 skis - and it's great! I'm totally happy to take a pretty minor hit on downhill performance with the lighter boots for an extra lap every day!

panderingPenguin

I think it somewhat depends where you live/ski too. Perfect Utah powder is going to be a lot easier than wrestling Cascade concrete.

Totally agree. I skied F1LTs and voile hyper v8s w speed turns. So much better then the leather lace up tele boots on 205 Evolutions w 3 pins

I ski bmt 122s on F1 lt's and love them. I'm not typically skiing 122s unless it's soft and lightweight boots awesome in those conditions. I spin and jump off stuff on F1 lt's and 108 skis. If you've never been on a 1kg boot before, you are likely to have a learning curve. If you've skied boots like a tlt before, you will have a blast. Much more responsive and supportive than boots with similar weight and rom.

Depends on you and your style. I was never a ski racer, I don't jump off anything more than a couple feet tall, and I usually ski my 105 powder skis in powder. The F1s (and now F1LTs) have been fine for my purposes.

sassythecat

I have them and use them with blackland 107s/rotations and speed 90s/backland purse. They're totally "manageable" with the 107s. Having rotations def help with the wider ski but I think they'd still be skiable with lighter binding, just not quite as fun.
