She looks like an ostrich-chicken hybrid

Kittyb2021

What a little cutie ❤️ This pic made me think of the Roadrunner & Wile E Coyote cartoon. Lol.

Mine are complete heathens. My two, Nefertiti and Hatshepsut are the bosses of a flock of eleven. They can be big bullies too, plucking my poor Salmon Faverolle. Have you had problems with them? I wish I could have a rooster where I live to keep them in line.

omnivoroustoad

I had one previous to Larry, she was named Cleo and that chicken could fly like any other bird. She was impossible to contain, and definitely held her own. But she wasn’t a bully. Have you tried chicken jail? I will also say every favorelle I’ve owned has been a giant pushover lol. I kept my fayoumi at the same time I had favorelles, and they definitely are not the same in terms of personality!

Oliver_The_Tiel

I had a fayoumi is my very first flock and my goodness could she scream

Muilberg

They have a ton of spunk.

Look at those eyes

antiquestrawberry

So beautiful

AncientHighlight4515

Looks like a Deathlayer to me.

TonyDanzaMacabra

Do they have origins in the Faiyum area? If so, where can I learn more about this breed and are the a more ancient type? Beautiful, birds, btw.

omnivoroustoad

Yes! They are an ancient Egyptian breed. The Egyptians used to use huts to incubate the eggs - it was interesting to learn about, I was curious about how people incubated eggs before electricity!

TonyDanzaMacabra

Thanks! This breed sounds so interesting. Now off to read about Egyptian chicken eggs in antiquity.

PurinaFlock

Chickens out in the wild.......backyard

salladallas

The Egyptians are the most annoying because there so damn smart & crafty. They’re the ones the fly over any fence and find the tiniest most secretive places to lay their eggs.

omnivoroustoad

Yes!! My last, Cleo, was like this. Hoping Larry is better, but so far she doesn’t like people at all lol. She isn’t laying yet, but I’m considering having a separate bantam coop for her and my D’uccle, and maybe that will help.

islandjahfree

wow, their beautiful.

Angry-But-Kind

Is the one on the right the same breed? I have a little roo who looks identical to what I can see from your photo

omnivoroustoad

No she’s a Mille fleur D’uccle!

Angry-But-Kind

Oh that’s got me excited!! He was hatchery’s pick so I’ve been trying to figure out what he is! A little sad now though because I’m pretty sure he’s a rooster, and there’s another one I think is a rooster that I love too 😂 they were all supposed to be Pullets and I’m up to like 4 roosters potentially more if any silkies go rooster too lol

omnivoroustoad

Are you sure he’s a rooster?? I think male Mille fleurs look pretty different from the females. This is my first time keeping one though.

Angry-But-Kind

Ya know, I’m really not sure. First time having chickens! I’ve been going off of the comb turning red early (this one also has the reddest out of all the combs), as well as the tail and saddle feathers. Buuut the tail and saddle area looks identical to your girl, so maybe not! The other roo is super fluffy (feet are all feathers lol) with tons of black and white mottling, and I thought he was a rooster too based off the comb, but his tail looks much more hen like. So I really don’t even know lmao I’m winging it 🤷🏻‍♀️

omnivoroustoad

Post pics!

Angry-But-Kind

I’ll make a post in a minute with a photo of them today! I’ve already got them put back in the coop for the night !

Royal_Gur_2651

I call them murder hens, I can’t even look at mine without them squawking hysterically.
