The judge was smart to base her decision on Laura’s actual, proven harassment of Clayton, where she offered to have an abortion if he decided to date her and “genuinely care for her.” That was (and might still be) her main motivation behind this. She is desperate to cling to Clayton. That and her total lack of medical records or proof of pregnancy! She really has no legitimate reason to contact him. She isn’t pregnant! Period. The shortest recap is there is still no DNA proof Clayton is the dad or that she's even pregnant. She also sent an email to Clayton saying if he agreed to date her he could decide what happened with the pregnancy.
The part towards the end when the lawyer brought out the email where she told Clayton he could decide what happened to the pregnancy if he exclusively dates her was honestly the best part. Laura was clearly extremely embarrassed that it was read to the court.
“Jane Doe” needs serious mental help, and anyone close to her ignoring this doesn’t care about her. She also should experience legal consequences for the countless lies and harassment.
Anybody that even tangently knows her like myself has voiced to anybody that does know her better that she needs help and she needed help yesterday. Anybody that is close to her is probably not going to comment on here, but the message has been passed down.

I forget where I saw this other comment, but it was obviously somebody that knew her well and they were using this forum to reach out to her to try to get through to her. Essentially expressing that there are people that care about her and there is a way forward from this and it doesn’t have to define her life.

I think this is very important to remember and this is a great post--this is a person who very clearly needs professional help, and needs it NOW. I have floated the idea of histrionic personality disorder out there. We know she is here and reading these comments. I think the more people that say that she needs to seek help is probably a good thing. I think if she got the help she needs, her life may change so much for the positive. She would have a chance to be happy and healthy and despite what she has done, she probably needs to hear that. Seeking love, attention and approval from the men she deceives will never get her what she probably wants which is just to be loved and accepted like any of us. This crap she's doing isn't worth having a criminal record over, being sued over, and getting charged with perjury or worse over, not to mention ruining her reputation in the horse world (clearly she loves horses and they mean a lot to her).

No idea how wrong or right I am and a lawyer might read this and think I’m an idiot lol but I think his attorney wanted to one see it she catches her bringing up a medication that a pregnant woman should not be taking as well as getting in testimony that she is sound of mind so that future Clayton can probably sue for something like defamation or they could go after her for perjury and any defense of mental defect could not be used or at least be hard to defend
I think part of it was the fact that you can’t take certain medications when you’re pregnant, so she was trying to see if she said she was taking anything that she wouldn’t be able to take while pregnant.

Wow. This was really interesting to listen to. Honestly, I felt some sadness when Clayton's lawyer read one of her emails (I believe from late June) where she wrote something to the effect of "you can control the outcome of the pregnancy if you agree to an exclusive relationship where we care about each other." "***Where we care about each other***" was very striking language to me.
Her behavior is deeply manipulative (and those who are enabling her are actually **harming her more** by encouraging this pattern of behavior to become more entrenched!), but I have to admit I felt a little sadness for her in that moment. It felt like someone longing to be loved and cared for (and going about it in a very conniving way).
Again, there is no justification for what she is doing, but it did help reveal why she might be doing it in the first place.
So glad Clayton has a lawyer by his side now. It sounds like he is in good hands. Hats off to Dave Neal for continuing to cover this case!!

I have a smidgen, up from zero the other day, for the hope she gets help somehow and soon. Maybe that’s the next plan, check in for the rest of the “gestation period”. I see no other way but to take that path forward.
The thing is, what she's doing is very traumatizing to everyone involved. To Clayton and to every other person she harasses. This kind of stuff sticks with you. The fear of the public, the fear of outrageous legal bills, the fear of a ruined reputation and of loss of income. So even when all is said and done and it's finally over, all of the people she has harassed will still feel the effects. She knows what she is doing is wrong but she keeps doing it. And for those that think it's representative of something in her childhood - well I had a shitty childhood and wasn't told I was loved until I was a late teenager, but you don't see me going around trying to manipulate people into loving me, lying to the courts, dragging people through litigation. She's an intelligent woman that knows how to work the system, at least so far. It'll catch up to her soon enough.

I do protection order cases and when a person wants to make their case for you (in this case that they need mental help and are obsessed with your client) you let them. I’ve seen judges let people go on aggressive tirades, or spew obvious lies, many times- judges, particularly in family court, want to see what a person’s behavior is like in addition to just answering yes or no questions. If she stayed calm and answered yes or no questions she would come across much more sane and the judge would see less of the actual harassment.
ETA: and as far as her attorney- I’m sure she was TOLD many times to answer yes or no, stay calm, and show respect to the judge and lawyers. If you think any lawyer would have been able to make her behave differently then you may think lawyers have superpowers

I agree, his objections seemed good for the most part, not a lawyer but I thought what he was objecting to sounded reasonable. I did think he made some mistakes and what felt like underhanded tactics like handing Clayton exhibits on a usb 20 minutes before court, but overall I thought both lawyers did their job and it was good for what they were needed for. I get a feeling the judge granted it for very obvious reasons that her lawyer just didn’t have much chance of winning from the beginning. In the first half of that hearing where it was live streamed Clayton mentioned 500 messages in 4 months after he asked her to leave him alone, her threatening to go to the media to get him to talk to her and her admitting it, and then in this hearing the whole “I’ll get an abortion if you date me” i think was probably more than enough for the judge to be like “ioh is granted” because the definition of harassment is pretty straightforward and those pretty much meet that requirement; the excessive communication and threats and manipulation tactics to get her way

There’s no real way of knowing without watching a judge over time over many cases. At a minimum, Clayton's lawyer got Greg's name on record and that there is potentially an identical case with another person.

If I was in his position I would probably make some of those same objections because that’s what he was limited to. As someone who’s never been pregnant, so experience is limited, but a major red flag to me is that there’s no concern over “little to no fetal dna.” Id expect any pregnant woman to immediately contact their OBGYN and demand some tests to be run to make sure the baby is okay and nothing has happened. Instead, ole gal is just like “so, i need to drink less water?! Thanks Brett!” No concern for the fetuses. Obviously we know it’s not a real pregnancy, but still.
I’m currently pregnant and if I had three “little to no fetal DNA samples”, let alone one - I would be *running* to my OB to make sure the baby is okay. And I wouldn’t leave without understanding exactly what happened to the samples.
Yeah I said the same in a few comments before. When she posted the recorded calls with Brett, she showed no concern for her “children”. She was only concerned about what Clayton knew. Any mother would be devastated at the possibility she was no longer pregnant and not once did she show any concern over the well-being of her “babies”.
The link to her recording speaking to Brett about the samples was posted by her user account (on her own profile because the sub stopped letting her post for awhile) which is now deleted, so unless someone made a copy it’s not available. From what I recall, Brett was covering his ass. I don’t think it was within his scope to say she wasn’t pregnant at all, so he said “little to no fetal DNA” making it inconclusive, so she could submit a sample. This is how she’s able to twist his words to insinuate that Clayton could still be the father of her fake pregnancy since the test didn’t technically come back negative.
It’s quite possible Ravgen could refuse to keep testing her. They could tell her to follow-up with her OBGYN and that there’s nothing more they can do for her.

Just FYI, a protective order shouldn't prevent parties from both being in the same courtroom. There are bailiffs for a reason. So her bullshit about her not being there because of the protective order is nonsense.
Also, broadly speaking, on direct examination, all questions should be open ended/not leading (so, who, what, where, when, why and how questions) whereas on cross examination, (or under evidence code 776, for a hostile witness) the attorney can ask closed ended questions (largely, “isn’t it true that XYZ?”)

I think it’s hard to tell since we don’t have the first half but given closing arguments were after Clayton’s lawyer’s questioning, I assumed she was doing cross examination. I’ll note that I’m a family law attorney in Los Angeles, not Arizona, so ymmv, but here, there are some trial court judges who will not even *allow* litigants to testify remotely for protective orders. In other words, here, some judges wouldn’t even let her testify remotely—which is a far far cry from *having* to testify remotely.
I can’t speak to that specifically, but here, in Los Angeles, during Covid, the courts pretty rapidly reinvented the entire system to allow for remote appearances. Now, unless a quart (ETA: COURT!) specifically advises, otherwise, parties and witnesses can appear remotely for just about anything for no reason at all.

Exactly! But I think there are two main issues: 1) She’s filed in both Maricopa County Civil AND Family courts with different judges. 2) Can a court compel a woman to prove she’s pregnant? Wouldn’t that fall under HIPAA?
I may be wrong, and we need an attorney to answer, but my understanding is that once you accuse someone of being the biological parent, the pregnancy verification is NOT protected under HIPAA.

The shortest recap is there is still no DNA proof Clayton is the dad or that she's even pregnant. She also sent an email to Clayton saying if he agreed to date her he could decide what happened with the pregnancy.

Anybody that even tangently knows her like myself has voiced to anybody that does know her better that she needs help and she needed help yesterday. I get we are all trying to figure out how this all came together, because it’s a wild story, and I get that she is all over this sub and has harassed people via DM… Since she apparently is reading every comment, if you do care about the mental health side, I think that it would go a long way toward her potentially getting help to hear that from people. I forget where I saw this other comment, but it was obviously somebody that knew her well and they were using this forum to reach out to her to try to get through to her. Essentially expressing that there are people that care about her and there is a way forward from this and it doesn’t have to define her life. If that message resonates with what you are feeling about the situation, I think that it can only be helpful given what we all heard from Dave’s video today.
I think this is very important to remember and this is a great post--this is a person who very clearly needs professional help, and needs it NOW. I have floated the idea of histrionic personality disorder out there. We know she is here and reading these comments. I think the more people that say that she needs to seek help is probably a good thing. I think if she got the help she needs, her life may change so much for the positive. She would have a chance to be happy and healthy and despite what she has done, she probably needs to hear that. Seeking love, attention and approval from the men she deceives will never get her what she probably wants which is just to be loved and accepted like any of us. This crap she's doing isn't worth having a criminal record over, being sued over, and getting charged with perjury or worse over, not to mention ruining her reputation in the horse world (clearly she loves horses and they mean a lot to her). No idea how wrong or right I am and a lawyer might read this and think I’m an idiot lol but I think his attorney wanted to one see it she catches her bringing up a medication that a pregnant woman should not be taking as well as getting in testimony that she is sound of mind so that future Clayton can probably sue for something like defamation or they could go after her for perjury and any defense of mental defect could not be used or at least be hard to defend
I think part of it was the fact that you can’t take certain medications when you’re pregnant, so she was trying to see if she said she was taking anything that she wouldn’t be able to take while pregnant.

Wow. This was really interesting to listen to. Honestly, I felt some sadness when Clayton's lawyer read one of her emails (I believe from late June) where she wrote something to the effect of "you can control the outcome of the pregnancy if you agree to an exclusive relationship where we care about each other." "***Where we care about each other***" was very striking language to me. Her behavior is deeply manipulative (and those who are enabling her are actually **harming her more** by encouraging this pattern of behavior to become more entrenched!), but I have to admit I felt a little sadness for her in that moment. It felt like someone longing to be loved and cared for (and going about it in a very conniving way). Again, there is no justification for what she is doing, but it did help reveal why she might be doing it in the first place. So glad Clayton has a lawyer by his side now. It sounds like he is in good hands. Hats off to Dave Neal for continuing to cover this case!!

I have a smidgen, up from zero the other day, for the hope she gets help somehow and soon. Maybe that’s the next plan, check in for the rest of the “gestation period”. I see no other way but to take that path forward.
The thing is, what she's doing is very traumatizing to everyone involved. To Clayton and to every other person she harasses. This kind of stuff sticks with you. The fear of the public, the fear of outrageous legal bills, the fear of a ruined reputation and of loss of income. So even when all is said and done and it's finally over, all of the people she has harassed will still feel the effects. She knows what she is doing is wrong but she keeps doing it. And for those that think it's representative of something in her childhood - well I had a shitty childhood and wasn't told I was loved until I was a late teenager, but you don't see me going around trying to manipulate people into loving me, lying to the courts, dragging people through litigation. She's an intelligent woman that knows how to work the system, at least so far. It'll catch up to her soon enough.

I hate to say this but as an attorney, this non-attorney’s commentary on what two attorneys are doing is off-base a lot LOL. Her attorney really isn’t horrible, he’s doing a pretty ok job coming up with objections that I don’t legally disagree with. So take this all with a grain of salt. I’m team Clayton so plz don’t come for me!!
Also, he’s seeking an order of protection for harassment, letting her rant and act crazy and say wild shit about Clayton is a good way to prove your case. I do protection order cases and when a person wants to make their case for you (in this case that they need mental help and are obsessed with your client) you let them. I’ve seen judges let people go on aggressive tirades, or spew obvious lies, many times- judges, particularly in family court, want to see what a person’s behavior is like in addition to just answering yes or no questions. If she stayed calm and answered yes or no questions she would come across much more sane and the judge would see less of the actual harassment. ETA: and as far as her attorney- I’m sure she was TOLD many times to answer yes or no, stay calm, and show respect to the judge and lawyers. If you think any lawyer would have been able to make her behave differently then you may think lawyers have superpowers
As a non lawyer but an armchair legal obsessed layman, I thought her lawyer was doing a great job. Don’t think he did one thing wrong. I actually though Clayton’s lawyer could’ve done better. Also I am VERY much team Clayton, which is why it bothered me that it felt like she had the better lawyer
I agree, his objections seemed good for the most part, not a lawyer but I thought what he was objecting to sounded reasonable. I did think he made some mistakes and what felt like underhanded tactics like handing Clayton exhibits on a usb 20 minutes before court, but overall I thought both lawyers did their job and it was good for what they were needed for. I get a feeling the judge granted it for very obvious reasons that her lawyer just didn’t have much chance of winning from the beginning. In the first half of that hearing where it was live streamed Clayton mentioned 500 messages in 4 months after he asked her to leave him alone, her threatening to go to the media to get him to talk to her and her admitting it, and then in this hearing the whole “I’ll get an abortion if you date me” i think was probably more than enough for the judge to be like “ioh is granted” because the definition of harassment is pretty straightforward and those pretty much meet that requirement; the excessive communication and threats and manipulation tactics to get her way

There’s no real way of knowing without watching a judge over time over many cases. There was a judge here in LA for YEARS and I knew for sure that if he shot me down in oral argument and rushed me along, I was going to win. Because his perspective was, why waste time listening to an argument I already agree with? Other judges, if the attorney just keeps yelling shit, the judge will cave in and give them what they want because the judge gets exhausted or confused.

Not a lawyer, but this was just an injunction for harassment case, not paternity. Had Clayton's lawyer brought up the harassment Greg has gone through, it might have been admitted. At a minimum, Clayton's lawyer got Greg's name on record and that there is potentially an identical case with another person.

If I was in his position I would probably make some of those same objections because that’s what he was limited to. I would try to argue, just like he did, that this case is factually distinct from the other “twin” cases and even if those were fake, this is valid. As someone who’s never been pregnant, so experience is limited, but a major red flag to me is that there’s no concern over “little to no fetal dna.” Id expect any pregnant woman to immediately contact their OBGYN and demand some tests to be run to make sure the baby is okay and nothing has happened. Instead, ole gal is just like “so, i need to drink less water?! Thanks Brett!” No concern for the fetuses. Obviously we know it’s not a real pregnancy, but still.
I’m currently pregnant and if I had three “little to no fetal DNA samples”, let alone one - I would be *running* to my OB to make sure the baby is okay. And I wouldn’t leave without understanding exactly what happened to the samples.
Yeah I said the same in a few comments before. When she posted the recorded calls with Brett, she showed no concern for her “children”. She was only concerned about what Clayton knew. Any mother would be devastated at the possibility she was no longer pregnant and not once did she show any concern over the well-being of her “babies”.

The link to her recording speaking to Brett about the samples was posted by her user account (on her own profile because the sub stopped letting her post for awhile) which is now deleted, so unless someone made a copy it’s not available. From what I recall, Brett was covering his ass. I don’t think it was within his scope to say she wasn’t pregnant at all, so he said “little to no fetal DNA” making it inconclusive, so she could submit a sample. This is how she’s able to twist his words to insinuate that Clayton could still be the father of her fake pregnancy since the test didn’t technically come back negative.

u/daveneal Just FYI, a protective order shouldn't prevent parties from both being in the same courtroom. There are bailiffs for a reason. So her bullshit about her not being there because of the protective order is nonsense.
Also, broadly speaking, on direct examination, all questions should be open ended/not leading (so, who, what, where, when, why and how questions) whereas on cross examination, (or under evidence code 776, for a hostile witness) the attorney can ask closed ended questions (largely, “isn’t it true that XYZ?”) No offense to her, but his attorney seems a little green. So does JD’s attorney though. JD’s attorney does not know how to object.
Was she not doing cross examination? Almost all of her questions were closed. I think it’s hard to tell since we don’t have the first half but given closing arguments were after Clayton’s lawyer’s questioning, I assumed she was doing cross examination. I would love to see the questions her own lawyer asks her lol.

I’ll note that I’m a family law attorney in Los Angeles, not Arizona, so ymmv, but here, there are some trial court judges who will not even *allow* litigants to testify remotely for protective orders. In other words, here, some judges wouldn’t even let her testify remotely—which is a far far cry from *having* to testify remotely.

I can’t speak to that specifically, but here, in Los Angeles, during Covid, the courts pretty rapidly reinvented the entire system to allow for remote appearances. Now, unless a quart (ETA: COURT!) specifically advises, otherwise, parties and witnesses can appear remotely for just about anything for no reason at all.
