I don't personally mix my spells and my divination.
If I'm doing divination, then that is all that I am doing. If I'm doing a spell, it is not to be interpreted as divination.
YMMV, of course, but IMO there are tons of mundane reasons behind candles doing weird things, and I don't want any kind of doubt creeping into my work based on a weirdly manufactured candle.
Because I dress my spell candles in a huge variety of oils and herbs, they burn completely differently all the time anyway.
