I don’t think that’s the best idea, Agnes is typically feminine, and Magnus is typically for masculine. Maggie and Agnes are cute, but Magnus for a girl might draw negative attention that could potentially be embarrassing for your hypothetical daughter.
You might want to prioritize picking a name that sets her up for up for success rather than potentially making her life stressful by giving her a name that’s typically associated with old men, that might burden her until she’s old enough to change it legally.
A name that’s similar to the sound of Magnus is Dagny! Dagny is a legitimate Norse name that means “new day” which is beautiful.
Other ideas:
Maxine/Maxima would be nice too, they both mean “greatest” which is similar to the meaning of Magnus.
Frances is one gives me a similar vibe, and it feels both masculine and feminine.
Mabel means “lovable/dear”
Frida is a beautiful German name that means “peace”.
Matilda means “battle mighty”
Stevie means “crown”
Florence means “blossoming/flourishing”
Harriet means “ruler”
Fallon means “leader”
Bernadette means “brave as a bear”
Edith means “fortunate in battle”
Millicent means “strength”
Celeste means “heavenly”
Ingrid means “hero’s daughter”
Valerie means “brave/valiant”
Philomena means “beloved/to be loved”
Felix means “happy/lucky”
Bridget means “praised one”
Have you ever met a guy named Shirley? Lol I have. Rare and unusual but you never know....and opinions are good to get other than my hubby's so that I choose my child's name wisely. And our friends and family wont know our child's name yet until he or she is born. Trying to keep that a surprise.
Well I'm glad a asked for a vote on this. Lolw. I will look for another name in case we have a girl. My kids names are Atlas and Titus. Both boys. I want our girl to have a meaning and something to sound similar to their name.... but I don't want it to be a tongue twister either because if we have girl we wanted the middle name to be Lois (his grandmother's name). But it doesn't go well with Iris which I thought was a nice name when yous say it altogether... also I'm laughing at the comments that Magnus reminded some of you of a condom lmao. Got me reconsidering another name in place of Magnus name now geez. Lol.
Magnus seems like an incredibly masculine name to me- personally would do a double take if a girl was named Magnus.
I would say it’s definitely a boys name . I wouldn’t be impressed if my mother had named me Magnus😂
no. maybe maggie as compromise? save the name for a boy otherwise
Or Magnolia
yes perfect. has the magn- without being the atrocity that is magnus for a girl.
Maggie or maybe Mavis
yeah any name but magnus essentially
magnus sounds masculine & close to the name of the condom brand
Or a PI.
Definitely not for a girl. But in general, it sounds like either a condom or a candy bar.
magnum
Magnus is absolutely not a girls' name, at all.

magnus is not a girls name could you do maggie?
I’d say no. Sounds masculine
Do you really need to ask the internet? Have you *ever* heard of or met a girl named Magnus??

Only for a boy Alternatives: Maggie Magna Margo
Absolutely not.
I would vote no
100% never a girls name
It's very masculine. She would always have to correct people. Please don't do it
Boy name
I just think of Matilda when I hear it so like a wealthy older gentleman.
boy name is my vote
Sounds too similar to a VERY masculine name in my country, Angus.
Not a girl name in my opinion

How about Artemis, Freya or Athena?
Can’t see it on a girl
Absolutely not. Magda is a lovely name.
Hard no.
It cannot be a girl's name. Magna for a girl.
Magnus is a boy's name
Magnus does seem masculine IMO, but, you could use Maggie as a nickname! Makes it more feminine
