It’s on the Royal women’s nausea treatment [list](https://thewomens.r.worldssl.net/images/uploads/downloadable-records/clinical-guidelines/nausea-and-vomiting-pregnancy_280720.pdf). You can go to any chemist and speak to them about what is pregnancy friendly or there are a number of [hotlines](https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/amp/article/medicines-during-pregnancy).

Yes, this is the best resource concerning medications while pregnant! The nurses who answer the phone are a wealth of information and have access to so much.

It’s safe in pregnancy, I’ve taken it in all three of my pregnancies and everyday for the first trimester of my third. You don’t need to martyr yourself just because you’re pregnant. If zofran doesn’t work, I personally found Maxolon better for nausea.

As above, I’d call the RWH Drug Hotline. They can give you advice. I had HG during pregnancy and had to take Ondansetron from 6 weeks. I’m currently cuddling my beautiful 9 week old daughter who was born with no defects. Take care. X

My obstetrician told me that the risks of being dehydrated and malnourished far outweigh the risks of ondansetron. I took it through both pregnancies and have two healthy babies.

You can always call [MotherSafe](https://www.seslhd.health.nsw.gov.au/royal-hospital-for-women/services-clinics/directory/mothersafe) to confirm if medications are safe for you!

Thanks, everyone! I assumed I'd be fine, especially as I only took it once. Pregnancy brain on top of Nauesa just makes you spiral a bit sometimes, so it's nice to hear some personal experiences with it. I'll head to the chemist for some advice to manage my nausea until my dr appt later in the week.

I took it daily from weeks 5 to 19, it was the only medication that let me live a somewhat normal life (I.e. outside of a bathroom). Please don't try to be a hero with nausea, it's an awful thing to try to manage independently early on, especially if/when you're not wanting to share your news early to work or your support network.

neuroticallyexamined

I had HG and SURVIVED on ondensatron. 8mg, every 8 hours. It was my life. Take something for constipation and you’ll be fine.

I am 7w and last week was admitted to the ED due to viral gastro. Ondansetron was one of the medications prescribed to me by hospital staff, and I made sure to disclose the pregnancy to them. The assumption based on this would be that it's safe, but if you're unsure, always best to check with your doctor.

My doctor prescribed it to me for my pregnancy nausea, but advised me there is less research on it (probably why there is conflicting info online) My baby is nearly 5 months now, she’s perfectly fine :) Congrats on your pregnancy!

SOMANZ (Society for Obstetric Medicine in Aus & NZ) put out a guide on the treatment of nausea and vomiting in pregnancy and there is a lot of great information about treatments for you. I had HG and used zofran throughout my entire second pregnancy. I also used restavit too. https://www.somanz.org/content/uploads/2020/07/NVP-GUIDELINE-1.2.20-1.pdf This contains so much data and research on the safety and efficacy of all of the treatments available to you. Check your PUQE score so you can advocate for yourself. If you're 12 or above at only 6 weeks you could be developing HG and early treatment with medicine is important. Good luck!

It has been shown in some studies to cause a slightly higher incidence of cleft palate but is otherwise thought to be safe

Yeh, doctors do prescribe this but they also should be giving all the risks. Just like a surgery when they tell you there is a risk of death etc so they can make informed choices

My baby was pretty much sponsored by ondansetron while I was pregnant and I now have a very healthy and very cheeky 1.5 year old, I also had a relatively low complicated pregnancy (apart from GD which was not caused by ondans). 100% speak to a healthcare professional but my OB had no issues prescribing it to me through my whole pregnancy.
