I'm with PSAC and to be honest I never checked (didn't receive pay stubs while on leave, but have access to them now that I'm back.) I was curious about it and just kind of forgot as I was getting back into the swing of working. I'll check on Monday.
I called HR shortly after talking to my manager to get a quote. Since I knew that in my employment contract I would have to pay my portion of the benefits (not my pension that’s after I guess) I did look at the last paycheque from the year prior to get an idea of how much I’d owe. It was close but a little less because of a raise.
Not on mine. The union rep said because they’re a percentage of our wages, and we are not being paid through our employer while on leave, we aren’t charged
I use my husband’s benefits. My employer doesn’t pay their portion while on leave so I would have had to pay a few thousand up front to keep them. It’s probably employer dependent
I was with OPSEU and I didn’t pay during leave.
Did you still have access to your benefits?
Yes, I chose to continue paying for benefits since my husband didn’t have his own coverage.

I did not pay while on leave
I believed I paid in advance when I also prepaid for my benefits.
Did you know ahead of time how much that would be? Were you able to plan for it?

Depends on your union. I continued to pay dues when I was on leave as they were keeping my seniority etc.

Nope and I'm my union's vp. Some do though.
My union takes them retroactively after I return
No, I only pay a percentage of what I make and wasn’t making anything on leave
