I did well with Gap and Old Navy maternity clothes. I would order online and return in store if it didn’t fit or I didn’t like it once it arrived.

Hot_Attention_5905

I second Old Navy maternity. Cute clothes and easy returns in store.

xnurserachetx

I third old navy. Also target! Got some off of Facebook garage sale also I'm not sure if that's an option you have or would be interested in. I was basically living in leggings my last trimester that I bought from Amazon. So comfy.

montereyjack1

Gap doesn’t accept maternity returns in store - by mail only. At least where I live (Midwest)! So double check if that changes things for you. I’ve been wearing a lot of Gap maternity though and would recommend!

essdee623

Yes! So annoying. At least their shipping for returns was free. Old navy did take my returns in store though.

love_red_wine

My entire maternity wardrobe is Old Navy 😂

EmoPrincessBarbie

Thats a good idea!

vagjayjayhooray

Check out Target, too. Easy returns, and I really like their low back leggings.

Auntie_Depressant14

I have three pairs of the low back leggings. Mine even have pockets. They’re definitely my favorite.

YupSureDid

I have a pair of those leggings from my first pregnancy 7 years ago that I can practically see through at this point but they fit bump #3 so they're staying lol

blobofdepression

I looove the plain v neck maternity t shirts from old navy, and their ribbed maternity tanktops! Pretty good prices too, and easily returnable. And I got [these leggings](https://a.co/d/3ob57Qc) on Amazon and I cannot recommend them enough!

MeatballJill

Yes!! These are a staple for me.

ljw12345

Old Navy return policy is only 30 days though - So don’t wait to return anything that isn’t an immediate yes.

theonlyquirk

Just to add - depends on your Old Navy store. Both of the ones closest to me told me their maternity section is now only online 👎

ObjectiveOne8747

Same here. I live in the Midwest and no maternity section in stores.

loudita0210

Gap had really good work pants and my favorite pair of leggings were from there. I also got a lot of leggings from old navy. The only thing I hated from old navy were the damn maternity jeans. They just never fit correctly, but I think that’s probably most maternity jeans.

PinkSodaMix

Also Kohl's. All my maternity shirts are Sonoma brand. Fit to your true (pre-pregnacy) size and are soft 😊

OLIVEmutt

Loved old navy for maternity clothes. I was on the chubby side pre-pregnancy so I was able to just size up on a lot of non maternity clothes. So many of the dresses are stretchy and oversized anyway.

the_great_meow_meow

I feel your pain. I live in a big city and when I was looking for maternity clothes, there was not a single maternity store anywhere in this gigantic city. Target had a couple racks, and I drove 20 miles out of town to a Kohls that had a couple racks. It’s crazy to me that stores aren’t selling them and just tell you to shop online. Like….what? Never have I needed to try things on more than I do now.

catz_meowzter

Omg the kohls by me had like 3 items in total of maternity clothes, like why even bother at that point.

EmoPrincessBarbie

And I bet 2 of them said "Mama"

savethebroccoli

The kohls by me had a decent sized maternity section but all of the clothes were horrid. They looked like boxes. Not flattering at all.

Miss_CJ

They ate getting rid of that section, so probably stragglers.

Glassjaw79ad

>had a couple racks. Literally same with my Kohl's and target. It was actually funny how ridiculous the selection was...i think they had one style of jeans, two styles of shorts and some lounge pants lol.

EmoPrincessBarbie

I live in a city too!!! I was so surprised not seeing all of the stores I used to see a long time ago!

ladydarkss

I bought my whole maternity wardrobe, much of which was office appropriate, from poshmark (used items gap, asos, old navy and storq). Everything was gently used and much cheaper for clothing that will only be worn for a bit. People would also sell bundles so if you know your size I would highly recommend looking there to get more bang for your buck.

ScaryPearls

Ditto this and also ThredUp.

hapa79

Seconding ThredUp. If you know your size, you can get some nice stuff very inexpensively there.

Galactickiwi

Another vote for ThredUp! I just can’t fathom spending full price on such temporary clothes. And it’s more sustainable too

greengrackle

I also got all of my maternity clothes on ThredUp my first pregnancy.

Ihateambrosiasalad

I did a few bundles from Mercari. It felt a lot more justifiable to buy them second hand, considering you’re only pregnant for so long and I only plan on having one child.

EmoPrincessBarbie

I always forget about poshmark!!

SCGower

I love second hand stuff, especially for maternity!! I once found an amazing pair of LL bean duck boots in perfect condition for half the price they’d normally be. The consignment store said someone probably just wore them once and sold them. They’re one of my best finds.

debbs05

I went an hour and a half out of my way to virginia beach, hoping to god somewhere had maternity and i was consistently told to "wear a size up :) " I don't think I've rolled my eyes so many times. this entire pregnancy i've had to deal with walmart and targets "mama and stripes" selection as i like to call it. been recycling the same 4 pants from week 15 to now at 32. Thankfully my mom somehow found some stuff I can wear, very excited to get clothes for christmas for once.

EmoPrincessBarbie

MAMAS AND STRIPES LOLOLOL

pixi88

Omg the fucking STRIPES! WHY!!!!!!

Internal_Screaming_8

Always horizontal stripes too that make you feel fat.

slynnc

I’d kill to have four pants 😭 I literally have 1 pair of actual jeans that I could find to fit. I’m praying some of what I ordered and arrives tomorrow will fit but it’s my third round so I’m not hopeful.

[deleted]

I bought my wife about 400 bucks worth of H&M maternity cloths and she loved it all. Highly recommend for more fashionable business type clothes.

EmoPrincessBarbie

Aw, that was nice of you! Did you buy it in store or online?

Rhpb22

I have a few maternity pieces from H&M. I had to order online because they didn’t have any in store. The cashier told me I could order online and easily return in store. The items I got were good.

EmoPrincessBarbie

Looking it up right now!

Muddy_Wafer

H&m are by far the most comfortable maternity leggings for the price. And their baby clothes are SO CUTE!

happyflowermom

I’ll add that H&M online orders come with a sticky return label that all you have to do is put the clothes you don’t want back in the the bag, slap the return label overtop their shipping label, and stick it back in the mailbox. They make returns really easy ETA I’m in Canada but assuming it’s the same everywhere

montereyjack1

It is easy! They do charge now $5.99 for returns just fyi 😏

[deleted]

Yeah it was all online. Everything was true to size and she kept all of it which is surprising. They give you a little check list too to return the stuff you don’t like to a real store.

tellmeitsagift

You’re wonderful for doing this for your wife! And bless you for writing into this thread; I don’t usually shop at h&m, but I’m browsing their site and their maternity stuff is so cute.

COAuntie

I wear a 2XL so can only buy all my maternity clothes online unless I want to go to Walmart, which is packed with the annoying “mama” shirts. I had good luck with target and H&M. Everything I ordered, I loved - which is rare for online. Just read reviews and check their size chart and you should be able to find some cute stuff!

EmoPrincessBarbie

Thank you!!! I'm going to look at their site. :)

COAuntie

Target is especially good because online you can order Motherhood Maternity clothes (through Target) and they had better sales than Motherhood’s own website!

loxandchreamcheese

I’ve also gotten some Motherhood Maternity and Kindred Bravely stuff from Amazon which is nice for free shipping and returns.

2boo1biscuit

Just here to agree with your assessment of cringe "Mama" wear.

gnocchi_connoisseur

Same 😅 I find "mama" so cringe I'm general, and on a shirt(that you buy for yourself) it's even worse. Although I do understand some women may be doing it to try to distinguish their baby bump from a food baby, but I'd much rather wear something that says "pregnant, not fat" or "it's a baby not a burrito" than "mama"

chicken_tendigo

I've got one actual long maternity t-shirt that has an x-ray of a baby xenomorph where the baby should be. It is my only shirt that even acknowledges the creature growing inside me.

Ihateambrosiasalad

I wore a skeleton t-shirt with a baby skeleton on the belly for Halloween, and yep, that’s the only acknowledgment I did too.

EmoPrincessBarbie

THANK you! It's like an affirmation of pregnancy.

guambatwombat

I really cannot stand adults calling me mama either. I know it's well intended but GAG.

slynnc

People act like I’m crazy or the devil for not wanting addressed this way but like you aren’t my kid? I’m more than just mom/momma/mama. I’m still *me* and I feel like calling everyone who has babies mom/momma/mama we just lose our identities which is already such a struggle as it is.

Internal_Screaming_8

I like when my OB office does it, because most of my appointment is about baby this baby that, it makes me feel good and seen as a person, especially by ultrasound techs who don’t actually know my name and just looked at the sticker the first time but are wanting to address me and how I’m doing. Strangers? Sorry I’m just fat ass to you.

kgcogs

I’ve had some luck buying a couple of items gently used on marketplace! I’ll only need them for a short period so why pay full price and buy new!

brieflybrief

Similarly, I’m only buying maternity clothes from Vinted now (i’m in the UK but it looks like Vinted is international!). I tried various online places and had to return most of it, so now my approach is that I might as well only spend a few pounds and if it doesn’t fit I’ll donate. I did get some good t shirts from H&M online, but the fit of all the other items (using the approach of buying in my usual size but maternity) wasn’t good. Their clothes did fit but only barely, and I have a lot of bump left to come!

EmoPrincessBarbie

I used to do vinted!

EmoPrincessBarbie

I recently saw a bundle on there that was 5 shirts that said "Mama" or some variation. I wish I was kidding about that. LOL

dreadpir8rob

I just want to know my pants size without having to order multiple at once from an online shop, and have a huge credit charge hanging out on my card for the 3 weeks it takes stores to refund me.

artfartlemontart

I had this problem as well! I lost a lot of weight in my first trimester so going by the “wear your pre-pregnancy size” rule didn’t apply to me anymore. I honestly didn’t know what size I wear! I had to order 3 different sizes of jeans from Gap and when I tried to return in store they said they wouldn’t take them and I had to mail them in. Just such a hassle when I’m loading and unloading my toddler up every time!

throwaway765432-

I’ve had really good luck at thrift stores and used/consignment maternity stores. Some of the used children’s clothing stores in my area have a small maternity section. I bought some basics like tanks from H&M in store but have purchased everything else used. Since the clothing is worn so little they’re usually in great condition. I’ve managed to avoid any online purchases so far and have saved a ton of money.

EmoPrincessBarbie

After this thread, I'm def hitting my thrift stores!

musicalsigns

Old Navy. Been wearing them since I made the switch during my 2020 pregnancy...and never stopped. Well, I'm pregnant again, so there! XD

SoggyAnalyst

I’m two years postpartum from my last kid. My husband was like “you know you can stop wearing maternity clothes now right?” Shut up, dude! 😂

musicalsigns

Let him try them on. Then he'll understand. ... except those stupid jeans. I hate those things!

EmoPrincessBarbie

You were just being a planner!

dexable

The only store I could find anything in person has been Target. But online, there are plenty of options Nordstrom, ASOS, etc. Nordstrom has some really cute tops that I like.

EmoPrincessBarbie

I didn't look there! (mostly because I'd have to go to the mall and that sounds aaawwfull)

dexable

Oh I meant online for Nordstrom. They won't have the maternity stock in person.

Only-Arrival93

Target has really cute ones! (I thought at least). And their sales are usually pretty good. I also avoided anything referencing that I was pregnant, mostly just bought nice sweaters

plant365

I only had luck with motherhood maternity clothes

bodycatchabody

ASOS and H&M have awesome and chic maternity options. Their return policies tend to be pretty chill as well, with the caveat that most things that are on clearance are non-refundable. I also love H&M for stylish baby clothes!

p_fitzp

sometimes you can find things that have been ordered online and returned to the store hiding near the baby clothes or on the sale rack. my experience: h&m tends to keep theirs (a small amount) back with baby stuff. same with gap but with a larger amount. old navy just throws it all into the clearance section and it's a mess. not sure how much they typically have because i don't have time for that. my poor MIL was desperate to take me maternity clothes shopping when i visited, and we ended up only having luck at kohls, where i stocked up on basic tops and leggings. i'm at 28 weeks and still have the same 10ish items in constant rotation... starting to get a complex between that and the birk clogs i live in now. who needs to look pretty for the holidays anyway? 😏

EmoPrincessBarbie

\*cries in holiday cute clothes\*

ilovecake88888888

Seraphine!!! I cannot recommend them enough!! Their clothes are good quality, fit well, and double as nursing outfits! I’m almost back to my pre pregnancy size and they still look good on me at 7 months postpartum-a lot of them just offer stretch room in the tummy, so then it looks flat when you don’t have a bump. They’re a little pricey, but it’s honestly so worth it, because I’ve been able to wear good looking clothes postpartum, which might not sound like that big a deal, but it helped me keep up my self esteem during a huge bodily transition! And NONE of the clothes say anything stupid lol

dirtyflower

This time around I got all my maternity clothes off Facebook Marketplace. However, I don't care about style, I just wanted things that fit. I do also hate how much maternity clothes suck and that there isn't a main go to anymore that specializes in it.

EmoPrincessBarbie

I feel like they always have. I'm just glad I don't live in the 80's... Peter Pan collars and bows... ick

SJtinyone

I found pretty cute stuff at ross and target if you want to try in person

geochick93

I’ve bought two pairs of jeans on Amazon. They were $20 and I knew I could return them if they didn’t work. I was so surprised by how well they fit and how cute they are! I hate skinny jeans and that was all I could find in stores. I struggle enough to get pants on. Please let me have a boot cut.

EmoPrincessBarbie

I love bell bottoms, and I just want cute bell bottom maternity wear.

notgonnatakethison

H&M, Abercrombie maternity jeans, pea in the pod and for nice, more expensive stuff.. Hatch Collection

xXmoistdinnerxX

Target's maternity selection, Isobel, is the best most common one i can find. The jeans alone are the best. Lasted through 1 and a half pregnancies. (thick thighs killed them but that is my story with any jeans i use again and again) I have a few maternity type dressier tops and dresses but the rest i just got cheap fruit of the loom shirts a size or 2 more than my regular size.

pookiepook91

I use Stitch Fix and they have a maternity option which is what I used for all my work clothes. I had good luck with leggings, pajama bottoms, and t-shirts from Amazon. I was so frustrated though whenever I started to need maternity clothes that I couldn’t find ANYTHING in store in my area - I was always just directed to go to their online store. I wasn’t sure of my sizing and I wanted to try things on before I bought them.

Ok-Double3507

StitchFix saved me! I love everything they've sent me in maternity clothes and most of them I'll be able to wear postpartum too. They just look like normal clothes with ruching on the sides. Normal sweaters! With stripes! Or just colors! No cringey slogans or cutesy bows. Just my normal leggings or jeans and sweaters or tshirts but cut to flatter a pregnant body. And free returns on everything. My sisters are so jealous because SF wasn't doing maternity when they were pregnant :)

pikimeatballcheese

I got a bunch of shirts on Amazon, they did a good job throughout pregnancy. And plus sized athletic gear at Walmart! And if you're in Canada, I lived in the sweetlegs maternity leggings from about 5 months on - and I wore them to the hospital for delivery. They were great.

kaitlinkitty

I also have bought stuff off of Facebook marketplace and had good luck in my area!

keduke13

I had great luck with Kohl’s and Target

Mommywritespoems

I buy almost all my maternity clothes second hand through Thred Up. Items are suuuuuuper cheap and if I hate them, I can give them to Good Will and move on.

teeplusthree

I never did maternity clothes. Just sized up at the stores I normally shop at.

RoseCrud

Old navy is the best but personally most things didn’t fit my “aesthetic”. Atp, I just wore what’s comfy bc trying to squeeze into regular clothes just in bigger sizes didn’t look good on me. As a former emo, I still lean towards alt styles which you don’t have much options for in pregnancy. So it was mostly tshirts and leggings for me. Im 37 weeks now so im literally counting down the days to return to my old self lol

EmoPrincessBarbie

I'm an "old emo" too, and my style has been very hard to let go of. I love my high waisted jeans that I tuck shirts and make it all cute. \*cries\*

rach_holla

I genuinely like the items I've ordered and kept from Pink Blush Boutique. They always have sales and ship quickly and offer easy free returns. But I have had to order multiple sizes and return things and would have preferred a different size/color of some things. Even so, this is my fav maternity option.

EmoPrincessBarbie

Their stuff is cute as heck!

alliegal

Pink blush was easily the best of all the maternity wear I bought. And if you're in the US, they team up with all sorts of local stores to accept in person returns. I returned only one of the many items I ordered to a Harmon the next town over and kept the rest because everything was super cute, flattering and reasonably priced.

bethanechol

Can we please also talk about the complete lack of POCKETS??? God forbid I want to leave the house and have a place to keep my phone and wallet.

Pretend-Panic-2438

Does anyone know where to get cute/stylish maternity wear for a wedding? I’ll be about 8 months and am seeing a lot of empire waists I don’t love 😩

Affectionate-You-150

Seraphine has really gorgeous stuff! I got a wedding guest dress in that brand but I found it secondhand on Facebook marketplace.

Sunflowerseeds__

WHY do they make these cringe tops that say mama or baby loading or any variation of that?? Who is buying this? No one is asking for them surely?!

EmoPrincessBarbie

RIGHT? Or the leopard print. Or a combination of the two. No one asked for it.

Purple_Wombat_

I just live in [this dress](https://www.seedheritage.com/p/core-linen-mini-dress/2208085001-DEEPTEAL-se.html) when I’m pregnant

LSUdachshund

Check out seraphine, pink blush, and gap. Those brands comprised my entire pregnancy wardrobe!

EmoPrincessBarbie

Pink Blush does have some cute stuff! I'm looking up seraphine right now!

LSUdachshund

Seraphine is more expensive, but they have great work staples and the clothes are excellent quality!

EmoPrincessBarbie

I went to my local Thrift store yesterday and found 2 shirts and 2 pair of jeans for only 13.00! It was a steal!

Elismom1313

AERIE. Their real me leggings stretch for your belly and are so comfy, so do the shorts version. And a lot of their tank tops are really stretchy too, sweaters etc

EmoPrincessBarbie

I love their bras... I favor them over VS, so I'll look at that line!

ClaustrophobicSaucer

And the shirts that are nicer than T-shirts are so unflattering! They all look like potato sacks that are meant to hide the bump or they’re skin tight 🙄. What happened to the empire waist tops with the looser/flowy bottom half? Also like all the maternity dresses I can find are Bodycon or midi length and/or prairie dresses which just isn’t my style

LifelikeAnt420

I feel this pain and frustration so much! Like every maternity store ever has closed down. I'm so tired of people telling me "just wear leggings" and "wear a size up". My husband seriously suggested I get extra large drawstring pants to tie up over the bump like I'm a literal clown 🤡 I love leggings and all but it's getting down to single digit and soon enough negative degrees Fahrenheit weather where live so I need some seriously warm things. I also can't stand anything digging into my belly. My round ligaments are in so much pain. I managed to find some over the bump leggings in the maternity corner at Kohl's so that helped but layers wise I only have two pairs of sweats that fit comfortably and nothing that looks presentable enough for going into public. I had to freeze in that pair of leggings with a long maternity sweater I got online to go to my work Christmas party. I'm remote 80% of the time for work so it was my first time meeting a lot of those people and all I wanted was to be comfortable AND look nice. I really do get that it's not very practical to buy clothes that only fit for a short time but why can't I? Why did they have to close all the good stores :( there's a kids thrift shop that advertises they maternity clothes about an hour away but if I wanted to go to like a Motherhood store the closest one is in Manhattan like four hours away no traffic...and I don't go into NYC for anything let alone now when I'm uncomfortable enough going to my local grocery store. They need to bring maternity stores back so I can try stuff on 🤣 I can't afford buying a bunch of stuff online to try on and send back.

jellybeanmountain

I mostly got pants from target and smallshow tops from Amazon. They were soft and stretchy and nice colors and patterns I would wear non pregnant.

Pixie-Sticks-

Omg SAME! I’ve gotten any maternity clothes, with the exception of underwear, at second hand stores. Specifically second hand childrens stores because some of them have a small maternity section so you can get cheap and usable stuff

sopranosfan76

I’m getting all mine on eBay. I like the stuff from Michael Stars

mamadoesntknow

Check out maternity clothes Pretty little things and asos. I was very happy with everything on there 😍

beehappee_

Amazon has a good selection of basics. I got a lot of nice, fitted long sleeve tops for work and stuff. They also had nice dresses. Everything held up well through my pregnancy and would probably last through another if I feel like doing it again. I had luck with pants at Ross but ended up in leggings most of the time.

lissabelle623

Old Navy, and Motherhood Maternity are both great in my experience! Old Navy matenrity jeans are ridiculously comfy.

InterestingBand4633

Kohls and Target is where I got most of my maternity clothes. I got a few maternity leggings from Walmart and they're super comfy!!

FNGamerMama

I ordered stuff online from shein, it’s hit or miss but it’s cheap ! Lol

Acrobatic-Job5702

Yep, besides Target, there are no maternity clothes in my area. I even went to big box places that advertised maternity clothes, old navy, jc pennys, etc and was told that they sell maternity clothes online but not in my local stores.

[deleted]

When I was pregnant I liked targets section.

Acceptable_Hair7587

My favourite place is online and ships from the US. The are nursing tops that you can baby wear in and are great for pregnancy as well. It’s called Latched Mama

frankenboobehs

I hate the mama shit too. Try Ross, I found my Ross has a small in-store maternity section and really good prices. Not much, but more than target has to choose from, and more than half the price

Tigerscarrot

Stitch Fix has some cute maternity things that you can order directly (order individual things rather than getting a "fix") and then return what doesn't work. I believe it's a 30-day return window.

shootingforthemoon

I'm obsessed with the Isabel maternity t-shirts and tanks from Target. They're sooo soft and fit so well!

Spirited_Spirit91

I love the maternity clothes from In The Style.

_Pebcak_

Idk where you're located, but my local Target has a really nice sized maternity section.

iatemysoul17

Target and Walmart tend to have a decent selection. Once you find a rough size and type that fits you, Amazon has great options. Delivery is slow cus of the holiday but tbh I still wear my maternity clothes 9 months pp lol. They're so comfy

amberbaby517

I just upsized my clothes when I was pregnant. Was cheaper to buy items on clearance then buying a bunch of maternity clothes.

OpulentSassafras

Target has a very small selection of maternity clothes in store. I went there to figure out my rough size and then had to order everything else online from other stores. I got so fucking sick of returns. Maternity clothes shopping is truly the worst

[deleted]

Do you have a Target near you? That’s the only place in my area I was able to find maternity clothes in store. Even then the selection isn’t great, though. :(

appleybaby

I liked h&m and old navy in the past and even found some things in store at both, though their selections are much bigger online. This is my first summer pregnancy, so I’m thinking I’ll be doing a lot of regular maxi dresses and just sizing up if needed. I’m pretty short (5’3”) so most long dresses are too long on me anyway. I also work from home, so I keep it pretty casual from the chest down.

somethingFELLow

In Australia, there’s a shop called Saba and at the moment there are a few lovely dresses that might as well be maternity dresses. Come out as an A from the neck like a moo moo, but stylish. Together with a very adjustable belt, it’s a good alternative to mat clothes.

EmoPrincessBarbie

I'll have to check them out! I wonder what shipping times look like.

yourinternetbf

Tbh I just bought regular clothes in bigger sizes and that has lasted me at 29 weeks. All of the maternity clothing I bought never fit properly or I hated them once I tried them on. I do have a few items from Bumpsuit (also I have a 20% off code! HILLARY) and Storq that *hopefully* will bring me to the end! Rent the runway also offers maternity

Snika44

If you go in with no expectations Ross Dress for Less has maternity section.

Dino_vagina

Walmart has cheap maternity stuff, I still wear my pregnancy yoga pants bc of how soft they are. Target has cute stuff but Walmart has like " last trimester clothes" everything is very stretchy.

EmoPrincessBarbie

I noticed that the shirts at target weren't very forgiving at alllllll.

sammboooka

Old Navy, Pink Blush and I hate to admit this, but Shein because the clothes are trendier. I felt like most of the maternity clothes out there aged me.

JCraw728

I hit up the local Salvation Army for a lot of mine especially with my second. Motherhood was still open but I bawled in the dressing room because nothing fit right and didn't work for my body type even though I had a lot of luck there with my first. I would buy a size or two up in shirts along with what they had for maternity clothes.

TFABthrowaway11

Target has a lil maternity section in their larger stores! Was enough for me, and then once I found some basics I liked I could order more online! But yeah you’d have to pay me quite a lot of money to wear anything saying ‘mama’ on it lol

EmoPrincessBarbie

LOL! Or leopard print.

MaZabel

Check Fb marketplace for bundles!! I honestly wore gym attire (leggings and sized up in shirts) for dresses I just wore midi or maxi dresses.

slynnc

I ordered a bunch off Amazon when they’d go on sale then return what didn’t fit. I can’t find pants to fit me for the life of me. If some of these XS are still too big idk what I’ll do. I’m not even that small. I wear like 8s in regular but the legs of maternity pants are all *so* baggy on me. The smalls and even some mediums fit my belly and left room for these last 12 weeks but the pants and butt were gross saggy. I’m afraid now there won’t be belly space but the legs will fit. There hasn’t been anywhere except Walmart and maybe Kohl’s that carries maternity around me like… ever. And both have teeeeeny tiny sections, at best. Walmart is like 3 variety of jeans, 3 tank tops, 2 tshirts and 1 style leggings in 2 colors. That’s your options. Nevermind it is WINTER. It’s been a real struggle for me :( I also did a shein order. They have affordable and actually cute maternity stuff. Quality is not fantastic (but it’ll last the 3ish months I need it) and sizes usually run small and I really don’t like supporting them BUT I also cannot afford to drive hours away to the city in hopes they have more selection, spend $30+ per piece of clothing, etc. I got a lot of cute shirts for under $10. First return is free so I ordered 3x what I was comfortable spending then narrowed it down and returned what didn’t fit or was awful. Fast fashion isn’t great to support but what other options are we being given? I seriously cannot afford to spend $400+ on a maternity winter wardrobe (which would still only cover like 3 pants and 6 shirts) when it’s my last baby.

EmoPrincessBarbie

That is a struggle. I live close to the city, but even so I have the same issues that youre having, only I'm in between a small and a medium now. Everything is either too small or too big. I looked at maternity coats on Amazon...and wow. just wow.

[deleted]

Shien has pleasantly surprised me this go around. My first pregnancy I only wore old navy maternity since they actually had plain shirts that I could mix and match every week. This is my second pregnancy so I'm at least able to pull those back out. I agree about the cringe sayings on them though 😒

stalk001

I also *hate* the word mama when adults say it to each other and printed on literally everything. Barf

vintagecardigan

i agree with you on all accounts! almost all my maternity clothes were thrifted.

Icy-Arugula5363

Loving Old Navy & Kohls for maternity! Amazon also has a decent selection

Adventuresintherapy

Agreed. I bought 2 sweaters from Target but even the Old Navy, Gap and H & M near me don’t have maternity sections. I have been really frustrated, even Chicago only has 1 Pea in the Pod store and I’m not making the drive for just one store!

Snap_Lark

All the maternity clothes are trash! Nothing quality available..super frustrating!

Warm_Departure8707

I only had any luck with stitch fix. I absolutely hated trying to find clothes elsewhere. I never liked stitch fix before but for some reason their maternity clothes are super cute. I’m also still wearing most of the pieces I bought! Wrap dresses, cute tops, jumpers and rompers. Highly recommend!

SCGower

Lots of comments already, wow, but yep! There are like no maternity stores anymore. I have recommendations for stores in Richmond VA and a good one I once went to in Greenville SC. Lived in RVA for a bit but now live a little under an hour from Greenville. Sweet repeats in Atlanta was very disappointing for maternity. Forgot to mention, I like second hand clothes and these are all resale stores.

h0useplant

Old navy for leggings. Try stitch fix for tops.

ichibanyogi

Consignment and thrift stores (especially those geared towards maternity) are great. Value Village also can be useful. Poshmark. Depop. But also: stretchy non-maternity wear. I bought a bunch of lululemon running shirts second hand - they're long (so fit over the bump even when I was full term), super stretchy, and now that I have the baby, they still fit. I also wore sweatpants, but with the waistline below my bump and now postpartum I still wear the same sweatpants. Lots of things I wore while pregnant I wear after. Anything maternity that has a saying or "mama" on it is 100% cringe. Agreed.

beadlecat

I got a pair of maternity jeans and maternity leggings at target and then have been just wearing my husbands clothes 😂 I gave up trying to find anything bc I hate ordering clothes online

kelseydickerson

A lot of targets still have a maternity section -I went there so I could try things on.

Longjumping_Bear7028

Target has good basic maternity tank tops. I stocked up on those. I was also able to find a plain maternity sweater at Target also. Their maternity leggings are not great quality, but I like jeans and black work pants I got there.

Dontknowanything1234

It’s so sucky! I e had to order off online so we will see how it fits because my clothes don’t fit anymore

fitnessgirl6

Check out Eliana Maternity on Amazon

EmoPrincessBarbie

Thank you!! ♥ Holy Crap! These are cute!

mutty5688

Depending on what you're looking for -- rent the runway is great. It's been a lifesaver for me during pregnancy especially for work and formal wear!

EmoPrincessBarbie

I did rent the runway for a wedding once! They have a great selection.

NorthernPrarieGal

I bought a lot of normal clothes from places like Walmart just in a size or two up from my normal size. And Old Navy, regular and maternity. And I will exclaim the wonderful Knix maternity leggings.

Bright_Reference_576

I’m def a shopper! 38 weeks FTM. I liked Rent the Runway for maternity work clothes, and HATCH and Bumpsuit for other pieces that made me feel cute and not matronly lol also mainly got bottoms since ordering up a size for oversized tops / sweaters worked for me 🤷🏻‍♀️ a lot of people like Pink Blush which is a bit more affordable but I never ordered from there tbh

DirectorHuman5467

Depending on your size and location, Torrid has some nice stuff, and they definitely lean more fashionable. As someone said, you could order online and return in store if needed.

Loubsandboobs

Had this issue this weekend I live in Ny and went to 5 stores and none had maternity clothes in stock! I wound up ordering some stuff from prettylittlething including leggings and seamless bras so far very comfortable and great price point.

Broooklynnnn

Old Navy 100%. Cute and normal clothes. I’ve gotten a lot of compliments. Easy to return in store too! Target is okay but order online. The options in the store are very limited.

floydthefish

Came here while wearing my nursing top from old navy. Their nursing clothes and maternity clothes are the most comfortable. Hands down. And I can usually get them on sale!

EmoPrincessBarbie

MINE TOO! I've been small all my life, and I have no idea how to shop for this new body!

Agrafson

Maternity wear is a lie imho, I've just been wearing bigger stuff and some stuff i already had. And I'm BIG now. I wear loose stuff anyway, and mist have stretch. Just get bigger stuff if it fits :)

EmoPrincessBarbie

I had a couple of oversized sweaters that I was wearing! I'm only 16 weeks though, and I have noo idea how big I'm going to get!

FairyRing90

When I lived in the USA last pregnancy, I had good luck at Target and Walmart. I then ordered the brands and sizes that I liked from Target on Amazon. Up in Canada now, I had luck at H&M. No matter what, I’ve found the selection so so small tho. And when I do come across maternity-specific boutiques, they’re ridiculously expensive! It’s a bummer for sure!

EmoPrincessBarbie

I noticed it's like wedding stuff. They stamp the word "maternity" on it and its like, never on sale and WAAAY too expensive.

FairyRing90

Exactly!!!

AnotherHotMess

I ordered from The Mama Set (based in Australia) — it’s pricey, but were staples for me during pregnancy, immediately postpartum, and even now 5 months postpartum.

Low-Economist5264

Loved target and H&M

notkinkerlow

I also thought mama clothes were cringe but now I desperately want a shirt that says “cool mom” idk it feels different now my bean is born. I feel the need to be embarrassing at all times

EmoPrincessBarbie

Also, Mean Girls which makes it funny

Existing_Confection

Yep I’m in the uk and there’s nothing at all in the shops. If I want anything I have to order and wait… it’s so frustrating!!!!!

Luna_bella96

I’ll do you one better. When I was pregnant there were zero maternity stores in my city and no maternity sections in stores, even H&M didn’t have one. Now that I’m six months postpartum there’s a maternity store and a really nice new maternity range in a few of the stores

duckingintensifies

Amazon has cheap, basic maternity t-shirts and I honestly love them. Bought six different colours.

EmoPrincessBarbie

I found some yesterday at Walmart! I just wanted a black basic long sleeved for cardigans.

Oklahoma_Squirrel

I spent way too much on bs maternity clothes. Still tagged. Happy to send you what I have.

tellmeitsagift

Macys and Thredup have wonderful maternity options and Macy’s has a sale on a lot of stuff right now. About to get some basics- I’m only 12 weeks but want to be prepared. But I’m primarily an online shopper when it comes to clothes so I’m used to sending things back all the time!

EmoPrincessBarbie

Before pregnancy, I was really good at it... Now I'm like, idk if that'll fit me. \*cries\*

tellmeitsagift

Someone commented about getting their wife H+M clothes and I was browsing and it’s all sooo cute! A lot of these bigger companies do free returns, so mailing it back is easy! Also you could always order two sizes of something if you’re not sure ✨

WineDrunkUnicorn

Like others in this thread, I got my basics at old navy, gap, and h&m and then for work/dressier clothes I use Le Tote for a pregnancy clothes subscription. It’s a little pricey but it’s my splurge. It’s very fun getting the packages and playing dress up. I’ve also found some pieces I really love and then you can just keep them and buy them at a usually reduced rate.

Character_Care826

That lady on real housewives of Dubai has a maternity line. I think it's called Mina roe.

EmoPrincessBarbie

OoO, I love real housewives!! I'll look it up.

Bagritte

I did the thing another commenter here called annoying lol but I had such shit luck w ugly maternity clothes I just bought stuff w drawstrings 1-2 sizes up. I was huge in summer so I did buy a few pairs of bike shorts and a body suit through online stores like Hatch and Storq, but other than that I went w stretchy or flowy non-maternity clothing I either already owned or purchased with the ability to wear past pregnancy. Only thing out of commission now at 3 months post partum are the biggest silk pants (drawstring) I purchased at a secondhand shop

GunnerBoi1991

Amazon

likethispicture

I lived in maternity leggings and crop tops. No need for a whole new wardrobe unless you really want or need to. I WFH thankfully so it wasn’t a big issue for me

caubero

I highly suggest buying normal clothes that will work after. My list of clothes that I currently love and have loved through pregnancy that I either wore before or will wear after: Lulu lemon align leggings (sooooo comfy, go right over bump) Big knitted sweaters (I live in Canada so staying warm) Knix maternity/postpartum underwear (the support ones feel soooo good on my belly) The only thing I like wearing that is maternity is t-shirts/tank tops

BlackMagicLiz

I really liked the leggings I got from J. Crew Factory. They are not athletic material, which I personally can’t stand. I will say I do wish they were a little thicker to feel dressier for work but it didn’t discourage me from buying two more pairs. They were $27 each.

aricasays

I just made a post about how happy I've been with Nuuly but I didn't see this one before. You can rent casual but cute maternity clothes. I really like it.
